And one dish I ordered, the marinated crab salad came with what was barely any crab, literally, and the avocado wedges could have broken a tooth. The dressing was also far too vinegary. Unfortunately there are no nearby dining alternatives in this neck of the woods so I hope they are not getting complacent with a captive hotel crowd. read more

This place has potential but there were a few things that lowered my review. I ate breakfast here 3 days in a row. The first morning my omelette was amazing. But the last two mornings they were ok with the last day "brunch" being the worse. Everything tasted so basic, and for the price, I expected more. Also, I had the same server all three mornings and my service was subpar. The dinner menu was delicious. The chef came out and spoke to us about our special request and made sure we were satisfied with our meals. But we waited some time for our server. The restaurant opened at 4 and by 4:24, no servers had gotten to work to serve us. The receptionist was kind enough to get us set up but we were waiting awhile to be served. Second visit for a weekday lunch. Had the lobster salad. The price is twenty so it ends up being a pretty pricey lunch but very enjoyable meal. My coworker had the chicken kale and it looked delicious. She enjoyed it very much. We tried the Catalina Spring cocktail and was dying for a slice of their featured pecan pie but opted out. Couldn't see paying $10 for a slice of pie. The ambiance of this place is so lovely. Comfortable seating and gracious and professional staff. Well ran establishment. Only gripe is lunch prices should ran between 8 to 12 dollars and a comparable menu would be awesome. read more

This place was subpar AT BEST. I went here with my family after church, and we ordered our food at the same time. Only 3/4 plates were received and it had been 15 minutes. I called over the supervisor to ask her if she can check on the food, and she proceeded to tell me that my waitress will get it???? After our waitress chose to serve another table and completely neglect ours even though we were seated first. I ordered bottomless mimosas, and she only served me ONE mimosa. After my uncle went to the workers to cancel his food (it had been 20 minutes and the rest of the table finished their food), we talked to the supervisor and she said that they had brought out the plates for our table???? We all ordered at the same time but one persons meal never came, so clearly one of the workers forgot. We asked the supervisor if we could talk to the manager and she said that the manager was on call until close?? I understand you don't want to involve the manager, but even the supervisor was not being helpful. This was the most below average experience I have ever had, and the workers had the worst attitude. The food is good, but the service is HORRIBLE! If you need something, you won't be able to find your server. They'll bring your coffee, but there won't be sugar or milk, but you won't be able to find your server. You'll have to ask for your check, but then nobody will come pick it up. Finally you'll go to the bar to pay, but there will be nobody there. Eventually the server will see you there and cash you out. Of course, they don't have change, so they round it in their favor. read more

Happy Valentines Day!!!! Now on to this review! My husband made this reservation a month ago. He called to double check our reservation and they had us booked for 830 am not pm. They fixed it promptly! They failed to tell us however that for Valentine's Day the menu was a limited Valentines edition. Four appetizers to choose from, four entrees and four desserts. They meals ranged from $45 to $60. Wooow!!!! We didn't want to be rude and leave when we sat down so we decided to give it a chance. I was not happy with my appetizer and my Duck Breast that I ordered well done was medium at best. I'm sorely disappointed but to be fair I will come back on a regular day where the menu is back to normal and there is more variety. I hear Sundays have bottomless Mimosas and Blood Marys. I'm in town for a Conference at the hotel this weekend and I've been already twice since I got in town. The service is so good! Both waitresses I had were so sweet and made sure to come by and check on me plenty of times. I loved the food as well, I had the Caesar Salad one day, which comes with roasted tomatoes which was really good (had never had that before), and then I had the Italian panini the next time which was so good! Unsure when I'll come to Jackson again but I'd definitely make it a point to come here again if I'm passing through the area. I 10/10 recommend! read more

Shockingly good for a hotel restaurant. The atmosphere is great and the food was first rate. My wife got the ribeye and it was a great cut of meat, well over one inch thick and grilled correctly. The Brussels sprouts and bacon was a great side as well. I got the burger and fries and was please rly surprised. The burger was good with tons of meat, but so thick I had to eat it with a knife and fork (not my fav way to eat a burger), but it was still quite good. The fries were top notch. Disasterous! I don't know where to begin. The amateurish service, horrible food...We were a captive audience, as Estelle is one (if not the only) of the few restaurants to have lunch or dinner in downtown Jackson. Estelle, conveniently located at our hotel, nicely appointed with banquettes, a bar, and outdoor seating, had just opened with a rising chef spirited away from Market Parlor at the helm. We could have done much worse, thought we. Little did we know! We could have perhaps forgiven the wait for lunch order stretching well into a half hour in the practically deserted room. Or, the inexperienced waitperson, who couldn't even get a straightforward drink order right. She came to inform us that the wines by glass that we had ordered, were all out. But, she didn't know the names of the ones that the bartender offered as a replacement. To find out what the suggestions were took her three more trips to the bar with several minutes of endless waiting in between. Finally, the food arrived. Instead of one gazpacho we were served two. I had earlier corrected her pronunciation for the dish, which she took to mean that I had also ordered it. My husband upon tasting his, put his spoon down and wouldn't touch the rest. I tried it and almost spitted out. So sickly sweet, the chef-actually, we should call him the cook, because I don't think he's properly trained- had apparently added tons of sugar to green tomatoes to compensate for the tartness. Let's not even talk about the look of the soup, a yellow green viscousness, not unlike phlegm. The Caesar featured lettuce sliced so thin one needed a spoon to eat it, of course no anchovy, and a dressing that had nothing to do with the namesake salad. But, the deviled eggs, so quintessentially Southern, were boiled to death as the whites were beyond rubbery and fridge cold, and quiet frankly unforgivable. My order for local shrimp on toasts arrived the last. I had to inquire for the kitchen had forgotten. The topping and the sauce, so heavy handedly dolloped on top, had turned the barely toasted cardboard bread underneath into a soggy mess. I couldn't even lift it up from its serving platter onto mine. I asked for extra utensils. The waitperson handed them to me casually over the table, holding them by their handles. At that point, I couldn't help but laugh. There were three managers on duty at the restaurant, and here was one of the few tables, ours, having one mishap after another. Did anyone come to ask us about our experience, showed concern over things going so terribly wrong? Instead, we clocked them at the hostess stand, gossiping with each other. I welcome the ambition that led the Westin chain to take a chance on Jackson and open a modern hotel, and the adjacent stylish restaurant. However, the poorly trained staff, horrendous food, the management with devil may care attitude miserably fail to fulfill such a vision. read more

I actually really liked this restaurant while spacious it offers a very intimate feel and I also enjoyed the menu selection. Everything seemed to fit perfectly with the wine selections but it wasn't like "omg out of this world impressive." I had the roasted duck with mushroom risotto on one occasion and red fish with lobster another time. Such a unique dish and absolutely delicious. It was not a fault of the waitress but they were grossly understaffed and you could tell that they were not trained correctly. It took at least 10 minutes before I was acknowledged and the people that arrived b for me were acknowledged before me. The waitress debated that I was not her client and then the other waitress Argued as well as to my being her client. Then she completely abandoned me. The food was fine but when asked for a red wine I got a white. And waited forever for my bill. And there was a tall lanky person. Who seemed to be manager of sorts and he did absolutely nothing but hover and not assist at all.....useless. Instead of chipping in and helping they left it all to two waitresses to manage the whole restaurant. I should have heeded the advice of the other reviews and not come here.
