The service is excellent, the food is fantastic, and coffee is great. The attention to detail is noticeable on everything and you can tell this is a true labor of love. Anytime I have out of town guests, Vinal is on the agenda. For what it's worth, my usual is the Miss Maple with bacon on a multigrain or French toast English muffin (weekends). 10/10, no notes. read more

Really phenomenal breakfast sandwiches!! Their English muffins are so fresh and fluffy, unlike any English muffins I've had before. The American Classic sandwich with ham was the perfect pairing. There was ample egg and the cheese was perfectly melty goodness. They also have a great beverage menu. I tried coffee milk (a Rhode Island specialty) and it was great! It was sweet and delicious, like the coffee version of chocolate milk. Will definitely be returning again! Back in Boston from Phoenix visiting family but only for a couple of days. I demand my brother take me to Vinyl so I could get at least a four pack of traditional English muffins to take home. I think he was more excited than me! I think he cried a little when they said they didn't have any more four packs of French toast muffins to take home. I left with a hefty price tag, full bag, full of stuff, including two vinyl souvenir mugs. Brother said his breakfast sandwich was so good. He could have one every day for the rest of his life. We also got a banana bread that was absolutely delicious. Smelled like fresh bananas tasted liked baked heaven. Got a Blondie and an apple pie bar. Both were very very good. All the employees were patient, kind and gave great tips on what to order. The only problem you may run into is getting a seat if you wanted to eat inside and parking. This place has an almost beachy San Francisco aesthetic. It's quite nice to sit in here on a weekend morning - not too crowded because it's not in a busy area. The concept of an English muffin-based bakery is unique and fun. The food though did not wow me. I got the McVinal. It had too much cheese (two slices) and a very thin turkey sausage. The spicy Mayo, I felt, did not go with the other ingredients. Maybe I ordered wrong, but this was an underwhelming version of a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The oat milk latte was good. -1 star for food The other -1 star is for prices. That sandwich was almost $10. The oat milk latte was over $6. Tip not included. I've had a much better breakfast sandwich at Butternut Bakehouse in Arlington for around $6.5, and they make their own focaccia so it's not comparing apples and oranges. I saw the note on Yelp about Vinal's price increases due to ingredient costs going up, but $10 for a breakfast sandwich is exorbitant. The price also didn't make much sense - you can get an "avocado muffin" for $4.25, add egg and sausage and it would round out to $8.25. That would have been the way to go. read more

I saw a crowd outside this place late morning on a Sunday and decided to check it out. They're takeout only and you can either order online or in person. They have a pickup window outside. Inside, the space is large. They have a variety of sweet treats and snacks. I decided to try the Herb & squash scone and squash cranberry muffin with a spicy chai latte. After paying, I went outside to wait for my order. I'm not sure if it was the particular day, but there was a LONG wait time. After waiting around 25 minutes, I checked in to see what the holdup was for my two baked goods which didn't need prep and chai latte. I was told that there was a backlog on the espresso machine and they gave me my baked goods while I waited longer. There were other customers that were also waiting even after having ordered online. By the time I got my order it was almost noon. The chai latte was average. The baked goods were much better, nothing like I've seen at regular cafes. The 25-30 min wait time really put a damper to my experience. If you expect that big of a delay for a coffee shop, let your customers know while they order. Other thing that I've seen other cafes do is that they disable their online orders during "rush hour". This place definitely has the food, now it's up to the logistics and customer experience to match up to their food. read more

My affinity for this place has grown exponentially over time. A perfect breakfast sandwich is one of my top five favorite things to eat and Vinal's are perfection (recently tried one on a biscuit and I will never eat one anywhere else). As it turns out, Vinal Bakery breakfast sandwiches are delicious and yes, the english muffins are as good as everyone says they are. If you order online, there is a to-go window where you can pick up your order so you don't have to step inside. This is especially convenient if you're planning on bringing your dog with you. Last time we brought our dog with us, they gave her a dog treat (the staff there is super nice). We usually order ahead online. You can customize the sandwiches based on your preferences and I appreciate that they have a veggie sausage option. My favorite breakfast sandwiches are the G.O.A.T. and the Sausage McVinal (with veggie sausage). For beverages (or when I need a caffeine boost), I typically get the Americano. read more

Five stars for the best biscuit in town. So good. It's buttery, soft, tongue magnet, what else can I say. Came here because a friend recommended it and they did say it gets busy so I ordered ahead of time and picked it up from the Togo window. Unfortunately I did not get to go inside and take a seat due to how busy the place gets. I tried 3 different biscuits that we all purchased and none disappointed! Vinal sells some nice sandwiches. Their signature item is their English Muffins which are one of the best I've ever had. Prices are high though, I'd call this a high two-dollar sign ($$) breakfast spot. I visited around 10am on a Wednesday. The interior is small and probably seats 15 people max, but the location wasn't very busy when I got there - only 3 people ahead of me. Vinal is located in a sleepy neighborhood but it's about two blocks from Union Square. You can place orders online and they've got an outside window specifically for to-go online orders. I ordered two "Classics on classics, plus bacon". I knew it would be pricey (see the photo of their pricing notice) but I wasn't expecting it to be more than a president Jackson! That was a bit of a shock. My order was completed in 12 minutes. The sandwich was good. I believe they make their own English muffins and it shows because these are bigger and fluffier than normal English muffins. You almost wouldn't recognize you were eating an English muffin because it'd feel more like a soft biscuit. The bacon was thick and toasted. The serving size for one biscuit is probably enough for the average person. read more

Ive been wanting to try out Vinal Bakery for so long but because it is out of the way, I never did. But these english muffins were well worth it! Vinal Bakery (Union Sq, Somerville, MA) GOAT on Oat Sesame ($6.50) Miss Maple on Anadama ($6.50) The GOAT is for those that want something unique and fancy! The goat cheese butter was so smooth and didnt have an overpowering goat cheese flavor. The the spicy pesto was nutty, herby, and had a very subtle kick. The oat sesame muffin thats made with tahini complemented the nuttiness of the pesto! The Miss Maple is a classic with a slightly sweet twist. The maple butter is also really smooth and buttery with a strong maple aroma without being too sweet. The anadaman muffin was slightly sweet that paired well with the fillings. Vinal Bakery is truly a hidden gem that specializes in english muffins. They were featured on @thefoodlens podcast about a year ago and thats how I found out about them. If youre ever in the area, you definitely need to check this place out and stock up on their english muffins! Theyre only open until 1pm and its take out only. I always walked past this place whenever I'm heading to Target. It always seemed empty, just a few people inside every now and then. Small and quaint. But on Saturday morning a friend of mine wanted to go here for breakfast and boy was it packed. The line was out the door. Vinal is a great addition to union square. It's such a great pit stop on the way to target on a weekend morning. I went on Saturday morning at around 11am and it was definitely busy. However, as a party of 1, it was pretty easy to grab a seat as most people were getting their orders to go. I got a maple latte with oat milk. It was delicious and not too sweet and a big drink for the $5. The GOAT sandwich was also so delicious. The goat cheese butter was nice and tangy against the spicy, fresh basil pesto. Nice little bakery on a Somerville corner. The location is a little off the beaten path between Union and 28. The inside is small but pleasant, nothing too exciting. I only tried one sandwich the sausage mcvinal. It was very good, the special potato chive english muffin was exceptional. I am a little turned off by the prices. My boyfriend and I went to Vinal for the first time last week, and fell so in love with it we've already been back two more times. I didn't know an English muffin could be that good, but somehow, Vinal makes it happen. They offer a variety of 6 English muffins (5 regulars and 1 special flavor of the month). This month, the special was jalapeño corn, which had the perfect level of kick to it. The lattes are smooth and there are fun flavor options. Just like the English muffins, they offer regular menu options for coffee and breakfast sammies, plus special rotating ones. I really enjoyed the "Summerville" sandwich special, with heirloom tomatoes, roasted garlic, and basil butter, as well as the cardamom iced latte. I already knew the food was amazing. But now I know the customer service is top notch as well! This morning I placed an online order using Toast (fulfilled by DoorDash). At the time the order was supposed to arrive, I checked the tracking map and saw my order moving farther and farther away in the wrong direction! Meanwhile my delivery time was getting later and later. I tried contacting the driver but there was no answer so I called Vinal. They were very sympathetic, concerned, and helped me to know what to do next. I contacted DoorDash (Vinal even gave me the number) and cancelled my order. But I was disappointed... I had been craving the Miss Maple breakfast sandwich all morning. So I took a chance and placed another order and this time it arrived! When it did, I saw that Vinal had written a thoughtful note and included some extra English muffins in my order. They remembered my call and cared enough to make sure I was happy, even though the missing first order was in no way their fault. They just won my lifelong loyalty!! Thanks Vinal! Vinal Bakery isn't cheap but that was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The muffin was a wonderful fresh consistency and the sandwich was incredibly flavorful. The spicy pesto and goat cheese bring the perfect balance of savory saltiness, spice, and brightness. Seriously, that was a great friggin sandwich. The only thing I would normally want that it was missing was a little crunch, but in the moment although I noticed the absence of texture contrast, I didn't miss it at all. It was so good. I do wish they served a dark roast coffee option. But whereas most places that only have one roast call it medium but actually go far towards the light side of the spectrum, this one was fairly moderate. Not too dark for light-roast lovers and not too light for dark-roast lovers. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

I had initially been enticed by this place after seeing it on a Chronicle episode. I had an appt. in Boston so decided to find my way to try it. I love the grilled outer sides of the muffins and I would love to know the recipe they use. So delicious!! I purchased 1-2 packs of each variety they had to try them all. I also bought the ham, brie, arugula sandwich on a multigrain muffin and so delicious - ate it on the way home up mass pike! I only wish they had the oat sesame to try but they were out of them. I had emailed the business later to ask if they froze well and she stated since they have no preservatives they should be refrigerated or frozen. I was actually trying to find the hours for another breakfast joint/ bakery around the area and this place popped up as Hot and New and I was completely aghast at the fact I didn't know about this place although I knew about Bagelsaurus. I'll be walking here in the future, but today (on a Sunday) I drove over and found some street parking. They've got a great menu (sorry I missed pics of it, but check out their website). And a full coffee menu. Their cold brew is solid. They carry Tandem coffee from Portland. Love this stuff. For for it. They also offer Oat Milk alternative (yes, I am hipster, but I also can't do regular milk in my coffee so sue me and try the oat milk - it's awesome). I ordered the G.O.A.T. And added bacon on a goat cheese English muffin. Yes, there is a difference bw butter and goat butter. Do it. I dig that their sandwiches are vegetarian and you can add meat. Read up on the place and you'll see how everyone freaks over their English muffins. For a good reason. And you can buy bags of them, even mix and match a few. So. Inside. Like, four tables for two, a community table, and some window seating. Not tons, but a decent amount for the size of the joint. But ya know what.. purse hooks y'all.
