I love a top tier gourmet breakfast sandwich, so this place was high on my list while I was back home in Boston for a few days. I was staying with my sister, who had never been here but had seen it featured on Phantom Gourmet. My TikTok research had also put this spot in the top two for breakfast sandwiches, and it was only the next town over, so we had to give it a try. We lucked out and found parking right in front, then headed inside. I was immediately intrigued by the Anadama English muffin because it reminded me of a brown bread I grew up with in Massachusetts. If you've had the brown bread at Cheesecake Factory, it's somewhat similar, but less sweet, less dark and more complex (an "adult" version if you will). They also had a rotating monthly special, a Portuguese English muffin, which was very tempting. In the end, we stuck to our original plan and ordered a breakfast sandwich on the Anadama muffin with egg, ham, and cheese. Whoa. This thing was rich, hearty, and absolutely delicious. It was one of those sandwiches that makes you stop talking for a minute and just appreciate what you're eating. Honestly, I almost wished I had a hangover because it would have been the ultimate cure. The Anadama muffin completely lived up to my expectations. If I lived nearby, I would absolutely buy a four pack once or twice a month and keep them in the freezer. A fantastic breakfast sandwich and well worth the trip. Sadly there are no bathrooms, which seems strange for a coffee shop, but luckily the general store next door is same owners and opened just as we were leaving and could not have been nicer about letting us use the facilities.

Quick service, always delicious fresh breakfast sandwiches on house made English muffins. We discovered Vinal on our trip to Boston last year and made a point to come back this year. I also tried the Iced honey vanilla latte with oat milk. Not as sweet as I was expecting it to be - which is perfect for me. I do wish there was a restroom or at least a hand washing station because the sandwich can get your hands sticky messy, especially with the pepper jelly in my Ham Jamboree sandwich.

If you think you know English muffins, Vinal Bakery will make you rethink everything. My daughter has been talking about this spot since she moved to MA and now I get why- this place turns two simple pieces of dough into a full-on WOW moment. I went with The GOAT combo with spicy pesto butter, creamy goat cheese and a perfectly medium-runny egg. Unreal. While my daughter went for a Beyond Meat sausage and cheddar sandwich. Even though I didn't try hers, we could both say every bite of our sandwiches was magical, rich and full of deliciousness. But the real, real, real show-stealer is Vinal's hot chocolate made with Valhrona chocolate chunks. The result is this silky, rich cup that honestly deserves way more hype than it gets. It's freaking comfort in a mug- especially for me as a non-coffee drinker. Vinal is airy, clean and has plenty of space to sit. Owners are fantastic, warm, welcoming and passionate about what they're serving in Somerville, MA.

I got the G.O.A.T. and chocolate chip cookie - TASTE: 4/5 - enjoyed the sandwich's goat cheese butter and pesto, plus the sweet cookie. Would come back to try their whole breakfast sandwich menu TEXTURE: 5/5 - the crisp, toasted English muffin and over medium egg were satisfying. I'm also a cookie snob lol, and wasn't expecting to like such a thin cookie, but it really delivered! Soft and chewy still PRICE: 5/5 - $7 sandwich and $2.50 cookie, I was shocked lol, a steal! SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - satisfied me for a light brunch, wish the sandwich was twice the size haha SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 11:30am on a Sunday and the space was packed! The employee at the counter was helpful, and my order was ready in 5min ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - small and tight space, so will be difficult for groups. Got a solo seat at the window counter PARKING: 4/5 - got street parking on Merriam St across the street

What a great bakery! Along a main street in a beautiful neighborhood, Vinal Bakery is cozy and always filled with neighbors. Staff are friendly and will gladly hand you one of their fresh pastries. Craving coffee, I ordered their honey vanilla latte. It was excellent! There are several tables near outlets.

Ordered pick up from Vinal bakery so my husband could get a Vinal general sandwich. And then follow up my English muffin sandwich with ice cream. Win win!

I had been dying to try this spot for the longest time, and I must say it DEFINITELY lives up to the hype! These english muffins are unreal, genuinely some of the best in the area, and frankly some of the best you might ever have. They're large without being heavy and they have a perfectly crispy exterior with a fluffy inside that stands up well and holds its own depth of flavor alongside the sandwich fillings. Although it's a little pricey, you're paying for a high quality and satisfying meal that's incredibly unique, so for that reason I cannot recommend this spot enough, even if you have to make a little trip to get there. The space is tight and a little crowded, making this a good to-go option, but the service is relatively quick and everything is made fresh, so if you can find a table there it's a nice friendly and energizing environment to be in. All in all, I will certainly be back to try their various sandwich combos and to continue being surprised and delighted by their seasonal menu offerings. I love this spot, and it's now certainly on my list of favs for a great breakfast sandwich!

One of the best Boston area bakeries I have come across. I particularly love their breakfast sandwiches (one of the very few places that can compete with Sunny Girl in my breakfast sandwich-loving heart). They offer a range of house made English muffins - including unique flavors like pumpernickel and French toast - that are perfectly soft and chewy - as well as excellent, fluffy biscuits. Their maple butter, which is an option with many of the sandwiches, takes everything up another notch by adding a touch of sweet to the savory/salty egg and cheese mix.

Vinal Bakery is the local king of breakfast sandwiches in my opinion. Their English muffins set the standard for all English muffins to follow. Food: The sausage, egg, and cheese was incredible. The salty sausage patty was perfect with the fluffy English muffin and the creamy egg and cheese. It was the complete package and it really filled me up. We also got some lattes that were great compliments to the great food. Service: Staff were kind and super fast with the order! Atmosphere: The dining space is on the smaller side but the simple colors and the wall decor helps to make it cozy for a quick sit down visit.

Many friends had recommended Vinal Bakery to me because I LOVE breakfast sandwiches and I finally made a visit which did not disappoint. The cafe itself is small but there's some seating inside and meter parking along the street. I ordered a coffee and a breakfast sandwiches that were both amazing!! - Cardamom Caramel Latte 10/10 - Ham Jamboree 10/10 I was so indecisive with the breakfast sandwiches so I will definitely be back to try more! I will say, the Ham Jamboree was the perfect combo of sweet and savory :) The Brie, ham, and red pepper jelly are a flawless combo!

One of the best English muffins and breakfast sandwiches ive ever had. The miss maple is such a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Would recommend adding sausage like I did for a protein element. The french toast English muffins are scrumptious. Minimal seating inside but service was actually so fast for a line out the door.

I had such a nice experience at Vinal! First off, service was great. You order at the counter and the woman who took my order was kind and patient with me when it took me a minute to decide what I wanted. All the employees seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. I came right at 8 on a Sunday and there was no line. It did get progressively busier the longer I stayed, but there were always at least a couple open seats. It seems most people order to go. The cafe has a very cozy, homey atmosphere. There's a community crossword, which I thought was a nice touch. I ordered the Sam I Am (sautéed greens, egg, dijonnaise) on a multigrain English muffin. It was delicious! The English muffin itself was crunchy on the outside but airy and soft inside. The dijonnaise added a lot of flavor to what could have been a bland sandwich. The only thing I didn't love was the drip coffee I ordered. Too bitter for my taste. That being said, I will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

So glad I tried this place! I ordered the Cardamom Caramel Latte and a the Meg's Meatloaf Sandwich. Both were great, a very yummy breakfast. It is a small space but there is some seating available. Service was great also. Will definitely be back for another breakfast/brunch!

This one didn't have a long line that I knew their North End location would certainly be marked by. On our first visit, we tried a plain cannoli to have a baseline of what to expect. We also tried a pistachio macaron. On the second visit, we tried a red velvet whoopie pie and a pistachio cannoli. The cannoli's are fire. The shell is thick, crispy and they hold up. They're stuffed with sweet creamy ricotta. It's a perfect pairing of soft cream and a hard shell. This location had a few bar seats available at the window and against the wall. There's a huge window of sweet treats on display. I definitely recommend visiting, try a cannoli and get something to go. They have everything from lobster tails to Boston cream pie. I think it would take someone with a lot of will power to come here and walk out without getting something.

Mike's Pastry in Cambridge brings the famous North End bakery experience to Harvard Square, making…read moreit easy to enjoy their iconic pastries without heading into downtown Boston. Located on Dunster Street, the shop is designed for efficiency, with a straightforward layout that keeps the line moving even during busy hours. There are a few counter seats inside, but it's primarily a grab-and-go destination where most people leave carrying one of the bakery's signature string-tied pastry boxes. The cannolis are the main reason to visit, and they certainly live up to their reputation in terms of size. The classic chocolate chip cannoli is generously filled from end to end with a rich, sweet ricotta cream, while the crisp shell provides just the right amount of crunch. If you're looking for something a little different, the Florentine cannoli is an excellent choice. Its honey-nut shell adds an extra layer of texture and a subtle caramelized flavor that pairs beautifully with the creamy filling. Beyond the cannolis, the bakery offers an impressive selection of Italian pastries, cookies, cakes, and other desserts. The lobster tails are another popular option, with flaky layers surrounding a rich cream filling, and the display cases are filled with enough variety to make it difficult to choose just one item. Prices are a bit higher than your average neighborhood bakery, but the portions are generous enough that many pastries can easily be shared. Service is quick and efficient, with staff focused on keeping the line moving throughout the day. Since seating is limited, it's worth taking your pastries to nearby Harvard Yard or the Charles River, where you can enjoy them at a more relaxed pace. Mike's Pastry may be best known for its North End flagship, but the Cambridge location delivers the same oversized cannolis and classic Italian desserts in a much more convenient setting. Whether you're craving the original chocolate chip cannoli or one of their many other pastries, it's an easy stop whenever you're spending time around Harvard Square.

I bought the banana cream for a work event and a few minis to take home for me and my hubby. The banana cream was good-admittedly, it was more on the sweeter side than I expected. I really enjoyed the crust - it wasn't too buttery and cooked perfectly. It was def a hit. My hubby and I enjoyed sampling the blueberry, apple, and cherry crumble. Of the three, the apple was my favorite which actually surprised me. The blueberry was OK, not as sweet as I would have liked - opposite of the banana cream.
