We ordered the grill and hot pot all you can eat combination. This is my recommendation, especially if you're new to this kind of restaurant. I had the spicy hot pot liquid. I was a little worried about the spice level but Ray assured me that he would tone it down for a less spicy level. I'm thankful for his advice and offer to help me have a great experience. The servers don't exactly give you direction on what to do so if you have questions, just ask them otherwise they won't really direct you to what's available for KBBQ versus what's available for hot pot. I personally love the spam and the Gyoza and the shrimp options for the hot pot. My only negative is that if people are sitting at the tables before you, they tend to grab the better vegetables. The grill sucks, you have to grill on wax paper and it's not nonstick, meat burn, paper burn it's gross and doesn't taste good. The meat selection for bbq is wack, some of the meat are in the freezers looks like it's been sitting there for days. The quality of their meats is poor. The hot pot broths is good, the meat and veggie selection was limited.. okay for the price. I love hot pot places that offer tom yum soup and individual hot pot. I like that I can customize it to my liking and not have to question which items were added and when by who. My friend and I came to check this place out. We made in error in when they open and came in while they were still setting up. They were nice to let us sit and gave us water as we waited. Ivy (Ai Vy?) was our server and she was super nice and patient. She spoke to us while we waited and was very friendly and welcoming. We opted just for the hot pot but you can also add the grill for an additional cost. The seafood and meat are self serve on the buffet as well as the sauce bar. They have separate marinared meat for the grill and frozen meats for the hot pot. There was a nice variety of seafood including fish balls along with blue crab and nice big shrimp. The rest of the ingredients, ie veggies, noodles, tofu, were served on the conveyor belt. I like that they come in smaller, individual portions. I also like that they are protectively wrapped in plastic as they come around on the conveyor belt. The tom yum soup was tasty with the sour and spicy notes coming through. As for the meat, it was really meh. The beef quality isn't great and kind of just broke apart when cooked. The pork belly was decent and I ate more of that. I cringed at the frozen chicken and crossed my finger at the possible cross contamination. Perhaps they should have a dedicated pair of tongs for that. We got the Tom Yum and the pork bone soup. Both equally good. The meat for the shabu shabu was good, thinly sliced which is good for dipping. They had pork, lamb and beef. They had good sized shirmp but the scallops were so small , you'd need a magnifying glass. They had clams, mussels and fish tofu etc. We also got the bbq for additional price. The KBBQ meats were disappointing, and was just a bad experience. We only ate the KBBQ once because the meats were not that good and the grill took forever to cook. Yes, it was on the highest setting too. The hot pot was good and seafood were really fresh. We loved watching the conveyor belt goes around while waiting for our favorite veggie topping. I will admit that I forgot to grab shabu meats sometimes because it's so convenient grabbing the veggies rolling by next to you. They have your basic veggies and noodle options on the conveyor (ramen & udon), bok choy, an choy, enoki mushroom, lotus root, cabbage, etc. The shabu freezer have lamb, chicken, beef brisket and pork belly. They have a sauce bar, seafood bar, fruit/dessert bar, fish balls, quail eggs and an ice-cream fridge. It was really more geared towards a shabu experience. My friend really liked their seafood options, especially with the shrimps and blue crabs. She ate like 4 plates of that alone, saying it's fresh. They have a limit of 2 hours, but the server said they don't really check it. We didn't sit down until 7:30 PM so it was already closing time by the time we finished. Service was good and workers were fast at refilling the broth. I only had to remind them once. I like the fresh fruit bar, especially with sliced watermelon in the hot summer heat. I wish there were other cuts of beef available like other hot pot places. The seafood was the basic shrimp, blue crab, mussels, clams and some squid. Nothing too spectacular. If you like seafood then it is an okay variety to mix things up a bit in your individual pot. Service was okay as the staff was pretty friendly. The ambience was pretty relaxed and everyone eating there was pretty lax as well. Dessert- I think the ice cream cups were a nice touch. Good old fashioned scoop of ice cream prepackaged in a cardboard cup screams nostalgia and elementary school days, which I pleasantly enjoyed.
