I was referred to Sandra over a year ago. I really liked her and she does foil highlights and touches up my roots. Mid last year i had to have her redo my hair no problem. I go in monthly or every four weeks or so. My hair grows fast. I went in and she did my hair foil touch up my roots and all over long layer trim. I leave with my hair wet. Natural curly so it goes up in a bun till it dries. The next morning after my appt i noticed my hair looked like it had outgrowth. So i asked her if she could redo it. She told me "this looks good to her". She touched up my front area only and told me she couldn't do the whole thing or i get breakage. I'm done. Not to happy with my haircut. Got it a while back and now have let it grow out before I can get it fixed. When Monica was cutting my hair she used the thinning scissors a little too much on one side, in my opinion. My final look, I looked like a boy and Monica went in with thinning scissors to fix it and make it better. But now one side is shorter and choppy while the other side is long and looks like one length. This sucks because I'm used to parting my hair both ways, and now, I can only do one side. read more

My hair is fantastic. Michelle Mercado was amazing!! I was in need of a haircut because my ends were dead and dry. Pretty damaged. So I decided to cut my hair a lot shorter. Great salon conveniently located in downtown Modesto! Parking is never an issue. The salon is clean and modern without a lot of clutter. All of the stylists are friendly and welcoming. They are quick to offer you beer, wine or coffee. During my visit I noticed how sweet they were with a variety of clients. (Blind, elderly and small children) I really appreciate how Cheryl makes sure she understands what I'm asking for. I've been to others before that say "sure I can do that" and then I end up with something different. I usually show her a picture of what I'd like and she makes sure to ask questions about what I specifically like: the cut, the color, the highlights. She is quick to answer texts. If I could give it zero stars I most certainly would. Based on the Yelp reviews I made an appointment with Christina for today at 9:00. She said she would confirm but I never received a call or text. I took it upon myself to send 2 text messages the day before and followed up with calls to her at the salon and her cell phone still nothing. I had 2 very special events to attend in town this weekend and am so disappointed in this place that they would treat a client in such a manor. I have been with my stylist several years now. She's FABULOUS. Great at color cut and styles. She's always able to fit me in and on time and fair priced. She's fast but pays attention to detail. My review is regarding a girl who does hair at Volume Salon named Michelle. I have had some bad experiences with having my hair done by other people so I wanted to consult with her before making an appointment. I consulted with Michelle 2 weeks before she even touched my hair. I went to the salon so she could see and touch my hair, we could discuss what I wanted, agree on a price, and I also shared with her my previous bad experiences as well as share with her who did my hair in the past. She said she could do my hair the way I wanted and 2 weeks later I was back. When I arrived she recommended a product called Olaplex to protect my hair and I agreed. She charged me $25 more. When it came time to blow dry my hair I noticed that it looked like it was snowing around me. I am not over exaggerating. I asked Michelle what it was I saw flying all around me and she explained "Your ends are dry". After she dried, cut, and styled my hair it was obvious my hair was extremely dry and damaged. She then said, " I'll give you a deep conditioning treatment for free. When can you come in?" I came in the very next day and shared with her that I wasn't happy with the color in my "bang" area. I also said, "but my hair is probably too fried/dry to do anything about it". She replied , "No, dark (or low lights) don't damage your hair. She proceeded to foil dark into 2 or 3 areas in my hair. She SENT ME HOME with foil in my hair and told me to leave them in my hair for 35 minutes and rinse them out at home. When I rinsed them out at home my hair completely came out in my hands!! I was devastated! My hair was not only breaking off it was fried to the root! I texted her and she didn't believe me. Over the next 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) my hair was brittle and breaking excessively. I was out of town so I texted/spoke to her on the phone. I told her the breakage was traumatizing me. She asked for pictures! On Sunday I asked her if she could get me product to help. I was panicking with how much my hair was breaking. She said she would get me some product. 5 DAYS LATER I STILL HADN'T HEARD FROM HER! She eventually did get me shampoo and conditioner but the damage was done. No amount of shampoo or conditioner is going to give life to dead/fried hair. I asked for my $ back but she only agreed to giving me 1/2 of my $ back. I work at Memorial Hospital and MANY of my coworkers noticed the severe damage to my hair. I shared with them my experience and they couldn't believe it. They encouraged me to ask for all of my $ back. I decided to take pictures of all of my broken hairs (since she asked for pictures) and asked for all of my $ back. Michelle became hostile with her respond texts and even accused me of harassing her! ? ! I want everyone who is smart enough to to do a YELP search before choosing a hairdresser to read about my experience. If I were a hairdresser and I did this to another person I would do EVERYTHING in my power to make it right with them. I have never been more offended by someone and feel Michelle treated the whole situation poorly. The most unfortunate part is how long it will take for my hair to be healthy again. DO NOT HAVE MICHELLE DO YOUR HAIR! read more
