My hope was to order room service from here while staying at the Westin just before Christmas. The hotel decorations were amazing and service was good. However, when I tried to order room service, I was told they no longer do this. I would have to come down to the restaurant, place a to go order, and then take it back up to my room. This was a bit disappointing. I had read some reviews and looked at photos and menu online prior to coming. The prices were what I'd expected for a 4 star hotel and restaurant. But, the food execution was terrible. The lady who took our order was delightful and helpful. The food was not good. The lemon ricotta pancakes were scorched. The food got cold very quickly. The sausage gravy and biscuit were not as good as Hardee's. Unless things have improved since Christmas, I would not recommend this place. I would recommend the Westin and the Soul Spa. read more

I've been staying at the Westin for the last couple weeks and I've popped into this restaurant a few times. Super consistent service every time and the food is wonderful so far I've had the red fish twice along with the salmon which I really enjoyed all. Tonight I'm gonna try that Mississippi catfish. I ordered the gumbo after reading people being pleased with it and I too was pleased with this dish. Great start to the meal. My buddy and I also ordered East Bay Shrimp and really enjoyed that appetizers. I treated myself to the Grilled Hereford Filet. Cooked as I ordered and definitely worth the price. We sat at the bar, which prompted me to order a martini, extra dirty, just how I like them. Bar tender wasn't overly friendly but she was professional and efficient. I was initially concerned by the bottled waters being handed out to patrons (boil water advisory and such), but Jamill (our fantastic server) promptly put our minds at ease. They changed the brunch menu from what it used to be and it used to be divine and also used to have bottomless mimosas but no longer have that. My meal was $87. I have my receipt. But they charged my card $204.00 without my authorization. I am so dam mad!!!!! This happened today.

I'll start with what not to order... * Eggs: Y'all these taste so bad. It was like they only used onion powder as the seasoning. No salt. No pepper. Just onion powder. I tried to mix it with the grits and that was bad for more reasons than just the onion-tasting eggs. * Grits: You know the instant grits in the pack? The ones that don't taste like much and texture is still grainy. Yeh, that's what they're serving in here. So those eggs I mentioned above did not mix well with these grits. * French Toast: These were aight. They tasted fine but I expected thick, fluffy, perfectly dipped in eggs, lightly toasted bread. What I got was thin, heavily soaked, almost burnt bread. But it tasted fine compared to the eggs and grits. Now what was good... * Omelette: 10 out of 10 recommend. It actually taste like eggs. The egg chef was so nice too! He did an amazing job with the omelette and had good conversation while waiting for it to be prepared. He was one of my favorites at Estelle's. He deserves a lil paid vacay for him and his wife of 30+ years. * Cinnamon Roll: Ooh, this was another hit. We got it as an appetizer and it almost had us fooled that everything else would be that good. Definitely recommend ordering. * Music: It hit hard! Really good selection of r&b and light jazz mixed with a live saxophonist. He was so good, I'd pay to see him again. Recommendations: * Staff: Our waitress was ok but she wasn't nice. She wasn't rude either but I felt like she didn't want to serve us. She didn't smile. She barely came to check on us. We had to wave here down for assistance and she took forever to clean the table. I'm sitting here looking at these stiff grits while typing this. But, she did her job. So... I guess. * I also recommend that the staff, as whole, look more put together. They looked tired and their outfits were dingy. I understand that people can only do what they afford but as a brand, their presentation doesn't fit the rest of the ambiance. * Also recommend better seating. Not in terms of space or not having enough seating but the actual seat. Clutch your pearls when you sit down because you are going to sink to the bottom of your chair fast. read more

Okay, I'm not going to say it's a Great restaurant... but my experience on 4-5 visits to the Westin says I'm happy to go back. Cocktails are quite good and the wine list is not bad at all, while food is above average. The burger is actually TOO BIG with 2 large patties and just too much meat. I know, right? We've had at least half the menu and while it's not 5 star dishes we've also been generally happy overall. Admittedly, we normally stay here when on the road and with a dog we often alternate between bar service, takeout, or room service but let's be honest - there aren't many better options in downtown Jackson. There are better/hipper places in town for sure, but if you're staying at the Westin or in the vicinity most people will be very happy with food & service from Estelle. The drink was vodka, orange juice and pineapple juice. Weird mix for sure. It was a just ok. As for dinner, I had the sausage and olive pizza and it was good.
