Denise Avant: forget the developer then forgets my haircut. I washed my hair the next morning all the color wash out and she said that she was trying a new developer less strong and my fault because I had more gray this time? It was like I never went to salon and not once did she apologize for her error but it my fault because of my stubborn grays. The haircut was who know fault; Something was very off with the whole appointment like she was in her own world looking constantly in the mirror at herself. I am super picky about who cuts my hair. I have long hair and wanted to keep it that way, but it's my birthday so hey this girl needed a makeover !! I am new to Modesto so I used yelp to find the perfect place and this was it! Everyone was super welcoming . It was my 1st time going to the studio salon I was taking care of by the owner Henrietta when I left and got home and looked at my hair I realized my hair was completely burned I called the owner and told her that my hair was breaking off that it was crunchy to the touch completely damaged. and she said my hair was already damaged when I got there that I should just use pure ology shampoo or deep condition it. It would just seem to me that if a hairstylist notice that your hair was damaged are ready that she should have a conversation with you and explain that to you before going on with any type of hair process this way at least you have a choice to make whether you want to go on and continue with the air service or not or maybe she could recommend some type of treatment for your hair to get it back to a healthier state before doing a chemical process on it. At least being given an option or explanation of what's going on with you her seems to make more sense to me than just to take your money do that process and let you leave with your hair ruined. Although Henrietta is a very nice and personable lady herself I will not return back to her salon for any more hair services my hair so damaged are like and do is put it up in a bun and that said I cannot put any hair heat or anything on it. Be very careful about your stylist! Do not EVER see Hariett the owner. I am extremely surprised there are any positive reviews for Hariett. The first time Hariett did my hair, all she talked about was how important and knowledgeable she was, because she had worked in Connecticut, she would complain about the pain in her leg from a recent surgery (for which I am sorry), how she has a big following from a local church, and her interest in men. When I left the salon, I literally had big stripes in my hair, ranging from a level seven stripe to a level 11 stripe. Not a subtle, blended weave, which was my request, and how I looked when I came into the salon. Now, my hair is so dark, that nothing can be done other than to bleach it. My hair has never been darker than a 9. She didn't tell me she was using such a dark color, and she used a "Demi", which fades every time you wash it. Nothing that I wanted, or have ever had. I came back for a color correction, and she refused to do what I asked, which was to improve the "stripes", around my face. She said she would order a different color line, for next time, and put one new foil in my bangs. No improvement to the dark stripes in my hair. I trusted that when I returned for my next appointment, everything would improve. I wanted to give Hariett a second chance. Harriet talks about what she wants to do, and no matter how many times you repeat yourself, or change your examples, she says the same thing. What she likes and what she wants to do. Do not trust this person. She tells everyone how beautiful they are. I would expect a response from Hariett describing how difficult a client I am. I can assure you that prior to seeing her, I had seen the same stylist for 15 years, then, she retired, and, most recently I saw someone for three years. Only tried Harriett after moving here. I have never had an issue with a stylist, nor with communicating with a stylist. I have taught students who are second language learners, for many years. So, Hariett just doesn't get it!! Hariett does only what Hariett wants to do!!! She has no difficulty accepting 20%+ tips, however. Today, Hariett decided I was too hard to work with. I confirmed my appointment and drove 17 miles to get there. She arrived late. I trusted that she had ordered a different color line, but, she hadn't. I don't even think she remembered saying she would do that. She decided that I couldn't explain what I wanted, and that she wasn't going to color my hair. She ruined my hair, took no responsibility, and really couldn't care less. I had to miss important meetings today at a cost to me. Hariett should have never confirmed my appointment (yesterday), and, had me drive 20 miles, if she had no plans of doing my hair. That speaks to her lack of professionalism and interest in building her clientele and reputation. She even said, "reviews don't scare me. I'll just write a response". And, she just plain doesn't care. No matter how good you think Hariett appears, don't take that chance! read more

I highly recommend Marcie at The Studio Salon for both cutting thick hair and changing ashy brown hair to beautiful sandy blonde hair that never looks brassy or fake or anything but awesome. I've been going to Harriet for around 4+ years. She is very creative and aims to get it right. I am one of those "annoyingly picky" persons but she always comes through. My hair has been the healthiest since going to her and I feel like she hears what I want. Im not afraid to let her do her magic when I'm unsure of what I want, she always comes through. Her knowledge of color is amazing. Personally she is a delightful person. I feel Barbara W was very unfair in her review. I booked an appointment 3 days ahead of time for my girlfriend with angel. When she arrived for her appointment they didn't seem to have her down and angel wasn't even there. They didn't seem like they were being professional about it. I didn't appreciate that they couldn't give a courtesy call seeing how they open at 9am and her appointment was at 11am. I decided to try out studio salon cuz my regular stylist wasn't available and I needed a color change immediately since I wasn't happy with the current color. I had been trying to get a beautiful blonde without the brassy color but my previous stylist had been unsuccessful. I was scheduled with Kayla and brought a picture to show exactly what I wanted. My first impression was that she was extremely nice and laid back and She made me feel very comfortable. So she starts coloring my hair and after she was done I freaked out cuz when I saw the new color I thought it was nothing like what I wanted. But she and the owner just kept telling me it will be ok and the color will fade to a really pretty color. They told me to trust them. So even though I gave Kayla a hard time she took it with grace and kept apologizing to me. She said that she would fix it for me if I gave her the chance and told me to come back in a few days and gave me a hug. I left there a very unhappy client. Little did I know they were right all along. My color faded exactly to what I wanted and to the color I was trying to get to for months and Everyone loves it! I did go back a few days later and she put a few more highlights in it and once again it looks great! Now I'm ditching my previous stylist and I will be a regular for Kayla! read more

I actually went here on a whim because my usual stylist was out of town. I have a girlfriend who get's her hair done here and she likes it. Well to be completely honest I was not satisfied, I left unhappy. My hair is not that difficult, simple to be honest. I felt like my stylist had lack of experience...she must have been fairly new or just incompetent. The Studio Salon is cute but nothing like my regular salon which is just gorgeous beyond belief and is very classy and tasteful. My regular salon Jewlez and Company is just divine inside and going else where well, nothing can quite compare.
