I've been here twice within the last year and I've had some really good food. And some very underwhelming food too, unfortunately. Both times I've gotten the crispy bang bang chicken and it has been delicious! It is an appetizer but it quite honestly is enough to fill you up. I've had the pasta here and the pasta itself was nice however the sauce was quite bland in flavor. I believe I had gotten the Mac and Cheese, as it was the most recommended, yet it fell short for me. Their pizza however, has always been delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here for a bite, as I too plan on coming back. The service here has always been super nice and friendly. I got the salmon pasta and it was amazing! I love that the salmon was moist and the sauce had so much flavor. The firmness of the pasta made the whole dish super balanced. I've been to Vons many times between happy hour and dinner and I've consistently had a great experience Food: The food here is great, pastas are homemade from sourdough and is always cooked to perfection. We particularly love the spicy rig. The nashville hot chicken sandwhich was served on a brioche bun and was crispy with the right amount of spice. There is the option to add fries or salad for additional charge. Drinks: Vons has a variety of drinks from cocktails, beers, and signature drinks. Dined at Von's 1000 Spirits while visiting Seattle one night. We called ahead when we were on our way there and got on the waitlist, so we only waited about 10 minutes despite it being very busy. Although it was crowded and loud it wasn't so loud that we couldn't have a conversation comfortably. Our server was very friendly, but she didn't come around often enough. I ordered the fish and chips and it was fantastic! It was only one piece of fish, but it was huge, and fried perfectly. It came with a very good tartar sauce as well as a very generous portion of fries, which may have been even better than the fish! They were crispy on the outside and seasoned just right. I paired my meal with a glass of their Red Hammer Blend which was very good. For dessert, my husband and I split the carrot cake. While it was good - the whip cream was delicious, I found a spice they used in it a little bit overpowering. My kids had the Campfire Rocky Road Pie and they really enjoyed it. Conveniently located by all the shops you'll want to visit in downtown, Von's 1000 Spirits is the place for sourdough pizza and pasta. Upon arrival, I was asked by the host and server if this was the first time I had dined in. It seemed like a friendly enough question, and perhaps it makes sense if they process a lot of take-out orders. I ordered the huckleberry bramble, which was tart and nicely balanced. The huckleberry was poured into the drink at my table, which was a fun way to present the cocktail. The bacon, apple, and blue pizza was really tasty. It's good for sharing between two or three people. During my visit, the couple next to me was enjoy their meal, when one of them who was doing a whiskey flight, somehow broke 2 of his 5 glasses. I think he went to set a glass down on the table and missed the table and hit another glass. The glass went everywhere. The staff cleaned it up and the host came to check on me to make sure I was okay and no glass hit me. But I'm not sure what my server thought happened, because she kind of rushed me out of there afterwards. I was only there 40 minutes when she brought the check. I would have happily hung out for another drink because the vibe is really fun. I noticed she also cashed out the glass smashing table at the same time too. Maybe her shift was ending and she just wanted to get out of there? Either way, it was just kind of an uncomfortable way to end my time there when I wasn't the one who was drunk or destructive. I've come to Vons about 5 times now and I love the food every time! My go to is their pesto pasta and getting some sort of pizza, whatever interests me that day. Their pasta has a wonderful texture that's not mushy with a slight bounce and their special spiral shape soaks up all of the sauce. Despite coming here multiple times I guess I never wrote a review but after my recent experience going there during my birthday I was pleasantly surprised with an ice cream cup and sparkler at the end of my meal. Great hospitality! Also the ice cream was so delicious and vanilla-y. I'd say their dishes overall are kinda pricey BUT it's delicious and for their pastas I usually have leftovers to take home. Every-time we have come been here there is a wait but it is definitely worth it. If you have a Washington ID you receive a 25% discount Monday - Friday between 11-2. Our normal go to order is to start with the burrata which comes with a baguette on a bed of pesto. We usually order extra pesto because it's so good! The burrata is so fresh and creamy. The sourdough is some of the best I've ever had. This time we added an order of crispy bang bang chicken. That might be my new favorite item. The chicken was crispy and tender with the sauce being delicious. It was on a bed of carrots which add a nice crunch. I can see why people may love coming here, it's in downtown Seattle and been around for a while, but I think they need to work on their service a bit more. So happy we finally had a chance to try this restaurant! I'd heard about it for a while, and since we happened to be in the area, we decided to stop in for lunch. We came on a weekday, so there wasn't much of a wait when we arrived. By noon, though, the place filled up quickly with office workers. This has got to be THE BEST meal we've had on our entire trip! My entire family LOVED everything we had here. Von's (no relation to the supermarket) is located on top of the Harbor Steps, a couple blocks south of the Pike Place Market. Don't get misled by the small store front, because it leads to plenty of seating towards the back, as well as to an outdoor patio for al fresco dining. Von's specializes in their sourdough pasta and pizza using their 75 year old sourdough. They have some fun machine called the Sourdough Pasta Engine that makes their pasta. So cute. They even have something called a Wagering Wheel where they spin every 30 minutes for random drink special - ooh yeah...!!! We ordered: * Von's Spring Chicken Cobb - the dressing was soooo good and the chicken was tender. My kids actually kept wanting more salad if you can believe that. * Spicy "Rigs" Sourdough pasta - it came with a Savor Spear Gin pink sauce that was sooo tasty. The lemon ricotta on top was a perfect compliment for the pasta. * Tellicherry Chicken & Smoke Gouda Pasta - The garlic cream sauce was delicious! * Quatre Viande (4 meat) Sourdough Pizza - loved the crust! Well besides the cool vibe and location (windows overlooking the harbor steps) and the great, friendly service, the food here is incredible. These cooks (cooks? Chefs.) aren't some sad group of lost souls mindlessly assembling the dishes they've been taught to prepare, while counting the minutes until their next cigarette break. Oh no, my friend. The kitchen staff here clearly have a passion for what they do, because every dish I've eaten here has been stellar. Not just, "Oh this is edible and was served warm. Yeah, its good." No, no, no. This is food that makes your eyes open wide, look at your dining partner(s), and exclaim, "You gotta have a bite of this!" In another review I said that Triangle Spirits is my favorite restaurant in Seattle, but this is a very close second. Their tellicherry peppercorn pasta is delicious, as is their pork confit fries, their patty melt, their burgers, and their (tragically) no longer available meatball sandwich. Literally everything I've eaten here has been beyond tasty. The cocktails are also on point and reasonably priced. No doubt you noticed all the bottles when you walked in? Yes, this place knows alcohol and how to serve it. The Bacon Burger (aka the Prescott) is the best burger I've eaten in Washington. It's insanely good and well prepared. About the only downside I can think of is this place's popularity. I mean, it really doesn't matter what time you come here: there's always going to be a wait. But trust and believe, my friends. Came here for the first time yesterday! Very nice place to come eat while exploring downtown Seattle. I got here around 12pm and it wasn't very busy, crowds picked maybe 30 minutes or an hour after we sat down. The staff were very kind and didn't rush us at all even when business did pick up. I got the pork confit fries, spicy rigs, and pornstar cocktail! Pork confit fries: fries were in a pile topped with cheese sauce, shredded pork, caramelized onions, and peppers! Such a great savory appetizer to start the meal. Really enjoyed the cheese sauce. I don't love hand cut fries as much as a shoe string but this was still very good! Spicy rigs: this does come with prosciutto but I added hot fennel sausage for more protein! It was a creamy tomato sauce and the ricotta mixed in made it even creamier which I love! I am very partial to a red sauce that is creamy so this was perfect for me. It wasn't too heavy or rich which I liked. The sourdough pasta feels heartier than other pasta types I've had which definitely makes this meal filling - pornstar: I loved this cocktail! It comes with a passion fruit foam on top which was a great touch. When they tell you the wait time absolutely do not trust it everytime they've said 45 minutes they've texted me that my table is ready within 15 lol.... (Why do you do this to yourself) The Northwest King Salmon is heavenly and definitely one of the best pastas in Seattle. The sourdough curly pastas have the perfect amount of chewiness and hold the creamy sauce to them EVERYWHERE. I love their fish and chips as well, but my friends have said they feel that it is WAY too salty, which is fair. As a soggy fry enjoyer, I also LOVE their fries they are the perfect sogginess hehe it's hard to explain... If you are unlucky enough to be put in their back room, the acoustics there contribute to a LOUD AMBIENCE like I mean struggling to hear the person across the table from you over other tables talking kind of ambience. I've had their burgers, pasta, pizza, and salad and not one dish has been a miss for me so far. Consistently good flavors and presentation whether they're busy or slow. One thing of note is that most dishes they have are quite rich, so I usually eat it family style as it would be hard for me to finish one thing on my own. Spicy "rigs" was delicious and did have some heat to it! Caesar salad was fresh with a good balance of citrus and salty. I'm not a regular martini drinker, so I can't comment on quality. But one thing is that the Scratch martini is STRONG, and cheap! Champagne mango margarita was on a sweeter side, but not the weird sweet syrup flavor that some alcoholic drinks have. I would get it again. Service has always been responsive and nice. From the hostess who tried their best to get us a table and the server who is quick to respond to any additional requests we had. They have lots of seating ranging from bar, dining indoor and outdoor, we opted for outdoor seating today and it was perfect. I appreciate that they have large canopy umbrellas for shade.
