As a kid, I don't think to get a primary care physician. As an adult. I recognize I probably should. And like so many I didn't go to the doctors until I had to. When I did I went to Primacare. If you ask me I wouldn't go to any other place , after the first visit, I decided that Primacare was going to be the place that would take care of me. I've chosen Primacare to be the house of my primary care physician. I've been going to them for years and have been listened to, cared for, and any opportunity I can. I recommend them to everyone. I've seen all the doctors that work with Primacare, specifically in this location, and everyone is so kind, considerate, and just wonderful people. Seriously. Love these guys, the front desk, the nurses, the PA and the doctor! The front desk gals are polite, helpful, professional and efficient. It's nice to have an option of seeing a man or woman doctor. I started with the doctor, he is great..can be busier to get in with so I started seeing his PA and I think the world of her. She's knowledgeable, explanatory, conscientious and open. Dr Zaheer Shah is an internal medicine specialist who is an excellent communicator. He talked with me, not at me or down to me. Dr Shah is caring and knowledgeable about medicine AND knowledgeable about how to explain to and interact with his patients. I never feel rushed by him. PrimaCare feels like a home away from home, the receptionists are more than welcoming, I was almost an hour late and they invited me in anyway. One of them, Nancy I believe, even said; "I'd stay here until midnight just to make sure every patient felt seen and heard. I have been to this office 3x in the past 2 months. The first 2x I met with the PA Hannah and the office was not that busy. Hannah spent a more than sufficient amount of time reviewing my blood work, answering questions, etc. Great experience. My 3rd time I met with Dr. Shah about an ankle issue. There were a lot of patients in at the time. Dr. Shah listened to me describe the issue, gave a diagnosis, and suggested starting with 1-2 minimal-intervention treatments. I was just about to ask a question when I realized he had already left the room to write some notes down and see the next patient. I know he was busy but it would have been nice to answer my 1-2 quick questions or at least say goodbye? I am not generally a complaining person, and aside from the abrupt leave, the rest of my experience has been wonderful. I'll keep going for a few more visits to decide if I want to keep going here long term. read more

Love this place - I had been looking for a primary care Physician for about a year and tried several. This place is great!! Both the Docs here take time and come it to talk to you instead of diagnosing just a chart. Appointments are not a factory setting but they actually care and get a great baseline the very first time. I have never been less satisfied with a health care facility. I have attempted to establish Care here twice now two years apart from each other. Both times I have waited a ridiculous amount of time to be seen. They are not straightforward about bloodwork and ordered the wrong labs for me. Wow this has hands down been the best primary care I've been apart of! Clean facilities, staff was incredible understanding, friendly, and listened to me! They payed attention and was responsive to my needs, and I genuinely felt like they cared about my wellbeing. Walking in and seeing those girls at the front desk always greeting me and with a smile on there face. Kaitlyn always had this infectious smile that made me feel like I was in the right hands to be taken care of. Now not only was the front of house incredible but most importantly it's a doctors office and Hanna the PA was the most hardworking PA I've ever seen! She was not only understanding but asked multiple questions to get down to the bottom of why I was in there. An incredible human being that will go very far in this industry and I'm very lucky to have the help she's given me, that extra mile! Horrible office! This Dr brought me in told me I was congested and left within 5-10 minutes. Then I went and did bloodwork for 5 minutes and left. This was all after waiting in one of the office's on my phone for 30 minutes. When I get the bill back from my insurance he coded or told the insurance this was a level 4 visit. Which means this "A level 4 new patient visit is a 45-59 minute visit that requires a high level of medical decision-making. This type of visit is also known as a CPT 99204, and it's used when a patient has a complex medical history and requires an extensive physical examination. The visit also includes a review of systems that must include at least 10 systems or body areas, and the patient's past, family, and social history must cover all three areas." Basically he told the insurance he did a lot more than he did to receive a higher compensation. I am a 25 year old male who is very healthy and has not seen a doctor since highschool. Does that sound like someone with a complex medical history? Does it really require an extensive physical exam when I went in there because I had a soar throat? He looked at my throat and then prescribed me a nasal spray and left... Long story short, don't go to this place. The doctor doesn't care about you they care about getting clients in and out and sending in claims with more work that was done to get a higher compensation from the insurance. This is the exact reason insurance is so expensive in America because doctors lie and say they did more than they really did. When I called into the office with questions, the dr told me it was best if I found a new dr and suggest I pay the bill. If not he'd send it to collections, not sure if that was a threat but not a dr I want to go to. read more

It's probably difficult to write a review for most primary care facilities... but PrimaCare truly makes it easy! The front desk is friendly and attentive... you never wait long to enter the queue... and the entire medical care staff is personable and (here's the most important part) they LISTEN to you! PrimaCare solved my decades long gastrointestinal issues by figuring out that I had Celiac Disease. What a relief to understand the cause of my ongoing troubles for so many years! On my last visit, I came in for a simple blood draw to get my COVID-19 antibody test... and it was a quick painless process that involved fun friendly chats with their medical student and phlebotomist! Terrible experience. Dr did not listen to my concerns, I felt very rushed. I was prescribed a new medication that had to have additional authorizations. Called the office 2 times on 2 separate days and was told I would be notified once they contacted my insurance. Never happened. If you call the dr office don't expect to speak to someone in the USA. Terrible service. Here I am over a week later with a diagnosis that is untreated. Just diabetes no biggie. At least that is how this office treats it. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was once a patient here but no more. I stayed only because his PA Kayla Shelly was fantastic. We had a great patient PA relationship, and she was good at her Job. Dr. Shah and I say that loosely on the other hand is only out for how many visits he can get out of you for the most minute things. He is like a lot of Doctor's in it for billing the insurance company for unneeded Dr visits. I saw him once while Kayla was on maternity leave for something that could have been handled on the phone, but he made me make an appointment. Others I know have said the same about him. Does not listen chastises his patients and even gets angry with them. Avoid him at all costs. Kayla is no longer there so I will be moving on to. read more

This location is not very close to me, but I will continue to make the drive because of the wonderful bedside manner I receive from Kayla! I have been seeing her for the past few years now, and she is always awesome. Always willing to spend time going over questions and concerns and I never feel like she doesn't care or is in a rush to push me out. This office is always great about doing same day appointments, which is a huge plus. Another perk to this office is they do bloodwork onsite! The ladies are friendly and helpful from when you first walk in and until you leave. The doctor that "helped" me, Dr. Shah, he was a joke! Waisted my time coming here. I came for a server medical issue that has been getting worse and needed advice on what to do or what medical steps to take. He gave no advice AT ALL! He took no notes, and kept asking me the same thing over and over. And I kept telling him "sir, you asked me that already." He kept trying to bash my old doctor back in Cali for no reason at all. Shah is a money grabber and runs a cash cow of a "PRIMARY CARE". His PRIMARY objective is to milk as much money from you as he can by billing unnecessary tests and visits. He does NOT CARE about the patient and what they have to say. His ego is through the roof. He hides from patients by making it look like he's too busy and has instructed his staff to play along. I've witnessed him hide in a dark room, caught from the corner of my eye. You cannot make it up - It's unreal and extremely sad. The other negative reviews summarize things well. He gets irate and angry at patients without reason. He needs patience not patients. I honestly think the guy needs to see a therapist. I RARELY go to the doctor and this one reminded me how BAD they can be. I went to this office and explained that I would be leaving the country a week later. This information was provided to the admin person at the desk and the doctor. I then filled out first time visit form and then waited in the exam room for 50 minutes, the doctor seemed in a hurry and annoyed I was slowing down his day or whatever and I have not been in to a doctor in years so this was pretty annoying. I had just mentioned that I will be out of the country to , the then tried to schedule me a week out to review. I should mention I was on crutches due to hurting my knee and after seeing me for 5 minutes I was was told by the front desk AND the doctor I would need to get MRI on my knee. They handed me and order form and seemed to end for the care at this point. I asked, "oh so you dont help with the scans I now need to schedule, you dont do that to help me?" "no your need to get a scan through outsourced scanning facility like banner" "but you told me there is a place across the street and its walk in, I have less than a week to get this done" Turns out that the scans take 5-7 days since its not a referral from in network, I was in network for the doctor but the ORDER they gave me was to a place that is not. In short this doctor and staff were not really concerned with making sure my needs were met. I ended up going to cigna medical center down the street and was taken in and taken care of same day with much better service. I was hurt and on crutches and this doctor was a waste of time, they have called me about 8 times trying to do a follow up for the scans they dont have just to further drive home the incompetence of this office and adding to my frustration. Overall I should have just went to the ER, I would say part of this painful process was the insurance people but most the issue I had was the lack of the primary care doctor helping me and guiding me to get proper care in my timeframe. UPDATE 9-14-21 after getting back from vacation I have a 2500$ charge from this doctor from work that was NOT even performed, like MRI of my knee they submitted but was never even done or my checkup work that was also not performed, this is FRAUD and I will be fighting this! read more

To some degree it is our fault that we did not insist on getting pre-approvals from our insurance when Dr. Shelly referred my wife for an MRI, but I would also expect Dr. Shelly to be knowledgeable about what kind of tests she needs to run before MRI is approved. After 3 appeals with insurance, every doctor said that we should have had some kind of a test first. We ended up paying over $2,500 out of pocket. read more

I haven't seen a doctor in 15 years. I am an independent contractor, and like millions of American adults, I have no health insurance. I held off on finding a primary care physician because I am cash pay. But, I'm in my 30's, so I wanted to be responsible and find myself a PCP. If you are in a simlilar situation. Look else where for health care. There are places you can go for well woman's checkups that are $100. They not only charged me that, but I got a $298 bill on top of that. They even assumed I had insurance and almost let me walk out of there without paying anything! I said I was cash pay and they thanked me for my honesty! However. That will be the last time I go there. And there's more. I had some numbers on my blood test that were slightly high. They were considerate of the cash pay thing and sent me to another lab for blood work. I really appreciated that! But on my second check, why wasn't I retested for some of my high numbers? You wrote the lab orders... I'm not a doctor, I don't know what lab tests to ask for besides what's on the paper I was given. Tell me my cholesterol is a little high and don't tell me how to fix it? And not retest for it? I had to google how to lower it. Among other blood test results. My blood looks a little "thick" so I'm referred to a hemotologist? You can judge, but it's because I smoke. Why am i seeing a blood specialist doctor for that??? Remember, I'm cash pay. Google answered that for free as well. I also don't recommend Google as your PCP. By the way. That's not how it should work when you go see a professional. They should be the ones telling you. I thought I'd be getting a "physical" whatever that is. I thought I was getting a skin check? Idk. I was expecting a lot more considering I hadn't seen a doctor since I was 18. I could go on.... I even wrote down a list of questions that we never got to because I was shooed out of there. The doc I saw is nice, the office is clean, it's all around fine. That's why I gave this place a few chances. I'm actually sure it's great if you have insurance. But if you don't. Don't bother. They will see you for 3.5 minutes. I still have a lot of things about my health I have questions about and I've been in there 3 times I think? Find another doctor who will give you the time of day, and the care you need. read more

I'm a pharmacist and have high expectations of my provider. I'm glad I found Dr Shah and Kayla for our healthcare needs. They're attentive, and take a focused approach on addressing either chronic conditions or acute illnesses. The office staff is helpful and always courteous. As to the location, it's right along the 101, so it's easy to get to. Hours meet my work schedule, and there is a walk-in lab on site for various tests. I highly recommend Primacare in Tempe and look forward to continuing my health care with them. read more

I haven't been to a primary care physician in quite awhile... I usually am not a fan of going to the doctor! But I found Primacare via yelp and thought I'd give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and quick it was to get an appointment. Upon arriving, paperwork only took a few minutes and I was seen almost immediately after. Dr. Shah was fantastic. Incredibly personable, listened attentively to my questions and concerns, and addressed each item I came in about. He seems to genuinely care about not only precision of care, but quality and the need to feel comfortable in the office (especially since I'm always a little nervous about doctors visits). I was originally drawn to this clinic because of the high reviews on yelp and Google, but I will certainly be staying with the practice because of the incredible care I received while in the clinic. My husband and I are new to the area and really procrastinated finding a new healthcare provider out here. It's almost been a year and we finally made the decision to do something about it. It was SEAMLESS trying to make an appointment. The receptionist I spoke to when scheduling, Andrina, was so pleasant! She was informative, patient with me, and flexible. When we walked in, we were greeted with kindness and energy and only waited 15 minutes before being brought back. During that time we finished paperwork, took our new patient photos, and scanned our insurance cards. So it wasn't like we were just waiting and doing nothing. Our MA, Josie, was personable, made good eye-contact, was upbeat, informative, AND quick. She was honest about the doctor coming in "soon". We again only waited 15 minutes for him from the time she left. Dr. Shah came in with INCREDIBLE energy! He took the time to get to know us first, and was extremely personable. He listened to our concerns-REALLY LISTENED-and provided wonderful education. We walked out with a completely clear understanding of the plan, including how it would work with our insurance. We love him! The staff here really takes a holistic approach - which, being in the medical profession myself, shocked me - because I didn't expect an MD to be so holistic, yet he was! And so are his NP and PA who we also met and who are super! All around great experience! You'll feel safe, respected, and well taken care of here! You're definitely in good hands! I started with PrimaCare because I was looking to establish a relationship with a PCP. I'm glad I chose them. Both medical providers (Dr. Shah and Kayla the P.A.) are attentive and willing to answer questions. I never feel rushed, and the office staff is fast and helpful. They focus heavily on preventative care, which is great for a young guy like me. They also aren't afraid of trying hippy-dippy things like supplements and hormone therapy, which is nice to have in addition to the traditional allopathic treatment. Today I had my yearly physical with Kayla Shelley, PA. I've been coming to this practice for over 2 years and I've been more and more impressed with each visit. I've had reasons to visit for minor ailments and major issues, each one handled with professionalism and caring. She listens to you, hears what you're saying and always gives great medical advice. This is THE BEST practice I have had in decades!! First, really nice people answer the phone! They are trained and encouraged to answer my questions and make an appointment. Second, if I need lab work, I come in without an appointment, and another group of competent people are there to do the job. Third, when I come for my appointment, I wait for at most five minutes. Then I get to see Kayla! She asks how I'm doing and she listens. She does an examination and we have a discussion. If she thinks there needs to be some sort of follow up or other testing she immediately puts in the orders. Last their customer service is fabulous. Kayla even called me at 8:00 p m on Thanksgiving Eve to tell me I had Covid. She waited for all of the lab tests for everyone to come in and called all of those patients with their results.
