So nice that I was honestly disappointed. What can I say, I came in expecting grungy decor, dark interiors, and a high probably of witnessing a fist fight. None of that came to pass. The dining room, though small, is remarkably bright and retro-modern, nostalgic for a time of classic diners like you won't find in the south. Service was respectful and fast, food was hot and competent. And yes, before you ask, you CAN get a vegan option... Hash browns and coffee. It's not much, but it's honest work. I don't care what anyone has to say, Waffle House slaps. Is it gourmet? Far from it. Is it a cute little aesthetic restaurant for foodies? Nope. Could you make everything on the menu at home yourself (and better)? Of course you can. But that's not why you visit Waffle House. A 24 hour diner that originally was established for truckers, they offer the basic breakfast essentials and operate with speed, simplicity, and a damn good pecan (or chocolate chip) waffle. We always order the All Star classic breakfast, sub out the grits for hash browns (smothered, covered, and capped!), with sausage and a pecan waffle. For $11 (tax included!) and a hearty wake up call (it's quite loud with all the hustle and bustle), you get a quick, easy, hands-off dining experience. Our server, Eric, was awesome. I'm surprised by the large number of low reviews for this Waffle House. For full transparency I haven't read the reviews for any other Waffle Houses. This absolutely qualifies as a 5 star Waffle House. It's exactly what you'd expect: no frills, big portions, lots of grease, and strong coffee. Is it super clean? No. Are the staff overly friendly and constantly checking in on you? No, but they're helpful enough and are quick when you actually need them. Is the food magnificent and way better than what you could make at home? Absolutely not. That's not why you go to Waffle House. You want fast, hearty food that will take care of your bad day/hangover without having to do it yourself and not have to clean up? Then absolutely go to this Waffle House location. Walked in and was greeted by several people which was nice. Ordered a simple meal - they're All American with scrambled eggs, bacon - hash browns well done and smothered. I should have left when I saw food just sitting out. I got my silverware and the knife was filthy and covered in grease. Waitress nowhere around. I just wiped it off. Got my meal - sort of. Eggs and sausage. I didn't order sausage. She goes and just uses her hands to switch it out and brings it back. The eggs are cold. I say that and finally get a plate back with warm eggs and barely done hash browns, no onions. I asked where the onions were. The cook just made them and gave them to me on a separate plate. He asked if they were cooked enough (they weren't) but I said they were fine because they were in a pool of oil and I couldn't imagine they would get any better. The hash browns were sooo greasy. I know Waffle House is a "greasy spoon" style diner, but these were swimming in whatever they were cooked in. The bacon had an off taste, like it had gone bad. The entire meal was awful and the server never checked how the food was or if I wanted anything else. I left most of the food. The place was also filthy. Yeah - hard pass. read more

I found this gem of a Waffle that is closer to the Austin and Pflugerville city borders. It's a hidden gem to me because all are a like but very few where they are gem!! Why do I consider this place a gem? Well because for one I came here back to back in the same week. I wanted something to eat late night at 2am. So my little cousin and I came here because we needed our Waffle House fix! Everyone thought we were crazy after some big bbq we had at the house. But nothing fulfills your night like a late night snack at the Waffle. Today I came here with my son and my brother-n-law for another semi-late snack. It was my son's first time. My son ate all his food. The same cook was here from two nights ago.This homie can cook! I had to give the man prompts. Because his cooking skills are on point!! The whole staff here are cool. A friend randomly invited me to go to the Waffle House today, so we went since we both like the Waffle House. We received very good service at this location today. Our waitress was attentive and checked on us several times, and our food was good as usual. I am a Waffle House Regulars Club member and received a coupon for a free waffle with any purchase since I recently had a birthday (all Regulars Club members get a free waffle with any purchase for their birthday), so they were very nice and wished me a happy birthday. I asked if they give a free slice of chocolate pie for birthdays, and I was absolutely joking, but to my surprise, they gave me an entire free chocolate pie. On a Waffle House scale it's a 4* experience. On an overall restaurant foodie scale it's a 3* experience. But come on, Waffle House is not a fine dining experience and you can't compare it to such. It's fast food, accessible 24/7 (except for that one time I went to a Waffle House that was closed, gasp), and hits the spot. Like all my other Waffle House experiences this far the servers were friendly, the cooks were efficient, and the place was fast food restaurant clean (crumbs cleared up but occasional sticky areas). First of all, I love Waffle House. It is its own paradigm. If you've never been to one, it is a simple, diner that specializes in waffles and simple breakfasts. It is not in any way a fancy place. But it is one of my favorite breakfast places; although I don't get to eat here often because it is about 20 miles from home. I ordered hash browns all the way except no gravy, and a pecan waffle. Both were perfectly done and hit the spot. Service was also fast and friendly. Not sure why the negative remarks. But they deserve better. Perhaps people had bad experiences visiting at a busy time. Its unfortunate that for a small place like this, my theory is that they only review if there is a problem. I came on a weekday morning when they weren't very busy. I've been to this Waffle House a few times.. I've had both dine in and ordered take out. My take out experience was good, because my food was accurate and well prepared. I usually get the Texas cheese, egg and cheese omelette sandwich. This is my go-to sandwich here, it's very delicious. My dine in experience has also been good and even better than my take out experience naturally. I've been pleased with the service here. I'm not expecting find dining quality custom service at Waffle House. I expect my order to be cooked properly and accurately, my food to taste good and to be seated within a reasonable amount of time unless it's very busy. Not too much to ask. From my experiences here they've always met my expectations. This is definitely a Waffle House worth trying. I usually come here in the early weekday mornings or on n a Sunday or Saturday morning. Came in with my two friends after a show, around 12:30 am. It took a little while to be seated while they cleaned off the recently vacated tables, but once we were seated, DJ took our order and gave good suggestions (even offered our New Englander friend a sample of the grits before ordering). He was a rock star and knew the menu like the back of his hand. This restaurant was running well and the staff seemed to take Covid restrictions to heart. (Everyone was wearing a mask, that I saw). I am a huge fan of Waffle house for as long as I can remember. From living in GA and going to the "original" Waffle house, to living across the country and stopping in as many times as I can on the trip(s) I have a good idea of what Waffle house should offer. I would say this Waffle house is "standard". The reason I gave it 4 stars is because when I sat down, I wasn't getting any service however one of the waitresses saw that and came over to get me drinks and take me order. My actual server seemed to be in and out a lot so the lady who originally helped me ended up with a separate large tip. She is the only reason they are getting 4 stars (it would have been 3 stars). So here's the lowdown on this place. Service is just mediocre. The guy we had as a server was training someone but soooo rude. My family and I came here at 7am on a Saturday morning and there were only a few tables taken. They must have been going through a shift change because we saw many people leaving and coming in. We sat ourselves and gave them time to situate themselves. Many employees were looking at us but none bothered to come by to tell us they'll be with us soon. After more than ten minutes sitting down, we were finally given menus. A couple sat right behind us but they were helped almost instantly and their waitress was a lot more attentive. I feel that our waitress had too many things to do, she was taking to-go orders while helping us. We had to ask for our utensils because our food was served but were not given anything to eat them with and had to ask for some things a few times before we got it. We came here because I heard great things about this place but unfortunately we were not impressed. We ordered the all-star special and chocolate chip waffle. The waffles were inconsistent because mines that came with the special was really thin and my son ordered a regular size and his was fluffy. Everytime is visit Austin I go and find a Waffle House. The last 2 previous times we found one, it was not the nicest looking neighborhood but the staff and people were very nice. This time thinking that Waze was sending us to the same one, when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. First, it looked fairly new. The inside was very clean(including bathrooms) and the staff and service was amazing. One of the 1st thing we noticed that they had takeout window that served after 11:30. I thought that this was an excellent idea because it will keep the drunk and stupid from being a problem)even thought it seems to be in a nice neighborhood) but problems always seen to have a way to find you so you'll have to order and go when you get there. Waffle House is a cool spot first went to one in Atlanta which was great. I happened to come across this one on my visit to Texas at 1am and let me tell you it was definitely a great night! We didn't wait long and the cook Jaiha was great. No complaints on the food nor service he was funny, nice, and attentive. I wanted for my last Yelp review of 2019 to be about 2nd chances and my experience at this Waffle House location is the perfect example of this. When this new Waffle House location, near my house opened up earlier this year I took my 13 yr old son to go eat because he had never been to a Waffle House before & he was super excited about getting to check out a Waffle House wellllll,..that 1st experience at this new Waffle House was bad..really bad...1 star bad. We both ordered breakfast combos that came with eggs, toast, bacon, biscuits, hash brown, and a waffle. The waitress brought all our food out except for our waffles. I figured for sure our waffles being the main event would be coming out shortly after but nope, that didn't happen. We literally ate all of our food & finally about 30-35 mins after 1st getting our food we then got our waffles. I did ask about our waffles but that didn't make a difference. We also kept having to flag our waitress for refills on drinks, took forever for us to get our ticket, & a few other things that needed improvement. I didn't write a review on that experience because this location was fairly new at that time..maybe a few months of being opened so I figured they just needed time to work out those new location kinks. And guess what?! I was correct! :)) My son and I went back to this Waffle House location recently and we had a VERY tasty and satisfying experience! The true test was how long would it take to get our waffles and they passed! :)) We ALL deserve 2nd chances to make it better when you didn't get it quite right the 1st time is my motto! Its 1:07 and I walk in & see 2 tables open. All other seats & booths are taken. One waitress says its ok we can sit & another (badge name is Alexis) says we can't sit down, ONLY to go orders. When we sat down in a booth there were probably twelve people behind the counter and in the back room but no one would take our order. Finally I said something to a manager and a yound lady finally took our order. When our order arrived, she had forgotten our ham and our grits. Our eggs were cold. Our ham was cold.
