DONT DO IT. This store is ran by its employees. Management is absent 24/7. They REFUSE to order merchandise and laugh at customers who make requests that weekly ad items are available and in stock. There are a few employees who are helpful and polite, but they don't work every day. The employees are trying to shut this store down like they did to the Pasadena Pavilions. Is corporate paying attention? I don't think so.

Impressive selection! The multitude of choices was mesmerizing! And everyone in the store was helpful such an enjoyable experience from the produce section to bakery staff all are focused and they know their stuff.. Synchronized answers to where the products in the store are located and I passed on self check out to have the best customer service experience from their friendly helpful cashier .Clean cozy and mega choices abound well stocked sparkling lively environment with ample parking! Urban grocery shopping at its finest!

This Vons is one of the best grocery stores around. The prices seem fair and the service that I've received has always been friendly. If I have a hard time finding an item, I've been able to find a staff member to help me find it. They have a wide selection of choices on most of their products. I enjoy walking through all the fresh fruits and vegetables that are on display. If you want organic they have it! I like their large fresh deli section which includes a sushi bar. The aromas from the deli will definitely make you hungry! They have a large selection of fresh made salads and soups of every combination imaginable ...very convenient. They have a great wine, beer, and liquor area. Most aisles are wide enough for two carts With the great selection of regular grocery items, there is a butcher available, as well as a fresh seafood area. The flower shop has fresh cut flowers and potted plants. There is a Starbucks near the front entrance. Elevators are available to the parking lot upstairs. There is ground level parking, which can be very crowded at times. Fast checkout with self-service machines. You can also check out through a regular line. I really enjoy shopping at this excellent Vons store, located on the corner of Sierra Madre Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard.

I'm a neighbor to this Vons and make weekly if not daily visits. If you're shopping this Vons for the first time please know that this is a high volume high traffic Vons, but the location is beautiful and the inventory is plentiful. In the distant past, wait times have been long and dreadful, especially if you're a mom with kids. As of late the team has been swift and kind. There's been a noticable improvement to customer service. It was good before now it's great! I want to especially shoutout to Alison who, today, took initiative and helped disperse multiple long lines into the self-check out while STILL helping lost customers, questions and co workers. She showed great leadership, quickness and kindness throughout what seemed like a high pressure situation for the store. Awesome job Alison! We appreciate you!

I'm going to miss this store and this area altogether. I like this Vons a lot and stop by whenever I need something quick before going to work. The store is very clean, as well as the restrooms. Everyone I've ever encountered here is super welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Back home, I don't really shop at Vons since it's more on the pricey side and I typically prefer to buy in bulk to be cost efficient. However, they do have good deals if you have the app so make sure to take advantage of that!!

Tri tip with over a pound and a half of untrimmed fat I had to cut off myself.
    Emily M.

Asked for a Tri Tip yesterday. The employee had to go to the back to get one and when he came back it was over 5 lbs (much larger than a normal Tri Tip). It was busy so did not bother complaining at the time but when I got home the meat was completely untrimmed and had over a pound of a half of excess fat on it. They took no care at all to make sure the meat was cut and trimmed correctly. I don't expect perfection from Vons but the butchers have one job... and either couldn't or wouldn't do it properly.

Dear Pasadena Public Health Department Environmental Health Division,…read more I am writing to formally report a serious health code violation and unsanitary conditions observed at Ralphs Grocery Store, located at 160 N. Lake Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101. Incident Details * Date of Observation: Monday, July 27, 2026 * Time of Observation: Approximately 3:00 PM * Location Inside Store: Self-serve bagel and bread display cabinet Description of the Violation The self-serve bagel and bread display case was teeming with flies. Numerous insects were actively flying inside the cabinet and crawling directly all over the uncovered food products. I have captured clear video evidence documenting this infestation, which is available upon request for your investigation. Public Health Risks and Concerns This environment poses an immediate and severe health risk to consumers for several critical reasons: * Pathogen Transmission: Flies carry over 100 dangerous pathogens. They easily transfer hazardous bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, and Shigella from external waste directly onto the food surfaces. * Direct Contamination: Because flies liquefy solid food, they regurgitate digestive enzymes and defecate on the bakery items. This leaves live bacteria and viruses behind. * Ready-to-Eat Hazards: These items are sold as ready-to-eat foods. Consumers eat them without cooking or heating them first, meaning there is no kill-step to destroy the transferred pathogens. This creates a high probability of foodborne illness. * Prolonged Exposure: The enclosed nature of the display cabinet traps the flies inside, leading to a high concentration of continuous contamination on the food. This active infestation indicates a critical failure in store sanitation, inadequate pest control management, and a clear violation of California retail food safety codes. Please initiate a health inspection of this facility as soon as possible to address this hazard and protect the public. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Well they have super long lines and no baggers. So the cashier has to bag and it can take so much…read moreextra time. Unless you the customer bags your own stuff. But the elderly can't do that so it's why the lines are so long. Now here is the kicker. At the end of the checking line is a manager ...sometimes 2. A man and a woman. They are observing the long lines...counting something...just observing. It would help if THEY just go to the end of a long line and start bagging! See, that would be cool! You see you guys have not scheduled any baggers and the lines are so long they are down the aisles .. and you are just standing there? Of course they may say, well that's not my job. But that's the mentality that keeps things moving slow. It would be so nice if people just did what it takes to keep things moving. Either hire enough people OR get in there and start bagging! I remember back in the days there was a bagger at the end of each checkout aisle. A bagger and a casher! Those days are gone ...and most stores now see if they can get away with overworking the checker! Next thing you know they install self check outs! Rather than hire people and keep a system of people working they just get rid of people and have 1 person observing (like these managers were doing). What a world we are moving towards. But anyways that's what you see. I wish they would just hire bag boys and go back to the good ol days.

I wanted to try their tacos, rice, and beans which I did... very good by the way. Besides that, I so desired to seek out their ceviche selection which I did as well. I got to try 5 different ceviches... spicy fish, spicy shrimp, shrimp + avocado + mango (non-spicy), butterfly shrimp (aguachile), and spicy shrimp (aguachile rojo). They also have non-spicy fish and shrimp ceviches. Thanks Scott for the free samples! I loved the citrus taste of the spicy shrimp and shrimp + avocado + mango! I think they need to make a spicy version of the latter or combine it with spicy shrimp. Just my 2 cents! I ended up with about half a pound of each ceviche flavor. After taking my first bite, I said to myself, "I should have gotten 1 to 2 lbs of each instead especially when it was on sale for $9.99 per lb." I won't make that same mistake next time LOL. During my visit, I was very impressed with the different sections of the store starting with La Cocina a La Panadería (Bakery) a La Verdulería (Produce) a La Pescadería (Seafood (ceviches made fresh daily is here)) a La Cremeria (Dairy). They even have the guacamole and aguas frescas made to order stations. How cool is that! Store was bright and clean. Aisles were organized and well stocked. Mexican food and groceries selections are massive. Lots of the foods are freshly made in-house daily. Prices are very reasonable. They have inside and outside dining space for customers to sit and eat. Free parking is plenty. Staff was super friendly and nice. I will definitely be visiting Vallarta again soon!

It went straight to the trash, and never will I buy pizza from here again. Another time, the pizza stand was completely empty and I saw numerous packaged pizza doughs that looked like they had been out and over proofing for wayy too long! It wasn't refrigerated, and when I asked what happened, they said the burner broke down. If that's the case , you need to refrigerate the dough or hire someone that cares enough to handle food properly there. The cashiers never smile, don't make eye contact, and never greet you. They all look miserable ALL THE TIME! One time a cashier filled up one of my bags with really heavy groceries then told me to put it in the cart. I tried to pick it up and almost got a hernia ,and so I told him it's too heavy and I can't pick it up, and he just ignored me. He didn't try to put it in the cart himself because even he couldn't (it was so heavy). He didn't have the common sense or decency to even try emptying some of it into another bag . He just stood there, said nothing. (I ended up doing that myself) I tried to cut some slack for these guys, and give them the benefit of the doubt, and I've never once been rude to anyone there (even when I felt I had every right) I still kept quiet. However, the consistency of the horrendous customer service skills is disgraceful and disgusting. Where are the managers? Who is on the hiring committee? Why aren't any of these people getting proper training? Where is quality control? It's sad that standards are so low at this location that you treat your long time loyal customers this bad. Truly a shame. If I was a health inspector, I'd be shutting down your pizza center first, then I'd fire every single cashier there and train proper human beings to work with human beings.
