This place is solid for bubble tea. The tea runs a bit sweet and you have to make it 100% clear that you do not want it sweet if you want it to be just a little sweet. It's a recurring theme I've noticed in which small Asian cafes serve Lactaid but do not know what it is. They promoted the "moo milk" on the board outside the shop, which I wanted because it advertised the use of lactaid. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I truly appreciate any place that uses lactaid or plant-based dairy substitutes. When I asked if they used lactaid in all of their products, the server had no idea what I was talking about. I just ordered the "yellow moo milk," which in retrospect sounds revolting. It was boba and pudding and, to my dismay, an entire cup of Lactaid. I had asked when ordering what was in the different types of moo milk. She had said "red milk" which I now realized was what she called lactaid (because it has a red carton) along with the different toppings. I definitely think all employees should know the ingredients in the products and should be able to answer questions regarding allergens/gastrointestinal issues. Me paying 4.25 for a cup of lactaid could have been avoided. I also had the fried yams. They were like flavorless sweet potato fries. I wasn't a fan, but for only $3.50, I guess I can't complain. I really appreciate that they take card for everything. They also don't tax which is surprising. Small spot with not a lot of seating. This review is on their Takoyaki only. Their bubble tea is 3.5-4 stars (good). Takoyaki was not freshly made and was crispy, instead of gooey. It tasted like they just fried it after it had been sitting around for at least a day. They were really small as well. I bought the popcorn chicken here, and it is pretty good if you like eating crispy chicken that you can chew. It's not dried out like the other places around the area, plus the portion and size is on the bigger side :) There should be a bit more pepper added so it is more flavorful but still good! Other than that, I give it 4 stars, because it took over 10 minutes to wait for only one order. If there was a 3 1/2 star I would of given that instead. read more

The pink storefront and crowned skull motif were so cute, I convinced bae to accompany me a few days later for his first bubble tea experience! Despite the elegant and feminine booths lining the right side of the store, it still maintains a fun and casual café atmosphere. Standard tea menu - though their drinks are shaken by machine instead of by hand, and they have these cool animated screens behind the counter. Atmosphere: The boba shop is pretty small, there are a couple of booths on the left hand side, but there isn't much seating room to be honest. If you manage to snag a seat, there is free wifi. Service: Employees were very friendly and helpful when asking for recommendations. I visited on the first few days after the grand opening, so the service was kind of slow and the line situation was a bit disoriented since there were people everywhere. Boba: Tapioca bubbles were chewy, not necessary sweet and pretty bland. Tiramisu - The tiramisu milk tea was not bad, it was sweet, but tasted a lot more like sweetened coffee than tiramisu. 3Q - A mix of boba, herbal jelly and pudding. The 3Q milk tasted like a regular black milk tea sweetened. It's the best drink item on the menu based on our selections. It's similar to Coco's 3 guys drink. Red moo - A mix of red beans and boba. The moo drinks are made out of lactaid milk. My bf tried this one and the yellow moo and preferred this one since it was different. Yellow moo - A mix of pudding and boba. VIVI Tea has been my fave since there was one down the street from where I worked in Chelsea. I don't think there were any in Queens before this but I walked past the other day before it was open and I almost cried, I was so happy to have a Vivi tea just a few steps from my house! Recently opened and replaced the old Ten Ren tea that was here for years. Have to say this was an incredible use of space! Absolutely adorable, well lit and plenty of booths and seats. A bit packed but I'm sure it's because of the grand opening specials (buy one get one free). I went here today for their taro milk tea with pudding, macaroon and tried their pop chicken due to curiousity. The drink and foods were okay. BUT, what I don't like is their CUSTOMER SERVICE. I asked the cashier if they did have an available seat and she immediately said, "No." Only to find out, another 2 customers came and that's the only time the guy stood up from the customer's seat not knowing that's an EMPLOYEE and the two customers took over the seat. Although refreshing, One of the worst Taro Bubble Teas I've ever had. Bubbles are soaked in liquid, taking away from Taro flavor of Tea. Not sweet at all... I was excited to visit Vivi's for the first time because it looks so cute! The storefront and decor is adorable, but the tea was underwhelming. We ended up getting the Thai milk tea and Taro milk tea both of which were warm, and not properly mixed. There was syrup dripping down the sides and stuck to the bottom. "Could you help me chek my chicken" I think you pass my order I show him my ticket and he got shock and asking the cashier and another guy too. He never got the ticket before. Now I am getting an angry because I ask the women who work in the cashier position before to looking my order but she said they will serve you after the food ready. After visiting Lao Bei across the street we stopped here for some bubble tea. Or in my case bubble tea with no bubbles lol. The is a cute very bright spot. The apparently have food too, like appetizers and some desert snacks. But they are known for their drinks. Their menu has variety from slushies, milk teas, iced teas and hot drinks as well. Everything looks really good and it'll be hard to make up your mind. They have this cool machine which shakes the drinks so you don't end up with an un-mixed drink. I went here on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. That day they had a free up size special. I got the 3Q tea which I was told had black milk tea, pudding, tapioca and grass jelly. I asked for extra sugar(because I have a major sweet tooth). The cashier told me it comes sweet on its own unless I want it sweeter. Judging by her facial expression getting more sugar was bizarre so I said okay and decided to try it just the way they make it. It was $3.50, which I thought was a steal. The down side was that I waited over 5 minutes for my drink, which seemed to be everyone else's wait time also. The drink was delicious. I will add more sugar to suit my preference next time, but I still enjoyed it. The tea was a bit floral which was really nice and refreshing, yet creamy and satisfying, but definitely not like black milk tea. I was extremely bummed when ten ren left this location. I like that this vivi allows you to customize the level of sugar in the drinks, not all of their locations have that option. Well, the staff recommended that's it was her favorite. So I ordered it. It's exactly as it is. Tastes bland. Waste of money. Vivid is not like Quickly which blends the red bean and ice and milk together for a nice smoothie consistency. Nope.
