Stopped by on a whim on a Sunday night to fulfill my bubble tea craving. I'm a big bubble tea fan but this was my first Vivi experience. It was extremely busy with the booths occupied by a young crowd and a long line at the cashier. This was certainly the longest wait I've ever had for bubble tea with a wait time over 10minutes for one drink ... and that was after placing my drink order (add on another 5minutes or so for the line). To be honest, though, the woman in front of me ordered something like 10 drinks! *facepalm* The drink on the other hand was pretty good and flavorful. I had the Taro Moo Milk as I wanted to try something different and was pleased with my drink. For those of you who aren't familiar with this drink, it comes with bubbles and taro ... and it was delicious! Another thing to note is that Vivi is probably one of the few bubble tea joints that actually caters to those that may be lactose-intolerant. The Moo series drinks are made with lactaid milk (regular milk without the lactose) and tastes just as great as your regular bubble tea. Would I come back? Vivi is able to stand out in Elmhurst, the motherland of bubble-tea shops, because of it's store front and decor. This shop has an awesome store front that is able to fully open for days of great weather and close during rain/ sleet/ snow. Vivi has the usual bubble tea mix and drinks, nothing extremely out of the ordinary. I like their Red Bean Matcha and Passion Fruit Teas. You can customize the amount of sugar and ice for your drinks to meet your taste. I tried their Takoyaki (Octopus) Balls and they were good to try at least once. Their Matcha Garden Waffles is a great food option and it comes with a topping of Green tea Ice Cream, Red Beans and several Green Tea Pocky Sticks. My recent discovery and favorite is their Green Tea Ice Cream. This is a great hangout spot for these hot summer days. read more

Went to this shop around 7pm and tried to order their ongoing BOGO anniversary promo, however, the high school kid behind the counter told us that it is sold out. I don't understand the concept of "sold out" that he is referring to. If you are no longer honoring the anniversary BOGO promo, then maybe you should remove the poster, as your poster is bait and switch tactic. Better go to another shop next time as to avoid the embarrassment asking them about the BOGO. 3.5 Yet another bubble tea spot in the neighborhood, but I'm not complaining ... I love bubble tea! The super pink store that stands out from its surroundings, with cute skully logos which drew me in. We went in and it was super busy, the seating was pretty much all occupied. The area to the cash register was a little confusing. There were a lot of people standing by the counter and we thought they were waiting in line. It was also a little narrow as we were standing there ordering; it felt like we were semi hovering over those who were sitting in the booth seating nearby. The staff had limited English, but was friendly and very welcoming. For one bubble tea that we got to share (Bubble Milk Black Tea $3) the wait was significantly long, but again they're a new establishment. I liked the grapefruit green tea with lychee (half sugar half ice), but they seem to have a really really bad fruit fly problem.. So I'm not sure I'd get it again here. It also has a slightly gritty aftertaste. My friend didn't think the regular oolong milk tea (half sugar, no ice) was good at all. There were at least 6 flies flying around my friend and I. For a bubble tea store the quality is exceptional. You get what you are expected, but Vivi's presentation is what grabs your attention. From the diamond doorknobs to the 4 seater booths (it can fit more than 4 people) is something I've never seen in Elmhurst. It's a great place to visit with your friends and converse with each other. I was sad that they were sold out of Sakura bubble. I got the blue galaxy drink and it wasn't good as I thought it would be. To let you know, butterfly pea doesn't have flavor, so it tastes mostly like lime (or was it lemon) and ice. The ice was small chunks then regular one you get. Still, I ordered from them those times just to try out their drinks. Unsweetened Iced Green Tea: Tastes like green tea, but my husband didn't like it because it was too astringent. Iced Milk Tea: Tastes like any other milk tea. Iced Lemon Yakult: I liked this a lot, but they only sold it in Large size which I couldn't finish. If not for the novelty, I'd say skip it and go to Fay Da. Vivi is not bad-- average-- but I feel like there is just something that's missing that puts it from average to great. So I went to this location today it was very nice I have to say. The decor and sofa seats its very usual I have to say they have a great deal now buy one get one free with pudding, tapoica, and grass jelly. I'm not a fan of all those topping together I'm quite simple all I got was a jasmine milk tea with grass jelly and no sugar. This review is a little overdue since it's been a while since I first came to this Vivi's location, but nonetheless I wanted to say that I absolutely love this Vivi's. I'm in the Elmhurst area quite often and when I first passed by this shop on the outside, I was shocked by how princessy and pink this location was. It's different from all the other surrounding stores. I've been to Vivi's in other locations, most noteable one is the one in LES with the cotton candy, and unfortunately this Vivi's does not provide the same service. However, this Vivi does have some perks of their own! First, the comfy and spacious booth seating! They let you sit here and talk with your friends for hours without bothering you. It's a little inconvenient for them since this means less seating for the store overall, but great for you! Second, the drinks here are refreshing and the bubbles have always been fresh during the few times that I've tried it but the snacks here are definitely my favorite! The spicy crispy chicken at the nearby Quickly's have always been my favorite and my go-to but lately, they seem to either not serve it anymore or always run out and Vivi's has become my new alternative place to get crispy chicken! They also have a larger variety of flavors: curry, salt and pepper, basil, spicy, etc (5 flavours but I forgot what they all are) but my favorite one remains the spicy one. On the downside, you could be waiting around 5 minutes for your crispy chicken. On a side note, they also give student discounts (with valid student ID) for their drinks but the discount does not apply for the snacks. They also accept credit card with NO minimum. read more

It was supposed to be my day but Vivi ruined it. My friends and I came to ViVi today at 9.29 pm. Three of us wanted to order drinks but the young man kept saying "Sold out" We realized it nearly closed time, so we asked them if they're closing. He replied 'Yes' At the same time we walked out, there was a girl coming in to order the drink and she could get it. We were stunned. How come??? We were extremely upset. My friend went to the store again to ask how could that girl get the drink but we couldn't. He answered us that she ordered on the phone. So? He had to press her order on tablet as same as walk in customers. Later we went to Quickly that nearby them and stayed there for 10-15 mins. We walked pass Vivi again. Can you guess what I saw. There were customers sit on couches "Full House" OMG Is this racist? Because we don't speak their language? Only Chinese speaker get drinks but other can't. Love the standard milk bubble tea. Every now and then they have the BOGO deal on 3Q milk tea, which is a good deal and delicious. It's not overly sweet, it is just right. I honestly am not good when asked what % of sweet I prefer as they differ from place to place, either end up too bland or too sweet. Their popcorn chicken is pretty amazing, which is a shocker. I can eat a whole bag myself. Customer service can use some improvement, maybe try smiling. read more

This Vivi's replaced the Tenrens that use to be here. Though, I am a faithful customer of Tenrens I do love Vivi's. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting and not to mention adorable! The bubble tea's are great too, I usually stick to their normal black milk tea but their moo milks with red beans are becoming a favorite of mine. They were also 5 minutes from closing and remained open and were more than accommodating. Love that theres a vivi's in elmhurst! read more

It's a recurring theme I've noticed in which small Asian cafes serve Lactaid but do not know what it is. They promoted the "moo milk" on the board outside the shop, which I wanted because it advertised the use of lactaid. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I truly appreciate any place that uses lactaid or plant-based dairy substitutes. When I asked if they used lactaid in all of their products, the server had no idea what I was talking about. I just ordered the "yellow moo milk," which in retrospect sounds revolting. It was boba and pudding and, to my dismay, an entire cup of Lactaid. I had asked when ordering what was in the different types of moo milk. She had said "red milk" which I now realized was what she called lactaid (because it has a red carton) along with the different toppings. I definitely think all employees should know the ingredients in the products and should be able to answer questions regarding allergens/gastrointestinal issues. Me paying 4.25 for a cup of lactaid could have been avoided. I also had the fried yams. They were like flavorless sweet potato fries. I wasn't a fan, but for only $3.50, I guess I can't complain. I really appreciate that they take card for everything. They also don't tax which is surprising. Small spot with not a lot of seating. I bought the popcorn chicken here, and it is pretty good if you like eating crispy chicken that you can chew. It's not dried out like the other places around the area, plus the portion and size is on the bigger side :) There should be a bit more pepper added so it is more flavorful but still good! Other than that, I give it 4 stars, because it took over 10 minutes to wait for only one order. If there was a 3 1/2 star I would of given that instead. read more
