It came out in less than 10 min; nice. Was cooked closer to the medium but not too bad. Au jus was on the sweeter side, helped to moisten. Horseradish is a must. Awful experience. We were seated at a "booth ?" but one side was a wood plank about 8" wide and very uncomfortable - and we are not large people. The steak presentation was deplorable. A big white plate with a hunk of steak and a naked potato. It was the most unappetizing thing imaginable. I will give them credit that the steaks were excellent, but not for the price which was exorbitant. Finally, they add a 20% gratuity which goes to the HOUSE, not even to the server. Supposedly so they can pay better wages but, really? A good server will make exponentially better money in tips than wages will ever pay. So, they are only getting the mediocre ones - and it showed. It saddens me to write this review because the first time I came here, I had a great experience but the second time was just not up to par. The highlights of our meal were the smoked manhattans and the scallop crudo. When it came to the steak, all three of our filets were majorly over cooked. I ordered mine medium rare and specified leaning toward rare, but it was not pink at all. The other two were even more cooked than mine, despite asking for medium rare. Two of us sent back the steaks (all three should have), and this threw off our entire experience for the one of us who ordered prime rib. The staff was quite apologetic but it really didn't make for a good experience on one of our only dinners in Walla Walla on our trip. read more

Oh my gosh! We came for our good friends 70'd birthday and what an embarrassment. His med-rare steak was completely brown. We paid a corking fee and no one poured our wine. We got no bread had to ask for it. The salad came with the dinner not before. The birthday boys steak was brown instead of med-rare. The steak cooked properly didn't come till everyone else was done eating. We didn't want it then. The manager was not very apologetic. The poor birthday boy had a terrible experience. Walla Walla is an amazing wine destination that is clamoring for more culinary options that can also be supported in between the peaks of wine tourism. This is the only designated Steak House in the city and it's worth a try. On my routine seasonal (event focused) and non-seasonal visits to Walla Walla, I usually end up here at least once. The staff is very friendly and the place is very nicely appointed. The food and wine is of issue. On the steaks - I think there are still execution issues here. I've had/shared the tomahawk ("Hatchet") a couple times, cooked perfectly and cut tableside and it was *amazing* - no issue - as I would expect. I think they pay special attention to this cut - mistakes would be expensive. But ordering an ordinary steak - eg, a USDA Prime - Rib Eye - once came out perfect, once came out cooked past medium and the other time was cooked properly, but was easily mistaken for USDA Choice Top Sirloin. When I pointed out the issue, it was corrected and I was delivered a "fix". The signature Thiessan burger (claimed to be the flagship ground beef burger) - comes with bacon jam. Jam?! So I paid extra to have actual bacon strips instead and was awarded perhaps a half-strip of bacon, and it was again cooked incorrectly and with wrong ingredients. I complained and they fixed it and then comped it (thank you, I would have paid for the fixed version as it ended up great) but again, execution. Friendly manager and staff to the rescue, though they did make me feel guilty for complaining about the medium-well cooked rib eye that was not a rib eye. On the wine - when WW Steak first opened, for the first couple years, the wine-by-the glass offerings were great - and priced appropriately. I won't get into the specifics, but now it's what I would call overpriced and underwhelming. Plenty of by-the-bottle options, but when I just want a glass of good wine with a casual meal, you'll need to spend at minimum $20/glass to get something entry-level for quality - $25 for something mid-level - not on par with other similar restaurants in the area. Didn't used to be that way, but that's how it is now. I wish they would go back to the old pricing model (and selection) because I would buy more wine and visit more often. (Bartenders are amazing by the way, so if a cocktail is more your thing, they will not disappoint). The wine isn't worth the spend, though. I'll keep coming back and hope they can up their game a little. read more

Excellent steak, good selection of beer brewed on the premises. They have a really large patio, with great service. My server recommended a desert for me that was really impressive - a fresh baked oatmeal cookie still in a cast iron dish with a small scoop of butterscotch ice cream. The food was good, but overpriced. Service was exemplary. I won't return to this restaurant for 1 reason. They tack on a mandatory 20% service fee, of which the server only receives 15%. For the level of service we received I would have tipped THE SERVER 20% to 25%. However when the service fee is hoisted upon me AFTER the meal - I'm done. If the house needs an additional 5% build it into the price and let the customer tip the server appropriately for the service received. At 5:30 in the evening the restaurant was sparsely populated. There were more staff than patrons. I can see why. read more

Our party of four had a difficult time from the get go trying to find the front door while dark outside, walked around the entire building freezing our booties off until we followed someone else in. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server approached us to "explain" the menu which he then talked about a bunch of stuff awkwardly, none of us we could hear him it was so loud in there. We ordered the New York, Prime Rib and Roasted Chicken x2. It was ok, basic. Nothing to swoon over for very expensive food. Our server did mention the 20% tip had been added already (to both checks since we paid separately) and I'm not sure how you can even do that? What if you had an awful service? A disappointing visit and meal. We sat outside, which started off OK, but as the evening cooled their warmers weren't able to keep up and several of us grew cold. They couldn't figure out our seats well enough to get the dishes to each person correctly, and a few steaks were overcooked. Service was average with food and drinks slower than expected. I was hit in the head with a serving dish, no big deal, but the servers brusk apology was unexpected. They require one check for groups of 6 or more; we had about 20 and that was a real problem. The server was adamant about one check, and the manager was borderline belligerent about it, saying we'd signed a contract stating it. The contract is their reservation agreement. What gets me to write this now is their mandatory 22% gratuity they add on, which the company keeps and does not pass on to the employees. A conversation around town found they don't compensate their employees nearly as well as their competitors, despite what they say. Overall, average meal with below average service, high prices and unacceptable management philosophy. Avoid them. read more

This restaurant was SUCH a disappointment. A group of 8 of us had a late night dinner reservation (9:15pm), as half of our party was arriving to town late in the evening. There was only our table, and two other tables still dining at the time, and due to our "high volume" the manager decided, (without telling us, until 45 minutes had passed and we had not received our drinks) that they were cutting off our entire table. For the record, one of our guests had too much wine that day, but was still respectful and not in any way belligerent. The rest of the party had only ordered one drink and one of us had no drinks whatsoever. There was no reason to cut off the entire table, even if they felt as though one person had too much to drink. In addition to the complete lack of communication that there was by the server, when we asked to talk to the manager about the issue, they said that the manager had left and they weren't able to do anything. To add insult to injury, we then asked for sodas in lieu of our drinks, and they had the audacity to bring them to our table in children's sippy cups and said "that's just how we serve our soda here". I have never in my life been so disrespected in a restaurant. This is coming from someone who had worked in the restaurant industry for years. Moreover, the automatic service charge at the end of the meal was the cherry on top of the absolute terrible experience. The check came with a typed sheet explaining their service charge policy that states: "If there is any aspect of your experience that does not exceed expectations, we will make it right. Our management team welcomes the opportunity to discuss your concern." This situation was handled in the complete opposite way that was referred to in their policy. The staff was dismissive and would not hear any of our concerns and there was no opportunity to discuss anything, whatsoever. When we finally were served our meals (with sippy cup soda, of course), it was an utter letdown. The lobster was completely overcooked and rubbery and my steak was average. Dare I say I've had better at Red lobster? I would encourage anyone looking for a great place to eat in Walla Walla to look elsewhere and save themselves from a bad dining experience, like the one we had. read more

We held a private event here in the private dinning room that used to be train wagon. Everything was perfect! Thank you Erin for taking such a great care of our party! First off, we had a short list of 5 places that we reached out to. While others took days to reply, Walla Walla Steak was prompt and friendly. They gave us great options for our party, including good vegetarian options. Other places act as if they are giving you the chance to be with them. Walla Walla Steak treats you like a customer. Table was perfectly set when we arrived. Waitress and Host were there to greet us. I had a delicious Crab Cake (typically not my favorite stuff, but this one was amazing). My prime rib was cooked perfectly, medium-rare, juicy, delicious. I also had a double baked potato that was deliciously prepared. They charge a corking fee $25 / btl which is standard in Walla Walla. Always amazing food, friendly staff and great environment. The bar area is a great place to park it if you are alone or a party of two. The prime rib is my favorite prime rib on the planet. I don't know what kind of prep goes into their amazing cut, but it is always amazing, flavorful, and worth the value. Lots of folks on here complain about the mandatory service charge. It is a unique idea and there are customers who are fans of it and others that will hate on it forever. It's all good, just go and enjoy the food and service and tip more if you like. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were amazingly crisp but lacked any seasoning. The low point of the evening was when my husband and I agreed to split the last piece of bread. As I sat there with half the piece in my hand, the other half on the bread plate and butter knife in hand our waitress walked by and in one instantaneous swoop took the bread and butter away without so much as a nonverbal check in. My dad lives in Walla Walla and I asked him where he wanted to go out and he said Walla Walla Steak Company, but you better make reservations. I didn't read any reviews, like I normally do as he wanted to go there; I am glad I didn't read them before we went as I was fairly surprised about some of the negative feedback. The restaurant was pretty busy but we thought it was one of our best dining experiences anywhere. Here is the summary: Service: Our waitress was fantastic, her attention to detail was not something I have experienced often when dining out. Getting the special requests on drink orders correct, to following up on a timely fashion and keeping us informed on status, cleaning our table before entrees came out, etc. I wish I remembered her name as she should be training all the other wait staff, or she was trained very well. Appetizers: We started off by sharing a caesar for two and the scallop appetizer for two. The portion of a half caesar was very ample and both people really enjoyed the dressing and overall quality of the salad. The scallops were very light and fresh and the miso and wasabi aioli had great flavor. Entrees: Dad had the salmon, one person had prime rib (baked potato included), and two of us got the tenderloin medallions. All meat and seafood orders were cooked as requested. The food runners asked us to cut into our steak to ensure it was cooked correctly, which it was. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. Another plus is vegetables and potatoes were included with each entree, some high end steak places only provide the protein and nothing else. Dessert:The four of us shared the chocolate chip cookie (warmed in a small skillet) with ice cream. Unfortunately that is the only picture I took, but it was again very yummy. We went to Walla Walla Steak Company during the Covid-19 pandemic, in early August, to celebrate our anniversary. Our server and staff was on point with everything; topping off watee glasses, drink recommendations, food and steak temperatures, and appetizer timing. The outdoor space was very private and cozy. We were flanked by a train car in the restaurant's livery. The rustic yet modern decor made the experience very high end in a relaxed environment and dress code mix. Prices were reasonable for the quality of rhe ingredients and service. It was well worth the visit, and even though we walked there from our hotel, The Finch, there was ample parking for those driving there. Because of the anniversary, the server comped us a dessert. Their selection was decadent, and their liquor and aperitif menu has almost everything you could ask for. My husband ordered the Pappy Van Winkle, which we enjoyed under a clear sunny sky. There were a few minor hiccups towards the end of our visit but it was solved quickly. My family and I went here while we were on a family vacation. We were staying in Richland but it was about an hours drive to Walla Walla. Our family opted to sit outside tables as we had a party of 9 and because of COVID19 we couldn't sit together. Our waitress came and took our drink orders while we looked at the menu. We were on a budget so we all ordered burgers or fish and chips. Our order came out quickly and our waitress was attentive with our drinks. I ordered the fish and chips and they were cooked to perfection. The fish wasn't overdone, it had a light batter and the fries were done perfectly. The rest of my family had the a burger and it was very juicy and looked delicious. The patio where we were sat was real relaxing and it was a very nice evening to be outdoors during COVID19.
