Three stars for friendly service and the fact that they're open late. However, these were probably the most boring and bland donuts that I have ever eaten. We only got a half dozen, and we didn't even finish them. It's very very rare that I don't finish a box of donuts, at some point over a 2-3 day period. We threw some of these out. Bummer. I actually really love the donuts here, and I hate that I can't give five stars as I'm even constantly recommending Winchell's to everyone. I fully understand that everyone has off days, and because of that I have attempted to give them five more shots. Issue #1 -- the guy behind the counter is pushy and has his mind made up as to what I'm going to order before I order it. I asked for half a dozen and he had six in a dozen box before I even told him a second donut flavor. I do believe that part of that is the language barrier, but if I've only told him one donut flavor there shouldn't be more than that one kind in there. Issue #2 -- I love fritters and bear claws, but their fritters are horribly drenched in oil, and their bear claws are 25-50% raw every single time. Issue #3 -- the past six times that I've been in there the variety has been nonexistent. If this was a regular donut shop that was not 24 hours a day I would understand it 100%. But since it is open 24 hours a day, they need to stop with the excuses that the other varieties sell out too quickly and just start making more of those varieties. Seems like a pretty easily understood concept, especially from the business end of things. It's all about supply and demand and the varieties should be balanced out to maximize sales and decrease loss. I've left without purchasing any donuts the last six times and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'm not certain if the ownership has changed, but currently -- this isn't it. I'd be ecstatic to be able to come back on here and give them five stars. But it's going to take some effort on their part. read more

My mom and I stopped here for a quick pick me up before work wanting bear claws and donut holes. I didn't see donut holes on display but the person helping us went to the back and brought back quickly a clear bag with the donut holes inside wrapped with ribbon. It kind of grossed me out to see that they were just in the back in a foggy/smeared bag from all the time sitting but we figured it must be smeared from the glaze. I ordered an orange juice and they handed me a Tropicana bottle ( not a problem! ) I wasn't expecting that though. Looking closer I realized the orange juice had a green color to it, so I decided to let them know we wouldn't be taking it. At that point someone else who I assume was the manager took the bottle, did a double take, then set it aside to throw it out I assume. We left with the bear claws and donut holes and immediately felt sick just a few bites in. We thought maybe it was too much sugar so early in the morning but we've had donuts from other places before and felt fine. We went to work and throughout our day felt sick to our stomachs. We're pretty sure it was the donut holes and bear claws but not sure if they were old or if they just sat wrong with us. I wouldn't come back only because the donuts themselves seemed to make us sick both times we've come here. Despite that, we had good service and the staff was very friendly so early in the morning. read more

The doughnut craving hit again, this time Winchell's was the choice. I'll start off by saying, next time we want doughnuts THIS will be the move. The doughnuts were delicious, you could tell they were very well made and at a very decent price for what we got. The chocolate glazed had a nice crunch to it that held up even when we went back to the box for an afternoon nibble. 10/13/23- This is the first place where the 3 star score is because I'm really torn on how to rate them. This is because our food experience was so opposite ends of the spectrum. The sandwiches were horrible (totally 1 star food level). Not only were they basically made out of lunch meat, there was very little on them, and they were soggy. The donuts on the other hand were great. Like the cherry fritter I had was one of the best pastries I've ever had. I will say in some of my posts that your experience is based off what you order, and here it is totally true. Don't waste your time with any of the food here except the donuts. read more

I had high expectations coming here this morning but holy crap was I let down, the girl working the register and the older man were sweet and polite but the breakfast burrito tastes like it was marinated in only tapatio was supposed to be a chicken burrito with eggs but it's literally only potatoes and tapatio, the churro doughnut was pretty underwhelming and the cappuccino is literally the powdered 7 11 garbage..... I found this place recently on Groupon and let me tell you, I have been pleasantly surprised! I walked in the other day, not expecting much. I mean, coming from Orlando, a lot of doughnut shops just come standard with all the frills. When we went in around 10am they were super busy but they were well stocked. We had a Groupon, $8.50 for a dozen(14 donuts) so the price was unbeatable. I liked their cake donuts better than raised. Occasional stop for a donut and milk. They lured me in while back with great group on deals and since then, I have become one of the regulars. Sunday morning 10 am, they still offer lots of choices and if you don't find what you looking for, just ask. Staff and owners are always super friendly and of course, super fast. Not much I can write about donut place but I'm happy to report that not all donuts are created equal and this one is definitely lot better than Dunkins. We love the donuts here. Regardless what time we come, their donuts are always fresh! We usually get their Bavarian cream filled donuts and cream puffs. They are open 24/7 so you can get your donuts anytime any days. The store inside is clean, and the employees wear mask and gloves. There are outside seating, but is limited to two picnic tables. There are a lot of potholes in the parking lot so be careful driving through. read more

This is my favorite donut place. Their donuts are so crispy but soft at the same time. Their flavors are classic and they have a wide variety to choose from. It's a family owned business and everyone working there has been so sweet and patient whenever I go in and have a hard time deciding which flavors I'll get! Went here for the first time ever. Sorry but I'll never shop here again. I prefer filled donuts only. I love them. Nice man had five bear claws, and I bought them all! In fact I bought $60 worth of donuts. Mainly for my kids, but wanted a bear claw too. There was absolutely no apple pie filling inside! Not even a sliver. Just a big glazed donut. So disappointed. My other half has literally been dying for a good donut since we've been in Denver. We've had Krispy Kreme ( tastey but pricey for a small donut) and Dunkin Donuts near our house (nasty tasting product and bad service) and we remembered seeing this during our drives around town. For coming in at 8 p.m. they had a decent selection. There was even a young family that came in after us with their young son who was quite excited to get a donut. Winchell's was THE only place to get hot, tasty, fresh donuts back in California and so glad we found them here. Tasty and soft. Yummmm. These are pretty ordinary doughnuts. And there's no signs telling you what they are so unless it was obvious I literally had to ask what everything was which was really annoying. I got blueberry, sugar, an apple cinnamon bear claw, chocolate eclair, chocolate and double chocolate. The blueberry wasn't very nice and didn't taste like blueberry. The rest were ok.
