We found this place from reviews in Yelp and it's one of the closest donut shop from our location. It's an easy drive and not hard to find. The place is cozy and clean. They have a variety of donut selections, drinks and kolaches as well. The person that was there was very friendly and answered all our questions. Was wanting a donut, found The Donut here on yelp. We arrived around 11AM on a weekday. I ordered a cinnamon twist. The donut was very light and nicely done. It was the perfect texture and perfectly iced. The clerk was friendly, but was clearly not busy and kinda bored. The only thing that put me off was that all the class (windows, the case glass, etc) was all grungy. While it had been cleaned, with the Sun coming in the window, it was too obvious that the glass was just not clean. A bummer it would have made completely different impression if everything had been sparkling. read more

Amazing donuts!! Not overpriced like most donut chains. Place used to always be closed down with the previous ownership and every time I came donuts were always sold out :( However, with the new ownership I see more consistency and whenever I come I can get my donuts without worrying about shop being closed or having limited options. New owner is also very nice Definitely coming back more often. read more

I was wanting to treat myself, and these donuts are the answer. I live in a senior and disabled apartment building and someone donated a large box of these donuts to us. The newer owner of the donut, Sue, has made this donut shop easily the best donut shop south of Denver, based on tastiness, texture, and being perfectly but not overly sweet. Man this donut shop used to be the best - I loved taking my kids and out of town visitors there - very welcoming environment and delicious donuts. Well, went there today for the first time in a while and everything has changed - the place has been completely re-modeled and no longer looks like a cozy family-owned joint - now it looks like like any other modern coffee house that can be found on every corner in downtown. Gone are the old tables that were so nostalgic and instead of smelling like donuts, it had that synthetic smell of an office. The selection of donuts has gone down considerably as has the taste - they were on par with what I can get at Safeway for considerably less money. Time to find a new donut shop. I don't understand why new owners are always tempted to change a proven formula - too bad. read more

Been to this donut shop many times over the past 5 years. I must say that since the ownership change we have since seen a significant decrease in the quality and selection of the donuts. Today hit rock bottom in my opinion. Arrived at 7:06am, earlier enough that you would believe everything would still be available. No chocolate bars filled with whip cream (the main reason we go), turns out they didn't make any today. So selected 8 other donuts, which all looks stale and old in the cases. Should have trusted my instincts and walked out after looking at the poor quality. However, was excited for donuts and proceeded. Turns out they tasted exactly like they looked- stale and not good in any sense. They looked days old and tasted the same. Likely done with this donut shop. read more

I used to sing the praises of this shop, the absolute best donuts I'd ever had without contest. Very disappointed that the quality has significantly dropped since new ownership has taken over. The old fashions are still alright (they used to be incredible), the cake donuts have become very doughy, and the last raised donut I had was basically unrecognizable (small, overcooked, dense). I purchased 6 donuts at 7:30 AM on a Saturday. I love donuts, but I rarely buy them since I know I will eat them like a mad woman! I wanted a treat for my husband and me, so I bit the bullet and went to The Donut. The woman behind the counter was quite friendly, so the service was great. I'm sure she had been working several hours before I arrived. Regarding the donuts themselves, they were dry and disappointing. Anything with chocolate on them had so little chocolate, I could see through it. I remember chocolate old fashioned donuts (my favorite type) used to be thick with chocolate.
