A long long time ago Dr Frank casserda helped me when I had punk tate epithelial erosions on my corneas and had vertigo due to that. He treated me and inserted punctual plugs in my eyes so I wouldn't lose so many tears and my eyes wouldn't get so dry. The problem cleared up and I haven't gotten it back since and I just remember the doctor being reassuring and being good at what he did. Dr. Caserta is truly a godsend -- not just for us, but for anyone lucky enough to find him. I've been seeing him for over 8 + years and have always known he's a rare kind of doctor -- one who truly cares. But what he did for my wife recently proved just how exceptional he is. One Sunday morning in March 2025, my wife woke up nearly blind in one eye -- her vision had gone from a blurry band to complete fog. We had already seen an eye doctor and our PCP earlier that week, but no one had an answer. I left a voicemail at Dr. Caserta's office -- and though my wife wasn't even his patient, he called back in 15 minutes. He opened his office on a Sunday just to see her. After a thorough exam, he correctly diagnosed optic neuritis -- inflammation of the optic nerve, not the eye itself. He insisted we go to the ER immediately and had the attending physicians talk with him on his personal number to ensure proper treatment. He stayed in contact until 9:00 PM on a Sunday!!, making sure the team at Mayo Clinic (56th street) were on the same page as his diagnosis and line of treatment he thought was needed immediately. Thanks to his fast action and persistence, my wife's vision was fully restored within 12 hours. Every doctor we met afterward was amazed -- not just by his accurate diagnosis, but by his dedication. I've never been in this facility before. I needed an eye exam and an ophthalmology exam and this office did both. In the few minutes I was in this office I formed the opinion that I REALLY liked this doctor and if I can help it, I will never go anywhere else. Have been a long-time patient for many years, but found myself reaching that point when cataracts needed to be dealt with. Dr. Caserta took time to explain the options: simple lens replacement or using a correcting lens to help with astigmatism. I opted for the correcting lenses and just had both eyes done in September & October 2022. Amazing vision, now only needing simple readers for computer and close reading. This was in spite of the presence of a mild film on my retina that he recommended against treating due to risk and possible complications. Today is New Years day and most doctors offices are closed (and will be over the weekend as well). I called Frank and left a message on his after hours line. He called me back right away and was able to see us within 20 mins! My son had a piece of of metal in his eye and needed it removed as soon as possible. I have been seeing Dr. Caserta for last 4- 5 years. I sought out the best for 3 reasons: I am in my 60s, my mother had wet macular degeneration which led to poor vision and now that I am retired I do large steel sculptures which involves welding, grinding, etc. which can be dangerous to eyes but I love it. I've been a patient of Dr. Frank Caserta since about 2000. While Dr. Caserta is a good eye doctor, he and his staff have little to no regard for wasting patients' time. I have almost never been seen within 30 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. Today I was scheduled for an annual eye exam at 2:30. I arrived at 2:15 and gave the staff my updated health insurance, etc. After then being ignored for the next 40 minutes, I left. I left at 3:10 PM - and still had not been seen by the doctor (or even taken to the exam room) and was not even told that they were sorry for the delay. After 18+ years of waiting, I'm over it. Making patients wait this long (30+ minutes after scheduled appointments) on a regular basis is disrespectful and rude. Don't waste your time on this office and Dr. Caserta - because they certainly will waste your time and not care one bit. read more

Well I hate to give bad reviews but thorough ones are needed. My arrival time was 15 minutes before my check- in time which is 15 minutes or so minutes before the actual appointment time(30 minutes before my appointment) but was still not seen until and hour after my appointment time and an hour. Mind you this was a Monday morning 8am appointment and there were a lot of people there but at 8am and already an hour behind... I'm a little disappointed. The waiting area was comfortable however crowded. Lots of magazines and things to read, I saw someone bring in a laptop to work on while I was there... smart people in the world make me jealous in these situations. They took me back approximately 30 hour in to see an assistant who went over my issue/eye sight check and then headed me back to the waiting area. Dr. Ford was very knowledgeable which is why I gave the 3 star rating. He took his time (all of about 15 minutes) explaining my ailment and that it wasn't serious and would go away eventually. The office was clean, parking was ample and the office was easy to find. I don't know if I would come back unless I got the first appointment of the day. I didn't think it would become an almost two hour endeavor which was the downside. read more

This was not my first visit to the offices of Ford and Caserta and no, it was NOT the first time there was surly staff. They are nice enough on the phone but in person, not so much. I too arrived at 7:45 for an 8 a.m. appointment. The receptionist did not look at me. She just handed me a clipboard and asked for my insurance card. I dutifully filled out the papers and returned them to her and then my wait began. She was rude to other patients too. They really need a new receptionist who is empathetic or at least smiles. I didn't want to be there at 7:45 either! At 8:20 she notified me that my doctor called in and was running a half hour late. Are you kidding me? By the time of his expected arrival, I would have been waiting an hour. My time is valuable too! I understand emergencies, but if that was the case, then I think I would have been informed of that. I didn't wait. I have responsibilities too. I made another appointment but probably won't keep it. I'm still annoyed by this and don't think my insurance or I should have to pay for sub par service. Sorry, docs. Get your act together and maybe your patients will be content. read more

I have been going to Dr. Caserta for over 10 years. All of this time I have been 'borderline for glaucoma.' My other eye doc wanted to start me on medication years ago, but Dr. Caserta follows me every year, and to date I have not had to deal with medications. While I was nervous facing Cataract surgery, Dr. Caserta answered all my questions and I received detailed written instructions so I wouldn't forget. For each eye surgery, Dr. Caserta was super organized and I could tell from listening to the nurses that Dr. Caserta had specific instructions and expectations for the treatment of his patients. It's unfortunate that people who don't like working with the public often find themselves working in doctor offices. I scheduled a same-day appointment with Dr Ford because of an eye issue that developed over the weekend. I was not a new patient. Erma, the scheduler, was rude from the get go. Once I got to the office, the reception was no friendlier and I had to wait to check-in until she was done telling a co-worker that she had bought a new 50" TV at Walmart during their Black Friday sale. After waiting nearly an hour to see Dr Ford, I asked how much longer. I was reminded no less than three times that I had a "same-day" appointment...as if I should be happy to simply be sitting in the waiting room. I asked why it mattered if I had a same-day appointment, I had a scheduled appointment with a set time. Two other staff members gave conflicting excuses - the doctor had to dilate the eyes of a previous patient and Dr Ford was short a technician that day. These were factors only known to the staff when I made the appointment, yet I should be ok sitting in the office during my lunch for nearly an hour. I left. I would have to be desperate to put myself back in this gauntlet of incompetence. BTW, Dr Ford is a fine optometrist but doctors have to do a better job hiring and training their outward facing staff. I don't think doctor are aware what their patients have to go through just to see them. BTW, after reading other yelp reviews, I see that I am not the only one to experience Dr. Ford's surly front office staff. read more

This place is terrible. I had an eye infection and the health center at ASU sent me here. I wish they hadn't. The secretary is rude and so are most of the patients. You never actually get seen at your appointment time. I waited as much as an hour. They take people in whatever order they damn well please. They skipped me for some obnoxious woman who had a later appointment. Now that my eye is better, I will not be returning and I recommend that no one else does either. Unless you want to pay a heinous amount of money to get treated terribly. read more

I have seen Dr. Caserta several times for checkups and eye infections. He has always been friendly and patient. I am 71. Until recent years, I never had problems with my eyes. But I have had recurring corneal ulcers for the past three years. These are very dangerous and must be treated immediately. Dr. Caserta's office is busy, but his staff has always gotten me in. One such emergency occurred on Christmas Eve. The office was planning to close early, but Dr. Caserta found time to see me. Other reviewers have complained about rudeness from the office staff. I have never encountered that. The staff is business-like. Another reviewer complained that the lady behind the counter didn't smile. I can't remember whether I received a smile. Nor do I care. I go there to see Dr. Caserta. I am also puzzled by the complaints about having to wait. In my 71 years, I have seen doctors countless times. I have always had to wait. Anyone who expects to waltz right in to see a doctor is dreaming. In sum, I think Dr. Caserta is excellent. He is very cordial and knows his stuff.
