Somehow I was able to snag a walk in on a Friday. Excellent location at McHenry village. I had a broken nail that went into the nail bed and was wondering how they would cut it. Instead of cutting it, they were able to repair it with a special glue and painted over it and I got my nail back! The vibe is happy, laid back, and professional. They love dogs so if you have a small dog, bring him along! I got the basic polish manicure with deluxe pedicure. I love the shaping of my nails and the variety of colors. Toenails done perfectly. This nail salon is amazing. I won't go anywhere else for a manicure or pedicure. Jennha is my girl for gel manicures and she is so meticulous in filing and trimming and prepping my nails for polish. She is a perfectionist... double and triple checking her work to make sure it meets her standards. My gel manicure usually lasts me an entire month and the price can't be beat. Plus the hand massage at the end is the BEST!! When I get a pedicure here I usually just do regular polish and my pedicure always lasts several weeks. They just do an amazing job here. And the massage chairs alone are worth the cost of the pedicure! Also, the salon is super clean and when they start your treatment, they pull out new tools all wrapped in plastic. The inside of the salon itself is super nice and modern too. All of the staff there are nice and are always joking with the customers. Makes you feel way more comfortable than I normally feel at other nail salons. read more

Moving is a real pain. You have to find everything you already had - but in another state. This is the third nail salon I've tried. PROS: - Salon is CLEAN - Pedicure chairs look NEW - Massage and other "extras" were nice - Did a GREAT job of removing my last gel manicure (no filing - just wrapped them, and it scraped right off) - Started my fingers while my toes were being done (I know it's supposed to be relaxing, and not rushed, but I don't have 2 and a half hours for a mani/pedi, so I was thankful) CONS: - I understand they can't use a metal foot file here in CA, but for an extra $5 for callous removal, I expect them to do more than what other salons do without the up-charge. - Gel manicure was expensive. $27 for a color, $32 for French. - I had to ask to have my cuticles trimmed, and even when I did, Michael barely cut anything - only the very edges of ones that were already ripped or torn, and only where I showed him. - Nina cut one of my big toenails on an angle, and then dabbed polish on, without ever brushing to smooth it out. Polish doesn't come all the way to my cuticles, so edge is uneven, and there's so much polish on, I don't know if they're ever going to dry. This is the third salon I've tried. I haven't been able to get a gel manicure to last even two weeks. In Texas, they used to last for three, so I don't know what's different out here. If it's been two weeks, and I haven't updated the review, assume that the gel is still on my nails.... read more

I went in today because I saw they do acyclic. When I got there they told me they don't do what I had. That's fine, I just wanted one color. They told me the lady that does fills wasn't in yet but to pick a OPI gel which was odd. Then when the lady came, she sat at her station and I told her I needed a fill and she said with gel. I told her I have acyclic nails, I want them filled with acyclic powder. So she used powder to fill the bottom and then drilled a LOT and then put gel on it, even though I saw a container of full of colored acrylic powders. So confusing. I paid $34 for it. Then around 5 pm. they started to peel off. UGH! What a waste! I only came because my usual nail lady had surgery and was out for awhile. I won't be back. read more

Very clean place. I have yet to have a bad nail job from them. There is one nail tech, VERY sassy-pretty much rude. The entire visit I had with her was her lecturing me about how to take my own nail polish off at home (seriously the entire visit). I mean it's not like she didn't get paid to do her job!! The second time I got her she was rude and telling me how I just can't get my hands in [a comfortable spot] for HER.. once again, she was getting paid to do this.. and I was getting a pedi so it's not like I had a ton of places to move.. Came to salon and was welcomed right away. The young lady who was doing my nails was very sweet. I wasn't able to catch her name but she had a floral tattoo on her left arm. She was great! I've been getting my nails done on a regular basis for the past 20 years or so and am SO happy to have found Magic Nails!! Location and hours are very convenient and I am always accommodated no matter what my needs are. I have brought friends and family to the Salon and have been told they love the care and treatment they received as well. Staff is always smiling, friendly and professional and they are BUSY!! At this price point I do not see how anyone could ask for anything more. The value is great and after going there the last 4 years I have never had a single problem. My mom and I have been to different nail salons in Modesto but this was the first time my mom actually walked out in the middle of a pedicure. The young lady who was working on used nail polish remover but didn't remove all the polish on the nails. Instead, she started using a nail file. WHAT?? It was regular nail polish, not gel. So, the lady continued on with my mom's nails. My mom noticed that the sides of her nails were not being cleaned so she told the tech and when the sides still weren't clean she asked the tech for the pusher and showed it to the tech. When it came to her other foot, the tech handed the pusher to my mom and asked if she wanted to do it. Uhm. That's why we we're here remember? After that statement, my mom told the tech that she was done, and we were charged $20 for a job that wasn't worth that amount. To be fair, the technician who worked on my nails was okay and really took her time massaging my feet, and even asked me if I wanted extra massage time. But I don't know if it was just because she felt bad about what happened. I paid $25 (pedi with salt scrub and massage) compared to $21 in other places. During that time, there were two other ladies who were having a pedi and two older nail technicians were working on their feet. We noticed how these technicians actually did a good job and really took their time (no rushing) in those pedicures. So if you're going to this place, try to see if you can get these technicians to work on your feet. But for this experience, I give them two stars. read more

So after years of shunning this place on principle, my mom was given a very generous gift certificate here (oh the irony!) by a good friend. She invited me along for pedicures and lunch one day, and we went in expecting to be treated poorly as we had in the past. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to receive an excellent pedicure from a very friendly, professional girl who could not be more accomodating. I wish I knew her name, because I'd gladly share it here on Yelp. Magic Nails is still as clean and tidy as ever, and the staff seems to have MUCH better attitudes than before. The best part was that after two weeks, my pedicure was in pretty amazing condition. There was one small chip that was easily touched up (I almost always bring my own colors from home, or I buy a bottle if they sell OPI) and everything still looked glossy and neat. All in all, I will definitely come back to Magic Nails, as they seem to be the best place in town after Mimi's Nails, which is unfortunately all the way across town. read more

I've been going here for quite awhile. I usually get a manicure with my shellac nails. Their shellac nails last for a really long time and are glossy. I like it that Magic Nails uses OPI products, which tend to last very long on my nails. The staff is always very nice. This place has been here for over 20 years! The staff also is very friendly and Song's my favorite worker there. I would recommend this nail salon to anyone who lives in Modesto. It's a top quality place that you rarely ever find. read more

He was professional and gentle, did a great job with no pain during clipping process. The massage portion was enjoyable and he finished with a very good polish job.
