For all the time I've spent in this general area, I don't know how or why I have never been to Bardo before now. It is such a gem! My sister used to go regularly when she was in school and let me know that the hours were super awesome for that routine - open at 6am, closed at midnight. Perfect for an early morning study session or late night cram. Or if you're just in the mood for all-hours coffee! Parking is admittedly a bit cramped in the front and pretty awkward to get out of if it's busy, but there is a lot behind the building with more space. There are a surprising number of tables and comfy chairs inside, and the vibe is kinda retro which my sister and I both really love. Their menu is pretty big and they also had a ton of holiday drinks to choose from. My sister has raved about the coffee they use (kaladi), so I got a drip coffee and since I wanted a little festive treat, I also got "the grinch" lol, which was a matcha latte with oat milk and pistachio. Take a wild guess which cup was mine in the photo. My sister got a hazelnut latte, which also came out really pretty. The coffees were ready very quickly, and we were able to find a little table near the back of the shop. Our three drinks (all 12oz) came out to about $16 which I think is pretty on par with specialty coffee drinks, so I felt it was worth the price. The one girl we interacted with at the counter was super friendly, too! Ambiance was great staff is nice but not careful with allergies. I have a bad dairy allergy and ordered a vegan burrito for myself and a chorizo burrito for my husband. The to go bag had a chorizo burrito labeled and another burrito with no label so I asked to confirm it was vegan because I saw cheese coming out of it when I unwrapped it before we left. They confirmed it was vegan and that the vegan burrito had vegan cheese. we walked home, I took a bite and it was full cheese and bacon. I called and asked if I got the wrong order and they said it was human error & refunded me. The people are really nice but I don't really trust them. My hope with this review is that others with allergies really thoroughly check their orders. I'd also like to see the restaurant put protocols into place to make sure orders are correct so that no one gets severely sick in the future. (Especially when they double check the order with staff.) Bardo is a special community spot. The parking can be tough, there is a lot in the back that is a bit small and it can be hard to pull out from the front spaces back onto 44th. The coffee and food options are great though. Representation from a lot of local businesses. The banana oat bread is some of the best I've ever had. I usually don't enjoy Kaladi (roaster) coffee, but it isn't noticeably in my favorite drink, the Dente, which is a latte with mocha, orange, and cinnamon. The team is friendly and keeps things moving even when it is busy. The space itself is large and has lots of different tables for groups or people working. They also have a paid printer situation which is helpful. read more

My coworker and I come here regularly to get work done - incredible they're open until midnight, not that I want caffeine that late. Bummer they no longer serve beer in the late afternoon, even though some of the business photos reflect old times. Parking is okay. There are a few spots in front but otherwise find somewhere on the street. I usually get the Blackmoor coffee with syrup. Very caffeinated. There's so many beverage options! Stopped in on the way to work and ordered a vanilla latte and a blueberry almond croissant. Both were delicious! A lot of their baked goods selection comes from Rebel Bakery, and the croissant was one of the best almond ones I've had - the blueberry jam in the center was super nice. The latte was tasty as well, and not overly sweet. They had a lot of fun speciality drinks too, and I love a chai which it seems like they have a bunch of options to try in the future. I use to love coming here to get work done as my schedule is not a normal 9-5. Unfortunately, after today I will never be returning to this business. My partner and I came in and ordered two drinks, like we normally do. When we asked for wifi codes, the girl taking orders smugly said "policy is 1 code per order". I informed her there are two of us, we ordered two drinks, and we both needed to use the wifi. She stated "it works for two devices". I explained that i understood that, however I use two devices for work, and would need another code for my partner. She turned to the other girl working on bar, ignoring me, and said "isn't the policy ONE code PER order?" to which her coworker responded "Yup!", then proceeded to ignore me and act as if I did not exist standing infront of her. I asked, I'm sorry, i'm confused? I come here all of the time, and was even here yesterday and was able to get two codes? Again, she tells me basically kick rocks, "they didn't follow policy" ??? I asked, so if we ordered our two drinks separately, you would give me another code?" another "Yup!" response. I just asked for my drinks to go and left, and I was unable to work due to the ignorance of this employee. Upon checking their website that claims free wifi, I called another location to confirm this "policy" with a manager. I was informed that i was essentially lied to by these two girls, and that no policy like that exists. The only policy they have around wifi is that it comes with a purchase, and there is no "limit" on how many "per order". It's really sad but this employee ruined my experience of this place. i try my hardest to be a respectful customer as I use to work as a barista (so i understand the frustration of customers coming in, ordering one drink, and not leaving until close). My intention was not to be a burden, I typically order a drink every 2 hours (the wifi limit) to be courteous to the business. I understand everyone has a bad day, but it is unacceptable to essentially refuse to acknowledge one of your regulars as a human being who is speaking to you. Met friends here on a Friday morning, and wow - I was surprised at how busy this place was. The location is alright, but it's not incredibly walkable so the amount of customers on a random Friday morning speaks volumes. Seating feels limited as you walk in, but there are lots of options on all sides of the counter, so much bigger than it appears at first glance. I wasn't able to find parking in the lot, but there are lots of street parking options nearby. And, their hours! Open from 6 am to MIDNIGHT. Wow. Good to know. I ordered the Blackmoor, their cold-brew coffee steamed with A LOT of heavy whipping cream - very smooth & super-caffeinated. It's usually served with a little heavy cream, don't be afraid to be like me - more is better! Also grabbed a piece of banana bread. Hungrier? Sandwiches, pastries and burritos - locally made are also available. Working? Free wifi is available and Bardo has outlets everywhere. We weren't on the clock, but we all noticed the small details. From what I can tell, the two main draws for this place are the hours (they're open late) and the atmosphere. It's kinda of a dive-y old school coffee shop. 10am on a Friday, and it was full of people hanging out and sipping on their lattes with friends. The coffee itself was fine - about what you would expect from a local coffee shop, as opposed to a chain. Because it was busy, it did take awhile to get my coffee. It's fine as a local coffee option, but the parking situation isn't the best. They have a decent number of spots, but it doesn't seem to be enough for how popular it is. Came on a busy Saturday morning, no one was at the register to greet me even though they had just taken another persons order. Finally a guy saw me there and decided to help me. He was rushed and not friendly, no one was in line so I didn't understand the rush. He took my drink order but I wanted something to eat, He didn't give me much time so I just said give me a bagel, he looked at me like I was either crazy or didn't need the bagel. Great staff and great coffee; much better than competitors. They open at six every morning, which is great for those of us who like to get an early start. Problem is they always staff with just one person from between six and seven every morning; this can lead to some significant back ups and delays with others, trying to get an early cup of coffee. I don't understand why management does not add another person for the 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock shift in the mornings; I have turned around several times when the line is sticking out the door at 6:15 in the morning. I am not the only one who does not go in; I've seen others turn around and leave. Sides the opportunity to make more money, I think it is a staff safety issue as well to have more than one person in the store early in the morning. Great spot for late night working. I'm visiting Denver and found that most coffee shops here close very early, usually at 4-5pm and Bardo was one of those rare places that open until midnight. Ambiance that reminds me of a grandma's cozy 1970s basement (or a diner, if you ask Tim) concrete brick walls, wooden flooring with woven fabric couches and chairs. Bustling and loud at 9am on a Saturday but still able to carve out a space for ourselves to sit and relax. I'd say the coffee here gets a 4 star, but the feel and environment could get a 5. Its definitely a unique cozy feel that i enjoyed a lot. one of my favorite parts is the hours. Bardo is open till midnight which allows for some cozy late nights hangs taking back to college days. I'm looking forward to some evenings here in the fall and winter. Amazing and friendly service. The staff will sit and walk you through the whole menu in detail and almost anything on their menu can be modified to your dietary needs. You get a Wi-Fi code from the cashier after your order something. Only thing is that they limit Wi-Fi access to 1.5 hours. You'll get kicked out of the WiFi automatically. I understand that they want people sitting there all day to do work. But that definitely limits me. I don't want to cafe hop if I need to get more work done.
