As one of the many ViVi bubble teas in the borough, this one has been one of my most frequented spots along Broadway. They've been a decent choice for a quick drink and a little WiFi. Most anyone who has had ViVi will know it's not life changing boba but still a solid option for folks feening for a drink (#1) in the heart of Elmhurst's growing satellite Chinatown. Most boba places aren't spacious and this shop is no exception. Save for a few small tables and some booths, it can feel crowded when more than 3 folks are lining up at the counter. Prices are pretty standard at roughly $5.50-6 for most drinks and the staff is usually fairly quick about getting drinks out. One thing I've always appreciated is that they have a solid seasonal variety of specials out. Whether it's their fruit tea / lemon based series or their pre-pandemic deal of $4 for two medium regular milk teas, there's definitely no shortage of variety. Their taro crème brülee is probably one of their better selections and the blue galaxy is fairly refreshing, especially during hot weather days. I'm also down with their peach oolong cold brew and kumquat lemon jelly tea. Most of the standard flavors (thai tea, taro milk teas, etc.) fall a little flat, which is why I'm guessing folks aren't singing their praises as much. They also serve food here, which is simple and fairly common. Ambience: on the outside, the store looks like it had been a cute boutique bubble tea shop in the past with cute cartoonish logos and signage, however, today, it is boarded up and serving drinks TO GO only through its door. It's a cute little stop and sip date spot for teenagers. The whole place is very pink and girlie. I haven't found my go to drink options here yet, but a lot of the drinks looks interesting and pretty in pictures. Sadly, I've had to stick to the safe side of ordering very plain drinks here so I don't leave unhappy. I've tried them a few times, even their Manhattan locations. So this is my only complaint. I like this place more than others because not only do you get a student discount but i find that other places are more bland or have a weird aftertaste. Favorite has to be the popcorn chicken (garlic flavor is pretty bomb) but I think they make these in batches (so you'll be getting freshly fried food) so there is about a 15-20 minute wait time whenever you order. Milk teas are pretty solid. Bubbles are pretty good most of the time too. Specialty drinks (like their newest flaming brown sugar milk) varies in consistency depending on the time of day you go there. I decided to try it out Wednesday evening and it got me hooked (more so than Tiger Sugar tbh). The milk foam to milk to brown sugar to bubbles ratio was on point. Got the same drink again two days later but in the morning...and it's like I'm just drinking milk. Even the color of the drink is just pure white... They have a free stuff animal promotion that requires purchase of $35, which is not sensible at bubble tea place middle of winter. I've enjoyed 3Q from Vivi at a time in my life and I'm certain that I still carry the 5lbs that I gained from it somewhere here (points to thighs). Anyway, I was craving for some Bubble Tea and Vivi was conveniently on the way to Queens Blvd, so why not? The door is covered with plastic drape and there's enough space to make a payment and get your order. It's $15 minimum for credit card. The phone number is displayed and you have to call in your order. I got the Brown Sugar and Coffee Jelly Bubble Teas. The Jelly had zero coffee taste and it's quite chewy. I appreciate that the milk tea itself is not too sweet with the "less sugar" option. Next time, I will try other options when I'm in the mood for boba. read more

They also have comfortable booth seats, although the air conditioning was lacking. Drinks - I ordered the 3Q Milk tea and it hit the spot. So basically it's their version of milk tea with 3 different type of add ons which include - tapioca balls (bubbles/black balls/whatever you call it), pudding & grass jelly. The tapioca was soft, has a good taste and just the right amount of chew. The other 2 holds its own all the time. The milk tea with everything did not come off as too sweet to me, which was what I was afraid of. So you can feel safe ordering it as is ! This is probably one of the cutest Vivi locations in terms of decor. They have somewhat comfy booths and two smaller tables near the entrance. They also have wifi so you can do some work here, but it does get loud and hectic because the line to put in your order is right next to the booths (so don't plan on being able to focus when the place is packed). Drinks are standard and don't differ from other Vivi locations. Favorites are the matcha and passion fruit flavored teas. Grapefruit pulp is also good if you want to feel like you're drinking something healthy. Good place to chill after a meal to catch up with friends. read more

Passion Fruit green tea with aloe jelly and tapioca. This is a good drink if you are into toppings. Kumquat Lemon. Too cold for bubble tea? Grab this in the hot version. Great citrus drink when the weather is getting cooler and when I'm out on a neighborhood stroll. Vivi's Elmhurst is super cute and bright just like other locations. Menus has expanded from one section to multiple section from drinks to snacks. Now it is the trend of the bubble tea shop. Vivi brand is one of the example in which it has expanded and became franchise throughout New York City. While it became one of the biggest bubble tea franchise, their quality of their drinks varies from store to store causing disappointment to their customers in all ways. At the end of the day, their customers would not try a Vivi store unless they knew them. That variation has costed their reputation where customers would rather go to another bubble tea shop than the closest Vivi store. This Vivi store is incomparable to original or the first store at Bayard Street, Chinatown. From my other reviews on bubble tea, the most important aspect is the tea and the sweetness level. Both has failed my taste bud. Tea was water down close to none existent and instead of 30% sugar, it is tasted like 100% sugar. Where is the tea and what is the points of asking customers for sweetness level? Their salt and pepper fried chicken was cover in oils and tasted unpleasant just like their drink. Is this really what the company is becoming? Vivi really to need to get things together in all ways regarding how each franchise preform. I have been to other Vivi Bubble Tea in the city and this location is one of the better ones. The décor of the place is in line with the pink, but what differentiates this place to the others -- is that there is proper seating. There is about 4-5 booth seats and other 3 small tables in the front. Wifi works well (use at your own risk as always with public wifi). With that said, these seats are generally taken and people do stay a while. The bubble tea here is great! My go to milk tea with the jelly is always made consistently good...Though it is pricey at times, they do run promotions where you can get BOGO. I also give the staff here 5 stars. They are really nice and quick. I know how Asian people can get... (i.e. rude at times) but in my observation -- they handle them well. Quick, stern and attentive! It's reliably delicious, fun textures with the boba pearls, pudding, and grass jelly, and not too sweet. Usually drinks come quickly and there isn't a long wait to order or to get your drinks. Every few months, they run a BOGO offer on the 3Q, which is awesome. They also use lactose-free milk which, as a lactose-intolerant Asian, I totally appreciate. First time at Vivi Bubble Tea after hearing about it for a while now. I'm glad I found a location near me in Elmhurst. I ended up getting my drink and having it with pho from Pho Bac a couple blocks down. I went with the grapefruit ice jelly drink. I read multiple reviews that said it was too sweet, so I asked for "just a little bit sweet, like maybe 10%". He rang it up as 30%, so I don't know how much was used, but I was happy with the sweetness. It was just a hint of sweetness. The drank itself was pretty good. The flavors of the grapefruit and the tea balance each other well. It essentially tastes like an Arnold palmer where the iced tea complements the lemonade (in this case grapefruit-ade) and tones down tartness and sweetness. The grapefruit jelly at the bottom was a nice texture. There was plenty of grapefruit pulp as promised. I was asked if I wanted bubbles (boba - sorry, I'm from the West coast and can't get myself to call it bubbles) in the drink and I said yes, but after I walked out with the drink, I realized there was no boba in it. The sticker on the side that listed my order didn't list boba. So I decided not to bother the person so close to their closing time to have to remake a drink. I assume I was not charged for it. The boba would have made this drink perfect. Although, thinking back, if I was to get boba, I would probably get the drink unsweetened as there will be sugar syrup added with the boba itself.
