Pizza

Pizza tastes very nice. Bread crispy , cheese just right amount. Sauce fresh. Also doesn't take long to make just a few min. Price was around 3.75 a slice. Been here several times and good every time.

"Upsideside Down Sicilian" - Mozz under the sauce

Fantastic upside down Sicilian! I'm a sucker for a great Sicilian slice and they make a great one here. Go for the upside down which is mozzarella cheese underneath with sauce on top. The slices are a little hefty and layered with a slightly sweet sauce. The price per slice is a little hefty as well so grab some friend and split a whole pie for an economical balance. Save the leftovers for another day. The ambiance is old school pizza parlor which isn't much. The wait can be a little long for whole pies so order ahead to manage your wait. Extra pluses for their allegiance to the Mets on the side of the building! LGM for next year!

VIPizza is an amazing local pizza joint on Bell Blvd. Their slices are always fresh and crispy on the bottom, just how I like it. I'm a big fan of their margarita slice but I'm also pretty pleased with their plain cheese slice as well. On my last visit, we tried their hot honey pepperoni and buffalo chicken slices, which were also very good. VIPizza is definitely my go-to pizza spot whenever I have my cravings and I would highly recommend it.

Cheese slice

Super underrated pizza spot in northern queens. A quintessential NYC slice in my opinion! Definitely go for just the plain slice, it's almost perfect I don't know what they could do to improve it to be honest. Service is quick and easy and gives a very old school pizza join vibe!

Sicilian and upside down slices

As promised, I came back for the Sicilian and upside down slices. Unfortunately, it was not worth the trip back. Luckily, I only came here because my friend needed to use the bathroom and so we killed two birds with one stone. God thing because, as I said, I would have been ticked off of I had made a trip just for these slices. The cheese and sauce on the Sicilian strangely reminded me of Ellio's frozen pizza, which was nostalgic but not what I expect from highly rated pizza. The look of the upside down slice reminded me of Spumoni Gardens in Brooklyn but that is where all similarities end. The sauce at SG is sweeter than most whereas this slice, despite the onions (I think) is pretty generic. At least their bathroom was fully functional, which is why I have 3 stars.

A nice nostalgia feel about the Pizzeria I was in this evening. I have tasted a lot of Sicilian pizza but nothing like this. Call them "RAGU" because it is definitely in the sauce and it was delicious. Nice amount of seating on a cold night. The pizza hit the spot, and it was darn good. His and hers bathroom on the premises. Parking is FREE after 7pm. So feed the meters if you get there earlier. After Pizza I then went to Martha's Bakery for cake and coffee near the Long Island Railroad. I actually wrote a review on that spot. The Review Guru* Long Island NY

Came in to try some slices because VIPizza is a Queens institution. The regular slice was disappointing - really nothing special at all. Don't get me wrong - not bad pizza - just nothing worth raving about. The Sicilian slice, though, that they're known for, was excellent. Great crust, wonderful sauce to cheese ratio, and one of the better Sicilians I've had. The upside down just wasn't to my taste, but my friend really enjoyed it. The garlic knots had hands down the best sauce I've ever had on a knot - but the knots themselves were stale which took away from the experience and how top tier they could have been. All in all, a good pizza place - but still to some version of the Sicilian.

Two slice and a spicy beef patty

I first heard about this place through one bite and was excited to try it. The texture was great; crispy, no flop. Unfortunately, it barely had flavor. I had to add garlic powder to give it taste. I wasn't sure if the lack of flavor was due to the tomato sauce or the cheese or both. I might come back if I was in the area since I like the crisp and the crust.

I liked the pepperoni pizza

awesome sauce. thanks for the pepperoni pizza. it was tasty. they're also so nice and the tables and seats are clean too! they work so hard

Margherita slices
Bryan L.

This review is based off of a quick, random stop for some pizza. My friend and I happened to park next to VIPizza as we waited to go out with more friends. Wanting to grab a quick bite, we decided to get a slice each. We both ordered the margherita slice and only needed to wait a few minutes for them to heat it up. This place was packed when I came in, so I was glad that we got takeout. With no expectations at all, I was shocked at how incredible the pizza was, especially the crust. The crust was thin and crispy with the perfect amount of chew. I was so impressed and saddened that I didn't get another slice. Now that this place is on my radar, I can't wait to go back and try more slices!

This is, by far, the worst service I have ever experienced…read more I was really pulling for this place. I wanted it to succeed. I told everyone about it, that it was some of the best pizza in New York. I gave them so many chances. Last night was the final straw. Made a reservation for Friday night at 8PM. We arrived at 8:05. The waitress who's basically always there, who sounds like she smokes about a pack a day, was the only waitress there that night. I felt for her, but also, not my problem. We didn't receive water or a full set of utensils and menu until about 8:15. At about 8:25, she took our order, and we ordered a few apps and calzone and pizza. I had to ask for my coke about 4 times until she remembered to bring it. Water was NEVER refilled. We were never asked if we were ok. Around 8:50, we finally received our apps. It was ok, they've made it better in the past. Ambiance was starting to die down as the restaurant was clearing out. We felt a bit bad for her, but also, this wasn't our fault, that they were unprepared for a Friday night rush (her words). By 9:15, we were furious and our moods were ruined. We sat down at 8:05, ordered before 8:30, we were the only ones left and our pizza and calzone were yet to be found. Shortly before 9:30, it arrived. And again, it was pretty good, but not wait over an hour for it good. I wanted this place to succeed. The pizza maker from Italy deserves a better crew. The waitress doesn't know how to be a waitress, at all. No apologies, not taking anything off the check, not checking on us. There's no busboy, no one dedicated to take out, no manager. It seems that everyone plays each others roles, and quite poorly. They've lost a loyal customer tonight. We will NEVER give this place another try.

What started out as a snafu, turned into a lovely afternoon…read more We arrived for our reservation for 15 people on a snowy afternoon to find only 1 person working and no record of our reservation. Alessandro was wonderful and worked so hard to accommodate us all by himself. We decided to keep it simple and order a bunch of pizzas to share as well as a family style salad. Pizza was served one type at a time, it felt like a pizza tasting menu and I loved every second of it. We started off the the Margherita, which was simple and delicious. His dough is perfectly springy and light, but also has great flavor as does the sauce. Prosciutto Pie included mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto and shaved Parmigiano cheese. Another delicious version, you can feel the high quality of the ingredients with this one. Salsiccia Pie used a spicy soppressata, tomato sauce and mozzarella. It's hard to believe but each "course" seemed to be better than the last. Svetonio Pie has meatballs, tomato sauce, ricotta, crispy pancetta, kalamata olives and basil. This was the most complex pie in terms of flavors, but they all worked so well together. The Arugula Salad with cherry tomato red onion, mozzarella cubes was the perfect acidic accompaniment to the pizzas. The restaurant itself is small and rustic, but it felt so homey and made for a perfect spot for our little celebration. Everyone agreed the pizza was excellent all around. I can't wait to return to try more of the menu.

**Toskana Pizzeria -- grandma pie excellence, plus legit Neapolitan and Sicilian**…read more Toskana Pizzeria is one of the few neighborhood spots that can pull off *multiple* pizza styles without any of them feeling like an afterthought. If you're the type who actually notices crust structure, bake quality, and balance--not just "is there cheese on it?"--this place earns the five stars. **Grandma pie (the headline act):** This is the standard. The crust has real integrity--crisp edges, that satisfying caramelized corner bite, and a base that stays structured instead of collapsing into a soggy regret. The sauce tastes clean and well-seasoned (not overly sweet), and the cheese-to-sauce ratio is dialed in so each layer is doing its job. **Thin-crust Neapolitan:** Excellent bake and flavor. You get that lighter, more delicate feel with a proper chew, and the toppings don't overwhelm the dough. It's the kind of pizza that tastes "simple" in the good way--because the fundamentals are right. **Sicilian:** A lot of places treat Sicilian like a dense bread block with toppings. Not here. Their Sicilian is actually well-made--airy enough to enjoy, sturdy enough to satisfy, and baked so it has texture instead of being a soft slab. The common thread is consistency: everything feels deliberate, properly baked, and balanced. If you live in the area and you're not ordering from Toskana, you're basically choosing to make your life harder for no reason. Five stars.

Toskana is really close by and after seeing Dave Portnoy's review, I decided to check it out…read more Plain slice: Really solid. Nice cheese pull, good balance of sauce, and probably my favorite of the bunch. It held up well, not floppy at all, with a slight crisp on the bottom. BIG FAN! Chicken broccoli: Just OK. I've had better. The chicken was slightly burnt, which was disappointing. Grandma spinach & artichoke: Pretty good overall. It's similar in style to Artichoke Basille's Pizza, but not as rich or creamy. Margherita: Underwhelming. Nothing really stood out and I've definitely had better elsewhere. That said, I'd still go back just for the plain slice. You really can't go wrong with it. It's a thumbs up for me!

My sister had the rigatoni, my mom had the salmon, and I had the short rib of beef, which melted in my mouth like butter -- that's how tender the meat was. For dessert, I had the cannoli's while my mom and sister enjoyed the chocolate lava cake. Everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared. Our server was very pleasant and happened to be the only one working at the time, though with so few guests, it seemed to be all that was needed. We ordered the three-course lunch special. One set included the meatballs to start, followed by the chicken Parmesan and bomboloni for dessert. The other included a Caesar salad, tagliatelle Bolognese, and tiramisu. There was a bit of a longer-than-expected gap between the appetizer and the entrée, especially considering we were essentially the only table being served, as the other guests had already finished their meal. That was a little frustrating. Aside from that, most of the food was solid. The only real disappointment was the chicken Parmesan, which was quite overcooked. It was unfortunate given that the kitchen was only cooking for the two of us. That said, the mashed potatoes, an unusual pairing with chicken Parmesan were excellent: perfectly creamy and incredibly smooth. The tiramisu was also quite good, but the real standout was the bomboloni. I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed them, since fried doughnuts wouldn't normally be my first choice for dessert. I would definitely return.

Staff greeting and welcoming you with a warm smile when you walked in. Ordered at the counter, would take 10-15 min to make the sandwich. Ambiance wise = Love the hipster comic-styled wallpaper. Super genuine staff and great service as well. Can pay with cash or card, but there's a small service fee being charged for card. Besides getting the Angry Nonna Sandwich ($15.50), also ordered the regular fries that came with spicy mayo ($6.53) + a Krave It pineapple pop soda ($3.96) to wash everything down. Staff brought everything to the table even though it was only self serve. 1) Angry Nonna Sandwich: The mildly spicy sauce was delicious and savory. Chicken parm was seasoned well and not salty. Bread could've been a little more crunchy imo. Portion size was plentiful and definitely enough for a full meal. 2) Regular Hand Cut Fries: So many widely-cut fries and more fries than I'd imagined for a single order. Worth it! Size wise was like those halal rice platter in aluminum foil container. I got full midway but still finished the whole thing. Fries were definitely freshly prepared and made. Could've been just a little bit more crispier. Spicy mayo was the perfect sauce to dip the fries in. 3) Krave It Pineapple Soda: Refreshing to taste with the sandwich & fries. Don't need a bottle opener to pop off the sodas. Just need to twist it off yourself. Easily done! Their sodas are made of cane sugar. The fizziness felt good against the back of my throat. I plan to keep going back whenever I'm in the area by myself or with friends. Would recommend this spot to other Yelpers, family and friends. They're opened to late hours everyday.
