Very Veggie Pizza

Great menu, vegetarian options huge tap list wonderful service. Good pub vibe. Would go back.

Path to picnic area
Tammy P.

Stopped in for lunch since we were in the area and had our dog. Once we found a table it took some time to get menus. Had to go in and get some. There is a large outside area with tables as well as a side area with picnic tables. We ordered a couple of beers along with a Cuban Sandwich and fries. It took some time to get our food. The beers were good and the sandwich was filling but the pork was a little dry. Needed a few more pickles also. The fries were cooked perfectly.

This place is perfect after a session at Stevenson. It can easily accommodate larger parties. We sat outdoors where they welcome your pets with water and dog treats. We ordered at the window and found us a nice table on the shade. I ordered a gluten free combo pizza, it was fantastic! The crust was cooked perfectly and the toppings were tasty. As far a price goes it was fairly reasonable. There is plenty of parking all around the building. Yes, you should eat here!

Nashville hot wings. Not your typical Nashville chili oil style but still the best flavor I tried.
Aaron P.

I was in town for the weeklong paddling festival that is the Gorge Downwind Championships in Skamania. On day 2 I visited Walking Man after googling "wings" and seeing good reviews about theirs. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the wings so much I came back 4 different times with an ever expanding group of friends. The friends let me try all different kinds including: classic hot, Korean BBQ, Nashville hot, and cherry stout. The Nashville hot were by far my favorite with a good heat on them compared to the others. The cherry stout were the most unique with a touch of earth sweetness. I also tried the veggie pizza which had a great crust and fresh touch of roasted garlic. Oh, and the Cajun fries are worth the upgrade! The best part of the place is how good it was for groups. You order at a window and are given a pager which tells the server what table you're at after you scan the table number. No split checks, no getting short changed via Venmo, no mess. The service was overwhelmed a couple times because there are a TON of people in town for the event but they were kind and apologized the one night it went slow. It felt like everyone was at the bar that night.

This is what they consider a Cuban
Ryan F.

Went for some dinner last night and could not believe what the considered quality. Fries came out warm and dripping with oil, my wifes mushroom burger was a overcooked hockey puck and my Cuban came mostly untrusted, dripping with whatever the use on the griddle and devoid of meat and no cheese. Been coming here for years, but can't justify paying for this anymore, there are other breweries in the area with quality food.

Margherita. What is this?
Scott H.

I'm not quite sure why our pizza experience was the way it was. I look at the pictures and that isn't what we got. We got the margherita. Disgusting. It was soggy and undercooked. In fact you could peel off the layer of undercooked top. It was just unpleasant tasting too. I got the Cuban sandwich. I was massively happy with my meal. Lots of pork and the sauce was really flavorful too. I'd return for the Cuban. My only issue is that the ham was either missing or lost. Gotta have the ham. I'll be back for the Cuban but will definitely pass on the pizza.

We were looking for a bite to eat with a dog friendly atmosphere on the way back to Vancouver and tried this place based on the star rating & message on phone advising they are pet friendly. Lots of outdoor seating options as well as inside for dogs. The menu is not plentiful but there are options. Pricing was reasonable. Pizza size is definitely shareable. Give it a shot if you are traveling with furry family members.

Ok, they had me at helles beer. We had beers and dinner. The food was delicious. We shared a pizza and a Caesar salad. We also had the cauliflower wings which I thought were awful. Way too spicy and frozen tasting. We were sitting across from where the servers were and the bar was in between us so there were times when we couldn't get the servers attention. All in all, I'd recommend this place.

Cute place just across the river into Washington! 4 stars only because the hazy I ordered wasn't really very hazy. Clear as day! But no matter I know I'm on the wrong side of the country for New England IPAs. Snacks weee good vibe was cute and there's a little shop next door too.

Walking Man makes a Cherry Stout that, alone, is worth the drive from wherever you happen to be. It is occasionally available at bars in Portland, but the atmosphere at the source in Stevenson adds to the experience. On our most recent visit, they had an inspited pairing on the food menu that I don't recall seeing anywhere else: chicken wings with Indian Butter Chicken sauce. Their version of the sauce wasn't my all time favorite, but I'm sure I'll be trying this again on my next visit. My guess is that, like me, a lot of people find themselves here in nice weather, when the siren call of the Gorge is loudest. So, don't be surprised to find a crowd, and a wait for your order to be prepared. Thankfully the outdoor seating is in a beautiful shaded area, so the wait will be pleasant.

We're back! 2 weeks later than my last review because the Gorge, Brandy our gracious and loving…read moreserver, dining tent deck view/ambiance, FOOD and "gluttony memory" called us back! An epic Breakfast menu for foodies and standard fair breakfast/brunch lovers is new and ON at Clark & Lewie's - designed and prepared by Brandy's husband and chef Tony! A "first" review challenge for me: How to write in "groans and sighs." Because words just won't accurately communicate the sophisticated, savory flavors, texture and clear love of food like we experienced. Crepes. Yes crepes! They offer two varieties that I couldn't choose from, so they offered one of each! The first is bacon, cheese and egg, and the second with ham/cheese and raspberry jam? The first bite - oooooohhhh - the texture that hits your mouth says "do I have your FULL attention?". And the first auditory responses are moans, groans and a few unsavory expletives....for which you quickly apologize to your dining partner. And your eyes lock on your food and fork - and then partner - with some serious "affection." Holy crap! Then the biscuits and gravy...equally not your standard fair with ample extra creamy servings of love and satiation. We also had to try an extra side of their potatoes obrian which are also not you standard fair and clearly trying to hold its own as a lead entre vs side. Moist, savory and incredible dipped in the gravy:) And then the bloody Mary's! Please note in the pictures the massive thick piece of bacon, that they cook in the oven with cayanne and brown sugar! And ALL of this backed by a scenic Columbia riverside view with its sleepy, eerie and calming mountain peaks, clouds and shimmering light. I must again reference our (local) server Brandy, and her incredible multi-talented husband Tony- they are the heart behind your entire dining experience. Brandy's piercing blue eyes radiate her love of what she does and her life with her large family here in the gorge. Richness in every level that pleases all your senses and soul. Oh! And with a bag full of breakfast leftovers, we ordered a full serving of their famous beef and elk stroganoff to take home as well!:) We'll be back!

Like, I jumped in the shower, and it arrived before I was finished! How's that for service?! The dishes arrived hot and fresh, packaged in to-go containers, as is the norm these days, but that did not detract from the experience. The Breakfast Tacos were incredible, perhaps the best I've had, thanks to an awesome salsa topping, a dash of lime juice, and delicious roasted potatoes. I would have trouble ordering anything else for breakfast here, on future visits. My wife's Steelhead Omelet, filled with delicious smoked salmon, cream cheese, and assorted veggies, was also wonderful (I had a few more bites than I probably should have), and more fantastic roasted potatoes on the side. It doesn't look all that fancy, but it's like a Christmas present: who cares about the packaging, when the stuff inside is what counts?! Prices are surprisingly reasonable for the things that we ordered, considering the size of each entree. I've had far worse meals, for far more money, so we were very content with every aspect of our order, and without any added overhead for the "convenience" of having it brought to our room. When it comes to "room service", this is the kind of service you want, every time. Very recommended.

First of all, the drive into the town was gorgeous and scenic. What a restaurant with a view! Easy parking and plenty of seating on the inside. Second, the staff were incredible. From the moment we walked in, the young lady taking our order was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with our questions as non-locals. Another co-worker was helpful in helping us to get seated and bringing out food/drinks. Wonderful service, thank you! Third, the food was AMAZING! Everything we ate was fresh, hearty, and so flavorful. We shared a cup of clam chowder and it was so creamy and delicious. My husband got the fish and chips with the Cajun seasoning and it was so scrumptious! And very filling! I got the smoked salmon po'boy and it was so decadent. I loved every bite and walked away stuffed! And, on top of it all, prices were so reasonable for such fresh fish and ingredients! If we are ever in the area again, we are going to be sure to stop by Brigham Fish Market. It is worth every minute of the drive, every dollar, and every bite! Thanks for an amazing lunch!

This is their more upscale dining option there (elevated menu & on the pricey side), as they have a more casual lounge dining room on-site as well. This dining room is beautifully decorated, but it's your typical nice hotel style dining room that's large with high-ceilings, so it doesn't have an intimate or romantic feel. Not a problem, just mentioning it in case that's the vibe you wanted. The staff were friendly & helpful. Our food was delicious at the start when it was still hot/warm: the Hubs had their Lamb Ragu, and I had the Halibut. Portions were exactly enough for you to eat it all and feel just satisfied, but not stuffed, without any leftovers. I was hoping portions would be a little bit more, based on the price, but given the high cost of groceries these days, I understand. What wasn't so great? In a word: cold. Their dinner service starts at 5p and we arrived a few minutes after that time, so we were part of their first diners of the evening on a Saturday night. We ordered their small loaf of warm sourdough bread & butter to have with our meal. The bread was lukewarm, but the butter, which had been previously whipped & piped into a little ramekin ahead of time, was cold & hard, as it must have just came out of the fridge. The plates our entrees were served on were also cold, so halfway through our meals our food was completely cold. Even though their dinner service starts at 5p, I'm sure there's kitchen staff in there ahead of time that should get some of those little ramekins of butter out of the fridge ahead of time (or at least put under the warming lamp for a little bit before serving), and put some serving plates under the heat lamp or in a warming drawer. Perhaps they normally do this and on our night there someone forgot. Either way, it out a cold damper on what we hoped would be nice dinner out.

Great service, great drinks, and the best pizza I've had in decades!…read more The beers Backwoods makes are all delicious and smooth-drinking. The service staff was all exceptional. But the pizza! Off the charts!, FULL REVIEW of all Services: If anyone who enjoys hiking, river fishing, or just a general outdoor-focused vacation wants a good, simple getaway with their spouse/loved one, check out the Backwoods brand in Carson, Washington (just north-northeast of Bridge of the Gods/Cascades Locks). Backwoods Cabins offers a really great overnight stay option. The 8 cabins there are all basic "two-room" designs (bedroom and attached bathroom, and a living room / mini-kitchen room). The cabins sport king-sized beds, a gas fireplace and outdoor fire, a mini kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and microwave (no stove/range). I think 3 of the 8 cabins welcome dogs. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). The brewery also has a smokehouse, with fantastic smoked brisket, pulled pork, and house-made sausage/brats. But even better, the Backwoods Brewery offers the BEST PIZZA I've had in decades. The pizza dough is a perfect balance of flavor and texture. It's not too thin and not too thick. The crust is chewy in the middle, with a great crusty edge and base. The red sauce (they also have a white sauce we didn't try) is thick and rich, with a few tomato chunks. It's got a slight spicy bite with a sweet finish. They also have some unique house pizzas. We tried the Whistle Punk - Red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, fresh mozzarella rounds - and the Pepperoni Express - Red sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, tomatoes, banana peppers, smoked mozzarella. Both were outstanding. I'd go so far as to say both Donna and I deemed these the best pizzas we've had in 35+ years (noting that our first date was at a pizza joint in Fife we both thought was the best-ever pizza). If you stay in the Backwoods Cabins, you get two coupons for free drinks at the brewery (beer/wine/cider/cocktails) as well as an assortment of snacks for your hiking adventures, and a full S'mores kit to use over the gas fire pit. And if you are in a dog-friendly cabin, you get complimentary treats, and water/food bowls for your canines.
