My son met a friend here for lunch today and brought back requested items to eat at home. It was outstanding. The fruits sandwich made with shokupan bread was light and fresh, an excellent pick-me-up. This is a standard Japanese snack done beautifully. The mixed berries (a Danish made with croissant dough) was a delight in looks and taste. Neither item was excessively sweet. They were just right. The beef curry wrapped in dough, crusted in panko crumbs, and deep-fried was excellent. The curry itself had real flavor and zest, and the surrounding crust was delicious too. Not only a great accompaniment, but also a very cool way to eat curry with your bare hands. A very generous serving too. My brother got the most beautiful-looking chocolate croissant! And my son bought himself a chocolate cornet, which surprised me by being soft baked dough. Haven't tasted them, but I couldn't wait to post this review. I look forward to trying something with cream cheese or custard next time. Unfortunately they were out of the bacon epi, but that happens with bakeries. Good advice to call the day before if your heart is set on a particular item. We were just lucky to get the rest of the items on our list on a Saturday at lunchtime. If I compare this to any of the Asian bakeries I frequent in NYC, this place is not very good - prices here are double what they would be in NYC and bread in Denver always sucks. However, for Denver, this is a good concept. There's nothing like it in the area. I do enjoy red bean and a custard. The music always sucks whenever I come in here though. You definitely want to arrive early if you want the best selection of bread. I dropped by at 9 AM on a weekday, but because the shop is so busy, most of the items were already sold out. If you get the chance, I highly recommend choosing the breads from the rack, such as the curry bread and cream donut, over the ones on the trays. The tray options, particularly the ones left in open paper packaging, tasted a bit dry by the time I ate them. The line does take some time to get through, but the employees are efficient and work hard to keep everything moving. The crowd is a lively mix of people grabbing their morning caffeine with a pastry and groups of friends and families chatting. While a few of the tables do offer charging outlets, the space is on the louder side, so it might not be the best environment if you are looking for a quiet study spot. read more

I've been going here for several years. I lived in Japan many years ago so this place brings back a lot of good memories. I love that the pastries aren't overly sweet. Get here early on the weekend because the pastries go quickly. I like how you can grab various pastries that are already wrapped while waiting in line. They also have a nice cafe area to enjoy coffee with your treats. Street parking only. This place is located directly on Pearl Street. Staff is accommodating and friendly. My only regret is that I waited too long to return today. Kind of glad this place is far from home because if it was much closer I would be a very frequent customer and of course, indulging too much haha Seriously, check this place out if you haven't already. This adorable Japanese bakery/café makes some classic French bakery items (croissants, baguettes), but mostly puts a delicious and delightful Japanese spin on traditional bakery items. The shop is immaculate and elegant with a fresh, modern flair. It's also filled with light from a huge wall of floor to ceiling windows. A U-shaped niche of shelves holds all of the baked items. Each customer takes a tray and selects the goodies that suit their fancy. This system is much easier and much more fun than the usual bakery case. Every piece is carefully packaged to avoid contamination. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They're happy to warm up any item. There's also an extensive menu of coffee and tea drinks plus chai, kombucha, sodas, waters, and even homemade lemonade. Comfortable seating at tables and a counter is available for just over 20 people. There's a case next to the checkout counter with three traditional Japanese sandos, cheesecake, and some packaged drinks. We tried the bacon and egg bun and the custard bun. Both were absolutely delightful. We took home a tuna & egg sando, a peach Danish, and a cream cheese Danish with pistachio. A report on these will follow. There may be one on every corner in Japan, but this wonderful bakery is unique in Denver and you should check it out. Get there early. This place has recently become one of my favorite bakery spots in Denver. Located on S Pearl St it is located in a very nice walkable and central area. I really love the premium quality of all of their bakery products and the affordable prices. There's not too much seating but they do have 2 restrooms that are quite nice and have bidets that can be used if you're a customer. Tiny bakery that packs a punch! We arrived a little before lunchtime and most of the goods were still there but we could see what if we came earlier, we may have had a better selection. The employees were nice. What we swallowed: *FRUIT CROISSANT: Crispy layers, fruit was fresh and delicious. Great creamy filling. Yes the concept may be weird and not what you would order if you're looking for protein. But just think of it as the Asian version of the (British) cucumber sandwiches! Especially refreshing bun the summer and might be the second thing to run out the fastest. Curry beef puff is their specialty that may look a bit hidden, so make sure to ask for them. Other pastries all look and taste good. You almost can't go wrong. Drinks are plentiful and plenty good too! The only complaint is the lack of parking. Consider yourself warned. read more

If you have not been here then you are missing out! Everything here is delicious. I love the curry roll, the tuna roll, and the bacon epi. My 3 year old son chooses the bacon epi over a sweet pastry every time. My step daughter loves the chocolate croissant and my boyfriend loves their fruit pastries. The custard donut is also delicious and the chocolate chip cloud pastries are one of my faves. We also tried the fruit and whipped cream sandwich- definitely worth having at least once! These guys are killing it and the service is always good. I always buy a pastry for later because just one is never enough! First let me say that I bought two things and both were delicious. I have been to many Japanese and Asian bakeries and so my expectation may have been a bit off. This is a very small place and therefore I felt the selections were limited. But overall it is very tasty and if I am in the area I would definitely stop by again, but I would not make a special trip just to go there. The service was very friendly. read more

We stopped by during the farmers market and it was so good! I had the red bean donut which is amazing, I would definitely have it again. It had plenty filling and was yummy on the outside. I went on a Sunday morning around 10am and had to wait in a line out the door. With the Pearl Street Farmers Marker going on it's not surprising there was so much foot traffic. The flavors of both the custard (bun) and earl gray croissant were delicious. If the custard bun had been warm I think it would have been on fully a new level (more the reason to go early next time). I felt that the earl gray croissant was over baked, but the filling was good enough to make up for it. read more

This cozy little bakery would be absolutely dangerous for me and my wallet if I lived in Denver. It is easy to miss, but if you're lucky enough to stumble upon Tokyo Premium Bakery, it is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to the most perfect sweet treat. We came at around 2pm and the shelves were already pretty much cleared. We luckily snagged the last of the peach croissant and red bean bun. We also picked up a tropical fruit pastry and matcha latte. Everything was so good - especially the peach. Just look at how juicy and vibrant the color is! It was so fresh and sweet, the highlight of my entire day. The matcha was really good too. You can't go wrong with anything here. My new favorite bakery in Denver. The owners are so sweet and helpful! There are a few seats inside that could be good for working during slower hours, or just catching up with friends. Very cute space. Went during the pearl street farmers market so it was pretty packed, but the line moved quickly. It felt very minimalistic and clean inside. Decided to get the beef curry bun, peach croissant, and matcha cornet. The best thing by far was the beef curry bun.... was super fresh and had a nice outside crunch, but soft and flavorful on the inside. Decent amount of beef on the inside as well (literally devoured before remembering to get a picture). The peach croissant dough was good, though I wish it was a peach jam instead of a whole peach. The matcha cornet was also decent, filling was good, but dough was a bit lacking in flavor and texture. Overall I would definitely come back here even just for the curry bun ‍ read more

OK yelp you failed us on this one. Beautiful clean and fantastic location. However, we came early on a Saturday morning and we were not impressed. The croissants were tasteless and hard despite being first thing in the morning. And almost like they had frozen them and defrosted them overnight. They were room temperature and some were even cold. The coffee was mediocre - something that you could get at the gas station. The person at the front desk, barely even acknowledged our presence. I would absolutely not recommend this place. read more

When we eat out we love a treat that we cannot replicate at home and is unique. TPB is certainly this! We have not had something that we don't like, but our favorites are the potato croquette sandwich and bacon twist. Sweet and savory are all delicious! Their caramel lattes are also some of our faves. Last time, the last tuna fish sandwich that we ordered fell on the floor- it's in a package, no biggie. But then our potato croquette was dropped and also fell on the floor (in a bag)- then served without a beat. That's a bit awkward and concerning. The breakfast muffin wasn't too good. The stuffing under cooked and very little eggs. The muffin is too crispy. Great cute little spot for baked goods in an 85 degree bakey like grab-and-go situation. Went in the late afternoon and they still had a couple of good items left - got a hot dog bread (my favorite), choco croissant and fruit tart. It's a bit small inside so can get a little cramped if there are people browsing. The girl at the front was friendly, no complaints. I will say my only thing I probably wouldn't get again is I found the matcha to be a bit bitter and discolored for a bakery with 'Tokyo' in it's name. If returning, I would try the coffee instead but to each their own! read more

It was time to pay homage to this bakery as the last visit to this store was two years or so ago. On a very warm Wednesday afternoon (this week) I had a chance to do so. I wonder why this store doesn't have a noticeable sign. I remembered when I went here for the first time, I passed it by without noticing it. That didn't happen the other day but it still looked inconspicuous in a way. It's as if it prefers to exist humbly. If you go here late in the morning or early afternoon most of the items are gone. Such was the case when I stopped by at/around 1:30pm. I managed to find a few good-looking things so I got them. Chocolate Banana (pastry) was very banana-y in the crater; so if you like bananas I highly recommend this one. I also got me a slice of cheesecake (the slices were inside the glass case instead of them being out in the open shelves. The cheesecake was so-so when I had a bite at home. I only ate less than half of it but the very next day I took another bite. Actually it tasted a lot better. I gave a little piece to my daughter and she liked it too. Service was prompt and friendly; a young man at the register said a quick "Hey how's it going?" upon arrival. Like the last time it was very clean inside. I didn't come home being super impressed with the experience but it wasn't a bad one either. I'll make sure to go early next time because I felt like I missed out on the variety. read more

So I'm wandering Pearl Street in Denver, CO on a beautiful morning looking to start the day off right, something sweet, a cup of coffee, and a healthy dump. I see Tokyo Premium Bakery just as the first rumble of my morning business declares itself. Place was busy, lots of pastries, decent seating, and a well used coffee apparatus behind the counter. I put an order in with the gentlemen, 6 foot Japanese feller. He wants to ask me about my day and where I'm from, but at this point I've got a groundhog twice the size of a Punxsutawney Phil trying to predict 6 more seconds of clean underwear. Coffee order in, throw me one of those hot dogs in a bun, pay the tab and bolt for the facilities. I walk in and shining like God's own throne is a crystal clean, authentic Japanese ass lickin' toilet. Forget the wheel or electricity--humanity peaked with Toto's butt-blasting miracle. It gets your stink hole cleaner than a preacher's collar, and I taint lying. I drop trou, plunk down on an 80-degree seat that tingles my spine, and let loose. Usually, I'm quicker than a jackrabbit on a date, but then I hit "rear." Boom--a warm, wet explosion hits my doo-doo door like Gene Simmons tonguing his prom date. I'm in heaven, glued to the seat, but I can't stay forever--folks might think I croaked. I cut the bliss, double-flush, and spot some Febreze nearby. Located on Pearl St. this bakery is conveniently located and cute! Street parking on pearl st. or there is a parking garage but I did not check the prices. I was able to find street parking on a Friday morning :) When you walk in there is a wide selection of pastries on your right. You get a tray and load it up with all the pastries you are dying to try. If something is out they might have it on the cooling rack that was to the right of the register. If it is, you will tell the cashier and they will get it for you. I got a classic, chocolate croissant. The croissant had so many layers! Very flaky and light! The chocolate was a single layer inside the croissant! I don't like it when it's just a pile of chocolate in the middle cause then I feel like you're missing out but this was great cause I got a bit of chocolate with every bite since it was in a layer! I will defiently be going back to get this one again! Also, loved the touch of powdered sugar on top! Very cute and unique!
