We all have our donut opinions. I will say, these are not my favorite but they are a good option for a donut on the lighter, airy side. We tried the yeast style and then I went back for a cake style because I wasn't quite satisfied. I actually liked the flavor of the cake style donut...it packed more of a punch. We decided that the yeast style should be judged individually by flavor because some hit right and others flopped. Some flavors lacked flavor and the donut itself is so light, it needs the substance of the topping to make it special. The cinnamon crunch and coconut were our favorites. Strawberry and peanut butter cup were underwhelming somehow. And I liked the cake style (not pictured) best. I guess we would choose City Donuts when we wanted a light donut that you could eat many of, vs some of the other specialty donuts that one is plenty because they are dense or topping heavy. We are not local to the area so location didn't mean anything to us when we googled it. Lacking ambiance and not the prettiest area but a good grab and go option. read more

Came on an early Monday morning to a full display rack. I was pretty disappointed to find out that the blueberry cake donut is not available on Mondays. For buying so early in the day (around 7am), I expected them to taste more fresh. It almost seemed like they were from the previous day. I went this morning to purchase a few donuts, they weren't very tasty!!! The long John chocolate icing looked melted, horrible and stale!!! I also ordered a glazed donut, had a piece of plastic on the donut , yuck!!! You should not sell old donuts, they don't have a long shelf life!!! I will not be back. Went here early in the morning to get two dozen donuts for my coworkers. I was greeted by a kind worker and the sweet smell of freshly baked donuts and warm coffee. The prices were super reasonable and the donuts were really great too! I got an assortment, picked out by the staff, and they were all gone by noon! Loved by all! The variety of Donuts are more that just glaze, always fresh and in stock not to mention that have a good selection of fancy doughnuts, can't say much about the the holes but the longjohns are great and the bear claws and fritters are always on par with and better than most others locations read more

I Love this place! One of the rare few old school donut shops in Colorado (period). This place is open really early so it's a great place to stop by before work. City Donuts was delivered to my work today for a great mid day pick me up! I tried the glazed donut and it was a light yeast donut and not too sweet. Everything about the donut was light and not over the top like some donuts that feel like you're eating pure sugar. Stopped by City Donuts while visiting Colorado. We went later in the morning so the donut choices were a little picked over but they still had a lot options overall. The options were simple and classic, nothing wild. I ended up getting a plain ole sprinkled donut. It tasted pretty fresh. We decided to dine in (to avoid getting crumbs and mess in our rental car) and it was a bit of a mess. There were more napkins on the floor than the napkin holder. The floor was sticky, had liquid spills and food/crumbs all over. They have 4 or so booths to sit at, they were all messy. I noticed that they only had one person out working the floor (serving donuts) and I understand she could not control/do everything but the dirtiness of the shop made me a little uncomfortable. The woman working there seemed busy behind the corner, wasn't very friendly BUT if I was the only one working and had to do everything, I'd be a little stressed and overwhelmed myself so I get it! The bathroom was also "out of order". So my tip would be, get your donut and go! They have a few designated parking spots in a little lot from what I could see. read more

City Donuts has a really nice selection of donuts, twists, bars and fritters. There are both raised, cake and French donuts in an array of flavors and toppings. The shop is bright, comfortable and friendly. My only criticism is that the fritters are way too sweet - if that's possible. All you can taste is sugar! Otherwise a great donut place. read more

The best apple fritter I've had since Dutch Boy Donuts closed over a decade ago--the way the glaze soaks into the dough on the bottom, and the sugar glaze doesn't get too crispy is perfect. I also had a cinnamon donut that was very good as well--I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. read more

I don't post many reviews, but when I stumbled on City Donuts I just had to throw something out there. The donuts we got were perfectly cooked, glazed and of an appropriate size. The Apple fritter was crispy on the outside but soft inside and had the perfect apple taste you are looking for. The old fashioned glazed was the same, just perfect. Nevertheless, Hubs and I opt to have a Dozen of Donuts from this establishment. 1 Dozen was $9.99. May return perhaps in the earlier part of the day AKA MORNING, and perhaps see what City Donuts can offer. All in all decent Donuts. From what I could recall we opt to have Sugar Donuts, Chocolate Frosting, Bear Claw, Apple Fritters, Cinnamon Rolls, Mango Filled Donuts with Chocolate Glaze to name a few. I ordered the chocolate raised glazed (with and without sprinkles), maple raised glazed, the delicious Apple fritter, and a chocolate raised glazed long-john filled (with bravarian cream I believe) donut, and they were all fresh and soft. Anthony, who was working behind the counter immediately greeted me; he was kind, fast, efficient and professional. I also learned they make all their donuts on-site and in their store! Pretty good sized donuts and a good deal. We like to come here for the apple fritters and variety. That apple fritter can be split with two people. I used to come here every Friday when I worked in the area and they are hands down the best donuts in Denver. The price point is great and the customer service is excellent. I came in on a Sunday at 10am. I have a hard time calling this the best of Denver. We tried a decent variety to see what their "niche" might be. Cake donut was dry and hard, bear claw is not traditional, rather a donut shaped like a bear claw, glazed was good but I've had better, on the dry side. Chocolate covered classic was very dry. A couple months ago, my parents brought me a raspberry filled donut from this place which was fantastic. Great flavor and texture, nice and fresh. When I asked where they got it from, they said City Donuts in Hoffman Heights, and that's the place where I always get my haircut. So, I made it a point to get some from this place when I got my next haircut. Today, I ordered a half a dozen, some more filled and paid my parents back with maple and chocolate long johns. Although they were bavarian cream filled, which I don't care for, my parents said they were absolutely fantastic. I chose an apple fritter, and this was most likely the best apple fritter I ever had. Every bite was perfect. Slight crunch on the outside, soft in the middle, apple in every bite. I'm definitely getting another next time. Maybe a half dozen just of them! Also, the guy serving me was very friendly, very eager to help. I said this was my first time in, and he gave me free sample to get me hooked. If this is how the service is on a consistent basis, this may be my favorite donut place. Now, if only we get one here in Green Valley Ranch and run that Dunkin Donuts out of here! read more
