My 7 year old son received his 1st pair of glasses from a different visionworks location but they appeared to be defective from the start (screw kept coming out would not stay in). I work right next to this location so I brought his glasses in during my lunch hour and she was very friendly as she confirmed the defect and swapped them out. Making a bad situation pleasant. I will always drive the 45 minutes to shop with this Visionworks over the one closest to my home. First, I took my daughter to this location in Tempe for her first eye exam and glasses purchase. Nicoli was amazing at helping her find the right glasses AND knew everything about our insurance! Definitely 5 stars! I then made the mistake of then going to the Visionworks near my home around the holidays. My glasses didn't fit right and the people were clueless as to why. So off I go to Tempe to see Nicoli. He explained the problem and told me about the guarantee Visionworks has. He helped me find a different pair that actually fit my face and low ears... and they look great! I have been a glasses wearer most of my life and recently went to Visionworks for the first time last week. The frame selection and overall retail service was fantastic; however, the main reason I am leaving a positive review is because of their licensed optical retail supervisor, Tom L., at the Tempe Marketplace location. Although I am a young adult, I require a remarkably strong glasses prescription and I was trying progressive lenses for the first time. Tom understood that having properly fitted glasses is crucial and took special care and time to ensure that all my measurements were absolutely perfect. Additionally, he provided expert guidance regarding the different lenses and what to expect with my progressives. This was the first time I felt adequately attended to while purchasing frames, as opposed to the rushed and impersonal retail experiences I have encountered elsewhere. My partner and I each purchased three frames from Tom, about which he was able to provide us extensive & immediate expert guidance regarding our lens options, coatings, pricing, warranties, etc. Overall, we had a great experience with Visionworks Tempe Marketplace, especially thanks to the professional expertise and care provided by Tom L. Everyone is wonderful. Paul is top notch I've been going here for 3 years now and he has always made sure I'm happy and called and checked that I liked my glasses. My glasses also always arrive early ! I was told 10 days on Friday and was called yesterday (Tuesday) and told they're ready! Woo hoo! Speedy speedy! Also a very progressive store ! I am giving 3 stars because I like my glasses and they were friendly. But the first time I went I was with my mom and newborn baby, my appointment was at 315 we ended up not being seen till about 400. I get it people run behind. After getting my exam i am I paid for my contact and waiting to try on glasses but my baby needs to be changed and feed so being respectful I take him to the car ti breastfeeding him. My mom stayed inside so when it was my turn she would call me to come in, the truth to skip over me and take the another person thankfully I came in right when it was happening. I showed the lady which glasses I wanted she gave me the prices but at that point I needed to leave the baby was sleeping and we needed to get home. They said I could call and order them over the phone. A few days I called to order them they had no information on the glasses I choose and would have to come back in the pick them out again. And if your a new mom with a newborn that is frustrating that is why I scheduled it for when my mom was in town to help me. But I go back the next with my baby and the lady somehow found the glasses I tried on the time before, I go to pay for them but they gave me a 60% coupon since I got contact with my insurance well I didn't have the coupon with me so I told them I would call when I got home to order them. If you a parent you know by the time you get home and settled it takes time so a about 2 hours later I call once again they said they couldn't find my information so I am getting frustrated again because this is the second time they said they can't find my information next thing you know the lady I was working with found them but didn't put the information in the computer I guess. Once they came in I went to pick them up they were great glasses but since I was there I asked about when my contacts would be in. The looked and were there for awhile already. So my experience sorry so long but just seems to me they are very disorganized and need to get a better system. read more

OMG! This was a top notch experience. I was in town for spring training & decided I needed new glasses. Judic never missed a beat finding just the right frame styles. Her recommendations were spot on. She was so personable & helpful. Her expertise matched her customer service skills. I received two pair of glasses in the mail since I live in Chicago & the multi focus measurements were exact. Both pair fit fine; the trifocals are the best fit I've had. I don't know what the other poster was talking about, this place has a great team of people and DO, in fact, accept VSP! My son and I got our prescription, picked frames, and were out of there in under an hour. Tamara was the one that helped us. She's a rock star! She knew exactly about our insurance, took the time to explain the best way to use our benefits in order to maximize what we got, and offered input on the frame and lens selection. What more could you want? Personalized service, attention the detail, and quick turnaround on the finish product. My son already has his glasses (less than 24 hours). Me, well, I'm pretty blind, so it'll take time to find enough plastic to make my lenses. PT. 1: On Saturday at 4:45 pm, I had an appointment for my contact lens fitting. I was also picking up two glasses I ordered on the 23rd of November. With Covid around, I was extremely nervous to even go inside the store and go through the motions to get what I needed. I needed contacts. The glasses I am wearing are cooked, scratched, and honestly giving me the worst headaches. Its been about three years since I had my last eye appointment. I honestly had been saving money, (and money is extremely tight right now) to get this eye doctor appointment, new contacts, and new glasses. I was so happy and excited to go back and pick up my frames and contacts. I actually spent more than I intended on high end frames that were so nice and beautiful, having three old scratched glasses just didn't make sense anymore. I even did something I never do, and got the high quality, high def scratch resistant, the works lens on both of the frames. As soon as I went in, the same man who had helped me on my last visit came up to me. I have looked at my receipt to try to find his name, best I can do is describe him. He was white, bald, and a little overweight. I thought it was a little weird cause when I first when in, the staff seemed really good and checking everyone's temperature, and making them use hand sanitizer when they came in. That didn't happen this time. I informed him I was picking up glasses and contacts. He sat me at a desk and chair and came back with just one pair of frames. I told him it was two. His response was, "oh well why didn't you tell me" seemed annoyed. He came back with the second and I opened my high end frames first, slid them onto my face and it was like butter. I remember making an excited sound and said they fit perfect. Then I opened and tried my second pair on. Both fit great. Here's where my nightmare started. He told me to try them both on. He immediately said "oh they don't fit right" after I told him they both fit fine. He said they "needed to go over my ears." I asked him how can he tell. BY this point he had both of my frames in his hands heating them over the frame heater. As I was, conversation went a like this. And its been imbedded in my head all weekend like a bad PTSD experience. "Oh I remember you, Edibles girl." (I had mentioned on the last visit how I spend my money on medical marijuana and at least if I spend my money on glasses its something I NEED. I felt extremely guilty spending money already and was trying to justify my purchase.) ME: "yeah, it looks like the house is trying to pass it into law" HIM: "yeah, I support it, but its probably not going to pass" ME: "yeah it will be hard, the Senate is mostly conservative Republicans" HIM: "well I'm conservative and support it." ME: "well the senate should wait a few more months to pass things till Georgia's Senate election is over" HIM: "well they shouldn't, cause the Democrats have too much power, and it shouldn't be like that.." ME: "well I also just came to pick up my frames and contacts and not to discuss Politics to be honest." At this point, he handed my frames back to me, and they looked like Captain Hook used him for his costume. Almost like how they curve the frames for little kids. In all honestly my heart dropped. I already knew he had melted my glasses when I DIDN'T ASK FOR THEM TO GET ADJUSTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. And honestly felt like he was trying to show off some secret skill. I put them on and they were immediately too tight and hurt. I asked him to please put them back to how they were originally. He told me he would melt them back, and to go see the ladies for my contact fitting. I met the girls at the desk, and they sat me down to two new samples of contacts to try. And to wait for the doctor after so she could make sure they fit correctly. All went well, but I didn't feel right going back to the creepy guy, So I just Told the Doctor what happened right before she met with me. She introduced me to the General Manager, Judic. I walked up to her talking to another man who worked there who stood next to her while she assisted me. Judic this entire time helping me by the way, was very nice. But I did get the feeling that he was listening and watching what I was saying. It was so hard for me to sit in a chair while she helped me, without feeling like the whole store was watching and listening to me. WHICH THEY WERE, lets me honest. So I felt bad complaining everytime she adjusted the frames to try to fix them. They just didn't feel the same as when I first tried them on. I noticed one of the pairs was warped at the end and melted the plastic to the wire and had a weird dip in it from the heat. So sad. The high end frames still were too tight, but I just felt bad complaining at this point I just sat there sad and didn't have words a lot of the time. Judic said the best she could do was try to reorder the frames, and when they arrive, they could pop in the lens. read more

I was a little late for my appointment but they quickly worked me right in for my exam. While I was waiting, Cindy, I like to call her my personal eyewear concierge, guided me through appropriate choices for my style and budget. She made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. We called and asked them if they accepted our VSP insurance plan. After they said yes, we made the appointment, had the exam and were presented with a bill for the exam, which is normally covered by VSP. At that time we were informed that they did not accept VSP, but would give us a discount of 20% on the exam. Then they offered us a discount if we purchased Contacts and Glasses at the same time and would give us the prescription for the contacts. Glass are free under VSP insurance. Very dishonest and not happy about their attempt to mislead us. Cost us $60 to get out of there. Without the prescription for contacts we will need to get another exam to order contacts from a VSP doctor. read more

I went to this location on recommendation from Acuvue for new contacts. I needed a fitting and a new prescription. The check-in ladies were nice. Dr. Poneh Alavi was the rudest doctor I have ever seen, and unfortunately I see a lot of doctors. I explained to her that I had been wearing the same contacts for about 10 years, because they are semi-hard, and have the weights on the sides for my astigmatism. She asked if I knew what kind they were, and I said I didn't because it had been almost 10 years since I purchased them. I told her I wanted to try the newest contact on the market, and was interested in Acuvue HydraLuxe for Astigmatism. She asked to see my contacts which I only had the right one because the left one I told her had tore. She told me there was no way it tore, it broke. I said, ok it was in two parts in my eye, and I was lucky to have a backup, but I don't like them because they spin. She stared at me for a few moments, obviously trying to figure out what to say. I told her my objective is to start from scratch as if I had never worn contacts before because it had been so long. She said she couldn't fit me for contacts if she didn't know what I had been wearing previously. I repeated, let's just start from scratch, as if I've never worn contacts before so that I can get a new prescription, and order a new pair. This is the kicker; she then said to me "It's obvious you do not understand medicine." I am not a doctor, I do have a masters. Why she decided that was an appropriate comment is beyond me. This was completely unprofessional. I would not want anyone to be treated the way she treated me. I responded with her comment with "we are done here", and I walked out. read more

1st visit I was greeted by a bald guy. He asked me questions to figure out my needs. No other vision place did that. He was super knowledgeable and professional, light conversation, not to pushy but instead get what i needed. Off to the side there was 2 younger girls who were kinda snarky as they looked my way. Like they were upper-class and I was lower. Giggled and chatted. A guy with nice hair was helping someone. Store looked decent. I ordered my glasses and came back when they were in. 2nd visit, one snarky girl off hiding in corner noone acknowledged me. Finally good hair guy said hi but was helping someone . As I stood there waiting to get my temperature checked bald headed guy came out and helped me. He remembered me which was cool. Still was professional, considerate, knowledgeable. Glasses were a bit off around ear but he fixed them. Overall good experience not a fan of snarky girls though. The attitude is there with them. 3rd visit.. my nose piece needed adjustment. attitude girl was there she was the only one not busy. She helped me but something was off. The good hair guy took over. I was very impressed that my Visionworks representive Tom sincerely listened to what I wanted, then went into action to help me without trying to sell me a lot of other stuff. I was price shopping for glasses after having received my prescription from a 3rd party optometrist. My intention was to use frames that I already had from my last prescription. Tom worked up prices using my insurance and the store special to come up with the best cost. The store special was less expensive than using my insurance but not lower than a quote I'd received from another retailer. Tom advised that when I returned to the other retailer I make certain their price included the same options Visionworks was giving and he gave me the exact info to ask about. Turns out the other retailer had given me a quote for narrower width progressive lenses and other lesser quality options than what Visionworks was quoting. When the other retailer reluctantly re-quoted, their new price was closer to Visionworks' quote. Regardless, I returned to Visionworks to place my order primarily because they had been honest from the beginning, personable, and so helpful. Many thanks to Tom for advising me to verify what I was getting for the lower price and giving me the specific info to ask about. I recommend the same to anyone doing comparative shopping - find out exactly what you're getting for your money. Different stores have different (marketing) names for their offerings to make apples-to-apples comparisons difficult when using trade names only. read more

Horrible customer service. Called and told me my insurance company had nothing in their system for me. But both times I called my insurance they were able to find me in seconds and provide me with my ID number and plan information. They somehow also found that I had a separate plan on my health insurance without me giving them any information about my healthcare plan. Would recommend going elsewhere. read more

First time visit today, I was underwhelmed to say the least. Should have went to my regular optometrist but this was closer to home. There was one person out of 6 that was friendly. Everyone else was mediocre, not welcoming, just blah. The gentleman working in the glasses was nice and tried to engage me a little, he was also the only one to actually greet me when I walked in. He seemed to be making connections with his customers as well. Dr Lam was okay at best, she lacks trying to make a connection with her patients. The ladies at the check in desk were not welcoming nor did not try to make an effort to even smile very much. The only plus was my visit only lasted 30 min(I got contacts) Will not be returning. read more
