Vinh Hoa is one of our go to Chinese seafood place. They have tanks inside the restaurant so you know you can order live seafood including crabs, lobsters, prawns, clams, etc. The restaurant is a bit dated but, for us, it's all about the food. We ordered the Lobster with house special sauce. Lobster was delicious. While they do have a lobster special for 2 lobsters, they are a little more pricey compared to Confucius. We also ordered the razor clams with basil, fried sole fish and morning glory with garlic. The razor clams were sweet and spicy at the same time bec of the sauce. Can't get enough of the sauce! For the fried sole fish, you pour the soy sauce mixture on top. Compliments the fish. The bad thing is the tendency to eat more rice . The morning glory was good to make our meal a bit more balanced. Service is fast. It does not take long before food came out. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We had asked for more of the soy sauce mixture for the sole fish and changed plates couple of times. If you like seafood, they have a lot more variety compared to other restaurants. Aside from live Dungeness crab, they also have king crabs, abalone, spot prawns and assortment of fish. Definitely worth a try! They also offer Vietnamese dishes but been happy with the seafood and had been sticking to it. read more

Great family style portion foods. Service was quick. Felt very homelike inside for a restaurant I think it was the fish tank and TVs that set that vibe. They have a large selection of dishes to choose from. I got the spinach dish, honey shrimp, and salt and pepper shrimp. It also comes with a large bowl of rice on the side. read more

vinh hoa has been serving comforting viet and chinese food for decades. the service is super friendly and the food comes out incredibly fast. there are so many options for their lunch specials, all under $9, and the portions are bigger than your usual lunch deal. the salt and pepper shrimp was fried crispy without being greasy, the chicken and snow peas were light yet rich, and the beef and onions came with so much meat, all bathed in a super flavorful garlic sauce. overall, it's a reliable spot for a fast meal read more

Food wise I would give it a 4, but the place just looks run down and dirty. My favs for the lunch special are the fried rex sole, braised brisket, beef chong fun, royal chicken, fried eggs&shrimp. Enjoy the food, ok service. read more

My family has been coming here to eat for years. It is one of our favorite restaurants for large family gatherings. I loved walking in and seeing the huge tanks full of fish and crabs. The restaurant is big but wasn't too packed the night my family went. This time we got the Bo lúc lắc, walnut shrimp, squid, crispy duck, beef and broccoli pan fried noodles, caramelized fish, and seafood flat noodle. The Bo lúc lắc was perfectly tender and I am a fiend for those onions as well. I am always a sucker for walnut shrimp as well, the shrimp was so flavorful and had the perfect amount of batter and crisp. The squid was ok but I really loved the sauces up onions and black beans. The duck was average, love the pickled vegetables though. The beef and broccoli pan fried noodles were perfect, all the toppings were cooked perfectly. I didn't try the caramelized fish but my family loved it. Seafood flat noodles are a classic as well. The waiters made sure to grab empty dishes and refill water cups frequently. Overall a pretty solid spot in Chinatown. read more

This is me and my family's go to spot when we are in Houston. The service is quick and prompt! They speak Vietnamese and Chinese. The ambiance is like any hole in the wall Asian restaurant filled with fish tanks. The food is just SO good! Covers Vietnamese food so well and I'd like to say Chinese also (I'm vietnamese). Def love this place! read more

Service here is alright and food is very mediocre. Nothing really came out piping hot and most things could use a little more seasoning. The salt and pepper spare ribs which were a little too greasy and not salty enough. The beef flat rice noodle was standard but again just did not have enough seasoning. The bo luc lac was definitely the best dish we got and was probably the only thing that came out hot. The beef was tender and juicy. read more

Went to Clarewood area to dine on Christmas day, but the strip was closed. Went to Vinh Hoa across the street instead. Big mistake. Seated quickly but service was so slow. Soup (crab meat fish maw) shouldn't take long to come out even if it's busy. 45 minutes later, only water and rice on the table. Literally nibbled on rice to not starve lol. The waitress assured us that food was on the way. At one point, we asked if they could bring anything that was ready to the table. She went to go check the kitchen but we never got an update. We weren't going to wait at the 1 hour mark. Unfortunately had to go look for dinner elsewhere. I have suspicion that our food order was never put in or our food ticket might have been misplaced. Fresh seafood and delicious dishes! Our favorite is their eggplant, Manila clams In xo sauce, sup mang cua, fried tofu, muc rang muoi. Vinh Hoa - Dishes off of the lunch specials menu. - Chinese Near Me - Houston, Texas

We've been here so many times bcoz of fast service and food was good. Last Sunday we were here with a big group of about 25 ppl. The lady server was rude from the start but I let it go then after we were done eating. We found out she over charge us by gave us the wrong menu we ordered. She litterally upsale without confirming with us. We ordered the 10 people menu of $238 but got charged $258 bcoz she chose the wrong menu. When we asked for a manager she told us they don't have manager in house. I confronted her , she said she heard wrong and admitted that she gave us the wrong menu and apologized but surely she wasn't sincere of it. Last month we had used this facility for a birthday party of 30 people but they served for 40ppl so they charged us 10 extra. This is the 2nd time we got over charged on something we didn't order. So if you go here in a big group be extra careful. Oh then they automatically charged 20% gratuity but it wasn't listed on their menu. Sorry but Vinh Hoa sure loose my business after 2 consecutive misleading services. read more

My last visit was disappointing. Perhaps expectations were too high or the wrong menu items were chosen this time around. Either way, my last experience left me no desire to come back here ever again. My wife and I wanted to have dinner with my family somewhere traditional so we decided to give this place a chance. Since we had eight people all together, we decided to choose a pre-set menu of soup, crab, veggies, shrimp, chicken, and more. Price was $280 for all of this (or about $35 per person before tax and tip). The food came out one by one relatively quickly, but sadly nothing caught my eye. Portions were small and some of the dishes did not taste fresh. Even just by looking at the plates, I knew in my mind that the next one was going to be a disappointment. The food just simply wasn't that good. I wish the best for this place because it's sad to see old establishments fade away. Hopefully they improve. read more

Came here during last night for Chinese New Year eve around 5pm and I was satisfied by this establishment. I was told that Vinh Hoa is one of the better Restaurants in Chinatown area. I ordered 3 dishes, Razor clam in garlic sauce and basil, Beef black pepper on sizzling plate, and steamed Pork Belly w/ salted vegetables. Razor clam and pork belly were really really good, but the black pepper beef really disappoint me because it definitely looked good but tasted bland. They gave plenty of rice which is a plus point. Service and ambience was good. Price not too expensive either. Overall, i would definitely go back to try other dishes. Food 7.5/10 Service 7/10 Ambience 7/10 Price 7/10 read more

I've always wanted to try 永華海鲜酒家 Vinh Hoa Restaurant at Dynasty Plaza. But I was little shy. Because I don't speak Vietnamese and afraid I would order wrong food. Last night, my fear was gone after tried their food for the first time and we were happy. I finished an exhausting virtual event at work and had an extreme crave for some real Chinese food. I'm kind of tired of my own cooking after working from home for half year due to CoVid19 pandemic. I didn't want to go far. I know Dynasty Plaza has all my favorite restaurants at one location. I started with Le Lai. Yikes. The stopped selling at 7. Miam closed early too. China Gourmet already closed for the day. I was so glad to see Vinh Hoa opens till 11 pm on Friday. The staff was friendly and restaurant was nearly filled to 50% capacity. I noticed few employees speak fluent English, Chinese and Vietnamese. I ordered my food in mandarin and pointed the dish on the menu, just to be sure. I ordered takeout to feed hungry family. Everything smelled so good. Price was really reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. The beef with Chinese broccoli chow mein was very seasoned and not salty. Shrimp fried rice had lots of flavors. The most importantly, they used fresh steamed rice in the fried rice. Peking Ribs has lots of tender pork and little bones. Overall, we had a very satisfying dinner experience. One downside was the foam box couldn't withstand the heat. Top dish leaked to second dish and bottom box collapsed. I had to plate them when I got home. read more

Highly recommended by others, so gave it a try. Seated promptly by the security guard. Order also promptly taken. Food came out in a timely manner and service was attentive. We had the house special lobsters, snow pea leaves with garlic, salt and pepper calamari and scallops, and steamed tilapia. The lobsters were two for $34 or 35? Can't remember exactly how much but somewhere along that range. They were tossed in some sort of black pepper sauce. It was ok but probably should've stuck with the original ginger and scallion or salt and pepper version. The snow pea leaves and tilapia were bland. We still enjoyed the meal but I wish it was a little more flavorful from all the raves. read more

Overall, this place was pretty legit. One thing I really liked was the the portion sizes were HUGE. I generally order several dishes because I have a huge appetite, but as the various items were being brought out I quickly realized that I had ordered too much. My favorite was probably the buttered fried soft shell crabs, which were perfectly fried, crisp, and delicious. I also enjoyed the razor clams with basil & jalapeños. The crab & fish maw soup was mild, but tasty. The house special lobsters were just ok in my opinion, kinda chewy and lacking the "oomph" to put them over the top. I left fat and satisfied, and that's what counts. read more

A good lunch or dinner spot. Causal ambience, it's located a bit in the back of the Dynasty plaza. Usually pretty quick to get seated. The menu is easy to read with an abundant of choices. Some of my favorite items that I always have to get is the razor clamps and snow pea leaves. There is just something about sauce of the razor clamps that does it every time. Lots of flavors that goes really good when paired with white rice. Their lobster with garlic was also pretty good. Decent size and seasoned well. We came here with friends for dinner. It was their first time trying authentic Chinese cuisine, so we ordered dishes to expose them to new flavors. Here's a review of some of their dishes: - egg rolls: hot, good crunch on the outside, filling was savory and delicious, it was good, but not the best egg rolls we've eaten - stir fried vegetables: it was pretty good. It didn't have as much flavor from the heat of the wok as I'd like; but not bad for introducing others to Chinese cuisine - fried rice: pretty standard. It was ok. - fried crab legs: good. It was flavorful. Easy to eat. - lobster with ginger sauce and green onions (not pictured): this was good. It didn't have a pronounced flavor to it. I do prefer the lobster at Ocean Palace over this spot. - fried squid (also not pictured): my sis and my friend enjoyed the spicy jalapeños that came with this dish. The fried squid itself was pretty good. But, I prefer East Wall's version, since it's lighter and crispier. Overall, the food here is not too bad. What I didn't appreciate was that they already placed an 18% gratuity for our party of 6. I would like to choose what gratuity to offer in my bill. I think they start charging 18% gratuity for a party of 5. Just something to consider if you plan on trying out this restaurant. read more

Our family is no joke when it comes to eating Vietnamese food makes me smile just thinking of eating Vietnamese food :) Well my hubby and I visited the other night let me tell you how much we love Vietnamese food specifically this restaurant. We drive 4 hours to come dine at Vinh Hoa. Let's start w their bird nest w chicken the noodles are nice and crunchy yet soft in middle from sauciness yummm. I've eaten this dish many times but oh boy this dish was HUGE it is big enough to feed 3-4 people . Secondly the shrimp fried rice is so delicious and aromatic I can't eat enough of it !! Our last dish was a shrimp and egg so flavorful. If you mix it w the shrimp fried rice omg your food palate will be delighted ! All of this food was only $49 and we had plenty of left overs. read more

Love their daily lunch specials and how they prep their to-go orders. They double check your items and make sure everything is bagged. I was mad craving seafood and Vinh Hoa got it right. We ordered the Ginger and Scallion Lobster, Salt-Baked Squid, and Manila Clam Sauteed with Black Bean Sauce which have always been some of my top seafood favorites. And still are! The staff was a little confused when my little white family walked in. Looked at us like we was lost..lol. The waitress was even more confused when we didn't order something basic like fried rice. Kids ordered fish maw soup, some beef stir fry, and I ordered the big Dungeness crab with rice. She tried talking me out of the $70 crab and ya know.. it's completely understandable. The waitresses stood there in confusion and amazement watching as I dumped the sauce on top of big daddy crab and then popped the top off while stuffing the crab with rice. Nothing went to waste. That crab was delicious. The fish maw soup was tasty and so was the beef stir fry. Everything was great and definitely would go back. read more

Vinh Hoa is still my Go-To place for fresh and authentic Chinese seafood cuisine in a casual setting - either with business clients or family and friends for a seafood feast! This is a Chinese-Vietnamese seafood restaurant probably not much well-known outside the oriental community! It is frequented for family dinners especially during the weekends - usually packed during Saturday and Sunday dinner period! I actually seldom saw many Caucasians dining in this restaurant alone unless accompanied by their oriental friends. The serving staff are friendly and very efficient! The restaurant has many glassed fish tanks on display stocked with live fish, lobsters, shrimps, Geo-Duck clam, Dungeness crabs, Razor clams (seasonal), Abalone, soft shell crabs etc. All the seafood are cooked in a variety of Cantonese and Vietnamese cooking styles. The pricing of their seafood is also very reasonable for the quality of cuisine-dishes served when compared with other similar restaurants in Chinatown Houston. The restaurant has a small selection of alcoholic beverages, mostly beers but no high-end wines. I usually brought my own wines which they would charge a corking fee of $10/bottle. Here were a few of the great cuisine-dishes I have ordered over the years! read more
