I love stopping by Voodoo whenever i'm in Denver. They usually have the same doughnuts every visit (& it's usually years apart). The Voodoo doughnut is fun and creative. I usually grab the homer and another classic doughnut. I did get a seasonal one this time too. It was a raspberry doughnut. The doughnuts were good, the shop was clean and I love pink so naturally loved the decor. There was only 1 person working when we went so the line took a bit. After seeing this place on either the food network channel or travel channel at least a decade ago, I was beyond excited to give this place a try! I had my sights set on a voodoo doughnut! The building was absolutely gorgeous! It had chandeliers and was very pink! I'm not sure if that's how it has always been, but with a name like voodoo, I was picturing something more dark and mysterious! This gave off cumbl cookie vibes... don't get me wrong, it was clean and pretty, just not what I was expecting. The service was subpar at best. There was no one in here, so when we walked in, it seemed like an inconvenience to serve us. We wanted to looked at their rotating doughnuts to make a choice about a second doughnut but felt very rushed by the man behind the counter. We got the voodoo doughnut and dirt. I'm not sure how I've never reviewed this before. I've been to Voodoo quite a few times over the years. I love the unique, interesting donuts. Sometimes the taste doesn't always live up to it as the flavors can be a little over the top, stale cereal, etc. I do like the Homer, which is on the simple side. I also especially like their holiday donuts. For example, I went in on St. Patrick's Day and got a shamrock donuts which is fun. read more

This one on Broadway is my favorite Voodoo locations, but it can be crowded and certainly difficult to find parking at peak times. Luckily, last night we hit the sweet spot (Saturday at 8:30pm) and got a killer parking space and were also the only customers when we entered! Good thing about it being generally busy, though, is that they have to constantly bake fresh doughnuts to keep up. The place is well-designed to move people through. Our server was sooooo darn pleasant that she made what was already a great night even better. Voodoo has many, many unique doughnuts, and although I have tried quite a few, (and you should, too) I am a generally doughnut purist. The nice thing about Voodoo as compared to other "artisan" shops is that they do not ignore the classics. My most recent order was Raspberry Romeo, Blueberry Cake, and Glazed Old-Fashioned. DINERS BEWARE! I'm sad to write this review, but need to warn other diners and let the business know: We had a guest in town and stopped here for donuts. We'd hyped it up and were excited for our guest to try Voodoo. Unfortunately, after getting one of the donuts home and having a bite, we discovered there was A PIECE OF WIRE IN THE DONUT, which was discovered when chewing. This is extremely dangerous if swallowed. The wire can cause internal damage. I'm only familiar with this as a risk when using a wire brush to clean a grill -- I have no idea how that would be the case at a donut shop. We are hoping we caught the (only?) wire and didn't inadvertently consume any pieces in other donuts on that visit or during past trips. Super scary and I don't understand idea how wire would end up in baked goods. I don't feel safe to return to this location again and needed to give a heads-up to others. read more

Obviously doors are good for one thing, and you should know what that is: entering (and exiting if you're into that). Now, before I get into it, I'll let you know my street cred, like the time I came upon a double door, and instead of using one, I swung both doors open at the same time cuz that's how I roll. Now that you know that, let's talk about Voodoo, a place I have experience with, so I know which doors to enter. I have absolutely no issue going through the right door out of the two on any given visit. Unfortunately, I've watched countless others come up to the corner door and try to enter while I stuff my face inside. It's locked. They tug and pull as I try not to laugh and point, their faces full of confusion as they wonder how I achieved entry. I could just sit elsewhere next time to avoid their glares, or I could simply complain on the biggest platform for whining, Yelp: how is it that the management here simply doesn't have a sign that says "ENTER to your left"? Come on, the dude who always works the front counter single-handedly is a hustler, so match homie's capabilities and put up a sign, you sign-deficient donut holes. read more

After a brief morning walk on Broadway in the Baker neighborhood, I came to Voodoo Donut. They offer simple and extravagant donuts. Prices are reasonable. Voo Doo Donuts is one of my favorite places to go, and I don't get there nearly enough. I hadn't been to the one on Broadway, and it's now my preferred location because of the seating area. They have lots of windows to do some people watching while getting your sugar fix beneath the beautiful chandeliers. The room has cement floors that added to the noise of the metal chairs being scraped around, but I still enjoyed being able to eat right there. My Portland Cream donut was soft and delicious with lots of custard inside. The chocolate cake donut was also very good. Granted, I've never had a donut that wasn't excellent at Voo Doo. We also had a cup of coffee that was a little bitter but it could have been because it was sitting in the pot on the counter too long. I had been to Voodoo Doughnuts on a trip to Portland 7 years ago and had not been there since, so I was excited to re-try this famous gem. There are so many options to choose from, even if you're vegan! The doughnuts are biiiiig, so they're great for sharing. The cake doughnuts are so good. My family and I love Voodoo Doughnut because of the vegan options. My son is severely allergic to milk and one of my daughters is allergic to egg. I tried a different VooDoo location 2 years ago and they were dry and crusty donuts. I was near this location the other day and decided to give it another try. I'm so glad I did.. they were some of the best donuts I've had...maybe ever. I couldn't believe it! They were so soft and fresh. Perfect donut-to-icing ratios. Indulgent worthy doughnuts! While driving by, I saw the lit sign on the corner at dusk back in July of 2022 but didn't stop in due to the parking situation and my time restraint. Fast forward to April 2023, parking was still a beast, but I had more time. Parking is definitely an issue unless you find a spot on the street that has a car leaving or is vacant. They don't have a lot to park in. After circling around the block a couple of times, I finally found a spot. Broadway is a one-way street and it's metered parking here. I don't particularly care for the name or theme of the shop, but I had heard a lot about this doughnut shop originating in Portland, OR. We have one here in the Los Angeles area at Universal Studios, but I never visited it. So, I came here while I was in town! There's a poster on the window where you can look at the doughnuts and see if any are of interest to you before walking in. Yes, I saw many doughnuts I would have loved to try, but since it was just me, I very carefully chose two. There's a rotating carousel displaying three tiers of delicious doughnuts. The lady at the counter greeted me and waited patiently as I was taking forever to make my selection. She grabbed my doughnuts and put them in a pink box. I was surprised that they weren't crammed in a paper bag, thank you! I don't think they use bags, like my local doughnut shops. The shop has a two sections; one for ordering and the other for dining. It's very spacious! There's lots of room for people to stand in line. Also, it's nice that the line is not in direct proximity to where people are sitting trying to enjoy their food. The inside is all pink & black and has chandeliers! Mango Tango & School Daze PB&J were my choices. The Mango Tango is a raised shell filled with mango jelly and topped with vanilla frosting and Tang (the drink powder). Delish! The School Daze "PB&J" is a Vegan Doughnut, but it didn't seem like it. This one is a raised yeast shell filled with raspberry jelly, topped with peanut butter and a side dip of peanuts. It was so flavorful from the PB&J"! I like some of the creative names of the doughnuts! Would you like a Oh Captain, My Captain with Cap'n Crunch on top, Marshall Mathers with Mini M&Ms on top, or The Homer which is has strawberry frosting and round sprinkles? Upon another visit, I'd be interested in trying the Ring of Fire (Devil's food cake with cinnamon sugar, cayenne pepper, and a dried red chili pepper), Viscous Hibiscus (hibiscus frosting and black sprinkles), and the Apple Fritter (fried dough with apple chunks and cinnamon and topped with glaze)! Of the four locations in the Denver metro area, (one now on Concourse B at the airport), this is the one location I visit the most often as I always get great service and delicious, melt-in-your-mouth donut concoctions. The location along Broadway always has a great view for people watching- both in and outside of the store. My favorite donut is the "Homer" an homage to the great Simpsons' donut. I used to live in Portland, OR where voodoo originated so I was very excited to find out there was a location in Denver. A lot of Portland locals don't care for it because there are "better donuts". However, I've always been a big big fan. I love the variety, the quirkiness and a donut is a donut. They're all good! This location had a very short line; in Portland the line can take an hour sometimes! I got the big jelly donut and it fulfilled my every donut fantasy. I gave up sugar for lent and this was the first treat that passed my lips. What an experience it was. The gooey, oozing jelly amidst the flaky sweet dough let me wanting more. The voodoo doll (also filled with jelly!), cookies and cream and homer are all some of my favorites. If you're looking for a wonderful donut experience, look no further. read more

I recommend getting any of the fun and unique flavor ones. As they really shine with those doughnuts. As some of the basic one were just okay. This is the second Voodoo Doughnut location for Denver and also putting me at about half as far as paying a visit to all of their locations. I have kind of moved passed the more elaborate doughnuts with jelly filled Voodoo doll shaped features but really get into the more basic ones like powdered sugar and a favorite the Ring of Fire which is like a devil's food doughnut with peppered kick. This location was pretty slow and I was able to place my order right away as there was no line. I don't think I've been this fortunate since paying a visit to their Eugene, Oregon location.
