Biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and biscuits

Food was good overall, very flavorful. I think portion size were perfect for me as I was full afterwards. The service felt a bit rushed but I think that's just on us because we came when they were about to switch over to dinner (we went on the weekend for their brunch menu). Overall really cute place to grab brunch with friends, partner or family. The only thing is that it's a bit expensive for what it is.

Basque cheesecake with orange gelato and caramel sauce

This is my second time here. I stumbled across it a few years back looking for gluten free food and came across this little place. I had the gluten free fish and chips last time and decided I want to come back here again for the fish and chips. I came in on a Sunday rainy evening and there were a lot of empty tables and was seated right away. The owner got my order for fish and chips. When it came out it was nice and hot. The fish was well cooked and crunchy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips were fresh and on the side was ketchup, tartar sauce and the tiniest thing of coleslaw I ever seen. It was all good but my only thing is I would love a little more coleslaw but I can't complain. Afterwards, I ordered basque cheesecake for dessert. It came with a small scoop of gelato and a caramel sauce. It was outstanding and enjoyed every bite. Definitely will come back for the fish and chips since it's gluten free.

Local art Puget Sound or Jackson Style??

First off the Virginia Inn is one of a handful of restaurants that has a significant GF menu. While not totally gluten free they have a lot of options and a dedicated fryer for GF choices which is rare. So they get star for that right away! On to the regular program, the service was solid. This is a small restaurant with a small staff that was working a fair number of tables so expect a wait if it's busy but in general the wait staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was good all around, I went for the fish and chips which was GF along with the calamari. My daughter hasn't had calamari for three years since being diagnosed with celiac disease. So that was a treat! Flavor and taste was good, a little different if you're use to flour based breading but still good. Hand cut fries were tasty as well and a little kick in the coleslaw! The cioppino was also a hit as well, good tomato broth and a full bowl of shell fish. General ambiance was a small old world slice with modern art all around. The Virginia Inn is known for its local art support and it's fun to see all around. Pricing is a bit high IMO but is definitely the Seattle trend these days. Averaged $32 per person so not terrible but on the higher side for lunch. All in all a good meal and a pleasant lunch with the family, I would recommend eating here if you're close by Pikes Place and looking for GF options.

Came here with friends as it was in the area and we were ready for some breakfast. Was seated and given waters. Our drink orders were taken along with food. I got the Shrimp and Grits. It comes with a couple pieces of toasted bread. I had to dump hot sauce on it to even add a sense of flavor. The shrimp was plump, but the sauce with the vegetables and andouille sausage bits was just lacking. The service also felt a bit off. Granted, there were 5 of us, but we asked for the check to be split evenly. It felt like we were hassling the waitress. Food is mediocre across what we ordered. Go to the biscuit establishment a few steps away perhaps.

Came to the VI on a Friday night and had dinner at the bar. The chowder and Brussel sprouts were probably my two favorite. The gumbo was decent and spicy and the fish and chips were what you'd expect. The location and vibe were the best part.

White Burgundy, brussel sprouts, and the best view in Seattle.

Great service, great view, great food. Literally, the best view in Seattle. Brussel sprouts, fries, salmon dip, salmon sandwich are my go-tos.

    Lamb Ragu

It was a chilly windy day in Seattle, and a cup of Early Grey tea and a hearty meal of the Lamb Ragu was the best. The Tagliatelli pasta, rich sauce and lovely seasoned sauce on the Lamb Ragu - well...it was delightful and I finished every bit of it. Lovely little view seat by the front window was perfect for people watching and the waiter was kind and welcoming. I'd go back, for sure! Next time, I'll try to save room for the carrot cake!

Lunch at Seattle's Historic Pike Place Market [Seattle WA] We stopped by VI for lunch. Inside has that historic and nostalgic ambiance including a full bar stocked with beer, wine, and cocktails. We waited to be seated which wasn't terribly long. We were seated by the window. We browsed through the menu and decided on the Steak & Eggs (for me) and Corned Beef Hash for the hubby. The meat was an 8-oz flatiron steak cooked medium, it was flavorful but not as tender as I would like. The home fries was good. Friendly and nice customer service. They have indoor and outdoor seating. VI is located on the corner of Virginia Street at First Avenue in Seattle, right next to the historic Pike Place Market and the only restaurant I know that close early for Super Bowl Sunday. Virginia Inn was a filming location for the movie Singles (1992). Review #3613

The diner feels so cozy and homey - old photos of the owner and customers and magnets his guests left are a nice touch. Friendly and attentive service despite the busyness.

You order at the front before being seated which means food arrives shortly after sitting down. With that noted, I wouldn't return to wait that long. First visit, to try a relatively famous spot, sure. Inside is a bit tight, but conversation can be had. My friends got the lumpia-silog and bistek-silog. Lumpia was tasty, but not particularly outstanding. Bistek was dry. The beef was tough to chew, seasoned alright on the outside but likely overcooked if not old. I opted for the oxtail silog which was delicious but pricey. Oxtail Silog - for $29, this plate definitely gets a double take. After waiting in the hour line, I figured I should commit for a tasty meal. Oxtail comes in a side bowl alongside a bit of hearty broth which the rice absorbs well. Meat is tender, falls off the bone, but pulling around oxtail bones isn't the simplest, so definitely have to bite around crevices. All in all, this plate was delicious but think it comes with a huge tourist tax I've had better value for oxtail plates. Ube Pancake Stack - four sizeable pancakes. Some pictures, including my own, don't do these justice. I can definitely get behind the hype. They're drenched in a rich ube sauce and there's plenty to go around. Honestly the ube flavor is present on the pancakes, but it feels relatively faint because the sauce is extremely sweet and flavorful, minimizing the pancake taste and expanding the gap between flavors. That being said, I think I would enjoy the pancakes with less sauce (or preferably, on the side).

All the…read moreoutdoor tables were full when we arrived at 6, so we put our name on the list for inside and waited about 30 minutes. The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

You know it's good when you pull up the establishment and they have not only a long line, but also a paper dictating what is sold out, which they update on a 10-15 minute interval. Waiting in line is the most time consuming part of this experience, as we probably waited 20-30 minutes to get to the front to place our order - which is good sign! You can definitely formulate what meats and sides you want as you get closer to the front. Parking for the restaurant is a bit difficult, I think the only options we found while visiting was streetside, and we were fortunate to find a spot only a block away. I could totally see it being impossible to find parking when it gets really busy in the area. Once you get your food, there is plenty of seating, from high tops, to booths, to tables, to outdoor seating with a fire pit. We got a good variety of items, which I'll review a couple down below: Brisket: A good brisket with a nice visible smoke ring. Similar to the pork belly, you can tell the skill of a barbecue restaurant from how their brisket is, and this brisket is delicious! Really meaty and pleasant smoke flavor. I think we did get a leaner cut of brisket as there wasn't as much fat to help with the leanness. Beef Cheek: A delicious cut of meat that melts in the mouth, and has a pleasant smokey flavor. Out of the three cuts of meat, this one was unfortunately salted the heaviest. The first couple of bites are delicious and really delicious, but it goes really overwhelming the more you eat it. If you order this, definitely get some sides to help. Pomegrante Pork Belly: A solid BBQ pork belly that has a pleasing fatty crust with a meaty interior. This is what I would consider a good baseline for a reputable barbecue restaurant. It is advertised as pomegrante pork belly, but I unfortunately wasn't able to taste any flavor of pomengrate - maybe a tiny bit in the glaze/bark but that could just be attributed to the sugar. Mac and Cheese: A pretty comforting side! bechamel sauce is really creamy and fully coats each noodle. The noodles were at the sweet spot of soft and having enough integrity to hold their shape. Cherry and Rhubarb Cobbler: Wow, this is an amazing dessert! I haven't had a cobbler where they added cardamom to the crust before, and I think it works spectacularly. The cardamom gives a nice floral taste to the crust, which is complemented by the tart and fruity filling. I think this is one of the better if not best desserts I've had a barbecue shop, and the small tweaks made were creative and delicious! In the end, I think we paid about $100 for everything you see here. Having been to a couple of BBQ places, I would say that it is pretty standard pricing. Good BBQ does take a lot of effort and it does come at a premium. Outsider BBQ is absolutely delicious - if you are looking to get some comforting food, they definitely have you covered. I would totally revisit to try their items that got sold out (missed the beef cheeks, need to try those!) the time we visited!
