We love Winchell's!! It may be partially the nostalgia that comes with the place, our family being from Southern California, but we have a great experience every time we come to this location. The service is fantastic. The kids that work there are always incredibly kind, helpful, and polite. I always feel welcome. The donuts are great, and there's just something about their breakfast bagel sandwiches that hit the spot. We usually stop by on our way to the mountains for a weekend hike or on the way to work to grab a dozen donuts for the team. I never regret stopping by for a classic cup of Joe and a warm breakfast. read more

This is one of our favorite donut spots in the greater Denver area. They have lots of delicious flavors and their donuts are always fresh. A dozen donuts will actually get you 14 for 20 bucks which is not a bad deal. I definitely recommend this spot for some yummy breakfast. read more

The service is good. The food is good. The atmosphere for just popping in for a little bit is great.

Three stars for friendly service and the fact that they're open late. However, these were probably the most boring and bland donuts that I have ever eaten. We only got a half dozen, and we didn't even finish them. It's very very rare that I don't finish a box of donuts, at some point over a 2-3 day period. We threw some of these out. Bummer. We probably should have gone to Vodoo Donuts instead. read more

Always so friendly and helpful here a dozen donuts is 14 at Winchell's! This is a favorite for my family when they want a box FULL of classics. They always have lots of choices and they're always fresh. read more

Winchell's is one of the best in the business. The donuts are usually fresh and tasty. And I have no issues getting a fast dozen delivered when I use a delivery service. read more

Delicious donuts and fritters. The blueberry fritter is the best. Bavarian cream long John's are great too!

I actually really love the donuts here, and I hate that I can't give five stars as I'm even constantly recommending Winchell's to everyone. I fully understand that everyone has off days, and because of that I have attempted to give them five more shots. Issue #1 -- the guy behind the counter is pushy and has his mind made up as to what I'm going to order before I order it. I asked for half a dozen and he had six in a dozen box before I even told him a second donut flavor. I do believe that part of that is the language barrier, but if I've only told him one donut flavor there shouldn't be more than that one kind in there. Issue #2 -- I love fritters and bear claws, but their fritters are horribly drenched in oil, and their bear claws are 25-50% raw every single time. Issue #3 -- the past six times that I've been in there the variety has been nonexistent. If this was a regular donut shop that was not 24 hours a day I would understand it 100%. But since it is open 24 hours a day, they need to stop with the excuses that the other varieties sell out too quickly and just start making more of those varieties. Seems like a pretty easily understood concept, especially from the business end of things. It's all about supply and demand and the varieties should be balanced out to maximize sales and decrease loss. I've left without purchasing any donuts the last six times and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'm not certain if the ownership has changed, but currently -- this isn't it. I'd be ecstatic to be able to come back on here and give them five stars. But it's going to take some effort on their part. read more

The doughnut craving hit again, this time Winchell's was the choice. I'll start off by saying, next time we want doughnuts THIS will be the move. The doughnuts were delicious, you could tell they were very well made and at a very decent price for what we got. The chocolate glazed had a nice crunch to it that held up even when we went back to the box for an afternoon nibble. Don't let the front fool you, it's a choice spot for your next breakfast both on the run or to bring home for the family. We will be back again! read more

Winchell's Donut House - Apple fritter, Cherry fritter, bear claw, chocolate sprinkles, and two twirls - Donuts Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

My mom and I stopped here for a quick pick me up before work wanting bear claws and donut holes. I didn't see donut holes on display but the person helping us went to the back and brought back quickly a clear bag with the donut holes inside wrapped with ribbon. It kind of grossed me out to see that they were just in the back in a foggy/smeared bag from all the time sitting but we figured it must be smeared from the glaze. I ordered an orange juice and they handed me a Tropicana bottle ( not a problem! ) I wasn't expecting that though. Looking closer I realized the orange juice had a green color to it, so I decided to let them know we wouldn't be taking it. At that point someone else who I assume was the manager took the bottle, did a double take, then set it aside to throw it out I assume. We left with the bear claws and donut holes and immediately felt sick just a few bites in. We thought maybe it was too much sugar so early in the morning but we've had donuts from other places before and felt fine. We went to work and throughout our day felt sick to our stomachs. We're pretty sure it was the donut holes and bear claws but not sure if they were old or if they just sat wrong with us. I wouldn't come back only because the donuts themselves seemed to make us sick both times we've come here. Despite that, we had good service and the staff was very friendly so early in the morning. read more

10/13/23- This is the first place where the 3 star score is because I'm really torn on how to rate them. This is because our food experience was so opposite ends of the spectrum. The sandwiches were horrible (totally 1 star food level). Not only were they basically made out of lunch meat, there was very little on them, and they were soggy. The donuts on the other hand were great. Like the cherry fritter I had was one of the best pastries I've ever had. I will say in some of my posts that your experience is based off what you order, and here it is totally true. Don't waste your time with any of the food here except the donuts. read more

If you want a great spot for donuts, well, this is it! Love these donuts, definitely always fresh and never lacking the fillings inside.

Oh my gosh. How do you do it? You are the donut masters. I'm sitting here eating a chocolate covered plain cake and it's perfectly light and delicate yet crisp and it's just delicious. Seriously, you have the science down! I thought I didn't like donuts, but that's because everyone else does it wrong, oh my goodness. Thank you. read more

My mom, sisters and I used to come here every Sunday after church! It was just one of those things that we did and who can't resist a donut.. There is a wide selection of donuts and they are pretty affordable! However, not the best donuts ever. The staff are nice and knowledgeable and the service is fast! read more

Second time ordering food and it has been wrong each time. Staff is extremely rude, especially the cook. Won't be returning.

I found this place recently on Groupon and let me tell you, I have been pleasantly surprised! I walked in the other day, not expecting much. I mean, coming from Orlando, a lot of doughnut shops just come standard with all the frills. Probably have to in order to attract all of the tourists and keep up with the competition, but this place isn't like that. No frills, but great doughnuts! Light and airy! Best part!? A Winchell's dozen is 14 doughnuts, not 12! read more

Winchell's Donut House - A Winchell's Dozen Donuts - Donuts Near Me - Aurora, Colorado

I had high expectations coming here this morning but holy crap was I let down, the girl working the register and the older man were sweet and polite but the breakfast burrito tastes like it was marinated in only tapatio was supposed to be a chicken burrito with eggs but it's literally only potatoes and tapatio, the churro doughnut was pretty underwhelming and the cappuccino is literally the powdered 7 11 garbage..... I understand saving money to make a business profitable but the poor quality of the food paired with the lack of knowing how to prepare a burrito and gas station quality coffee leaves an incredible amount to be desired. To be completely honest don't eat here it's just not good food and the coffee is a joke... read more

I had a Groupon, so decided to give this place a try. I ordered a dozen doughnuts and gave them free rein, saying to just give me the best ones. They put 2 apple fritters, 2 glazed, 2 chocolate frosted, 3 with sprinkles, chocolate cake, and 2 plain cake donuts. None of them were anything special. I definitely wouldn't bother ordering here again. read more

They get an extra star for the price and their hours. Open 24x7 so you can get your sweet fix any time of the day or night. When we went in around 10am they were super busy but they were well stocked. We had a Groupon, $8.50 for a dozen(14 donuts) so the price was unbeatable. I liked their cake donuts better than raised. Cake donuts were moist and crumbly on the inside while I felt the raised ones were slightly dry. read more

Occasional stop for a donut and milk. They lured me in while back with great group on deals and since then, I have become one of the regulars. Sunday morning 10 am, they still offer lots of choices and if you don't find what you looking for, just ask. Staff and owners are always super friendly and of course, super fast. Not much I can write about donut place but I'm happy to report that not all donuts are created equal and this one is definitely lot better than Dunkins. Come and get some hot (or warm), sweet deliciousness! For a donut place, cant get any better. p.s. if you get group on 3 dz deal and thinking of getting all 3 dz one time.. nope, nope. you will get a punch card good for 3 punches on 3 visits. read more

We love the donuts here. Regardless what time we come, their donuts are always fresh! We usually get their Bavarian cream filled donuts and cream puffs. They are open 24/7 so you can get your donuts anytime any days. The store inside is clean, and the employees wear mask and gloves. There are outside seating, but is limited to two picnic tables. There are a lot of potholes in the parking lot so be careful driving through. read more

Have had too many negative experiences. Bad service and inconsistent quality at this location

This is my favorite donut place. Their donuts are so crispy but soft at the same time. Their flavors are classic and they have a wide variety to choose from. It's a family owned business and everyone working there has been so sweet and patient whenever I go in and have a hard time deciding which flavors I'll get! They have a great deal of "Winchell's Dozen" which gives you 14 donuts instead of 12. They also have a window to the side area, so you can see the donuts being made if they're in production! It's really cool! read more

Friends took me here for the first time & we got pretty much everything to try. Their apple fritters, buttermilk, coconut donuts etc. was good & my favorite is the cinnamon roll. It was flaky & decadent. So decadent, you can't just have one. Not a healthy donut either so be aware. read more

Went here for the first time ever. Sorry but I'll never shop here again. I prefer filled donuts only. I love them. Nice man had five bear claws, and I bought them all! In fact I bought $60 worth of donuts. Mainly for my kids, but wanted a bear claw too. There was absolutely no apple pie filling inside! Not even a sliver. Just a big glazed donut. So disappointed. First and last time. I love Winchell's by the way. Way better than Dunkin Donuts. Now I need a great mom and pop store read more

My other half has literally been dying for a good donut since we've been in Denver. We've had Krispy Kreme ( tastey but pricey for a small donut) and Dunkin Donuts near our house (nasty tasting product and bad service) and we remembered seeing this during our drives around town. For coming in at 8 p.m. they had a decent selection. There was even a young family that came in after us with their young son who was quite excited to get a donut. Winchell's was THE only place to get hot, tasty, fresh donuts back in California and so glad we found them here. Tasty and soft. Yummmm. We can only imagine how much tastier they are in the morning when they're fresh AND hot.... Yes, we'll be back. My guy has his sweet tooth satisfied at last! read more

These are pretty ordinary doughnuts. And there's no signs telling you what they are so unless it was obvious I literally had to ask what everything was which was really annoying. I got blueberry, sugar, an apple cinnamon bear claw, chocolate eclair, chocolate and double chocolate. The blueberry wasn't very nice and didn't taste like blueberry. The rest were ok. Nothing special. Cost was a bit over $6. Didn't really feel like it was worth the calories. read more
