Fair. Originally walked in here for the soft opening of babs diner, which was advertise outside of the store but unfortunately it wasn't happening yet. We still decided to sit and try out the Korean food. It's decent but not my favorite. The ramen was practically packaged instant noodles with added veggies and half an egg and a slice of pork. I wouldn't order it again, you can make it at home. The bi bim bap was decent I have no complaints, it was good. Also tried their Vons special sauce oven chicken wings which was fair, not nasty and not something I would crave again. I think what was most enjoyable was the ban chan. I've been going here for over a year now and it's kinda hit or miss. Last time we there the bulgogi was very dry/ over cooked almost burnt and we were not able to eat it. For a $28.00 dish this was unacceptable. I get it they overcooked it. They don't want to waste food or lose money. So they served it to us anyway hoping we didn't notice. We are not the type to send it back and risk something happening to our food. It should have never been served to us. Yes, they got away with it this time, but at what cost? The short ribs were cooked to perfection & the texture was soft & chewy. The Yangnyeom was extremely crispy & the sause has a nice tangy flavor to it. The customer service was good, as the server gave us more time when we ask for it. She also clarified some questions I had about the menu. We love fried chicken, but we especially love Korean Fried Chicken. So when this restaurant showed up on Yelp, it was a must try for us. Von's is located in a small shopping plaza right off the 780 freeway. The location is easy to get to with plenty of parking. Walking in, the restaurant is spacious and clean. Their menu consists of the traditional Korean items like bulgogi and bibimpap but with additional items such as Korean Corn Dogs and of course, the fried chicken. We ordered the kimchi fried rice, French fries, garlic fried chicken and crispy fried chicken. The server who waited on us was very kind and patient. I loved how we would make certain choices and he would respond with "good choice". Now, onto the food. Of course the chicken took a bit of time, but it is required to make sure it cooks all the way through. We ordered the garlic fried chicken in medium spice which was a little too hot for me but perfect for my hubby. The regular fried chicken was nice and crispy but still juicy inside. We also ordered their honey butter French fries which was a nice combination of salty and sweet. It was a powder so it didn't make the fries soggy. The Kimchi fried rice was a bit too spicy for my daughter but had a lot of flavor. This spot is close enough to our home that it will be our new go to for Korean fried chicken. This time we tried the hot (spicy) one (half mild & half hot) and It's rally good but my spicy tolerance is low so my bf ate all the spicy one (he likes it A LOT). Both were great! 6 pcs Wing Special w/ Honey Butter - Comes with big pieces generously coated with powder flavor and a choice of rice or fries on the side (I chose rice). The savory sweetness of the chicken is superb and one of my favorite flavor combos! It also came with a side of pickled radish which compliments the chicken well. Happy to see Korean Fried Chicken has expanded out of the Bay Area into Vallejo. I've seen different Von's locations around but this was my first time eating at one. May come back for the honey butter chicken. Easy parking in the same plaza as Safeway. The inside and amount of seating is a lot bigger/more than you'd expect from this strip mall location. We ordered the tteokbokki, honey butter fried chicken, the mild yangnyeom fried chicken, and for dessert the fish shaped ice cream. The prices seemed a little high, ($18 for one order of fried chicken) but the portions were very generous and afterwards I thought it was fair. The fried chicken pieces were the largest I've ever had. One order would easily feed two people. I had leftovers for lunch the next day. The tteokbokki was spicier than expected. Not bad, but just more than I could handle that day. It was good the next day. The honey butter fried chicken was delicious! It tasted just like the Korean honey butter chips. The fried chicken is also large, juicy, and the breading tasty without being overwhelming. I didn't really like the yangnyeom mild flavor. It tasted like tomato or marinara sauce. The spicier version may have been better. I'd skip that next time and just go for the honey butter crispy flavor. The ice cream fish was disappointing... it had clearly melted and been refrozen. The texture of the waffle was mushy/off. The seams of the fish were not aligned and ice cream melted and re-froze around them. Skip the ice cream. read more

Partly blame the young lady for not noticing me waiting for the rest of my order while she takes care of every Togo that walks in. Dining in here can be a horrible experience. Sat down, no one brings menus. Ordered up front and sat back down. Appetizers come, but then my main dish arrives, but not the rice, the banchan, nothing. I was surprised by the format of this Vons. I'm used to other locations being like a pick-up-and-go situation. I liked that there were so many lunch options! The restaurant was packed with families when we came, which was great. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. Our crispy chicken was excellent, with a perfect fry. The japchae was also amazing! Our biggest criticism is that they play youtube videos of people butchering raw meat and intenstines. It's really unappetizing to see while you're trying to enjoy your meal. Management needs to reign that in and make sure they are aware of what kind of content is showing and how it adds or takes away from the atmosphere of the restaurant. read more

This is my favorite restaurant of all time. I have had korean food in LA, SF... and this is hands down the best korean fried chicken, tofu soup, army stew and short ribs anywhere. Their kimchi fried rice isn't great, and its a bit pricey but aside from that, everything else is seriously so good. Every time I come to Vallejo, I have to eat here. Yo if you love fried chicken, you needa add Von's to your list. They have quite a few flavaflavs to choose from but their honey butter chicken is my favorite. It' sweet and salty, with a hint of honey; you must try it honay. Mm! Von's is located within the Safeway shopping plaza, right next to a cannabis dispensary so you cant miss it. You have to wait to be seated but the two times I was here, we didn't have a problem waiting. They offer popular korean dishes such as bibimbop, soon tofu stew, galbi-jjim, noodles and much more. I got chicken to-go here for my first Von's experience. I ordered their yang-Nyum and the soy garlic chicken boneless. They were still warm when I picked them up and took them to my friend's place in AmCan. Both flavaflav's were delicious. Yang-Nyum is sweet with a splash of spicy and the soy garlic was good, but not as good as Bonchon's (their soy garlic is still the top contender) During the 1st dine in, we didn't have to wait to be seated for it wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. My friends ordered ramen, teokbokki rice cakes, beef stone bibimbop and half honey butter/half vons special sauce. I ordered the beef tofu soup and korean cheese/corn dog. The ramen and tofu soup came we egg and the waitress offered to crack them into our soup for us. Service was topnotch and they checked up on our table frequently. We received a bunch of banchan to munch on with our meals. I loved the beef tofu soup, it was very hot (temp wise) but it was flavorful and comforting on a cold day. The corn dog was crispy and coated in sugar. I dipped it in ketchup and it was 'licious. It had a nice cheese pull and the hot dog was tasty. Y'all already know I loved the honey butter, it's such a unique flavaflav combo. The von's special sauce, I wasn't a fan. I remember it being a bit spicy and smokey, yet it was had some sweetness to it; wasn't really my cup of tea. The mandu was yummy, and something you can't go wrong with. It came with a nice dipping sauce. The teokbokki was good, especially with the cheese. The 2nd dine in experience wasn't great in terms of service for it was busy on a Friday night. I mean we were seated quickly even though my whole party wasn't present yet (party of 5). We had to wait a while to flag a waitress down to order and when we got our order they didn't give us plates and utensils so we had to go and ask for some. We ordered honey butter chicken and soy garlic, ramen and tofu soups. They forgot our eggs for our soup so they bought it out but didn't crack it for us and they didn't really check up on us and we needed more water. We did enjoy our food though. Overall, great chicken and korean food. Service can be a hit or miss depending when you go. Prices are reasonably. I'll be back for more chicken and tofu soup! read more

A pretty solid Korean fried chicken spot! The honey butter chicken was the winner for us! We ordered online for pick up and the process was simple and service was quick. This was different and nice because your hands don't get all sticky - half cheddar - this powder seasoning was just ok.
