I like to sample different donuts from all different places and Lamars always hits the spot. Soft, fresh, hot and delicious. I came here on National Donut Day and the line was out to the parking lot. Anybody that comes here can see why. You can get a great tasting treat almost anytime throughout the day. I also picked up a bag of Lamars fresh ground coffee and I might have a new favorite brand! This review is for service only. If I can, I would like to give minus stars. The experience was so bad that this will be the last business I have with La Mar. I encouraged that people should avoid this place. I had preordered 4 dozens of donuts prior to pick up. It showed that pick up time was 8:45 am. I went there about 9am, expecting that they would be ready for pick up. When I arrived, the line was long. I stood at the pick up line for a while, nobody greeted me so I had to stand in line. When I was my turn, the older male who I didn't catch the name barked at me " what do you want?" Instead of smiles or greeting. When I stated that I was here to pick up, he made a grumpy face and said that there was no order for such. He got even grumpier when I showed the confirmed order for 4 dozens of donuts. He then stated that I was too early, which I stated the app indicated that picked up time was 8:45 am. Later, I presumed that he or someone else never acknowledged the order because the time kept going even after I picked up the donuts. He disappeared to the back and came back with 2 huge boxes of donuts. I told him that I would like them to be 4 Box. He bluntly lied and said they don't have a dozen box and acted like he wanted me to get out to there . I was so angry but I didn't want to create the scene. I carried those two boxes out to my car, so I can clear my mind. Then I came back and spoke with the shift manager, Mike. I asked him for a dozen donut box which he gave me. I told him about his employee but then he shrugged and said sorry. I hate to believe that this is the service I received after spending almost 130 dollars including 5% tips. The pictures shows the quality of your employee, La Mar. The owner should step up and train your employee more efficiently. We see many instances where bad employees can ruin their reputations. Also, one advice to the owner, please make sure you train your employees about how to treat customer properly and about diversity. I am quite certain that if I were Caucasian, I would be treated differently. I recommend the local place called We Knead Donut. Great donuts and great service. Last time I ordered 4 dozens of donuts, they were packed nicely and the owner had a gentleman helped carrying those boxes to my car. read more

Confession: I rarely eat donuts. But after binge watching, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, I got a donut craving I couldn't shake. I woke up the next morning STILL thinking about the deliciously sweet little concoctions that I decided to treat my husband and I to a breakfast of champions - DONUTS. I've eaten Lamar's before, but never ventured there on my own, so I had no idea what to expect. Let's just say, I'm hooked - officially. Despite the insanely crowded strip mall and Starbucks next door, this place is easy to spot, has a decent amount of parking and offers pickup through the drive thru! I opted to go inside, as it's usually less crowded and was greeted by the friendliest faces first thing in the morning! The young women behind the counter were engaging, provided conversation and gave their suggestions of delicious donut flavors! I opted for a half dozen - assorted. I was able to pick whatever little treats I wanted which included - traditional glaze, maple glaze, old fashioned sour cream, sugar dusted, chocolate glaze and a cinnamon crunch donut! Happy to find a LaMar's here. The filled donuts weren't filled quite as much as the ones at the shop in Phoenix, but they were still tasty (you know when the filling doesn't make it to all of the parts of the donut and some bites lack the whole experience?) The donuts were fresh and the coffee was fine, too. If you prefer fancy coffee -- or coffee with more sugary syrup in it -- there's a Starbucks right next door. My brother went in this morning to grab a "manager's dozen". He waited in line was greeted with the usual hurry up what do you want? He started responding when he was rudely cut off and told sorry I don't speak your language and walked away. He told the employee that he was speaking English and although that is his second language it was understandable. He apologized for not speaking the language perfectly but was reading off the list in English. The employee was miraculously able to give him his dozen in different size boxes (yes more than one). Donuts are good and service is reasonably fast! Can be a very long wait though on weekends and holidays if you arrive after 730am. They constantly make new donuts and if they are "temporarily" out of the ones you want they will offer to go in the back and ice one for you. This doesn't always happen though when it's jammed. I'm torn. I love donuts and everyone has been telling me I need to try Lamar's. (They're even on the top 6 donut places in Denver) I was finally able to do so and I'm like eh. We got a raspberry filled with icing and a crunch crumble cake donut. The cake donut was good but there were sprinkles in the crumb that made it overly sweet. The raspberry filled was stuffed to the brim. First of all I couldn't even bite into the donut it was so large and then by the end I was left with all filling and barely any donut. Maybe I got bad pickings because I came around 2pm but the selection was subpar and so were the donuts we chose. Bustling with a parking lot of Starbucks drive through craziness (who thought it was ok to design a situation where folks have to cross a busy drive thru line to enter the donut shop? Not the safest). Others had the same idea...Friday is donut day! Mostly moms with kids - one little dude was getting donuts for his whole class and it was HIS birthday! Cool. Using my standard benchmark of donuts mentioned in the first two installments.....the old fashioned was meh. Cakey and glazey and pretty standard. Nothing to emboss above any others. The fritter was soft on the outside with chunks of apple throughout. It had a subtle cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom flavor to it. The vibe was friendly but a bit weird for those of us who ordered anything less than a dozen. Met with almost puzzled expression. Hey sorry some of us don't need more than two. But if one is needing more than that quickly or for a group this is the place. Large boxes fly out the door as fast as they are boxed up! Closing out this DONUT DELIGHT series, none of the three were any I'd go out of my way for. But it was worth the fun. For the record I did not eat all the donuts but just sampled each. I've found as with most things, we all have our own preferences. So I hope the reviews were helpful and that you will discover and have fun as I did. I think they are a decent middle of the road doughnut shop. They definitely don't beat Krispy Kreme on the moist rating, but the doughnuts are decent. They don't have much kids style doughnuts, but kids are okay with the current variety. They are priced as a premium doughnut, which I think they are alright. Probably because you can go to KK at just about any time of day and get a hot donut. I got a plain glazed donut mid day from Lamar's. It was good. It was yummy and sticky without being overly sweet. But it was a bit heavier and Not as airy as KK. So I got a glazed to go and heated it up in the microwave at home later that night. It was much better that way. It was a bit lighter then.
