The menu was understandably limited, but they had a Taco Tuesday special, so I went for that while my husband ordered the penne pasta with marinara sauce. I also tried the Paloma Margarita, though I was a little let down that it came in a regular glass. The food wasn't bad, and we're hopeful for the new owner, who just came back to the state after being away for a long time. That said, the son was a bit overzealous--it felt like he was trying a little too hard to win people over. Hopefully, it's just nerves and excitement from being new! This spot is just a few blocks from Oakland Beach, so it's shaping up to be a nice neighborhood hangout for any day of the week. Looking forward to trying their breakfast! I was expecting a local bar where everyone stopped talking and looked at you as you walked in. Sign on the door says characters welcome. I walked in and said i hear you are looking for characters. Here we are! What a great place! The bartender was amazing! Filled up my water jug and gave me a cooling compress. I had an absolute with sprite and didn't cost me $20. It also has an outside space with tables in the shade. The regulars were very kind and talkative. If I lived closer, this would be my go to place.

There's this little neighborhood bar, right in front of the Rocky Point entrance in Warwick Neck. Fish and Chips are on the specials menu, a chalkboard right next to the bar that also sported Prime Rib and Baked Cod on the night we visited. Little might not be the best description, it's a definitely a neighborhood place, tucked right into a residential area, houses all around, but the bar itself is a pretty grand affair. Its a big horseshoe shaped thing, something like 20-25 seats, and beyond it hightop tables for another 30+, then there's an expansive outside area, not so handy here in December, but its probably just the thing in nice weather. In years past, this use to be a very popular destination for a motorcycle ride. I imagine in nice weather it's likely to be the same. There is an absolutely huge parking lot. Anyway, the Fish & Chips were pretty great. Old School style, with a flour based batter, thin and crispy brown on the outside. The fish was nice, firm, piping hot and delicious. I also got an order of Clam Cakes, and though they aren't road trip worthy like an Aunt Carries, I didn't leave a single one left over. Not too shabby. One helpful hint. If you're going for dinner, have a look at the website to see if it's a live music night. On the night we visited, the band was rocking, and the show started early, so dinner that night definitely came with music.

We usually have dinner next door at the restaurant, and before heading home we walk over to Iggy's to grab a box of fresh doughboys to take with us. Somehow there's always room for doughboys. One of the things I appreciate most is the consistency. It doesn't seem to matter how busy they are, the doughboys are almost always fresh out of the fryer. They're light, golden brown, and cooked just right. I've never had one that was burnt, greasy, or raw in the middle. They strike a nice balance between having a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy center, and they're generously dusted with enough sugar to satisfy a sweet tooth without making a complete mess. The menu has plenty of classic Rhode Island favorites if you're looking for chowder, clam cakes, or other seafood, but for us it's always about the doughboys. They've become part of the ritual whenever we're at Oakland Beach, and it's one tradition we don't plan on changing anytime soon. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because this place is incredibly popular, especially during the warmer months. Depending on when you go, you may find yourself standing in line for a while. That's not necessarily a knock on the business because a busy restaurant usually says something about its reputation, but it's worth knowing if you're in a hurry. The prices are fair, the staff keeps the line moving as efficiently as they can, and the quality has remained remarkably consistent over the years. That's becoming increasingly rare. If you're spending the day at Oakland Beach and leave without stopping at Iggy's for doughboys, I think you're missing out on one of the area's best traditions. We'll definitely keep coming back.

The buns weren't the right kind. And these are more a hot dog than a weiner. But overall they were decent. If you're looking for a quick lunch they would be fine, especially with those fries. The fries were actually great, very tasty with a nice salt blend. So good in fact, that I suspect the burgers and chicken are probably pretty tasty and worth stopping by for. The service was really good as well. Very nice people work there. They probably don't sell a lot of wieners because they're one store away from Sam's, but they are not a total waste of time either. Now that summer is coming around my favorite smoothie watermelon mojito is back and it was really nice day so me and my partner decided to take a long walk over to our nearest tropical smoothie location. I've been to tropical smoothies before as i was initially introduced by my friend when I used to live in cape cod. We ordered a head as so that i can use the coupon and skip the wait. Each store locations are different but they are all pretty similar. Inside is small and has couple seats and tables with counter where you place order and kitchen where they make the food/smoothies. I got watermelon smoothies and a cali breakfast flatbread. The flatbread was not bad. Nothing too special though. Smoothie was pretty good. I like watermelon mojito because it's such a refreshing drink that tastes like summer. Sometimes the smoothie can be inconsistent depending on the person who is making it i did notice. Service was nice and quick. Since i ordered a head i lt was already ready and we just grabbed the bag and go. Overall it was a good experience. If you want decent smoothies quick this is the place. Since it's a big franchise it has a lot of locations which is convenient. Price is bit expensive for smoothie but with deals and coupons going on all the time if you use them it's not bad.
