The employees are lovely and I like how all the options are displayed in front of you to make an easy choice. However, each item is incredibly pricey for what it is. Both times I have gone have been on days that Bakery Four has been closed. If both are open, my choice is, unfortunately, not here. A tiny croissant sandwich and 2 little donuts was $30. Everything is premade, so you can't make any substitutions or changes of any kind. Just not worth it for me, although I've heard from others that the donuts are good (I'm not a fan of donuts). First few visits were great! So great that this became a destination for us. The last couple visits, however, it looks like something has changed with the dough. Either the recipe has changed or they're making the donuts and donut holes (especially the chocolate cake ones) smaller. They didn't look as appealing and the flavor is just... missing something. Went at noon and unfortunately almost everything was sold out- which clearly it's very popular and loved but it would've been nice having more options to pick from. Went with the hibiscus tea and the Boston cream- the Boston cream wasn't anything special and the hibiscus was refreshing. Do wish for a bit more donut variety. Obviously this isn't Winchell's or Dunkin' but freshness? You really cannot beat The Salty. My Texas friends have been raving about The Salty for ages. Unfortunately never tried it with them but now we have one here in Denver. Score. They have a handful of standard staples and then they do donuts for holidays, special events, the Super Bowl for instance. That being said this isn't a donut you grab and eat later that day or even the next morning. FRESH. Please eat these within twelve hours. Really just speaks to their quality but it's not a break room donut that hangs around for a day or two and the chemicals nuclear apocalypse preserve them like a Twinkie. Hot and cold drinks are available. Water. Juice boxes for the kids. Beloved Coke a cola. Standard cold brew, cortado, americano, lattes, and matcha. But they also do special seasonal drinks and drinks that pair exceptionally well with their donuts. Inside you have a handful of seats but for this area of Tennyson/Berkley it's more of a grab and go. You have the nearby park and obviously all the shops up and down the street. Plus what cute cups and boxes for donuts. It's a statement piece for sure. What a cute little donut logo. I somehow feel that the Call Your Mother bagel and Salty Donut are cousins at best. Seriously, check their fun logos! You can order to go online via their app/website/ or the wonderful InKind app. They even have a to go window so you can stay outside with your furry friend and get your caffeine and sugar fix to go. Staff is quick and friendly. Lines can take a bit on the weekends but during the weekday it's a quick in and out. They open early too so anytime before nine you can pretty much order and go. I am here for this donut shop! Firstly, the ambiance is perfection. It's relaxing and inviting and clean- which is more than I can say for most donut shops. I also love that they have a take out window in case you're on the move. The staff is so kind. Everyone seemed genuinely happy and helpful. Their mood truly dictates the vibe of an establishment, and I just felt happy in here. We got the chocolate donut, and the plain glazed, a regular latte, and a brown sugar chai. Everything was great! The donuts were soft, not dense which I appreciated. Neither donut was too sweet, but the chocolate one was obviously rich because my choco loving child didn't finish hers. Pro tip- don't leave them on the counter overnight in the box. Stale in the morning. Oops. 5 stars! It was great to visit the The Salty Donut, I've been following them online for a few years and finally got to enjoy their treats. I picked up the GF blueberry and maple as well as the brown butter and salt cake donut in addition to a lemonade. The staff was so nice, confirming if I was taking anything to go and offering to sweeten the lemonade as it could be tart (considering it's homemade and fresh). The lemonade was not overly sweet, thanks! And the GF donut was surprisingly moist which can be hard with GF item at times. I'm a big fan of a blueberry cake donut so this was a great nod to the original. The brown butter donut will have to wait! Easy to find this cute shop on Tennyson Street which I always enjoy the shops on this street. We were greeted by a smiling friendly order taker/cashier at the counter who patiently answered our questions on the unique flavors of the donuts and drinks. I ate the fresh cafe con leche donut filled with cream and drank a refreshing hibiscus-lemonade cold tea. My partner chose a warm ham and cheese croissant and drank a hot black coffee. The coffee tastes great and I always take it black. The croissant was warm with ham and Asiago cheese filling. The Cafe con Leche was constructed from a light buttery pastry dough with a sweet creamy filling and sugar coating. Sweet, but not overly so. So excited to try this place and it did not disappoint! Nice clean shop and very friendly folks at the counter. The donuts all looked really tasty and sizable, although I was a little surprised that the amount of selection available at the time (around 1pm) was a bit limited. Not sure if that was a staffing/supply issue or if they simply sold out because the ones we did get were super tasty! We did the Pistachio Cannoli, Cafe con Leche, and the Original Glazed! All of them were perfectly sweet and flavorful without being overpowering, fantastic texture, avoided that over-oily/greasy feel, and paired super well with the drinks! OK, I love donuts and walking up to this little shop off of 39th and Tennyson smelled so wonderful of fresh donuts and fresh coffee. They have a walk up window for orders that were placed online, which is very cool. They actually had an open window where you could actually watch them doing their magic making donuts other other specialties. I was greeted immediately when I walked in the door, which I love stood in line a little bit longer than anticipated but that's OK it was worth the wait! So I ended up with one of the glazed donuts and then I purchased the French toast sticks as well. Both were super marvelous. I really enjoyed them. I first ate at the Salty Donut in Dallas and it was one of the only donuts I liked with filling (I am a glaze donut type of girl). When I found out they were opening one in Denver, I was so excited for it. I need to go to the physical location one of these days to see if the space is as cute as Bishop Arts location but sadly, I only their donuts through DoorDash. The donuts are very pretty. I had a normal glaze donut and the banana cream. I believe their flavors rotate but the banana was actually quite good and tasted like a banana pie. The cheese savory donuts would've been better had I thrown it in air fryer so the cheese melted a little. The matcha was pretty weak for me so I would suggest getting a different drink or coffee. Salty donuts? Whaaaat? I was not sure what to expect from a place called The Salty Donut but I'm glad I went against my initial reaction and tried it out. I had their traditional glazed donut and man it was delicious. The breading (not sure if that's the correct terminology) has a much nicer and chewier consistency than regular donuts. It turns out it is brioche. Very tasty. The donut was also not too sweet and was overall very good. I would be interested to check out their other donuts as well but at a minimum of $5/donut when factoring tax and tip, it does make me a bit hesitant. Last thing I would like to mention is that the store is absolutely beautiful so it would be a nice place to avoid any extreme temperatures and/or have a donut and a nice talk with company. The Salty is the ultimate spot for a sweet treat and a coffee. Their website states they have "artesian donuts". I found the donuts to be thick, cake-like treats with unique fillings and frosting. I am not usually a donut gal, but I love these tasty treats! The Cookie Monster donut is a staple - you gotta try it this masterpiece filled with cookie dough frosting. In addition to donuts, they have sweet and savory pastries. I tried a strawberry frosted pop tart, and I'd imagine this exactly what a pop tart wants to be. The crust was superbly flaky and the icing tasted of real strawberries. I have had the egg and potato croissant roll and it is a nice savory way to start the day. They use intelligentsia coffee for coffee drinks, which is good quality. The flavored lattes are pretty sweet, but I find them to be balanced and drinkable. I love the large interior with lots of seating nooks. You could absolutely come here to work remote or to catch up with a friend. There are gluten free and vegan donuts but not both vegan AND gluten free. They offer alternative milk for non-dairy coffee drinks. You can order ahead online. They also have a walk up window if you want to order and not go inside, for example, if you are walking your dog on Tennyson, you can order without entering. For being not the biggest sweets guy, I can get down with The Salty! The Florida-founded brand recently opened in Denver and they are taking the Tennyson area by storm. These are fancy donuts, I'd go as far to even call them artisan. They are sweet, filled and topped with unique ingredients, and made with lots of TLC. I'm sure some people will scoff at the sticker price and compare them to the big corporate names. But if you want to compare, these are works of art so don't be surprised when you order a dozen and it's more than $9.99. The store itself is beautiful. You can tell they put good money into the build out. They use Intelligentsia Coffee, which I used to drink a ton of back in the day. Full coffee bar/espresso machine is a nice touch, even though there are a ton of options within a stone's throw. Donut highlights for me include, in no particular order: Candied Pistachio & White Chocolate (#MindBlown), Pumpkin Pie Cake, and Apple Crisp. For the classics, the Traditional Glazed and Brown Butter & Salt are magical. If I'm gonna have a donut, I'm not going to places like Dunkin' or Krispy Kreme. A lifesaver for those busy days. The donuts we chose were the: strawberry shortcake, honey butter cinna-bun donut, brown butter & salt donut, pb&j croissant (last two not pictured because we were so excited to try it and forgot to snap a photo). Good textures and great flavor concepts, but they lacked depth, which is why they didn't get a full 5 stars. We were hoping for richer flavor that didn't dissipate as quickly as these donuts did.
