Alright this place is off the chain y'all. I've been knocking this waffle joint since I got here. Seriously have been fam. I've been here for around 4 years and would see this place and think "a waffle specific restaurant? that's dumb anyone can make waffles just get a machine!" Was I wrong. They don't just make waffles. They l i v e and b r e a t h e them. Holy hell these waffles are SO SO fluffy, light and airy. It almost feels like cotton candy in your mouth. Don't expect your run in the mill Hilton Hotel waffle at the continental breakfast. These waffles mean BUSINESS. They have many different variations but I've only ever had the fried chicken and waffles. But lemme tell you, you think their waffle game was bomb? Well y'all don't underestimate the chicken skills they got. That is some JUICY. CRISPY. CHICKEN. Holy hell. I was blown away by the quality and freshness. I even told the owner I was expecting a damn Tyson frozen chicken on my waffle. Bud I was surely mistaken. In a nutshell don't be me and ignore this place for 4 years. I was in the east side of town working at a field office for the day when I wanted to find a place a little off the beaten path for lunch aside from your standard sandwich, pizza, or burger spot. Waffle Rush was just what was needed. This small locally-owned restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza on Debarr Rd. next to Hacienda's Mexican Restaurant between Boniface and Muldoon. The dining area is modest yet cozy. I was given a friendly greeting by the owner behind the counter. I took a couple of minutes to peruse the menu until one of their lunch specials displayed off to the side of the wall caught my eye. Mama Deb's Southern Fried Chicken and Waffles. Perfect! That is something that I don't have every day. I placed my order and took a seat at one of the tables by the windows. There were a couple of diners trying one of the specialty Rolled-up Waffles with eggs, sausage, and cheese, another item I have to try on the next visit. My order only took a few minutes to arrive. The large chicken tenders were amazing, perfectly breaded and lightly fried with spicy seasoning for a kick. Likewise, the waffle was golden brown and fluffy with a pat of butter on top. Two cups came with the plate on the side: honey mustard for the chicken and maple syrup for the waffle. The meal was filling enough that I didn't have to eat dinner until later on in the evening. The menu boasts an eclectic variety of specialty waffles, sandwiches, breakfast plates, smoothies, hot chocolate, and dirty soda (Coke drinks with add-on flavors like strawberry, grape, coconut, lime, cherry, vanilla, and mango among others). Some of the noticeable selections on the menu include the PB&J Rush (peanut butter, orange-raspberry jam, and cream cheese between two waffles), the French Onion Roast Beef Sandwich (caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, roasted garlic parmesan aioli served with au jus sauce...French onion soup in a sandwich!), the Hair Brain Sandwich (peppered turkey pastrami, provolone, fried egg, deep fried onion straws, and horseradish cream sauce on a Kaiser bun.....interesting...another one to try in the future), Banana Soul Waffle(bananas, banana pudding, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle), and the Harvest Apple Pie Waffle (apple pie filling on a cinnamon sugar covered waffle topped with whipped cream.....sounds like a winner!). Very laidback atmosphere and a good alternative aside from your standard fast food or takeout places. read more

I was in the mood for waffles and this place came up. It's tucked away in a small strip mall. My fav is the peaches liege waffle with Tennessee chicken. It's really good!! I don't know what they're doing to the food but it's d*mn good. Very fresh and flavorful. I went there every day for 3-4 days while working in the area. Mama Deb and her husband are the owners and do all the cooking and serving. Their son also helps. Food comes out fast and hot. I highly recommend. read more

I know that a lot of people enjoy this place in the Anchorage area, but this is not on my list to even think about going back. I did not think the service was great, staff were flustered, and I get being more conservative and using plastic utensils and paper plates, but it was not great for a sit down good breakfast. It was difficult to get served (we almost left) and our waffles did not come with syrup. Perhaps we went on a bad day, but it was enough for us to not want to go back. (This was pre COVID) read more

This place is overpriced for serving diabetes inducing lard infested crap. I complained that my bacon was undercooked and the owner came out and argued that it wasn't undercooked. First of all she looked like she has diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, COPD, morbid obesity, and every other human disease that eating too much lard causes. Second, she was rude as hell. Third, her food isn't as good as she thinks it is. Finally, I think the health department needs to come in and check out her food handling and cooking procedures. read more

I wanted to like the food given previous high rate reviews, but... everything was either tooooo salty or tooooo sweet. I ordered the Leigh waffle breakfast. The presentation of the Sweet Georgia Peach waffles was amazing, but it was a mouthful of sugar. It was a Belgium leighe waffle topped with warm sliced peaches, cinnamon sugar, butter caramel sauce, whipped cream, and candies pecans. Sounds yummy, right? The waffle type has a sugary crust to it, the peaches were the canned type drenched in the syrup its canned in, and with the addition of copious amounts of cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, and candies pecans - it was too much. Maybe if the peaches were rinsed off, half the syrup (or placed in the side for customers to pour as much or little as they want), dash of cinnamon only, and regular plain pecans might make this dish more enjoyable and not like I was gonna get diabetes. The remaining breakfast comprised of salty hash browns and eggs over easy swimming in an orang-y oil on my plate; also so salty. My hubs ordered a chicken sandwich - the breading was way over salted and the fries had a small mountain of salt piled on. Again, nicely presented, but so salty it was hard to enjoy the food. This usually indicates the lack of freshness in ingredients or it was just a bad day in the kitchen. Jury is still out whether I'd return or not. I give one star on food, 4 stars on presentation and cleanliness of establishment, but I ended with 3 stars b/c the woman (owner?) and the chef (who came out to check on his patrons) were friendly and accommodating. Tucked away in the corner of a shopping center, this place doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside really), but if you're looking for a waffle (and plenty of other breakfast staples), this place delivers as one would expect given its name. You can get them with toppings, syrup, you name it. They seem to do a pretty strong business in milkshakes as well from what other customers were ordering. The service was prompt and friendly. The shop filled up quickly after opening so try to avoid busy times as there isn't a ton of seating. read more

Waffle and syrup was a great pairing for sweet and savory. We spoke with the owner while we waited for our take out which wasn't long at all great people which is an added plus. The book was amazing! I had a craving for chicken and waffles. I would normally go to another place in town because I love the chicken, but hate the waffles, so I remembered seeing this place in a FB group. I ordered lunch to go. I am so glad I did! Best chicken strips hands down! Their chicken has so much flavor you don't even need a sauce. Their waffles are a perfect combination of sweet and savory. I got the pecan butter chicken and waffles and I've been thinking about it ever since. Suggestion though to ask for the butter on the side if you're ordering to go and the pecan butter on the side even if you're eating in. There was a lot and it's very seeet, I only ate maybe 1/6 of what it came with , so I imagine it would be too much if it was all over the dish. I love the food we got here. We ordered the Chicken and waffle and the chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle was crisp but fluffy. It came with a maple syrup and a honey mustard we combined them and drizzled it on top of the chicken and waffle, it was out of this world delicious. I came back with more people to try it the next weekend and it was just as good as the first. We also ordered the Maple Bacon waffle and it was perfection. It had bacon chopped and cooked into the waffle and served with bacon on top. It was also served with real maple syrup. Sooo good. My husband and I finally stopped for breakfast after going past many times. This place is a hidden gem! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the one man working there. He gave us the rundown of the different types of waffles he has and was very informative. He swiftly got to work after taking our order and our food was ready within ten minutes. Both of our plates were steaming hot when they arrived. I got the chicken and waffles and my husband got the pineapple upside down waffle. My food was served with syrup and homemade honey mustard. The waffle had a wonderful taste and texture, just had a few spots that were slightly overdone. But the chicken tenders on top were outstanding! The chicken was moist, 3 large tenders, covered with light flaky homemade breading. The pineapple upside down dish was equally appealing. I highly recommend this place! On 10/23/22 I called to place a to-go order for myself and my daughter. I left a message because their phone had not yet been switched over from being closed on Thursday and Friday. I never received a call back. I sent an email through the website and still didn't hear back. I decided to call one more time and a woman answered. I explained that I had just called and left a message and she made it clear that she was not happy with me telling her I had left a message. My son in law picked up our meals and when he came back, because of the woman's comment, I asked them if they were busy. He said not at all. I am unsure as to why she was so rude to me. Oh my goodness! We went today, and got take out. Chicken/waffle fries for the kiddos, and we were supposed to get a chicken sandwich, but it got mixed up with a breakfast sandwich. We didn't realize the mix up until we got home, but I'm so glad we kept it! The chicken was so good, and waffle fries were a perfect pairing. It came with two different sauces, which were both delicious. We got some bacon/egg/cheese breakfast biscuits... and oh my goodness! The biscuit was perfect to hold tHat sandwich together.
