I recently visited this location but I typically have appointments at their Ahwatukee office. As related to the pandemic and precautions they are taking, I felt safe. I was leery about going but I had to -- eyes are important! During eye exams, we are in very close contact with the staff and doctors which is a bit scary during this pandemic. Temperatures were taken and the chairs in the waiting are spaces approximately 6 feet apart. I wish they would have been further apart since I'm a germaphobe. When the space was full of patients, the staff asked patients to wait in their vehicles and they would call them when the room was ready. Temperatures were taken and everyone had a mask on. My visit with Dr Remington was good. I love working with her. She is very calm yet, personable. She explains things very well and is thorough. The first tech I saw was amazing. I don't recall her name but she is the kind of young professional with a lot of confidence. I liked that in younger person. I complimented her on that. She was efficient and that was appreciated. I was referred to a specialist and was surprised that the front office team made the appointment for me. I've never had that done for me before. Impressive! I'll keep going here because, why not? I am confident I'm in good hands. read more

First, let me say I really like the physicians who work in this practice. In fact, most of the workers are excellent. I would give them 5 stars. Where I have a BIG problem is with the wait times. Today, my appointment was scheduled for 9:15AM. I arrived at about 9:05AM. I waited in the main waiting area...then waited in the middle waiting area...then waited in the treatment room. Finally seen by Dr. Matsumoto for a 5-minute follow-up for my surgery yesterday. Normally, I would not make a big deal out of an occasional extended wait time, but this has happened with this practice MANY times. Anything more than 15 minutes is just unacceptable. We DO have lives outside their practice. FYI, it was 10am by the time I was finished with my 5 minute, appointment. read more

The rescheduled date was 5 weeks later. Great surgeons and wonderful doctors. I had laser surgery which was painless and through. All the doctors were great. And also the staff were very friendly and helpful! I recommend this center for any type of eye problems. I will be returning every for all my eye needs!! read more

I had my first appointment with Dr. Matsumoto in August of 2024 for a cataract. I went to the Sun Lakes AZ office. The wait for a 9:00 am appointment was long but I didn't pay attention because I had seen Dr. Mansueto in this practice years earlier and loved the practice. I had several appointments before having my cataract removed in November of 2024. My experience is the same as the recent one star reviews. The wait in this office is DISRESPECTFUL to the max. Wait to be called back to a room runs from 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes. The doctor seems to come into the room within 15 minutes of you getting there. At one point during my recovery I phoned 3 different extensions on a business day to try to speak with a human because every recording suggested I might not hear back that day. I had matter that looked infected discharging from my cataract eye. I finally got a young lady (not bright) and she said oh dear ... I have not heard of that ... and put me on hold. She came back to the call and said, well, you have an appointment next week. They will look at it then. !!!! At one point I asked the 'check in gal' ... is it normal to wait extensive amounts of time before being brought into a room? She was reluctant to answer but responded with ... you will be called back soon . When I was finally called back, the young olive skinned girl slammed the door and was obviously annoyed that I suggested the office was running very slow! When I spoke with Dr Matsumoto about it he said the office manager (Cindy Leonard) is in charge of the staff. I asked Dr. M ... when is the best time to schedule an appointment here because I always wait a very long time. He said ... something magic happens at the end of the day ... everything gets caught up because if I don't leave on time, neither does my staff. So Dr. Matsumoto must be ok with the wait during the rest of the day. He also is part owner of the Gilbert Surgery Center where my procedure was done. The facility is TOP NOTCH AND WELL MANAGED. Very unlike the management of the Tempe office (and maybe Sun Lakes office too). There was many other times the Tempe office was frustrating...I was told I would get a phone call within 3 weeks (???? 3 weeks????) to answer other questions I had (I had been bitten in the eyeball by a dog and had weird issues with a misshapen eyeball). Dr. M finally returned my call 2 weeks and 6 days into the 3 week timeframe. If you call and ask them to leave a message for a Dr to call you back ... they say 'sorry, the doctor will not call you back.' When I asked Dr. Matsumoto the day I confronted him about all this ... he said, 'you can leave a message. I will call you back.' I said, 'your staff will not take a message for you to call me back.' His shoulders slumped and he said ... right. He said, 'leave a message on the recording after hours. I will call you back.' I understand this practice serves a lot of confused older people and this probably doesn't make sense most of the time. I HOPE YOU SEE THE FRUSTRATIONS OF DEALING WITH THIS PRACTICE!!!! Onward to the optometrist area. I'm a business manager and highly annoyed at mismanaged businesses. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS ONE. So I use my time to speak with the others in the optometrist and waiting room. When I start speaking about the wait there .. everybody looks at me. I say ... raise your hand if you're annoyed? EVERYBODY DOES!!!!! But they say ... Dr. Matsumoto is the BEST! I say ... there's a lot of BESTS BY NOW!!! I say ... ok who gets there eyeglasses here? Everybody raises their hands. I say ... are you happy with waits, prices and service? NOBODY IS!!! I say ... I get my glasses at Wal-Mart!! Their service and prices are GREAT!!! Everybody started whispering to each other. I think this office will see a change in optometrist demands for sure. There are two employees who stood out to me in this practice. Like they don't belong because their work ethic is so much higher than the rest of the staff. Kelly who measured my cataract and Jair who helped note the results of my surgery. So ... if you're frustrated ... DON'T GO BACK!!! Find a new best doctor and praise them for their proper management of their office as well as their skills as an MD!!! Cindy Leonard should be fired if this is her fault. Dr. Matsumoto ... you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing the disrespect of your patients' time. My surgery was completed 2 months ago. I still have a halo around lights at night so I guess I get to live with that. I was told I had a high percentile chance of that changing. DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU DON'T VALUE YOUR TIME. While you may have a wait at times, Dr. Grossman is one of the finest optometrists I have dealt with in my 75 years. He is kind, patient, helpful and highly professional. I feel so fortunate to have had him caring for me through and after my cataract surgery. He also cared for my husband after his surgery and we had the same reaction. I've been a patient here for approximately 30 years. The wait time to see the doctor at this facility is the longest I have to wait at any doctor's office. I had a 2:30 pm appointment today, and at 3:30 I still hadn't even been called back. I then would have had to have a test, eyes dilated, and wait some more before seeing the doctor. I couldn't wait that long, so I had to leave. Now I'll have to either schedule another appointment (and wait some more), or perhaps find a new doctor. read more

I paid cash for my balance from my surgery back in October. I was given a receipt unfornatlley I have mispaced my receipt. They are saying I never paid them when you call no one can help you or they will call you back. Lesson learned never pay cash. It's a joke. Beware of this place. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! The front office never answers the phone. I had an issue with a prescription, so I was following up on it. Than found out it is 200-500 a month. I can't afford that and needed clarification from the doctor, the tech said you would need to make another appointment. Any doctor office of any type you can send a message to a doctor. The review is more for my doc than the facility as a whole. I will say this office seems to have it together. No excessively long delays -so far. Reception, appointments, billing and payments are handled efficiently. Even when I brought some lab results in to share with my doc, it was handled properly and when I saw my doc this morning she had received and reviewed them. I will say many of the magazine's are vintage. That cracks me up. Now my doctor is super nice. Lets be real, ALL physicians should be personable and have a good "bedside manner". My physician here is just very real. Sort of like a friend or a parent with her concern in regards to me taking care of myself and such. But I suppose that type of care is just part of why I like this doc. She respects the direction I've opted to take for healing and was right on the mark with specific tests to run to rule out the cause of my issues. Open communication, personal follow up and regular contact with other doctor(s) to get this body functioning as close to normal once again. Seriously, who knew your eye could have problems that stem from your body was having health issues? The stuff ya learn. BTW, I'm just shouting the praises but don't want to mention a name cuz I don't want to wait any longer to see the doc next time cuz all of you decided to go there. (Whoa. Horrible offices and they LIE. I had an emergency (and emergencies with the eye are serious). I was given an appt. Then they said I cannot come in without the referral. Then said I could come in. So I called back twice and a very nasty woman said "that per the office mgr. they will NOT let me come in w/out the referral. So I canceled. Then they said "you could have come in without the referral, and tried to deny saying I could not. "Our office mgr. would NEVER say that". Oh yeah? I record my phone calls as do they (says so in their thing. If something bad happens to my eye, they will be responsible. But, a HORRIBLE PLACE that lies, so I wouldn't recommend them. read more

This is one of two locations for this practice. They have on staff here several specialists, and so can address all aspects of your eye health. They may cost a tad more than a simple optometrist, but they can deal with anything you have. Our daughter had a sty removed several years ago (by Dr Mansueto), and my wife and I have been coming here for full check-ups for even longer, starting with Dr Lewis (who has since retired). This last visit I was informed that I will probably need cataract surgery in about 10 years. Unless things change with this practice I will come here for that procedure. I've seen both Dr Matsumoto and Dr Konti, and both seem very competent. read more

I hate going to get my eyes tested, but I must say Dr. Lanzer made my experience an absolute pleasure. She doesn't rush you in and out and you can tell that she really enjoys her job. I've had multiple docs tell me that I can't have a touch up on my lasik because my cornea is too thin. I told her this and she did an extensive evaluation that no other doc had done and she informed me that I could have the touch up if I wanted too. I have been a patient of this practice for the past 7 years. I cannot say enough good things about them. Dr Hylton is always so friendly & really makes certain that I understand what I need to do (use drops, take meds etc). Sometimes her schedule is busy & she may run a few minutes behind but I remember my first visit with her when she worked me into an already full schedule. Then the next morning at 7am how she called me personally to follow up. You cannot pay for that kind of care. read more

BEST IN CLASS! Dr. Mansueto is a doctor's doctor! I am a facial plastic surgeon and I chose Dr. Mansueto to help me with my upper eyelid cosmetic surgery for extra skin! This is a surgery I have performed literally thousands of times and know quite well! Lisa Mansueto is an amazing surgeon. She has kindness beyond most. Her attention to detail is second to none. I have seen her surgical results for years and have worked with her in the operating room on some of the most difficult eyelid cases that can be completed. She is now a close friend and trusted colleague that developed from mutual trust working on complicated patients. Now to her office and team! Well organized. Appropriately professional but friendly. Okay, I have not been here yet. So this ratings is just by phone conversations.I am schedule for an appointment in May. When I called, the scheduler was not very pleasant, like she does not want to be there, the questions I had asked 2 -3 questions about their service, she had an attitude, I felt uncomfortable. I called back again to ask another question about insurances, this time the front office picked up, same attitude. She did answer my question but Its like she is upset with the jobs, as I was about to say- okay- bye, she hung up ( I don't think shes upset with me) I gave 2 stars for bad customer service by phone. I'll never know if this doctor is good. After waiting eight weeks for my appointment I showed up and they were running an hour and 45 minutes late. So they rescheduled me for the following week. So I came back - my mistake! After waiting 10 minutes after my appointment and being with the nurse for 30 minutes they told me the doctor that I was seeing is unable to conduct a contact lens exam. Literally talked to this office eight times and no one ever mentioned they could not assist me. I was very upfront with my needs. I've seen other posts which mention the rudeness of the front desk. I would say the front desk was nice however completely inapt at their jobs. The head of the clinic came in to speak with me and told me that the front desk would not be able to help me or know whether they conduct a contact lens exam. Apparently you have to wait two months and then be rejected. Such a frustrating experience! Not worth the time! read more

I came in contact with Dr. Mansueto after being diagnosed with a tumor between my eye and brain. Dr. Mansueto immediately ordered a CT Scan to assure that the tumor had not reached the brain as well as affected the bone. Dr. Mansueto told us up front she thought I had Non Hodgkins Lymphoma of the Ocular Orbit but could not be sure till we were able to secure a frozen section and sent it to pathology. Sure enough she was correct and I am now on my way to recovery. If you looked at me you would not know that I had any type of eye surgery. Dr. Mansueto is a genius in every sense of the word. How she was able to open it up, remove the tumor and sew it back up is a miracle. Her bedside manner, her ability to explain everything up front and her ability to forge ahead and schedule the surgery was the best I have ever seen. If you have any type of eye problem, make it a point to see Dr. Lisa Mansueto. She is the BEST of the VERY BEST! read more

The doctor was ok but the staff is rude and uncommunicative. I waited 50 minutes after my appointment time and the staff made no comment or apologies about the lateness. In fact, I don't think anyone spoke to me at all during the time I was there except "put your forehead here, etc etc". They were almost completely mute. Very strange, unprofessional and unnecessary. No explanation at all about what drops they were putting in, why they were doing what they were doing. Doctors, train your staff!!! People are not robots!! Terrible experience. read more

Dr. Konti is absolutely fantastic, and my whole experience getting cataract surgery at the Surgery Center was A++++ If we could stop right there, 5****** from me, and I have already recommended Dr. Konti and his whole team to friends, and will continue to do so. But something needs to be addressed. Every single time I appeared for an appointment in the Tempe office the person who greeted me was somewhere between brush off and downright rude, maybe discriminating against me because I'm old and white... I really couldn't possibly tell you, because I have been blown away by the rudeness. No friendly greeting, barking out commands about taking temperature or masking (which I have always done), and my final attempt at a visit I was late and apologized and the reaction was horrendous, and finally, she left the desk to see if they would still see me (23 minutes late), and she triumphantly told me NO when she got back... The message was delivered with an air of superiority. No "I'm so sorry, but we're overbooked today." There have never been any courtesy shown to me at that front desk. I suggest that the front desk staff be trained in common courtesy or replaced by someone who can greet you with a smile and be kind. read more

I am a longtime patient here, and I'm almost overqualified to speak about the practice since I have had bad myopia, glaucoma, and dry eyes. My torn retina and severe floaters were handled on a referral to a retinologist, but Dr. Mansueto has handled my upper lid skin reduction, my cataracts, and the recent removal of a lymphoma at the bottom of the eye orbit. She is unbelievably skilled: when I mentioned her name to my PC, he said, "Oh--the eyelid queen of the Valley!" Indeed. When Dr. Lewis retired, I moved on to Dr. Hylton, who has been absolutely wonderful at handling my ongoing "regular" care. She is an excellent communicator, gentle and thorough in her interactions with me. I always used to say "Anything but my eyes..." So here I am with serious problems. I do feel lucky to have these doctors to take care of me, however, and I trust them implicitly. Sometimes there can be delays, but I know eye emergencies and just try to relax and wait them out--I know if I was the emergency, they'd be taking care of me, and I'd be the reason people had to wait. read more

Im going to jump right into this. Dr. Konti has changed my life through his professionalism and Lasik. Starting in my early 20s I needed glasses and didn't want to admit it. In my late 20s I finally had to get them in order to avoid driving like some people do on the road. You may or may not know who you are, wild drivers haha! I don't mean offense by saying that or to anyone by saying this, but some people look and feel great in glasses, I am not one of those people. I hated them and my contacts experience with other Doctors was never quite dialed in. I always listened to people telling me "Lasik is too expensive"...not the case..."It seems to good to be true"...not the case..."Too painful not worth it"...def not the case. I didn't feel an ounce of pain or even discomfort. EVERYONE at his offices made me feel comfortable they were nice and sharp-you want to know that everyone knows their stuff and is on point and that is the case- Dr. Konti is one of those gifted Dr.s! I woke up from a nap a few hours after the procedure and could see so good that I teared up a bit. Manly tears of joy though. I was watching a commercial and could see the fine print effortlessly and I know that seems small-pun intended-but I was missing out on so many details and comfort by waiting and listening to the common crowd without exploring for myself. The office manager contacted me and "waived" the fee and rectified the situation. I have never had surgery before and was unaware of all of the nuances involved. Not to get on a soap box but this is a prime example of the sad state of affairs our health care system is in. The reimbursements from insurance companies have gotten smaller so offices like this are pressed to schedule more visits than necessary to make up for the lack of revenue. Insurance companies specialize as to not cover every aspect. This is a great example as my vision insurance paid for the initial eye exam. That Dr determined I had a cataract and told me not to get contacts or eye glasses until I see a surgeon. I had to go to my family dr to get a referral to this office. My medical insurance took care of one eye but would not cover the other. The vision insurance already paid for one eye exam for the year and refused to pay for another. My other eye had changed significantly so the initial exam didn't mean anything. It makes no sense. I am thankful that this office stepped up and took care of this situation. I left at three stars in hope hat it spurs hem to change their policies. I discussed a contact for my right eye with the surgeon from the first visit. They charged me for an eye exam but claimed it was for eye glasses even though they told me after surgery I could not wear glasses because my eyes would be so different. So why did they charge me for an eyeglass exam? read more

I would never recommend Dr. Konti. The lack of thoughtful care and patient rapport would best describe my appointment. His diagnosis and treatment recommendations were condescending with no resolution. He may be able to see you earlier (with a long wait), but I presume it's because there is no demand for his personality, arrogance or lack of interest especially if you present with no obvious surgical treatment. I would recommend investing time, finances and concerns with a physician who cares. read more

To be fair, I cant really speak about all of the docs here, but I was not at all happy with Dr. Inning. She didn't take her time with me (I felt rushed the whole time like she had some at all and was very condescending. She poked me in the eye and didnt apologize. The staff seemed nice and competent when I made the appointment, but I think they made a mistake bringing her on board.
