They are unique in that they are not cake or yeast doughnuts but are layered like croissants - crispy on the outside soft inside. I ordered six different doughnuts to go. Service was friendly & fast. The fantastic French Toast Doughnut was topped with a yummy maple glaze, maple syrup & cinnamon powered sugar. The Maple Pecan was topped with a maple glaze, syrup drizzle & crunchy pecans. The Cookies & Cream was covered in chocolate syrup, crushed cookie crumbs & whipped cream. The Bourbon Caramel had a bourbon glaze & the Colorado Crunch had cinnamon toast cereal on top of a glaze. Last but not least & my favorite was the Blueberry Cheesecake. This doughnut was topped with a spread of blueberry cheesecake, whipped cream, a fresh blueberry & graham cracker crumbs. Since moving to this area one thing we've noticed is that there is no shortage of donut shops. I think Parlor has been around awhile. There are two locations. One in Denver and this one in Aurora. I live in the Springs and my overall impression is that this was a one time experience for the trouble getting there. They might have pioneered their style, but now there are too many places that make similar style donuts between the Springs and Aurora. We tried several different types of donuts and they were just ok. The flavors were normal. Glazed, chocolate, maple or strawberry with different toppings and clever names. Unfortunately lately this place is inconsistent at best. Yes, they have amazing flavor concoctions of donuts but the service and taste has been a crapshoot the last two times. Specifically the last time we went was a major disappointment and I know the world is in need of good employees but it seems like they just don't care. Holy crap!! These are the best donuts EVER!!! We get them at work every so often and they are so flippin good. They are like a cross between a donut with the toppings and a croissant with texture. My kryptonite is chocolate and I have had all of their chocolate ones and several of the others they have. All of them are amazing and I love the croissant texture in them. I'd heard good things about Parlor but hadn't been in the mood to venture across town just to try some doughnuts. Then, last weekend, while Yelping to find a breakfast option, I learned that there is now a Parlor location in Aurora! We promplty went and purchased a dozen doughnuts to take home and share with our roommates. The dozen was pricey - I want to say around $30, but WORTH IT. The doughnuts are so large that we cut them into quarters so that we could get more variety when tasting them. They are made with a croissant style dough that's a lovely happy medium between a fluffy doughnut and a cake doughnut. The result is kind of like a danish. SO FREAKIN' GOOD! The staff was SO friendly and patient. The shop is super simple and cute. Their merch is even better and definitely something i want to purchase. There were a ton of selections for flavors with most of classics, as well as some fun seasonal flavors. I got 6 donuts in total (blueberry, turtle cheesecake, maple bacon, lemon, coconut creme, vanilla sprinkle) and they were delicious! My favorite by far were the coconut creme, turtle cheesecake, and maple bacon! All of the donuts are a mix between croissant and donut with the layers and buttery flakiness. As for the "donuts": Can you give this heavenly puff such a lowly name? I LOVE donuts- but these fried pastries are patisserie at its finest and most elegant! Oooh, you feel so great indulging and enjoying every morsel. We bought a dozen so that we could try half of the flavors in one sitting, and every flavor was mouthwatering. The presentation was very appealing and inviting & we could not wait to dig in. These gems are perfectly crispy on the outside (deep-fried YUM!) & whatever the flavor, it is to die for; it's spot on, not too sweet or too little/too much frosting. Ok. I generally love love the donuts from all Parlors I've been to. We left cherry creek in the morning and stopped in to get some food and coffee. We walked up and cautiously opened the door because the chairs were up on the tables and it was generally not set up to serve customers. I had to shout to see if someone was in there. Fine, I get it, it's early, maybe they are tired or running late this am I can deal. I ask for the WiFi and was told it wasn't working ok, no biggie. We order the gf donuts, they take like 2-3 min and he let us know beforehand nbd. So we took the chairs off of a table and waited. The donuts were fine for being gluten free. Not as good as the regular beyond amazing donuts I've had (from other locations) but still ok. I had someone joining and when she came in the guy working again was missing somewhere so took a bit to come out again and got the most disgusting coffee we ended up dumping out and my topochico was even stale. (Which they didn't open the bottle and disappeared so we couldn't ask for one). They also don't have a restroom and sent us to the liquor store next door which is a little sketch. I get the impression this place doesn't keep up with cleaning or care as much as the other locations. The blatant neglect of basic tasks makes me extremely uneasy to think they adhere to basic food sanitation mandates. read more

I have been craving (and searching for) the perfect light but decadent donut in Denver, so I was thrilled at the concept of a "layered" donut (Cronut being trademarked by Dominique Ansel so they can't call it that). Their every day flavours like Raspberry Pistachio, Strawberry Shortcake, and Bourbon Caramel all sound amazing. And I love that they offer gluten-free, vegan and keto donuts at certain locations. I tried three of their daily specials: 1. The Fruit Tart: A marshmallowy, cream cheesy topping with fresh fruit. 2. Honey Lavender: A nice, strong lavender flavour. I liked it but understandably not for everyone. 3. Caramelized Peach: The top was peach but the filling was just vanilla frosting. 4. Bonus, Minis: I got one of every flavour to try - Cinnamon Sugar, Raspberry Jelly and Coconut Cream - and I liked these the most. They were the best baked and most manageable. I would come back for these. So the donuts. Do you remember when Voodoo Doughnuts kept delaying their opening date because the high elevation was messing with their tried and true recipes? I think Parlor has run into the same issue. Every donut I got was underbaked. So doughy that every slice or bite caused the dough to flatten even with a thick filling. And they all seem to be the same base donut, so they all experienced the same issue. My other issue was that it was so sweet, to the point where it almost all I could taste. This location is more limited in offerings than the one downtown, such as offering drip coffees only, no milkshakes or juices. I would call ahead to confirm if you're looking for something in particular. Also, there is no sign on the outside after being open a year, which makes it a little hard to find. read more

I found Parlor thanks to a quick Google Maps search today. I was in Aurora between meetings and decided to pick some donuts up for staff. While they were $34, they were worth it! Each donut was a perfect mix of a croissant and donut. Each donut had its own special flavor mix and they were beautiful! We were even given a couple of samples since it was our first time there. I managed to only come a couple times, and on my first Mother's Day. It was slammed on the holiday, so you'll definitely want to come early on holidays/special occasions, but they still worked with us all who were desperate for these sweet treats. They seem more speciality croughnut style so they are a little more expensive than traditional donuts, but again worth it for a treat. I went to this one today. I usually go to the denver location. The keto donuts were not on display only a few low carb. So I ordered 11. The keto they put sugary icing on. The low carb were over cooked. We got one regular donut that was supposed to be raspberry jelly filled and it had a spicy jelly in it. My daughter spit it out. One donut just crumbled after I bit into it. 2 in the trash at this point. The low carb was just ok. They were not good like other locations and for $50.00 you should receive a good donut. Great donuts horrible service and coffee. Walked in and two young men were working one with his earbuds in their ears and one had headphones draped around his neck. One of the guys came out from the back, no greeting and just stared at us until we talked to him and told him what we wanted. The coffee was warm and was not fresh. Didn't seem like these guys were too enthused about their job. Customer experience is part of the buying experience and this time around it wasn't good service.
