The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

I ordered the BLT and had the chicken lemon soup The soup was very lemony and salty but I ate the whole bowl it was pretty good. Nice quaint family run local restaurant. I would try the Alfredo next time assuming they make the sauce in house?

We had good service. They were pretty steady with people coming in. They made us wait a few minutes to sit downstairs. Longer wait upstairs or outside. There is no way someone could look another adult in the eye, explain that price, and be taken seriously. Service is too slow for how expensive everything is, but friendly enough. The ambiance is still nice enough with the Mountain View but again, the overall experience is overpriced and lacks its former character and soul.

The Elf on the Shelf Pizza = 10/10…read more Recently, we visited Anchorage and were told that we absolutely had to try Moose's Tooth. I'll admit, when I first started reading the menu, I was a little concerned I wasn't going to find something I'd like. Some of the combinations were definitely outside of what I would normally order. Then I spotted the Elf on the Shelf pizza. We asked our amazing waiter what he thought about it, and when he told us it was one of his favorites, we decided to commit and give it a try. Let me just say... MIND. BLOWN. This pizza was easily a 10/10 for me. The combination of flavors worked together so perfectly, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals from our entire Alaska trip. My only complaint? I'm back home in Arizona and we have nothing like it here! But I guess that just gives me another reason to come back to Alaska. Moose's Tooth, you officially have an Arizona girl dreaming about Elf on the Shelf pizza.

It also happened to be Monday, and the lunch special slice that day was the Call of the Wild, which was exactly the one I wanted to try. The Call of the Wild had reindeer sausage, steak, bacon, mushrooms, red peppers, cheese, and garlic cream sauce. The reindeer sausage was what sold me on it. If I'm eating pizza in Alaska, I might as well get the one with reindeer on it. It was savory, meaty, and very good. We also got a small Brewhouse Favorite with chorizo, sun-dried tomatoes, onions, cheese, and Denali sauce. The spicy chorizo and tangy tomatoes were a great combo. The thin crust was excellent. Chewy with a nice crisp edge, and sturdy enough to hold all the toppings without getting soggy. Lots of seating, plenty of parking, and a fun atmosphere.

The employee shook his head to indicate they were closed. It took a few weeks but I made my back on Thursday afternoon. And the experience was solid. I started with the chips and salsa. I'm noticing a trend of some places charging for their chips and salsa. What's weird is the places with the most authentic chips often have one complimentary basket. And places like this with a price tag have the store bought variety. But the salsas were delicious (and the hot was even spicy!). I asked for a second mild salsa since the containers were pretty small. The tacos were good. I went for a carne asada and a Birria. The carne asada was on point. Hot and tasty without being salty. The Birria was a bit dry. The cheese helped a little. I removed one of the tortillas and dipped it in the salsas to get a little moisture to it. It made me wonder if consommé is not a norm for Birria. The restaurant was spotless and very nicely apportioned. Lots of seating for a place that looks so small from the outside.

The pictures online looked amazing, the menu looked streamlined and neat. Upon entering it is a super cute place and decorated very nicely. We enjoyed the artwork on display. Everything looked nice and clean, 8/10. Service was attentive and great. She was very quick and polite. No complaints here whatsoever! The food.... We were going to order calamari ($20) to start, but they were out. That's OK! No big deal. I decided we could just start with chips and salsa. This is not a free with your meal chips and salsa like other places but it's a reasonable $5. We received a big basket of tortillas and I enjoyed both red red mild and green hot salsas. The chips were good too. I ordered the chalupa plate ($21) and it came with two chalupas filled with chicken/potato and a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were good. I liked that it was refried black beans. I got through my first chalupa, moving the lettuce aside to check it out. I noticed my chicken was pre-packed type chicken slices. You know, the kind with "grill" marks you find at Costco that are ready for salads and already cooked. My heart sank. For the price point I was seriously expecting more. It is not difficult to roast chicken fresh and shred it for dishes... My partner ordered the burrito special ($25) and while it was a MASSIVE thing that could feed you 3x easily it was subpar to him he told me later in the car. While I did not partake in dessert I did check out the little menu on the table. While I know the odds of desserts being made in house are low, I always hope so. The desserts here are from Sweet Street Desserts which is a wholesale chain, so I passed. I'm sure they are tasty, but just not for me when going out to eat. Unfortunately I don't think this place is worth the cost of the food vs the quality. They would need to up their food quality and freshness game to bring us back...
