Yes, it's fast food, but it's better quality food than you get most places, and it's a good deal "cleaner" than what's being served at the various burger and chicken joints with big ad campaigns. It's also a pretty good deal. The larger "plate lunches" feature a protein, 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad and grilled veggies, and go from about $16 - $19 depending on your choice of protein -- but, the Mini Plates, which reduce the amount of food to a more manageable portion, are several bucks cheaper. In the end, my mini plate and a small fountain drink cost me $12.99 including tax -- that's pretty much the same as a Big Mac meal, but better tasting, better quality, and with much fewer calories. I ordered the BBQ Beef Mini Plate with double Macaroni, no rice. It came with some fresh, grilled veggies as well. The beef was cooked with a flavorful, slightly sweet sauce that worked really well in tandem with the creaminess of the mac salad. And by the way, that Mac Salad is really enjoyable, with shavings of fresh carrots and just the right amount of mayo. I alternately added a touch of the house hot sauce just to change things up a bit, and that made for a pretty perfect bite. Service is friendly, though they do encourage you to use their automated kiosks for ordering. I try not to do that because I feel it undermines the job stability of the employees, but today I had to use one because the person running the counter was very busy with to-go orders. The environment is typical fast food, with formica tables and metal chairs, but everything is clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was very well maintained. It's nothing fancy, but the food at Ono Hawaiian is very tasty and very affordable, and the portions are generous. In today's economy that's a total win-win situation.

There must've been 20 customers sitting at tables and only one table had food. That meant that there were 19 people ahead of us before we got served. I consider this poor service at lunch when people only have an hour to eat. I asked the Server why they were behind today thinking maybe they were a person short. She just looked at me and said, it takes time. Now I was with a 82-year-old Neighbor who had clipped a coupon so she could take me to lunch. I was not about to undermine her generosity by commenting. But I did take note. I ordered the mixed chicken with Katsu chicken and barbecue chicken. I'm including a picture of the Katsu chicken, because if you can find Chicken anywhere inside of it, let me know. It was a sliver of chicken and all breading. The barbecue chicken was it usual good self, but it just occurred to me that this restaurant was not giving the same level of service or the same quality of food that it used to, which was very disappointing. Anyway, I believe in giving all restaurants another chance. And since this has always been one of my favorites, I'm determined to go back. Hopefully my next experience will be better.

Because Chick-fil-A chose to use the same building, this Chick-fil-A looks and feels different from any other location. Entering is like going back in time, as the original building, seating, counters, etc., were left intact, giving guests a nostalgic feeling that they were dining in the 1950s, The building is well preserved, clean, and well organized. Employees were very friendly, happy, and hardworking. The food was typical Chick-fil-A, delicious and well prepared. The ambience is straightforward, featuring only outdoor seating. They also have a solid drive-thru game (when they aren't having an anniversary promo). I forgot how much food you get for the money. I just bought the salad bar to go and I got a huge salad, chicken wings, meatballs and clam chowder for $14.95. It looks exactly how I remembered it looked 30 years ago in a different state. They are all comfortably the same.
