Food was good overall, very flavorful. I think portion size were perfect for me as I was full afterwards. The service felt a bit rushed but I think that's just on us because we came when they were about to switch over to dinner (we went on the weekend for their brunch menu). Walked by on a cold Tuesday night. I didn't have high hopes that there would be vegetarian options because none was listed on their website. So glad I checked the menu posted on their window anyway and saw TWO vegetarian entrees! We were seated at a booth quickly. The restaurant was super cute with wooden benches, wicker chairs, brick walls, and tiled floor. Service was friendly and prompt. We ordered the Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle and the Vegan Blackened Tofu. Before I could ask for pepper flakes or fresh ground pepper for the pasta, I noticed a tiny kick! I'm weak so that was just the perfect amount of spicy for me. The tofu was perfectly cooked with little tomatoes, brussel sprouts, and asparagus tips in delicious pesto sauce. This is my second time here. I stumbled across it a few years back looking for gluten free food and came across this little place. I had the gluten free fish and chips last time and decided I want to come back here again for the fish and chips. I came in on a Sunday rainy evening and there were a lot of empty tables and was seated right away. The owner got my order for fish and chips. When it came out it was nice and hot. The fish was well cooked and crunchy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips were fresh and on the side was ketchup, tartar sauce and the tiniest thing of coleslaw I ever seen. It was all good but my only thing is I would love a little more coleslaw but I can't complain. Afterwards, I ordered basque cheesecake for dessert. It came with a small scoop of gelato and a caramel sauce. It was outstanding and enjoyed every bite. Definitely will come back for the fish and chips since it's gluten free. read more

First off the Virginia Inn is one of a handful of restaurants that has a significant GF menu. While not totally gluten free they have a lot of options and a dedicated fryer for GF choices which is rare. So they get star for that right away! On to the regular program, the service was solid. This is a small restaurant with a small staff that was working a fair number of tables so expect a wait if it's busy but in general the wait staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was good all around, I went for the fish and chips which was GF along with the calamari. My daughter hasn't had calamari for three years since being diagnosed with celiac disease. So that was a treat! Flavor and taste was good, a little different if you're use to flour based breading but still good. Hand cut fries were tasty as well and a little kick in the coleslaw! The cioppino was also a hit as well, good tomato broth and a full bowl of shell fish. General ambiance was a small old world slice with modern art all around. The Virginia Inn is known for its local art support and it's fun to see all around. Pricing is a bit high IMO but is definitely the Seattle trend these days. Averaged $32 per person so not terrible but on the higher side for lunch. All in all a good meal and a pleasant lunch with the family, I would recommend eating here if you're close by Pikes Place and looking for GF options. read more

The beet and arugula salad with blackened tofu (My protein choice) was absolutely delicious. My server was lovely and attentive.

Came here with friends as it was in the area and we were ready for some breakfast. Was seated and given waters. Our drink orders were taken along with food. I got the Shrimp and Grits. It comes with a couple pieces of toasted bread. I had to dump hot sauce on it to even add a sense of flavor. The shrimp was plump, but the sauce with the vegetables and andouille sausage bits was just lacking. The service also felt a bit off. Granted, there were 5 of us, but we asked for the check to be split evenly. It felt like we were hassling the waitress. Food is mediocre across what we ordered. Go to the biscuit establishment a few steps away perhaps. read more

The atmosphere is welcoming, and we were able to be seated at 7:00 pm on a Friday night without a reservation. The menu is limited, but good. We had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken (tasty, including fresh anchovies) and the scallop special (yum). The accompanying white burgundy was fine. After the main meal, we ordered a slice of cheesecake. Yet 25 minutes later, it hadn't arrived, nor had the server stopped by to check on us.I I then assertively flagged down the server and asked for our check, minus the cheesecake. She mumbled an apology, but barely, and didn't seem aware that we'd waited so long for it. I shouldn't have left a tip (it really wasn't deserved), but I reluctantly did. They weren't that busy, but our server had spent considerable time greeting a friend who arrived, talking to him, and then wishing him farewell - and in the process got behind on paying attention to her tables. In short, the service which was slow originally (for the wine and then the food), was then abysmal when it came to the dessert. And then flippant "sorry" (she didn't seem particularly concerned) and no compensation (comping something) for missing the dessert and the extended wait time. She was oblivious. It was a chilly windy day in Seattle, and a cup of Early Grey tea and a hearty meal of the Lamb Ragu was the best. The Tagliatelli pasta, rich sauce and lovely seasoned sauce on the Lamb Ragu - well...it was delightful and I finished every bit of it. Lovely little view seat by the front window was perfect for people watching and the waiter was kind and welcoming. I'd go back, for sure! Lunch at Seattle's Historic Pike Place Market [Seattle WA] We stopped by VI for lunch. Inside has that historic and nostalgic ambiance including a full bar stocked with beer, wine, and cocktails. We waited to be seated which wasn't terribly long. We were seated by the window. We browsed through the menu and decided on the Steak & Eggs (for me) and Corned Beef Hash for the hubby. The meat was an 8-oz flatiron steak cooked medium, it was flavorful but not as tender as I would like. The home fries was good. Friendly and nice customer service. They have indoor and outdoor seating. VI is located on the corner of Virginia Street at First Avenue in Seattle, right next to the historic Pike Place Market and the only restaurant I know that close early for Super Bowl Sunday. My husband and I are visiting Seattle for work and were looking for seafood that was delicious but still casual. We stumbled across this wonderful gem, and it exceeded every expectation. The atmosphere was relaxing, the cocktails were excellent, and the smoked salmon and crab cakes were fantastic. We also had the sweetest server--I wish I had caught her name. Stopped in here for lunch on a weekday. This is a solid lunch spot. MB3 had the veggie sandwich with chips and I had the fish & chips with house tartar. Service was great and the food was delicious! We arrived as they were opening at 11:30 am. We were seated at the corner window, which was intimate and great for people watching. I went with fish and chips at lunch time since I'd had that on my mind. Must say I wasn't disappointed as the fish and fries were cooked to perfection. Virginia Inn was hopping as I was not alone in paying respects. The ambiance was great, not an empty seat in the house while I was there. What a great menu this place has! I was visiting my sister in the city this weekend, and she suggested we try this place with all its gluten-free options. We passed by around 4 planning to walk the market and easily made reservations at the door for 530. It's a cute little restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and plants climbing everywhere! Our server was so friendly and very thorough in making sure our orders came out perfectly. We shared a couple of orders of beautiful golden fried calamari, then my sister had the pork belly as her main, and I indulged in the gf fish and chips! It was all amazing! I didn't ask if they had gf pasta, but my bro-in-law had the lamb ragu and said it was perfect. With so many gf options, I couldn't resist ordering the clam chowder and carrot cake to go! A wonderful location, it's been our weekly brunch spot for years. The food is excellent, and reasonably priced for the quality, there are a wide variety drinks, and the rotating specials are fantastic. Ownership was also recently transferred to the 4 most senior employees. Everyone here is pleasant, and really cares about this place, the food they serve, and the customers. On a nice the day, the outdoor seating provides great ambiance, as it's right above the pike place market. The Virginia Inn itself actually predates the foundation of the market so it's got a real sense of history. 10/10 I plan to be a regular here for years to come read more

Amazing food and a gluten free dream come true!! I found Virginia Inn on a gluten free app while visiting from out of town and I'm so happy to have tried this restaurant! We were seated immediately on a Friday at lunchtime at a table on their patio. It's an excellent spot for people watching. Most of their menu is either gluten free or can be made gluten free. We tried the calamari, which was hot, crispy and delicious! The pickled onions and jalapeños paired perfectly with it along with fresh lemon aioli. A true treat for someone who hasn't ate calamari in over a decade. For our mains, we tried the gumbo and salmon and clam chowder. The chowder was a 10 out of 10 for us. Creamy, warm and had a nice amount of seafood and vegetables. The herbs and seasoning were a great match in flavors. The gumbo was great too, the flavor was on point with nicely balanced flavors and a scoop of rice to balance out the savory flavors. The service was quick and everyone was friendly. I chose VI primarily because of the gluten-free options for a celiac colleague and very glad she could enjoy so many things off the menu. Had trouble when calling to make a reservation for 7 people for our team dinner but I left a voicemail and then sent a message through Yelp because I figured I'd rather have a written confirmation thread. Karl messaged me back very promptly and first thing he asked was if we had dietary restrictions! A+ for not needing a credit card for the reservation and just trusting that we would show up (and we did!) like a restaurant should. Samantha was an amazing, friendly, and attentive server who made notes of allergies per diner's order, which is super important to us so very much appreciated, especially triple-checking the nut type (walnuts) on the carrot cake for our one team member. We have an office spreadsheet of dietary restrictions! Samantha also took the best photos and has really pretty eye makeup. Karl and Samantha also took care of the window(s) at the back, opening and closing the blinds so we weren't blinded/sweltering and then in the dark. I actually liked that spot. It was perfect for noise level and on my side of the table, I didn't have anyone walking behind me. Only drawback to that spot was that people were walking past on the other side of the table to get to the bathrooms. Side note - the guy in the black t-shirt who was helping at the table was great too. Very on the ball. Food was pretty good! My colleagues seemed to enjoy their dishes - our core team finished every last scrap on our plates - we're particular about that. We ordered 3 small plate appetizers (calamari, olives and curry cauliflower); mains for everyone; and dessert for five of us. We were cognizant of the closing time and left at about 8:05 pm but nobody rushed us out and we'd actually arrived at 5. The front windows were open but minimal bugs so that was great for airflow and for feeling safe with germs about. My only notes are that the gumbo needs more rice to accompany it (though my colleague who asked for more was quickly granted their wish) and that the one women's washroom stall toilet makes weird repeated flushes and was *not the cleanest.* The garbage was also really full and needed to be emptied so maybe that should be a 6 pm kind of task on the regular. All in all, very happy with my choice and would highly recommend. There's definitely something for everybody and the service was wonderful from reservation to departure. read more

Came here with my boyfriend and his family for a late Sunday lunch and we had a decent time. I got the fish and chips and a strawberry Italian cream soda. The fish was super tasty and crispy. The fries were fine, could have been fried a little longer and seasoned a little more but that might just be my personal preference. The strawberry cream soda was a little too sweet, less syrup would have tasted more balanced. My boyfriend got a bloody mary and the cheeseburger. The bloody mary was alright, it tasted like a bloody mary but wasn't anything special. The cheeseburger was really flavorful, but we asked for it medium rare and it came out closer to a medium or medium well. Overall, this place is alright. The food and the service are fine but the prices feel like a tourist trap. Lots of glutenfree options and good fries! Stopped here after having a few hours to kill in Seattle. Found it by searching for gluten free fish and chips. Turns out, their whole fryer is GF so they also have fries. I have to say the fries were the highlight of the meal - they are the perfect thickness and good seasoning. Chose this spot as somewhere close to the Moore theater for dinner before a show and so happy we did. We made reservations for 5:30 on a Saturday night but they had plenty of room when we arrived. Asked if we were just doing drinks or wanted dinner so they are good with people taking up tables just for drinks. Nice open space with exposed brick walls and nice character. Doesn't feel like you are in downtown Seattle. Host and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Companion had the chowder and scallops and I had the Cesar and VI cheeseburger. We were both offered smaller sizes for our starters although they were not listed on the menu as two sizes but we gladly took that offer.
