Tiny vons with terrible parking! The deli guys were nice enough but the frozen meatballs were all soft and not completely frozen in the freezer case (so I didn't buy them), and when I got home I noticed they had sold me 1-month expired "Simply Potatoes." I won't be going back to this grocery store! read more

I have shopped at Vons for years, I was treated super rude and hostile by a manager. Name Eric! I have never. Left a place soo upset and treated like shit!!! The. Hundreds of dollars I spend a month on food will never be at this Vons. I rather. Go to gelsons, Whole Foods, Ralph's but. Never. This shitty Vons again!!!! read more

Overpriced. No self checkout. Only two registers were open on a busy evening. No customer service on Tuesdays. Seriously?

I don't know WHY I NEVER LEARN!! Every time I give this location another chance. I'm always disappointed. When there's a good sale on meat, I get lured in but 99.9% of the time they're out of stock! Feels like a bait and switch where they entice you with good sale prices, but put very little on the shelves because they know you'll shop for other things and spend money there anyway. This time I just flat out left without shopping for the other things I needed....and don't get me started on that depressing produce department. YIKES! read more

The Vons cake is excellent. For $2.40 you get a huge slice of cake. Chocolate or vanilla. Fudge icing or chocolate icing. I have been eating this cake for over 10 years. It never gets old. D The parking lot is huge and it's next to FedEx, chipotle and other restaurants. This Vons is open 24 hours a day. read more

I live at Vons their prices are higher than food for less or Ralph's but they have more variety. I use the app and save a gang of money plus I'm always looking for money off my fill ups at chevron. They always have friendly cashiers especially the lady at the deli! I will be coming back for years to come. read more

I used to live in Woodland Hills where the Vons/Pavillions was AMAZING. They had a dedicated butcher for meat and you could request for him to cut up roasts in whatever side you wanted as well as certain cuts of meet could be done either thin or thick. They also had a dedicated Sushi chef that would make all of the sushi everyday AND they had a Panda Express inside of the Pavillions. I've now moved to Sherman Oaks and this is the closest Vons I have to me. It just doesn't compare. The lines are always long with not enough registers open. The meat department is horrible. Most of the time when I come they have ran out of the meat that's on sale such as the $5.99 Ribeye. I then have to go to the make shift seafood counter and wait for someone to appear because usually no one is there manning that department. Once they appear they don't even know if they have anything left in the back or not and they have to go check. Honestly I just wish they had a meat counter instead of the seafood. Other than that the Vons is decently clean which is why I give it two stars. Parking is HORRIBLE though. Especially if you try to park on the day that the farmers market is happening. Usually people park in this lot and then go around back and walk over to the farmers market. They really need to patrol this better and tow cars that are parking for the farmers market because it really sucks having to circle for a while to find a decent spot. read more

Terrible service by Melynda. After lugging a 25 pound turkey around to the front of the line, I learned it didn't have a price tag. Well, ole Melynda started hollering that I needed to go get out of line and go get a different one that had a tag. Really?! Shouldn't they have someone come up and do that? I said I couldn't carry it anymore and she told one of her coworkers who was super tiny to go get it weighed. After all that was done she still helped two other customers that were in life after me. Ugh. Terrible store and worse service. read more

This grocery store was horrid today. They did not at all enforce the Covid rules. People were jammed in there, going down the wrong aisles, and coming within a foot. A woman was coughing. I told the manger and he didn't even seem to care, about the customers or his cashiers. They are violating all of the social distancing rules, and frankly putting peoples lives in danger. They should be shut down. read more

I love this place, they bend over backwards to help you. Cathy is one of the managers and she is GREAT. Edgar is also really nice guy other manager. Also going through corona they been great keeping the carts clean and safe for us to use. THANK YOU VON'S read more

They reduced the prices on many of their everyday items. I saw so many "New Low Price" and slashed price signs I could have been at Wal-Mart -- except the employees were happy, there was no acid-tripping creepy smiley face in abundance and no children raised by wildebeests running around. It's nice to see a business lowering it's prices in the middle of a recession instead raising them. Good on ya, Vons! read more

The staff in the store are pretty much always helpful. The cashiers changes over and it's hit or miss if you get treated politely. Wish they would hire more middle aged people who remember what customer service is like. read more

I cannot resist the full-star rating for a grocery store with a real-deal, cheerily-manned Starbucks inside. The grocery store is a grocery store -- it kicks the crap out of the WeHo Gelson's, for instance, and is like the cleaned-up cousin of a top-of-the-line Ralph's -- but there is. A Starbucks. Right. Inside. I went there today and two rabidly cheerful teenagers seemed actually *overjoyed* to make my coffee. As they did, I perused the grapes. It was like a Walt Whitman poem about freedom, joy, and consumption. And when I checked out, the checkout lady was like, "May I help you to your car?" May you! No you may not! You nice, kind checkout lady! You enjoy your damn day! You enjoy it, like I'm enjoying my fantastic coffee! read more

Was in the area with my husband. While he was at his appointment I decided to shop a little. This store is rather small. That was the first thing I noticed. Actually the first thing I noticed was yet another familiar face from Vons Tujunga. This is happening more and more. As I venture outside of my neighborhood and check out the Vons in other areas I see employees who were once staples at my local Vons. Why they tend to disappear leaving us stuck with people like Maria is seeming more and more odd. Maria is a supervisor at Vons Tujunga. I'm wondering if she's the one shipping the good employees out, or if maybe they flee because of her. I'm not certain but it surely does suck for everyday shoppers like myself. I have to shop daily, I not only provide home healthcare for my clients, but I also run most of their errands including trips to the grocery store. Especially during times like now when it simply isn't safe for them to go to stores or anywhere else where their immune systems can be compromised. This store didn't have much of what I was looking for. I purposely choose not to interact with employees after Maria in Tujunga so I can't speak on the ones here. No one made eye contact nor asked if I needed assistance. Checkout time was lengthy, but I had no problems and no rude encounters so I count that as a plus. read more

HORRIBLE!!! Got charged $117 on my credit card for ice and napkins! Who's gonna keep a receipt for that!? The price was totally different at the time of purchase until I checked my account and saw that they over charged! I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN!!!! read more

I used to stop by here for the things I couldn't get on the Farmer's Market on Sunday. Since Vons became the Parking Nazis, complete with security guards and barriers to ensure that people who park there are going to Vons alone, I won't. It's ludicrous. This Vons wasn't that good in any case -- clearly they don't have their priorities really set. It's more important to hire a rent-a-cop to patrol your (somewhat shared) parking lot than to make sure your store is clean, right? Also: why the fuck do you consider your restrooms open to the public when they're passcode locked? Fuck you. read more

Don't come here unless you have a lot of time to kill. It's the slowest store ever. There's always a line, and only ever one or two slow old cashiers workin them. For the love of god just get a self check out stand. read more

Awful! I live and work within walking distance, you would think this would be my go to store but not anymore! They are always out of items (esp in he meat department), they never have enough lines open, I always wait 10+ minutes at least in line, and they don't seem to care! I love Vons and their app, I guess I'll be driving to Burbank from now on! Plus, this store is in dire need of a makeover and competent employees! read more

Four stars because it's like time has stopped inside these walls. A lot of places in Van Nuys are like that. It's strange. I definitely appreciate the oddness of the environment, but it takes a while to get something done at this particular location. read more

This is the crazy Von's. Crazy because there's a lot about this store that makes no sense. I'm sometimes amazed it stays in business. For instance, most grocery stores, just about anywhere in the U.S., are crowded between around 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. That's the time when people get off work and head to the store before going home with dinner in their shopping bags. But this Von's defies that. Where are the crowds? And why isn't this Von's crowded all the time? After all, they have a fairly good selection of food and good wine prices (all Safeways and Vons have good wine prices). And the Starbucks inside Vons is the best-kept secret in Studio City for coffee lovers (No Lines!). The cashiers are friendly but when they do have more than a few people at the checkout line, the management is slow to add more cashiers. Sometimes they don't add extra cashiers at all and there are a bunch of grumbling customers waiting in line. Compare that to Trader Joe's across the way where they'll always add another checker if there's more than a few people in line. So I basically think this Vons is understaffed. There seem to be very few people working here at any one time. That's kind of funny considering the population size of the surrounding community. Vons/Safeway did a big remodel a few years back but other than lower the lights, add some fake wood flooring in the produce department and tint the front windows, I can't tell what other improvements they did. And if you're used to the big Vons or Safeways then the smaller size of this Vons may disappoint you. read more

Literally the worst market ever! Poor produce, sale items always out, and on three occasions bought spoiled seafood. I called to ask if an item was in store and was told I should just come in and ask my questions. What?!? One star because yelp makes you! read more

I kinda hate this store. For one, the parking SUCKS. Not as much as it does at Trader Joe's (I have seen grown men get into a fist fight over a parking spot; I'm not kidding). And the other reason is that my club card NEVER works here. I must have signed up for this thing like twenty times. It is SO annoying. read more

First of all, they were out of 2 of the six things I went for: Organic eggs, peanut butter powder. Definitely have to make another stop. Furthermore, I placed mine baskets on the conveyor belt with my produce inside and it person checking me out said please put the basket away. I informed this person that I did not like having my produce directly on the conveyor belt, and at the same time is saying that she dumped it all onto the conveyor belt saying " The basket is tutee but I cannot reach". Fucking bullshit read more

I've never felt compelled to write a Yelp review about a grocery store before, but I had such a great experience yesterday, that it couldn't go unnoticed. I came in to the store around 6:50 to purchase balloons and a cake for my boyfriend's birthday (which I was running late for). I went to get the balloons first, and Kelly (the reason I am Yelping) helped me. She said she could ring me up for everything at her balloon/flower counter. When she saw that I was purchasing a cake AND frosting/instruments to decorate it with, she offered to take it to the bakery counter and frost it for me! It really meant a lot to me, especially since I was going to have to frost it in the car before heading in to the birthday party. I don't usually shop at that location, but I may have to change that thanks to that kind gesture. Thanks Kelly! read more

Compared to a lot of Vons, this one needs a makeover. The selection of virtually everything is so limited it seems more like some kind of market you'd find in a center city, and the homeless people who greet you outside add to the ambiance. A lot of the food seems like it's close to the expiration date but it's hard to judge how busy it is because the checkout lines are always so long. Go to the Ralph's at Coldwater or deal with the parking at Trader Joe's across the street-they are both so much nicer and better, fresher selection. read more

I like this tons. They have fresh sandwiches and other groceries as well. Sometimes I stop in to get lunch and grab a sandwich on the go. The staff have always been friendly towards me and others around me. Keep up the good work Vons. read more

Everyone is so nice here! I bought bananas here the other day, 3 for $1.01, and didn't even need to show my Von's card. So efficient! Clean, nice service, and convenient (2 hour limit) parking lot. The parking lot can be shared with other business such as BevMo, CVS Pharmacy, and Panera, which are right across the way : ) read more

I'm standing eight deep on a checkout line in the middle of the day. The guy behind me just gave up and left. If you can't make it easy for me to pay, don't expect me to shop here. read more

Good meat selection and great deals on Fridays on many items, especially desserts. Carlos is great in the deli. Always friendly and helpful.

Not too fancy but the staff is always so helpful. We love Carlos in the deli section. He is always so helpful and friendly. He gives the best recommendations and always let's us try different things to help us make a selection. read more

This Vons is just.. Eh. It's down the street from me so I just go here but I wish their produce selection was better. Everything is always almost rotting and they barely even have much anyway. read more

Because this location is practically outside my door, I'm a frequent shopper of this Von's. However, the many negatives never surprise me. The management, customer service, selection ... all horrible. Not much else to say, but to avoid it as much as possible. read more

I enjoyed this vons , was pleasantly surprised by the meat section & they had drinks and essentials I needed as well. Thank you for not being another tofu market! I will definitely start shopping here for all my needs. Aisles are a little thin and people who patronize here act like their shit don't stink, but I can act like a bitch too, especially when a pencil thin tofo eating bitch is blocking (and drooling over) the meat section knowing she won't buy the shit for fear of gaining an ounce...and i can't comment regarding their hot deli / soups & sandwiches section because I steer clear of that area in lieu of actually being able to shop for foods I can myself prepare. read more

My family (and I) have been shopping in this center for over 60 years. It is LONG known that crazies/beggars/con people inhabit this area and have for decades. For those that have complained about the parking, this is an OLD area of the Valley and things are smaller. Keep that in mind. Deli service is friendly, hot foods are fresh and the rotisserie chickens and fried chicken are outstanding. Excellent sandwiches, also. Recent changes in the store have caused the shelves to be well stocked. I go early in the day, so that's a good reason why. I have seen Craft Services in there early, buying large quantities of produce. (I wish they would use a purchase order.) I don't care for the changes now (Albertson's related) since I detested Albertson's. Unfortunately, ALL grocery stores are pulling this stuff. I'm happy to be a customer here and have gleefully left overpriced Ralphs behind with their poor quality. This store also donates leftover to charity and very generously, too. The people that work here are terrific. read more

The only thing keeping this place from being a 3 star average place are the employees. One thing I liked about this Von's is that they are almost all very friendly and helpful, and will ask you if you need help when you pass them in aisles. Pros: Staff, Parking, Decent selection Cons: Understaffed checkouts, Seafood section death-smell (OMG horrible), bum often guarding entrance, deli sometime unmanned, dingy I most often shopped here and enjoyed running into my favorite employees pretty regularly. Product selection was average, produce seemed fresh, pretty much what you'd expect from a grocery store. It was a little dingy - needs more lighting, needs more ppl on staff at registers but can't discredit the ee's as they were efficient & helpful. Oh, the seafood section was blasphemous - so bad as to offend God. I don't know if they hid bodies back there or what, but the smell has got to go. It seemed to not spread much further than the seafood section and bakery, but there's something unappetizing about being in a bakery that smells like a week-old crab roll. If you go here regularly, you will inevitably encounter the (presumably homeless) Jamaican guy on the electric scooter guarding the entrance. Give him a couple bucks and tell him to turn his damn music down. People are here to grocery shop, not to f***ing smoke from a hookah and chill out. That's up the street. read more

I was in town visiting relatives but know better now to never come back to this place - the place is a dump, products expensive, and the staff is rude! The seafood counter employee, an older black man, clearly hates his job. He got annoyed with me for having to repeat his question and then he heaved these big sighs for the rest of our very short encounter. He did not answer me when I asked him to remove the skin from the salmon filets. I asked him again and he said, YES . I . WILL! His voice was raised; his tone was harsh; and there was a pause in between his words. I was quite taken aback by this! He then offended me again by asking me if I wanted anything else, in the same rude and condescending voice! I told him yes, he could put everything back. I had to circle the front of the store a couple of times before finding another employee, who also seemed to hate his job, he told me where the manager was without looking at me or even slowed down. The store manager was another let down, she didn't seem to care! The way she was acting, I wasn't so sure she would talk to the rude fish man. I went down the street to Trader Joe's, wow, what a difference in attitude and work ethic! Prices were much better too! After paying, I said loudly enough for people around me to hear how I like the store so much better than Von's! read more

The Grocery store is great here always friendly employees and short lines. However, the Deli is a whole different story. The employees in the deli are not at all friendly and have some of the worst food safety habits I've ever seen. I can and have overlooked the occasional wiping of their hands on various clothing articles but today was definitely the last straw and I will never go back. While waiting in line for my turn to order today I witnessed an employee assisting another customer return from the back area of the deli and wipe her nose and then proceed to continue making the customers sandwich! I'll have my sandwich without snot thank you very much! Instead I left and went to Panera instead. read more
