Bakery Four is a great bakery! Everything we tried was really good, especially the pastries. The matcha latte was just okay, but I'm coming here for the baked goods anyway. Be prepared for a line. It was very long when we went, and it took quite a while to get through it. That said, the location is great. It's in a very walkable neighborhood and right across the street from a park, which makes it a nice area to hang out before or after. The bakery itself is very open and sparse with a pretty industrial feel, but it works well for the space. Overall, a great bakery and definitely worth checking out, just expect to wait a little if they're busy! read more

Ok, WOW! I recently moved into the area, and it seemed like everyone I met would tell me about this bakery. I waited until they opened on Wednesday (closed Monday and Tuesday) and made my way over shortly after they opened at 8am. There were only a few people in line, so it honestly was perfect timing. I was shocked with how many options there were. Many types of bread, pastries, etc. Honestly, it was a little overwhelming trying to make the right decision! They also have coffee and matcha. I ended up getting a loaf of bread, a savory danish, a lemon sugar cookie, and the coffee cake to share with my partner. We ate the danish and coffee cake for breakfast and saved the cookie for dessert in the evening. Everything was delicious!! I can't wait to go back and try more pastries! read more

This place has one of the yummiest deserts and breads I've ever had! It's not an exaggeration. I purchased 2 pieces and ate them immediately! The only reason why I'm not giving them 5 stars is because my husband and I ordered matcha drinks and although I said we wanted oat milk, for some odd reason our drinks tasted like watered matcha. I genuinely do not understand how this place only has 4.6 stars. It is, hands down, the best bakery in Denver. I'm from Chicago and I've tried every other "top-rated" bakery here, and honestly... none of them even come close. The staff is amazing. I stopped in a few minutes before closing once and instead of being annoyed, they were super nice and even gave me a free coffee cake, which was delicious. The maple morning bun is my #1 ride or die. I'm not even a pastry girl, but this thing is unreal. It's not too heavy, not overly sweet, perfectly crunchy and flaky, soft in the middle, just absolute perfection. Everything I've tried has been amazing: maple morning bun, monkey bread, coffee cake, cinnamon rolls. I still think about those cinnamon rolls and really hope they bring them back soon! Fair warning though: you have to get there early. If you're not an early riser, find someone who is or you will miss out. Parking was fairly easy to find. We parked around the corner and walked here. It's kind of easy to miss unless you're paying attention. When you first walk in, you get cozy industrial vibes. But it works well for the space! There's definitely limited tables though so you have to be on the lookout while you're in line. The line was pretty long when we entered but they have a good system going to get you in and out the door. The employees were nice and patient while you contemplate which pastries you want. There were probably 7 kinds of pastries when we were there but it quickly went down to 3 by the time we got seated and started eating. The plain croissant wasn't bad. It was cold like it was in a fridge and not room temp like I expected but it was my favorite out of the three. The morning bun was super dense in the middle and we ended up not finishing that one cause it was just too dense to be enjoyable. The kouign aman wasn't bad but I think the shape of it didn't bake well. I was a little disappointed but 3 pastries and finishing salt for $18 was a good deal in my opinion! I do think they have good potential and maybe we went on a bad day. Maybe we should've taken them home to heat them up and that would've been better since it was a cold day. The cardamom bun was very different. ($5.5) it was sort of like a flakey croissant with bits of cardamom and it was flavorful. The bottom was a thin sugar crust with cardamom. Service could be faster, people look at the pastries on the counter before they decide what they want. It would help to have a menu board? For both pastries and drinks. After seeing all the reviews I HAD to try bakery four. Line was long on a Saturday morning but moved quickly. Plenty of tables inside and outside. I'm a visual person so seeing all the different pastries lined up with labels was great. I would rate the pastries a 4/5. They were good but didn't blow me away. We had the peach pop tart and goat cheese blueberry Danish. The Danish was very tart and I wish the flavors were balanced better. Should probably buy some stanchions to help manage as the sign and arrows on the floor are easy to ignore. After a long wait here are my thoughts: Maybe the four is an allusion to being the fourth best bakery in Denver? All the pastries that we tried were mediocre. It's remarkable how terrible the layout of this place is. No part of this bakery is inviting and the set up for each thing is truly the worst. The way the line blocks the entrance is probably a fire hazard? And the coffee station is on the opposite side of the barista bar blocked by the pastries. Poor employee taking so many extra steps just to grab a baked good. Also, if you want to sit outside it's blocked by tables and chairs? Came in on a bustling saturday late morning but the line moved like lightning! Seating looked bleak too because of the bad weather limiting patio seating but fairly easily snagged a great spot too. All the plants and the sleek but cozy modern architecture make for a great place to both get work done or hang out. Pastries were divinely made. The butter and chocolate in the breads and the cake were decadent and the cookie was such a nice treat to heat up and have later at home :) my partner got the mocha which was rich but not too heavy and I got a medium drip which as expected was a quality roast. They don't say specifically what you will be getting, just that it's a variety of pastries :) Street parking is available so make sure you read the signs :) I got what looks to be a cruffin, a cruffin with custard in the middle, a HUGE chocolate chip scone, and coffee cake. I was super excited to visit Bakery Four due to Food Insider's video on their giant pain au chocolat! We ordered their: Pain Au Chocolat French Onion Scone Lemon Cream Brioche Bomb Cardamom Bun Their pastry prices are stereotypical of a bakery and the assortment line reminded me of Supermoon Bakehouse in NY, however this all masked the harsh reality when comparing a state like Colorado to more experienced, metropolitan states. Unlike other chocolate croissants because of the lamination of layers in their pain au chocolat, you're met with an odd ratio of a lot of dough and not enough chocolate. The scone was very dry and reminded me of Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits, but I wanted to eat the latter more at the moment. The brioche bomb lacked the initial purpose of the purchase: lemon! The lemon cream was 95% cream and 5% lemon zest, which would've tasted more citrusy and tart if this flavor was stronger. The most sad part was their cardamom bun due to the short lived cardamom taste and majority of the pastry covered in sugar. I wouldn't wake up exceptionally early just to be first in line at Bakery Four, but suffice to say, if you're impressed by this then Tartine Bakery, Supermoon Bakehouse, Arsicault Bakery, etc. will taste like heaven to you. read more

Saw this on my way to breakfast yesterday and I'm so glad I chanced upon Bakery Four! The space itself is pretty spacious with lots of seating and tables so you can definitely hangout here to read a book, chat with a friend, etc. it's right next to Alchemy and adjacent the Cesar Chavez park. Street parking wasn't too bad as you can also find some spots in the residential areas. Upon entering the the door, you'll see a sign " yeah, it is that good" and I would say I concur! The monkey bread which was recommended to me by the staff was amazing-- not too sweet! Love the crunchiness of it too. I was also able to try the Pain au chocolat, I like how you get that melty chocolate goodness all throughout. It was massive btw! However the only thing I didn't like was that it was too flaky. See picture of the pain au chocolat sheddings on the floor. So just be careful, it's kinda oily and messy. But taste wise- 100%. I bought the coffee cake too as well as the plain sourdough bagel- I'll get back to you on that on another review! I was pretty bummed that they didn't have the breakfast sandwich on Sunday :( it looks bomb on instagram with the thick fluffy egg. I'll come back for that Wed-Sat for sure! read more

I finally made it to Bakery Four!! I met some coworkers for breakfast today and was salivating at all of the choices - I ended up getting a box of five items - pain au chocolate (perfectly flaky and good quality chocolate), a ham and cheese croissant, a strawberry rhubarb tea cake, a peach poptart (the flakiness and dough were tasty, could have used more filling), and a danish (saving that for breakfast tomorrow). We showed up right at 8AM when it opened, and the line was already forming and super long by the time we made our way to the counter! I also got a chai that was tasty, had a good amount of spice to it but not too much. The aesthetic of the space was nice too - they had on display all of their breakfast pastry offerings so it was nice to see how everything looked before ordering it. For a chai latte and 5 pastries, it was $30 pre-tip which honestly was more reasonable then I was expecting. Will definitely come back! read more
