It's good to have a dry cleaner that you can count on, especially when I'm trying to keep my sweater game going and they have a stain or two on them. Took a stained sweater here to be dry cleaned and happy to have this place nearby for that as I just walked it in. Attendant, presumably the owner was friendly enough. He took my sweater and told me it would be a week which seems to be the standard at these cleaners and alteration places. He handed me my ticket and off I went anticipating a fresh sweater. A week later that's what I got, a nicely cleaned and folded sweater in a protective bag. It ran about $15 which I agree with another reviewer is a tad high, but everything's going up these days it seems. Called for a quote on a large rain jacket to be dry cleaned and waterproofed. He said it would cost around $26. I drop off my coat and pick it up a week later for him to charge me around $50 instead. I asked about a large tear on the back of the jacket to which he replied "It's the machine I can't do anything about it". Very upset with the service, be wary of a scam. read more

Recently moved into the neighborhood so when I needed my new shirt pressed before my wedding, my fiancé took it plus a jacket and one of her dresses here. It took a week, which seems like a lot but no problem, we had time. Got it back, unzipped the bag to take a peed and it looked good! On the day of my wedding, I pull out my shirt and as my groomsmen and I are getting ready, they let me know I've got some kind of stain all over the back of my shirt. Pic attached. I guess I should've taken it all the way out and inspected more closely but I never imagined they'd end up staining a brand new shirt that just needed a press. I'm super lucky I was wearing a waistcoat so it was covered up all night, but I won't be coming back and I recommend either trying another spot (Bon Ton is great! They managed to fix the shirt and nicely clean my suit after the wedding, check them out!), or if you do, closely inspect everything before paying and leaving. Of course we lost the ticket, and since I had only just gotten a new phone, number, and plan about a week before I left them what I THOUGHT was my new number but we were rushing to get to the next destination... The perfect storm in the dry cleaning world. The coat only took a few days, but I picked it up later than the date they told me. I knew it was going to be hard for them to track down the coat, so I described it and offered a couple variations on my actual number... The guy at the desk was really nice and patient, and no one treated me like the giant jerk I felt like. End of the story-- they tracked down the coat and it was pristine. I was a first time customer of Wallingford Dry Cleaners about a week ago. I dropped off a little over $160 worth of dry cleaning between my boyfriend and I. When I picked up the dry cleaning a week later, one of my sweaters had an obvious hole in the front that had been poorly stitched. I went back in and notified an associate, who directed me to return the following day to speak with the manager. Upon speaking with the manager, he told me the hole had already been there (it definitely had not) and the dry cleaner was not at fault. After I told him I'd be taking my business elsewhere, he only offered to refund the $9 it cost to dry clean the sweater, instead of my whole order. I explained to him that unfortunately $9 doesn't really begin to cover the cost of a $120 sweater that is visibly damaged. He said there was nothing else he could do for me. I was surprised that he was so willing to let a first time customer go without even attempting to refund the entire order and keep my business in the future. I wouldn't recommend this dry cleaner, not only for the reason that they damaged an article of clothing, but because of their general apathy for customer service (especially for a first time customer). read more

I'm writing this so other brides can find a place to go to get their dress steamed/pressed. A search for "wedding dress steam" or "wedding dress press" yielded me nothing useful on search engines and Yelp for weeks. So here it is .. I put my gigantic, fluffy, and once-in-a-lifetime important dress in the hands of Wallingford Cleaners and scheduled the pickup the day before the wedding. My dress and veil were steamed perfectly and neatly bagged up for travel -- keep in mind when you take a dress in and out of a car, there is grease on the hinges of the car, so you definitely want your dress covered completely when you move it. I called in advance and got the price and schedule in advance, so I recommend you do the same. read more

Buyer beware: ensure you get them to tell you the exact cost of the service and then be possibly ready for a one-sided argument when you pick up your garments. I was ripped off here. I called ahead and inquired what the cost of waterproofing a jacket was: $10. My father needed to have two jackets waterproofed so I dropped them off along with two pairs of jeans that I was asking to have patches stitched on. I inquired what the cost of patching the jeans would be and the woman working there simply stated that "they assess that after seeing the garment" so that seemed reasonable to me though unfortunately she didn't even give me a range to expect. When I came to pick up the jackets and jeans, she told me the cost was $25 for each item. I reminded her that the waterproofing of the jackets had been quoted as $10 each and I had called ahead to which she replied, "Yes but they cleaned and pressed them also." Except... I didn't ask for that service and additional charge! The jeans patching was $25 each pair also and the quality of the work was rather poor. Basically in this situation, your clothes are held hostage if you don't want to pay and there is no chain of command. The woman working simply said I would have to speak with her manager if I wanted to complain and that he wasn't there. End of story. Furious. What a rip off. I basically paid $100 for what services would have cost $50 total at another dry cleaners. There is little recourse in this situation except to blacklist the location and tell everyone you know about the poor experience. Here you go. read more

This is kindof tough to write about as I'd always had great results in years past. As I'd done in spring for the past four years, I brought in my down comforter and the young man who took the order marked it as such on the receipt. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and I was given a poly filled comforter instead. When I returned the poly, asking for my down, I was asked to wait 30 days to see if mine turned up. Later when I returned I was handed a comforter and when I looked it over, realized it wasn't mine, although it was down (different style & color)... yet I was told to take it anyway(?!). This really wasn't okay for me, so I returned after a couple of days and spoke with the owner who said that he would replace my lost comforter with a new one, suggested Costco, so I headed off to get it. Finally, I returned with the receipt at which point the owner said that the woman who took my comforter order remembered the transaction well and knew it was not a down comforter. ummm it's down. how could I not know this?! and the order was taken by a young man anyway. He said he didn't want to argue with me, but he knew his female employee had a good memory. ugh. Why would I lie about a comforter?! He finally did the right thing and cut me a check to reimburse me... but told me he wouldn't do any cleaning for me in the future. I am sad at how this all turned out because I work nearby and really want to support other local businesses. Be sure to carefully mark your belongings! read more

I went to a white theme party a few weeks ago with some friends. For some reason my closet is full of white things. I hooked up my friend with a white sheet as a toga and a friend borrowed the cream white pants from an Indian suit I have. My friend with my white suit pant got really drunk and got dirt and a bit of wine all over the pants. He was throwing up out the window of the car on the way home if that gives you any idea how bad off he was. He learned his lesson though... I didn't take the pants to get cleaned for 3 weeks. I decided to hit trusty old yelp for some help finding a good cleaners. After the glowing reviews, I tried Wallingford Dry Cleaners in my hood. The guy at the counter didn't promise anything but said he would do his best. After waiting 4 days to see the results, I was shocked. My pants look brand new! For $7 it was totally worth it to get these Indian pants ready to go with my suit. I highly recommend this place especially for those pieces that need special care! read more

By far the best drycleaner I have ever had. The clothes turn out to be perfect, never had any issues. Here are a few things that make this place stand out in my mind - 1. They use green drycleaning bags and ask customers to recycle them 2. One time, the owner couldn't find my shirts on the day they were supposed to be ready, he apologized for the inconvenience, said he'll call me as soon as he's able to locate them, and I don't have to pay anything this time. Great experience! 3. He has saved me several dollars by telling me about clothes that don't need drycleaning, instead I can care for them on my own. Honesty! For the same price as everyone else, this is a green certified (or whatever) dry cleaner, so no deathsolvents. Think of it as a tiebreaker. Also they're able to do a 24 hour turnaround if you ask. This is uncommon with the local lamesauce dry cleaners. They did a good job, but I have one small complaint. They wrote my name on my shirt in starch. It'll wash out next time, but meanwhile I was wearing a black shirt with my name written on the front of it without noticing. Oops. read more

Yes the eco-bags are great and the price is usually less than what I walked in expecting to pay. But they are also a neighborhood place. More than a few times when I walk in they've recognized me and just pulled up my shirts. I would like to second the review that suggested you make sure to get a price quote from them beforehand. I brought a vintage dress here for a simple seam repair along with two suits for cleaning. I told them no hurry, and they gave me a turnaround time of a little over a week for all three. I came back a day or so after the deadline to pick up my clothes. They had the suits ready but said the dress would be another few days. No worries, but when I came back to pick up the dress, they asked for double what they had quoted me for the repair (almost $15 as opposed to $6). The man said that I was given an estimate, but it is the tailor (who doesn't appear to be in house) who sets the pricing for her work. I explained that I specifically asked for this before leaving my dress so I would know what I would owe and that this wasn't just a difference of a few dollars. At first he argued, but he eventually knocked a few bucks off after I grumbled a bit (though I still paid more than the quote). I can understand in any business that a price/ETA might fluctuate once the expert gets in and assesses the situation, but they should really communicate better internally about pricing and convey more generally accurate estimates to their clients instead of guessing poorly. It's not a lot of money in the grand scheme, but this was a straightforward seam repair of a few inches. Clearly, this mix up happens often enough, and the guy just kinda shrugged about it. I had some jeans I had brought to be hemmed but decided against leaving them, since I had no idea what I would be charged in the end. Generally, they are probably fine for dry cleaning, but I'm going to find some place else. The pricing here seems a little steep for the leisurely turnaround time and general blase attitude toward customers. read more

I'm over this place. I like the location. and i've been going to them for years now. At first it was just chipped and cracked buttons which is fairly common. Then it was a ruined sweater that I specifically warned the guy about. When I came back he had remembered me telling him and had already called around to macys/ etc to try to replace it, which was an unexpectedly nice thing. But I knew it was impossible since I'd already had to buy a 2nd when somebody else had ruined one - which is why i warned him. so he said he was going to put a credit on my account for the amount of that days dry cleaning - like 40-50$ approximate value of the sweater too. Went back to pick up clothes today and a shirt I'm fairly sure was in the mix wasn't there but since I'm not 100% sure I can't hold that against them. But the real rub - no credit on the account from the torched sweater. Plus now I've got one pair of flat front pants with a horrible center line creased/pressed into what was a lush pair of wool trousers. Hope that can get fixed. (I'll update the review whether or not that shirt turns up around the house) $97 for like 12 items including a suit, trousers, cashmere sweaters, silk shirt and dress shirts so decent price but not worth ruining nice clothes. read more

I was looking for a local cleaners service to take care of my suit before an interview. They did a great job and I was able to pick it up a few hours before my next flight. They missed a button that needed fixing but otherwise everything went very well and on time. I've already gone back for the same suit and even handed off some ties and zipper repairs. Street parking is pretty easy there and, if not, QFC's parking lot is right there if you can justify a grocery run. read more

I called around to a few locations to clean my down comforter and here it only cost $30 plus tax. Very simple drop off, and once your number is in the system, you're in and out in no time! My grandparents run a dry cleaners, so I consider my self a bit of an expert at the process, having spent many hours of my life helping to press, playing in the racks, etc. I even have a scar on my hand from the press to prove it! The service here is friendly and they have a quick turn over. They don't use the kind of chemicals that make your flesh melt if it gets on your hands, and they have reusable bags to cut down on plastic. You have to ask for it though, which is too bad. They should ask customers to use them if they really want to make an impact. I also wish they were open on Sundays, which seems to be the only time I can remember to pick up drycleaning. Price seems pretty average in comparison to others in the neighborhood. read more

Took a white shirt in to be laundered and pressed. Got it back with blue stains by the label, a missing collar stay, collar stay press marks from not removing the collar stays before pressing and they wrote my name with permanent marker on the inside of shirt itself. I understand some places do this but I'd perfer not to have my name written on expensive shirts. Dropped off my suit pants at the same time - After picking up there is a ring line where the hem on the pants is. It wasn't like that when I dropped it off. I like this place. Having moved from San Diego, been looking for a good dry cleaners. They have great service, found a spot that wasn't cleaned off my shirt and they took it back to have it spot cleaned. Still awaiting the results. I've also spilled cooking oil on a few of my nice dress pants and they've removed them all! Dry cleaning is about $8 and washing clothes is ~$2 an item. read more

Because my dress wasn't purchased in Seattle, I'll be shipping it up and will need to find a dry cleaner to steam it in advance of the wedding. I called Wallingford Dry Cleaners asking how long it would take just to steam the dress (no cleaning required), and they said they were completely unwilling and unable to commit to anything less than week. A WEEK!! I understand steaming can take an hour per gown, but the fact that they cannot put a rush on something - when I'm more than willing to pay extra - is ridiculous. Moved out of the neighborhood several years ago, tried different cleaners, but ultimately returned to Kwan and the good people at Wallingford Dry Cleaners. I got some pants hemmed here. I was impressed with how nice they came out, so I went back again. This time I wanted a (somewhat expensive) dress fixed. It had a ripped seam in the front, near the neckline. I had held off on getting it fixed since it just seemed like it would be difficult to do well. They did a beautiful job, color-matching the thread, lining up the new seam perfectly--- it looks like new! Even though I wasn't planning on getting it pressed or cleaned, they weren't planning on charging for the fix. I ended up adding in cleaning since I wasn't paying for anything else, and it came back beautiful. I'm definitely going to take all of my repair jobs here. read more
