I have such a love/hate affair with this store: great beer and wine selection, large produce area and very nice cheese/deli/hot food offerings. It's a really big store (maybe too big) so you can usually find whatever you're looking for. The MAJOR drawback with this place is the ridiculously understaffed checkout. There are only two, maybe three lanes open even on busy days. The "express" line is never open (I honestly never have seen it open in the years I've been going there.) Plus the self-serve checkout system constantly malfunctions (especially if you bring your own bag), plus you can't purchase alcohol in the self-serve lane any how. So you come here knowing that you'll wait in line 15 minutes average, or you can go to another store which has a shorter wait but not as good selection. C'mon Safeway Corporate, how hard is it to open another lane or two during busy times? read more

I love this vons. It's newer and more open. When you walk in its very spacious. The meat department is excellent especially when Juan is working. He went out of his way to help. He went in the back and cut some spare ribs special for me. I was so thankful that he was able to do this. read more

Was in store today and my 8 yr old asked a woman named Mackie in the bakery section about when bread are baked fresh. She ignored him at first, but eventually gave him a very rude answer. I go out of my way to shop here and to be treated this way is not right. read more

I used to live next to another vons of fair oaks. That was probably the worst vows. Security constantly, EVERYTHING was locked, no self check outs. So to that one this one is heaven. Such a breeze going through this vons. Definitely one of the better ones in the Pasadena area. read more

This Von's may look like a high level store on the outside but I bought an Open Nature Greek Yogurt ice Cream on Oct 19 and foolishly did not look at the expiration date -- Ate a bowl full and got very sick - I later looked at the bottom of carton -- the expiration date was May 14 2016 -- that's 5 months old!! I will be contacting my attorney over this and contacting the Local Health Deparment and the Regional Directors for Von's-- this is really unacceptable for Von's -- read more

the deli section is very good ..especially the seasoned workers. the new workers are very slow. i ordered three sandwiches and the old timers that work there completed them in min. the new worker only had one sandwich to make and was still working on putting it together when i left. so far as the checkers go, nancy and rosa are perfect. however when i went there they were quite busy so i went into another line. i was told the line was closed, so i went back to rosas line. the checkcer a man kept on checking other customers even after i was told he was closed. this made me so angry and i was told by the manager it was a misunderstanding. how could this be a misunderstanding if he told me he was closed and still kept on taking other customers after i went into another line... not good. read more

Had one of the worst experiences at this store. First, parking is an issue, but its the customer service that is the worst at this store. Bought bologna and then found out it was expired. Customer service rep, Carlos Alvarado told me it was my fault for using the self check out instead of having an employee ring me up! Worst customer service ever. He had someone go and check to do an exchange and all the ones on the shelf were expired! Beware of the food you buy. Always check the expiration date TWICE. Then talked to the manager on duty and he said he was busy and I needed to come the next day to see the store director. Stay away from this store! Never coming back to shop here!!!! read more

I really hate this Vons store, unfortunately it is probably the closest supermarket around my area. The inside of the supermarket is super ghetto and dirty. There are couple homeless people like to hang around on the entrance beg for money and once in awhile they'll say something to make you feel bad if you don't give them money. There is one creepy guard gave me this weird stare when walked in and out of the store, made me feel really uncomfortable. I try to avoid going there unless I am too lazy to go somewhere far for groceries. read more

Overall, it's not a bad store. I give them low rating because of a deli clerk there by the name of Preston. I feel that last time I was at the deli, he was rude to me and I felt like he thought he was doing me a favor. I think he might have a chip on his shoulder because of the piss poor customer service he provided me. If just avoid the store, but if you must goto the store, then I think you should avoid Preston at the deli counter. read more

The Vons had its grand opening on 6/30. I went today and the market looks wonderful! There were a ton of samples in the early afternoon and everyone was so nice. It was busy as the street-level parking was full so we had to park on the roof. The store has a wine cellar and it was neat to walk in and oogle at the $200+ wines. There is a sommelier there too. Starbucks is also in the market. I'll have to visit it again as I didn't get a chance to check out everything. read more

Don't shop at this store!! I was there tonight and they were removing THAWED out freezer products to a back cooler where they were going to store the items until the freezer was fixed and then replace them on the shelves only to be purchased later by unsuspecting customers! What a ripoff! Clearly Von's doesn't care about their customers health and safety - they only want the money so they don't have to "eat" the expense of ruined products. read more

I went to this store mainly to buy Steaks and Seafood thinking they must have quality food and that it would be much fresher than Walmart, WRONG! I brought home these very expensive Ranchers steak only to find that underneath that shiny red they displayed was a brownish green underside that smelled like sour milk, returned it to the store only to come home and find that it was no different with the second batch, being that I don't live near this Von's it was really killing me in gas. So I called and spoke to the manager and of course I got the typical "Oh I'm sorry about that, if you return to the store we will give you a refund and give you free meat", why would I want more? Gross! They refused to refund my gas that I had to keep driving out to return horrible food. Bought Crab Legs, they smelled horribly fishy and after I steamed them, I realized the inside meat was brown, I wouldn't recommend anything from the butcher section. read more

I went into the newly renovated store last week,it's nice but we,as customers will be paying for all that "niceness" The day before I went to the Vons on Allen,eggs were .99,the same size,same brand,the same eggs were 1.99 at this store,when I mentioned it to the cashier she said,yea,last week we had peaches for .59 and the other stores didn't." ??? was I talking about peaches??? I asked 3 different employees were the egg roll wrappers were,not 1 employee bothered to show me,one said,against the wall,pointing in the general direction,another asked a another employee they both said,"I don't know?? The cashier asked me if I found everything ok,when I said no egg rolls,she said "oh". Why ask? The produce dept.is laid out very akward,produce here,there everywhere! I won't shop here if I'm in a hurry! We did without this store for months,I won't be shopping there often, not until the newness wears off and it's been paid for,maybe then the prices will match the other Von's markets! read more

The new Von's is amazing... The Produce section is the best I have ever seen! The tables are trendy, lower (so you can see what your looking for from across the store), and easy to shop. The only complaint I have is since they put products under the tables I have bought a lot of stuff I usually wouldn't have! The craisons were great though so how can I complain! I have moved them up two stars. Things run like a well oiled machine here. I can handle a few extra $ because customer service is a focus in all departments. The amount of staff in aisles offering help. Special requests from all departments handled very quickly. As for the Deli, it did get better. I find I can call in my requests and they will be ready for when I come in. Kudo's to this management team, your getting it right. I did email their corporate office to give a compliment to them. Was there on Monday busy as heck, and everyone went out of their way to help me from special orders to finding hard to find items. That my friends is customer service! read more

This was my first time coming to this Vons. I was amazed because it was really nice looking and really big but the reason for the 1 star is for the service I received at the Grab N Go. I got a "create a combo" and the food was really dry. However, going back to the service, the lady behind the register let a man cut in line in front of me which i let go because I wasn't in that much of a hurry but once it got to my turn to pay she began yelling (conversating) with another employee who was standing somewhere behind me. She kept talking about how her coworker better help her find a man and how she wants him. Not only that but she was barely even servicing me. I had to look at the screen to see what my total was because she was too busy telling her coworker what kind of man she wants. Last time I checked it is inappropriate to have extremely loud conversations of such topics while a customer is present or in need of service. Won't get food at the Grab N Go ever again but maybe will go for grocery shopping. read more

Very clean Von's. Plenty of parking and helpful staff. I will give it a 4 star instead of a 5 star because there aren't enough checkouts available. The lines are very long. And I don't like this $.10 cents for a bag business. Keep forgetting to bring my own bags! All in all, impressed by the supermarket. read more

The store is very large, clean, and fairly easy to shop. The sushi is really good. They used to have a lot more variety, including some inventive vegetarian sushi (which was AMAZING). Unfortunately it's really hard to find any veggie sushi here now besides the standard avocado and cucumber rolls, and sometimes a regular veggie roll or wrap. I would seriously come across town just fir the veggie sushi, but I've made so many trips recently to find little to no options, so i've stopped coming. Last time I asked the sushi maker if they could make the mango roll I liked. She was super nice and made me a roll with mango, but it wasn't the one they used to make there (partially my fault, i could remember what it was called so I had to describe it and she made the closest she could to it). Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I miss my mango avocado roll with the spicy mayo sauce that used to be there regularly. Wish they would bring it back and have a few more regular veggie options that are more inventive than the standard stuff you can get at any place that makes sushi. read more

If i could rate this place -100 , trust me i would . I go to this Vons at least 3 times a week, basically i buy all my grocery stuff, and anything that i need from this store . I spend at least $800 a month to shop here , but to be honest , i will think twice before i go there again ! I really liked here because everything is organize, and the most important thing: friendly customer service . Today i received the worst customer service from Shelly . She was extremely rude , i just really wanted to ask her : where all this attitude comes from? But i just let it go , but guess what, she started throwing the stuff at the table like she hated her job so bad ! Lady if u hate to deal with customers then go and find another job! Why do u give the worst attitude to the customers and ruin their day? Dont forget that : your paycheck comes from the customers money . store is great, as long as you shop before 9:00. after that the stockers are going to work and the aisles are full of pallets, often you can barely get by them. the stockers are not particularly polite or helpful. I understand stockers don't want to work late, but if your store is open till 12, your aisles should be too. read more

I went here to buy nacho cheese sauce but they had a small one. So instead of walking wi3th out anything I went and grabbed a beer. Went to self check out since they had more then 6 people per line. Signs all around say 3 is crowd. 1st lie..then I passed the sign that said I couldn't buy a beer at the check out. But after reviewing it it said to go make my purchase and an associate would help me with the sale after I scan it. The lady came at me all defensive talking about signs and all. She pointed at the screen and it also said she would help me with it. Instead of assistance she refused the sale and lost that revenue. She made me feel like I was un welcomed. She didn't know I was handicapped and that I can't stand for long periods of time. This happened at the vons in Pasadena on Thursday around 5:10pm. I understand of policy that are in place. As a customer they team member that didn't help me, loss revenue, should had apologized and informed me instead of making me feel un welcomed because I'm handicapped. read more

this vons is amazing. the parking lot is not huge but inside, it's like you walked into a cathedral and opera. there is a massive selection of everything at very good prices. the produce aisles are so wide it's like heaven. and the deli/bakery area is enormous. i love this place. read more

do not ever order any special order flowers from this vons!!! i had come into the vons on sierra madre blvd and ordered one week in advance 2 flower leis for my daughter's pcc graduation . i even went into the store 3 days before the graduation to make sure my order was going to be fulfilled. the morning of the graduation i receive a call from them stating that my order did not come in, and they would call around to see if they came into any other vons..i quickly ran over to the vons and they said they did not know why my order did not come in. i asked them if they had any kind of system to double check special orders like mine. they had no answer and only said fot me to start calling some of the other retail florists in the area...i called back and spoke to the assistant manager who offered me a gift card for my trouble. this should never have happened . it may be a big and beautiful brand new store, but if they do not have the quality customer service and follow up with their customers to make sure they are taken care of, i don't feel i can order anything else from them, whether its flowers of a child's birthday cake, or any other special occasion items without fear of it just not happening with no follow through... read more
