I also appreciate the quirkiness of the decor and donuts they make (they have a little alien statue just outside the shop for photos/selfies that I found pretty amusing, although I am not a big photo/selfie person myself). I don't understand how this place is so highly-praised. Every donut I've tried from this place has been a total sugar bomb. Don't get me wrong, the flavors and textures of the donuts are on point but the sugary thick icing layer gets in the way of actually enjoying it (you can see it in my photo of the maple old fashioned). I tried to scrape most it off, which was difficult because of how sticky the icing was. The old fashioned had a good crunchiness which was the best part of the 2 donuts I had. The banana cream pie sounded interesting but the cream inside was so incredibly artificial tasting that it made banana flavored Laffy Taffy taste natural... and again the white glaze was way too sweet. Had to toss this one halfway. It's frustrating because their donuts could be good if it didn't feel like they were trying to deliver me a sugar overdose at the same time. read more

I found myself at the Denver airport again so I wanted to pick up some doughnuts to bring home with me. Luckily there was no line so I was able to order right away. I ordered four doughnuts. I asked for a box (instead of a paper lunch bag) because I was taking the doughnuts home with me on a flight. The cashier said they only do boxes for 6 or more doughnuts. I indicated that I was traveling and didn't want the doughnuts to be smashed. I offered to pay for a box. She became frustrated and said they are only for 6+ doughnuts but she would give me a box this time. My issue isn't with the service because I know the cashier was just following Voodoo's policy. However, I think that Voodoo should provide better materials to transport doughnuts for travel/flights. A lunch bag is not ideal for traveling. read more

Voodoo is the best place to get a snack in the Denver airport--you'll get the most bang for your buck for sure, with nearly all other options at the airport being overpriced! The doughnuts are large and delicious and super affordable. They have lots of flavors, including vegan ones, and the menu seems just as large as the non-airport locations. I had the vegan chocolate covered option, and it was fresh and tasty. The decor is fun (as it pokes fun at the notorious conspiracies theories about DIA), and this shop sells fun merchandise. Service was fine too. The only reason why I am subtracting a star is because the menu offers a range of prices. I did not know how much my doughnut would be until the cashier rang me up. The exact price for each doughnut was not listed on the menu on the board or on the menu online. I was paying with cash, so I just had to hope that I had enough cash for whichever flavor I chose. Luckily this was the case, but it would have been embarrassing to have to say "never mind" after the doughnut is already in the bag and then choose another flavor. To find one in the Denver International Airport just gave me a big smile and a reason to while away the long layover. And like all Voodoo Doughnuts should, not only did they have donuts, but they had plenty of merch and displays to create the vibe. I pass through DEN a lot and was finally in the mood for a donut. The maple old fashioned is a good donut that's a bit crispy on the outside, but the maple flavor was a bit weak. I am not sure who is the baker at the DIA location, but there is room for huge improvement. The cinnamon sugar tasted like it was fried in old grease oil and a day old. The maple bar was again, a huge disappointment, not fresh, frosting thick, dry and cracking. The blueberry tasted the same as the cinnamon, fried in old grease oil, but with a shiny clear glaze on top. What a waste of expensive products. Ok so now I see why everyone is going crazy for Voodoo Donuts! I purchased the Banana Cream and the Voodoo Doll. I sat right outside the shop and ate the Banana Cream donut. Oh My!! It is Delicious! They are a good size and one was plenty for me, but I can't wait to fly through this airport again just to get another donut. I'm bringing the Voodoo Doll home to my husband. It was a nice surprise to find a Voodoo Doughnut, founded in Portland, OR, in 2003, at the the Denver Airport. I spied it on the food hall level and made my way over. Nice, bright, and staffed by some friendly folks, I browsed the offerings on the menu and on the doughnut carousel. Not wanting anything too fancy or big, I settled on one classic sprinkle cake and it wasn't priced high as expected for an airport: $1.87 plus tax! Can't go wrong with Voodoo Donuts! I promised my partner that I would grab us a box before I got on my flight back home. I got in the line around 9:50am, and to my surprise, it was already SO LONG. This place is popular; it seemed like everyone wanted to buy these donuts. Who can blame them? They're known for having some of the most creative and largest donuts ever. Thankfully, most people were ordering just one donut for themselves, so the line moved quickly. I asked to have their famous "Voodoo Doll, Butterfingering, Old Dirty Bastard, and Apple Fritter" plus a bag of their "Magic Roast" whole bean coffee. The cashier said they were out of the Apple Fritter and Old Dirty Bastard, so I recommended he pick out a couple of his favorite donuts to surprise me with. He chose the, "O' Captain my Captain" and "The Homer" to replace my two missing items. When I returned home and opened my box of donuts, I realized that he put FIVE donuts instead of four- the last one being the Old Dirty Bastard. Looks like he misspoke and there was one left, and he still was kind enough to let me have extra food- so I got more than what I paid for. That really made my day. Leaving DEN on 7.29.24, I had a couple of hours layover. I decided to get something to eat... Located upstairs of Gate B, on the Food Court level, it's hard to miss the chandeliers, pink wallpaper, and alien wall mural. Looking at the picture menu and rotating display case helps decision-making a lot! The Voodoo Doll Donut was intriguing, but a bit spooky. I heard that it's filled with red jelly... like blood! Haha! Some good friends of ours brought home Voodoo Donuts from their recent trip here. They were sweet to think of us. Anyways, we had some of their classic donuts. Raised Glazed: raised ring with glaze. This didn't travel well, but toasted back up and it was pretty good! As all glazed donuts go, it's better to eat this right away. Raspberry Romeo: raised shell filled with raspberry and topped with a glaze. This was my favorite. Maple Old Fashioned: buttermilk style cake with maple frosting. Good cake donut and held up to being transported back to SJ, CA. The frosting had a good maple flavor and thankfully not sickly sweet. They have some interesting flavors. The donuts were everything that everyone described. Fresh, flavorful and delicious. I loved the fritter and the maple bar. YUM!!! We were here on a quick layover and weren't sure there would be enough time, luckily there was a only a line of about 5 people and the staff were working really fast to move people along. They had menu cards, so that you didn't need to wait until you were at the counter to know what options there were. Still had some delay with the slow, indecisive people. The displays, counters were neat and tidy. It was small, so you might have a hard time pivoting if it's crowded and you have a carryon or baby carriage. I definitely recommend this location for a sweet treat during your layover. They will give you a bag as well if you are planning on taking them with you, which is what I did. read more

This is one of my go-to spots first discovering it in Portland than on Colfax. I needed to grab something on the way out of the airport so I figured I'd check the wait. To my shock, there was no one where at 8:30am. Then she rang me up for my one Portland Cream - $4.75. And that explained that. People complain about inflation and high prices and they just aren't going to drop $5 on a single donut. Drawn in by the name, pink walls and sparkling chandeliers, I found myself enjoying the mouth watering menu of donuts. The staff were eager to help me choose some of the all-time favorites. Of course, I had to try the voodoo donut! This is a chocolate covered voodoo doll shape with raspberry filling. It was fantastic! My favorite is a maple bar.
