Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. This location appears to be getting their parking lot repaved, but they are open Service is friendly and they are close to several area hotels. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. Well, I ran away from home on April 22, 22, and I know y'all are shocked! Lol! I ended up in Jackson because they have a Zoo. I'll review that next. Because I was alone I didn't want to drive too very far for something to eat. I tried to get into a few different places, bar and grill type place and I don't know if it was because it was a Friday night or what but I never managed to get in so I gave up and decided to find a faithful Waffle House. You. Can always count on Waffle House! I've been to good one and bad ones. This one, for the most part was great! Parking was fine, they weren't crowded and I was greeted as I entered. I found myself a booth as the seats at the front were taken. No one came right over so I waited patiently for a minute or so and then Nina came over!! She apologized for my wait and explained that she was on the clock yet but realized that I'd not been given a menu or anything. Nina was precious!! She was pleasantly, when her counterparts weren't! And she wasn't even "working" yet! She didn't have to yet. After taking my order, just a hash brown bowl with crispy bacon, she came back to my table and said that he was going to cook my food herself "so it's done right". Lol!! I could tell that she was already struggling and she'd just gotten there. I took the opportunity to just love on her a bit. Everyone is going through something, y'all! Give people a break! My hash brown bowl was good but meeting Nina made my whole trip worthwhile! I'm grateful for her sweet spirit and willingness to serve me when it wasn't her responsibility to just yet. So we decided to try the Waffle House since it was close to our hotel. We walked in and we were quickly greeted. We sat down and a nice young girl was quick to bring us menus. The menu was basic which is a good thing. The other good thing was the prices. It is cheap to eat here. A full breakfast meal with a waffle and coffee in California would cost well over 17 bucks. Not here at the Waffle House. Their full meal and waffle was $7.40. That is super super cheap. The food came out pretty fast. The food was pretty good. It was basic but good. I had no complaints at all. I would definitely come back if I was ever back in Jackson (really doubt I will be back in Jackson). For anyone from out of the area, make a stop at the Waffle House. these waffle houses are the hot spots to come to after the club. like no joke come here between midnight & 4am it'll be a packed house! wouldn't recommend between these hours because you're likely to get ignored or be seated because it's so busy and crazy! you have to be assertive & persistence to get your food ordered & it's essentially a headache when you are tryna just get in n out. the food was DELICIOUS but it messed up my stomach really bad. was immobilized for hours due to an upset stomach n groin. would recommend if you are hungry on a budget but not the best quality of food. read more

Stumbl e upon this Waffle House looking for something to eat before my museum visit. I wanted to sit at the high top counter but it was dirty, before I could say anything, Ms. Bertha came over swiftly and cleaned the counter...like she read my mind! Then I ordered Waffle and Bacon...Waffle was really good...didn't need syrup and bacon was cooked perfectly...sometimes I have to ask for the bacon to be cooked longer but not at this location. Visiting here from Maryland where we don't have a Waffle House. Normally the food is great, staff is friendly and it is an overall good experience. Not the case this time. First, we stood at the door for about 10 min waiting to be seated before we finally just seated ourselves. The menus were sticky and gross. The waitress was nice but slow (mentally). She took our drink orders, then came back like 10 minutes later for food order but with no drinks. Our orders were simple but it turned into a complicated ordeal of repeating ourselves and clarifying. So we finally started to get our food and then beverages came sporadically throughout the meal, last drink (carton of chocolate milk) finally came about 3/4 into our meal. From the time the first plate made it to the table, the silverware followed about 10 minutes later. Some of the orders were wrong, but not too terrible. I never received my hash browns but at this point I didn't care. Some liked their food, others did not. I had the bacon cheesesteak sandwich which was pretty good. Scrabbled eggs were runny. Some of the beverages had floaters, which after watching their method for washing dishes, made sense. Luckily we werent in a hurry because it took forever to get our check. Which was hand written, and not legible so you couldn't really tell if it was accurate or not. But we paid it anyways and left. Overall it was an ok visit. Restaurant and bathroom facilities weren't the cleanest. We will most likely never come back to this location. read more
