This tea shop has been a staple in Flushing for as long as I can remember. If you're looking for a particular type of Chinese tea, there are a few places that can compete with them in variety. Prices are reasonable to me, though I am no expert. The bubble tea portion of the shop is not my favorite. There are plenty of better options around the neighborhood. I don't come here for the bubble tea anyway, so not a big deal. read more

I can't here as a teen when there was no one else making bubble tea. I loved the taro slush with tapioca. Took my daughter here, going down memory lane. The place was empty and the person who took our order looked annoyed. Heads up, they are cash only. My daughter likes the taro slush with tapioca. With so many options in the area now, I doubt I'll be back here for bubble tea. read more

Ten Ren Tea & Ginseng - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Flushing, New York

Ten ren is an og bubble tea store and for many this was the only bubble tea store we knew of as kids. It still has all the classics and to me no other bubble tea will ever compare with their fancy gimmicks of gold flakes or burnt tops. If you like bubble tea for what it is which is milk tea with boba you'll love this place. They also sell Chinese medicinal herbs and overall this shop is known for using real tea for their bubble tea. (With the exception of taro or honeydew) The staff is mainly Cantonese so I say it's best to stick to whatever you see on the menu. My favorites are Royal milk tea if you're looking for a milk tea similar to Hong Kong milk tea which is strong and bitter but also very sweet. Or the classic black milk tea both are delicious and you can never go wrong with them. read more

Ten Ren Tea & Ginseng - Green tea milk tea (half sugar) with boba - super yummy - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Flushing, New York

I came here with high expectations because I thought I heard good things about this spot but it was nothing but mediocre for me. I will say that the barista there was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the "Lychee Green Tea" and the "Taro Milk Tea." The lychee green tea, was nothing but 2 tiny scoops of lychee syrup with the green tea..somehow I couldn't taste the lychee at all. The taro milk tea was very chalky and seemed like it was made with cheap taro powder. Pricing is not bad though, if you are on a budget and want a quick fix. Also, keep in mind - this spot is cash only. read more

Ten Ren Tea & Ginseng - Taro boba milk tea slush - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Flushing, New York

As one of the first Taiwanese based chains to make it to Flushing, I can't help but appreciate the longevity of Ten Ren. The fact they serve bubble tea and offer imported tea + ginseng makes their concept is as unique as their ultra impressive setup. Is there a cleaner tea-based shop in the neighborhood? The place is spotless. The herbal aroma in the air is refreshing and I really appreciate how organized the store is. Their various boxed teas would make an excellent gift for any tea lover and their selection is quite extensive. This is primarily a in-and-out type of a place, but there is a small table in the back for a small group to sit down and sip. As for the cold drinks, they're good. I will freely admit that I prefer other sugary boba spots than here, but despite how limited their menu is, I'm fairly certain some tea savvy folks would prefer Ten Ren over others. I sometimes like ordering their mega 24 oz cup on a hot summer day to cool off. I'm a pretty big fan of their kumquat + lemon, as well as their strawberry green tea with some mint. Incredibly refreshing. It's hard not to appreciate their service from both the boba counter and the tea-associates. Both sides have been friendly, polite, and incredibly helpful when I'm looking for a recommendation or a fresh oolong leaves to give to my elder family members. Ten Ren gets a 10 from me, but in this review, they get 5 (stars). read more

It's about $5 for a small, which is pretty good for New York. The inside is very clean and it's half of a herb store that sells ginseng, hence a nice smell when entering. The tea counter is on the left and you can order and then go down to pay. I got the black milk tea. Since it was a tea shop, I was expecting it to have a strong tea flavor but I only really taste powder milk, which is disappointing. The boba itself is soft, albeit a little flavorless. Also no bathroom read more

One of the best and original Taiwanese bubble tea spots in Flushing. This place has been running for over 10 years already and continues to make good, well priced bubble teas in New York City. This location in particular makes great tea and has great products. The staff are great and quick. There's no exact line when ordering so it can get a little frustrating. Lots of flavors for different palettes. I highly recommend their strawberry green tea with tapioca. There are real bits in the drink! Very refreshing. My other fruit tea go-to's are mango and peach green tea on a summer day. The milk teas are flavorful as well. Cash only. Stamp cards available for regulars. No bathroom. Loose leaf teas and tea tastings on the right side and back of the shop. Drink up! read more

I've been to this place once or twice several yrs ago. Haven't been back since. I finally went again last week & got the green apple black tea which oddly had a bitter aftertaste. I said no sugar but it still shouldn't have been bitter. I suspect that they gave me green apple green tea instead which explains why it was bitter. I hate bitter drinks. Other than that, the tea was sweet at 1st & it was good. I remember liking their tea before tho. read more

Love this place! It's the first place that started serving bubble tea in Flushing, since the 90's! I love their basic black or green milk tea. It doesn't taste artificial or extremely sweet. The tapioca are chewy and tasty! There's an extremely great variety of drinks, both. hot and cold! They also sell Tea Ren tea, and ginseng in beautifully displayed boxes (great gift! The only complaint I have is that the plastic lid they serve the tea in is extremely large and bubble like (think like a lid served with 7-11 slurpees). The lid seems like a inefficient use of lid/plastic. read more

Summary: Ordered their large original bubble tea for $5. Great tea taste and the lady didn't skimp on the bubbles! Worth it compared to its bubble competitors! Would definitely come back to try their other bubble tea flavors. They're a tea and herbal shop so they know their teas! Like I said, I would recommend bubble tea at this place! Reasonable prices for great taste and great tea quality! They also offer other herbal tea flavors as well as slushies. Looking forward to coming again! read more

There were 3 girls in here. An 8, a 9 and a 10. I tried asking all three out. The 8 said no, the 9 stood frozen on the spot, staring in disgust. And the Ten Ran. There are a lot of people who are really obsessed with Ten Ren tea and I'm not really sure why because I don't really think it's that great. Service was nice but I just didn't really like the products very much. They didn't really do it for me. Plus the guy did not give me my change back, so even though the lady was nice, the guy maybe not so much. It was only a dollar or so, but still. read more

Really refreshing and large sized teas at an affordable price. The place is cash only just FYI but there's an atm across the street & a few bank branches within the block. The tea section is on the left when you walk in & the rest of the store is a herbal shop. read more

I am a HUGE bubble tea fan, so I absolutely need to get one every time I come to Flushing. Yes I know this place also sells other stuff like teas and ginseng, but I only came here for the bubble tea. You might think all bubble tea should taste the same, but the real trick is on the cooking the tapioca. If it's not cooked right, they will taste hard and chewy. This place seems to have the cooking on the tapioca down. Mine was soft and delicious. The bubble teas come in different flavors. I like things simple so I had the traditional milk green tea. But you can also order other tea flavors like Oolong and Thai Tea. You can also order different flavors like in mango and passion fruit. The only think I didn't like their bubble tea is that they don't have the sealed lid for your cup, and you can easily spill your tea out of their cups. Almost all the other bubble tea places all serve your team in seal cups so you can even take it to go. And the price was not the most competitive price in Flushing. There must be over a dozen places that offers bubble team and you can definitely get them cheaper some place else. read more

Small Bubble Tea $2.50 OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG, I ordered the Green Tea bubble tea and was ready to die! I was so happy:-) This is legit brewed green tea that is strong, not just some syrup from a bottle. There are also an insane number of tapioca balls that are just the right size and don't get stuck in the straw. My only regret is that I only got the small :-( The store as you walk in has the drink station on the left, and the tea/ginseng store on the right. At the rear of the shop there is a low table, presumably should you want some tea served ceremoniously by virgins. read more

With the influx of bubble tea shops in Flushing over the years, I'm glad this place is still around. It's remains to be the same kind of bubble tea shop I used to go to in high school. Because of that, they didn't ask for my sugar or ice level preference and so my drink ended up being too sweet for me at first. But personally I kind of prefer it to be too sweet than not sweet enough since I could just wait for the ice to melt and it'll be perfect, which is pretty easy on a hot day. Plus it would prevent me from inhaling my drink as soon as I got it. I got a medium mango green without toppings for $5, which is such a bargain. The mango syrup they used was really good, it was refreshing and didn't taste artificial at all. The tea flavor was also really good, the green tea flavor was strong and the slightly bitter notes at the end paired really well with the sweetness of the mango. I don't know why I was surprised by how good the tea was considering I'm a huge fan of their jasmine tea. I buy them all the time at the supermarkets. And for that price, you can't go wrong. It's so rare to find bubble tea for that cheap and it still be that good these days. read more

This bubble tea has been around for the longest time, before any of the other bubble tea shops existed. This place has been consistently good. They also sell herbs such as ginseng, you know for a fact that the tea that they're making is of good quality. The shop has some space for you to sip your tea and hangout with friends. I would suggest the green milk tea. I personally don't like tapioca, and if you don't too, I suggest getting grass jelly as a substitute. I only wished that as all the other bubble tea shops spawned up so quickly, Ten Ren should have also expanded their shops or at least expanded their store front to accommodate and attract more customers. The most important part is that Ten Ren is still around even though there is more competition than ever before. They are definitely doing something right. The quality was and is still there. read more

I've always been a fan of Ten Ren Tea, all over the country. I've always found that their milk tea drinks are the perfect amount of sweetness and tea taste. As is the case with every Ten Ren I've been to, the prices are lower than other boba shops outside. Unfortunately, this Ten Ren falls short for me. I've found that the drinks are a bit too sweet, and there is a noticeable lack of tea flavour. I've given Ten Ren two or three chances now, and they've been slightly disappointing every time. I don't think I'll be going back for the boba drinks. read more

Not sure what happened. Maybe it was just nostalgia that brought me here, but the quality has really gone down. This is my first time throwing out bubble tea only after a few sips... I love the bubble drinks here. They have the best tapioca bubbles in town. The service is very good and they always keep the place neat and clean. Only problem is that some of the employees they hire barely speak English. If you don't speak Chinese you might have a hard time communicating with them. My favorite drink here is the Ten Ren green tea with tapioca bubbles. I always get it with condense milk. It's the best green tea you can find around this area. I also like the red bean drinks here. Ten Ren is your place to go for just teas or for your boba. You get the authentic real tea taste rather than the powder murky taste. A Flushing staple Among the ever new trendy Asian bubble tea shops that keeps opening up in flushing and nyc- the commercialization and saturation of the get rich quick bubble tea shops cheapens the delicious art and flavors of bubble tea. There will always be one bubble tea shop that will forever stand the test of time- one of the first bubble tea shops in flushing and long after the bubble tea movement passes- will likely still stand supreme: ten ren ginseng- A Flushing staple. Ambiance: Located between the 7 train station and sky mall- sits a very quaint ginseng shop in front of a very busy bus stop. Inside you experience a throwback of what appears to be traditional china- dried tea leaves housed in tin large tin containers and even tea ceremony furniture- they sell a whole host of different ginseng roots and tea variety- give them a gander while you are here! Drinks: then to the left of the store sits the bubble tea baristas- using their in house branded tea products to make their bubble tea adds a sense of tea sincerity vs commercialized shops that uses canned/pre packaged/powdered products. The classic milk tea can be ordered with black or green tea! Their in house green and black teas are Fragrant and naturally satisfying- there's a lovely sweet aftertaste. Beware- there are amounts of caffeine and will keep you awake if you drink too much! No jitters though! ***The star that makes this location explicitly stand out from all the other shops is their tapioca! I am no tapioca maker and unfamiliar with the intricate processes of tapioca artistry but I know what good tapioca taste like. I grew up drinking milk tea from Ten Ren- spoiled on their tapioca products, so when I later branched out to other locations, were stricken with unpleasant and despair. Texture and flavor are keys here. Good tapioca should be tender and extremely soft- I can almost break apart the tapioca ball with my tongue. It is NEVER hard, dense, powdery. The flavors should always be a hint or slight sweetness- never to overpower the actual milk tea. All of which are present at Ten Ren. If you are new to Flushing and don't know where to start to try out its myriad of vendors- check out Ten Ren! It is bubble tea goodness. Bathroom- no Parking- don't even think about it unless you are planning on spending many hours in flushing- if so try skymall. Cleanliness- VERY Love it or dump it Extremely love it- god willing I will be coming to this place until the day I die. Will return- highly recommended read more

Ten Ren Tea & Ginseng - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Flushing, New York

You have no idea how badly I am addicted to bubble tea. Ten Ren is one of the original faves and still is and they still honor their stamp cards between all the branches, YAS. It was just last year that they increased their prices, but it's still so affordable. I used to get a regular for $2.50 and a large for $4, sometimes I would do two smalls of different flavors and trust me, I can finish it all. Ten Ren used to just have the simple bubbles and jelly, no additional cost which I love. They have increased their menu since to keep up with competition, but honestly, they have one of the best and consistent bubbles across their chains. Can't get enough of this place. Recommend flavors - strawberry (super sweet), green apple (a little tart), green apple smoothie (perfect summer blend) and thai iced tea (they use real tea leaves so they may run out at some point when there is no more tea for the day) read more

I love Ten Ren ! They have really great flavors all of which are crafted really well and don't end up tasting really artificial. I've tried several of their teas and really recommend the regular black tea, jasmine, and taro. Definitely those three are the highlights at Ten Ren. The last time I went I went for the original black tea and even though I asked for not that much boba I got way too much in my small cup which just meant a lot less tea than I was hoping. Either way the tea was really good as always. A definite must if you're in the area and especially if you're going to go for some dim sum or just returned from having some. read more

Was by Ten Ren at the right time: when I was craving some bubble tea! Nice quality tea store in Flushing that makes pretty good Bubble Tea drinks. Came here and got myself a 12oz. Okinawa Milk Green Tea that was freshly made right before my eyes. Before the employee puts on the bubble tea cap, make sure you slurp the foam!!! The foam is always the best part of any drink. At first sip, the drink tasted like Green Tea Candy. When I stirred my drink a bit more, I could taste the Okinawa milk flavor(like caramel). Boba was not too hard nor chewy--just right! The vibe of the tea shop is very calming and relaxing, which made me savor my drink even more. The quality is just about on par with that of The Boba Guys, but Ten Ren offers more exotic varieties and options. Although prices are sort of expensive and drinks are smaller in size compared to other bubble tea stores around the area, but it is as other yelpers have remarked: "Quality over quantity." I believe that the true essence of the bubble teas here come out when it's hot. The cold bubble teas aren't bad, but the hot ones will taste less watered down and will have a richer tea taste. Recommendations: 1. Mango Milk Tea Icey Slush 2. Black Sugar Milk Tea Icey Slush 3. Strawberry Slush 4. Okinawa Milk Green Tea The drink I had at Ten Ren truly exemplifies the aphorism my father once told me: "One truly finds contentment in tea not by merely drinking it, but also by savoring it." This is attributed to the combination of higher prices and smaller volume, which encouraged me to not drink as fast as I normally would. read more

This review is actually for the tea shop, not the bubble tea. Ten Ren operates under Ten Fu, and very prestigious tea brand in China and Taiwan. They even have a private college that studies the tea industry! This is hardcore gourmet tea! If you wander past the bubble tea section and into the loose tea area, you have taken a small step to being a connoisseur. Their collection ranges from normal priced tea bags to loose tea behind the counter, and even gift tea sets for friends. A sales clerk immediately spot me when I was browsing and asked if I needed help. I was looking for Puerh tea, not too cheap but not too expensive. I definitely wasn't going for the tea bag variety or the $35 cake set. I've got accustomed to individually wrapped Puerh and was wondering if they carried anything affordable. She happened to have a small bag (it was labeled Tuo) for only $11. I bought a cute tea canister there as well. Oh, and in case you're wondering about the tea: I went back home to brew it. Delicious. read more
