Updates! We came back for dinner times:…read more Food This is now our third visit to Le Sel Bistro, and after experiencing both brunch and dinner twice, I can confidently say this place is worth returning to. Our original brunch experience was splendid. We ordered the Jambon de Paris Omelet and BTA Benedict, along with the À La Banana French Toast to share. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. For our first dinner, we ordered the Chicken Fricassée and steak, followed by cheesecake and crème brûlée for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, although we were a little disappointed that several menu items had already sold out by the time we arrived. Rather than letting that discourage us, we made another reservation, this time for 6:15 PM, hoping to try some of the dishes we had missed. Thankfully, they were available! On our second dinner visit, we started with the goat cheese appetizer, followed by the Duck à l'Orange and pork chops. For dessert, we tried the banana bread pudding and caramel brûlée. It was wonderful getting to explore more of their menu, and we enjoyed the experience just as much as our previous visits. Service The service has been one of the things that keeps us coming back. During our first dinner, we had an 8 PM reservation and hadn't realized the restaurant would be closing an hour later. Naturally, we were a little worried that our experience might feel rushed. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. The blonde woman with glasses, whom I've seen other reviewers refer to as the manager, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. She made us feel welcome despite our late reservation, which we genuinely appreciated. Our original brunch experience was equally pleasant. Our server was kind, attentive, and happy to answer our questions about dishes we saw being brought to other tables. The service has always felt friendly without being overbearing. Atmosphere The restaurant has such a relaxed, vintage bistro atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. During brunch, we sat near a window beside a fireplace heater, which made for a particularly cozy experience. There's also outdoor seating with heaters and a covered area, which is a thoughtful touch for Washington weather. Having now visited for dinner as well, I appreciate how the restaurant offers an experience worth coming back for, whether it's a casual brunch or a nice evening out. Overall Three visits later, Le Sel Bistro has continued to leave a wonderful impression on us. Between the food, welcoming service, and charming atmosphere, it's become somewhere we genuinely look forward to returning. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation, and if you're hoping to try something specific from the menu, an earlier dinner reservation may be worthwhile since popular dishes can sell out.

We visited Waffle Stop on a Sunday morning around 9 AM and were happy to be seated immediately--no wait, which was a great start. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a charming interior perfect for a laid-back breakfast. We started with fresh-squeezed orange juice ($4 for a small, no refills), which was vibrant and tasty, though a bit pricey for the size. For our meal, my husband had the sugar Belgian waffle, beautifully presented on a bright yellow plate and dusted with powdered sugar. It was crisp, sweet, and satisfying. I ordered the mini mess waffle, which came loaded with savory sausage gravy, crisp bacon, and a sprig of rosemary. Underneath all that rich gravy, there were perfectly cooked eggs and a layer of crispy hash browns, adding a hearty and satisfying base to the dish. The service was excellent--our server was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without rushing us. The only drawback was the state of the bathrooms. While the dining area was clean and well-decorated, the bathrooms were noticeably grimy and in need of a deep clean. The dirt and buildup distracted from an otherwise great experience. Overall, Waffle Stop is a fantastic spot for a casual breakfast with delicious food and great service. If they can give the bathrooms a little more attention, it would be a top-notch spot. Definitely recommend for a laid-back weekend brunch! read more

Disappointed by the excessive upcharges I visited again this weekend and ordered one of the combos. While the food quality remains good, I was shocked to see that the eggs served were just a fraction of a scramble--and yet, they still charge a $4 upcharge for egg whites. This feels unreasonable, especially since most other restaurants don't impose an extra fee for egg whites, and they're actually cheaper these days. It's disappointing to see what seems like a focus on profits over customer satisfaction or fairness. Before long, it feels like they might start charging for water, napkins, or utensils--where does it stop? Unfortunately, this experience has left me appalled enough to reconsider returning in the future. What could have been a go-to spot is now overshadowed by these policies. read more

The hash browns, pork patty, and eggs were delicious, with the pork patty tasting particularly fresh and flavorful. While the waffles were good overall, I found the strawberry cheesecake topping a bit too sweet for my liking. The Nashville chicken and waffles stole the show, with the chicken being exceptionally juicy and crunchy, complementing the waffles perfectly. The combination was a delightful burst of flavors. However, the service was a bit lacking, as our server didn't check on us frequently or offer refills as expected. Despite this, the ambiance of the place was pleasant, ideal for a casual brunch outing without being overly fancy. read more
