LB Fish Tacos

Walked in for a late lunch. The waitress was kind and told us about the menu when we asked questions regarding the dishes. Offered us drinks and we opted for the horchata and Jamaica, which were flavored and sweetened to perfection. The fish tacos were delicate and had the perfect mix of seasoning. The tortillas were so soft! I asked for some avocado salsa to top off my tacos which is the same one they use for ceviche which was very citrusy and perfect for my taste. The ceviche my boyfriend loved and said it was good, worth the price for the large plate. He got a red sauce to complement his ceviche. The restaurant had some decorations of sea life and two TVs playing local channels like the news and sports. They also had some latin music playing in the background. It was a great environment and a pretty unexpected experience.

La Torre, The Birria

Such a mom and pop shop, but that's what makes the place special. The service was good they kept making sure we were okay. We got the Torre, and the birria plate and everything was so good. We left no crumbs, can't wait to come back and try their breakfast!

My partner visited a couple of weeks ago and couldn't stop raving about the food, so he brought me in to try it for myself this Sunday. From the moment we walked in, we felt so genuinely welcomed. The entire staff was kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I can't quite explain it, but there was just such a warm, welcoming feeling the whole time we were there. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, like you're enjoying a home cooked meal with family. Parking was a breeze, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the steak breakfast, and my partner decided to try the chicken pozole this time. On his first visit, he had the pork pozole and loved it, so he knew we had to come back. I have to say, that steak was cooked to perfection! You can truly feel the love and care that goes into this restaurant. We can't wait to come back with our family and friends. Villalobos Kitchen has definitely become one of our new favorite spots and will be a regular stop for us. Highly recommend!

Food is delicious... so authentic, great service the ladies were so nice. Definitely warm and cozy comfort food. Lots of different fruit aguas, I got the pina it was so refreshing. Birria super tender yummy consume had me eating more and more, served with homemade black beans everything is homemade. I will be back and definitely recommend this place especially for the pozole and birria

We had the Pozole Verde and the Chile Relleno Plate which included a shrimp taco. Both were excellent. Always eat local and support small businesses in my community. The shrimp taco, and the flavors were mild, not overpowering. Also, I tried the ribs on takeout. They were falling off the bone. But I wish they could have used more seasoning. The owners are very kind service is always good.

My husband and I wanted to find a place to eat, and we came across this restaurant, I am glad we did! We were greeted with smiles and it made us feel good, the service was amazing the people here are kind and attentive. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The food was delicious, my husband tried the fish and shrimp tacos, (The Fish tacos were Fried Tilapia, my husband is not a fan of Tilapia. However he said that it doesn't take away from the goodness of the tacos) and the Shrimp Ceviche was so good! Would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

** Phenomenal experience!** Villalobos Kitchen is a beautiful, family-owned gem. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and we loved how dog-friendly they are! To top it all off, the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back soon and highly recommend checking them out!

This is the first time I've ever finished my entire bowl of pozole. I've tried many different places, and they've always been a disappointment--until now. If I'm ever craving pozole, this will definitely be my go-to spot. The staff is incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is very clean, and it has such a warm, comfortable atmosphere that you feel like you're eating at home. I'll definitely be coming back!

Ribeye Steak, loads potatoe, kale salad

EXCEPTIONAL! I was craving a ribeye and wasn't interested in visiting a chain steakhouse. Found this place on Yelp and their ribeye reviews had excellent reviews. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the warmest friendliest staff, including the chef! They staff made you feel like I was at home! SOO very hospitable! The place is so cute. But the FOOD! Omg! One of the best ribeyes I've had in YEARS! The loaded baked potato was exquisite as was the kale salad. I had to let the staff know how enjoyable my experience was before leaving. Love a chance to support a local business! Will be coming back OFTEN. And they have rojo and verde pozole, I will be ordering that ALL winter!

We found this Jem about two years ago. They are a Latin family owned business. Every time we go we are treated kindly and welcomed by the owner. The food is amazing and cooked to order. I usually come here when I want some mariscos. I highly recommend the Seafood tower & fish tacos. Their house made ranch dressing is fire!! I have to go back for breakfast, the menu looks very appetizing. I highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed. The ambiance is pretty chill

Chilaquiles Traditionales. (Sorry for the bad lighting that's was my fault) a very delicious meal!

A New Job, A New Milestone & A Chance to Rewrite the Narrative…read more My best friend and I have a tradition of celebrating new jobs with a nice dinner. Since this was her new job and a major milestone, I let her choose the restaurant. She had visited Bo-Beau last year but didn't get the full experience, so this was her chance to rewrite the narrative. And it was truly night and day. I researched the restaurant beforehand and was excited to see that Bo-Beau is part of the Cohn Restaurant Group, which I mostly associate with San Diego and South Orange County. After this experience, I really hope they're here to stay. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating her new job, and for once, the restaurant actually read the note and acknowledged it. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was excellent. The hostess welcomed us downstairs, another staff member greeted us when we reached the rooftop, and our server quickly followed up. Then came the surprise: complimentary champagne for both of us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially because those little celebratory touches seem to be increasingly rare. Our server was also patient with our questions and attentive throughout the evening without being intrusive. We spent about 2.5 hours enjoying dinner and catching up over: Baked Brie Brussels Sprouts Steak Frites Everything was flavorful, and the entire experience felt relaxed, peaceful, and worth the price point. The food was great, but the hospitality is what earned the 5 stars for me. Real hospitality is paying attention to the guest, recognizing the occasion, and making people feel genuinely welcomed. My best friend got the celebration she wanted -- and a much better Bo-Beau experience this time around. Will definitely be returning!

I've lived in Long Beach for over four years now, and for some reason, every time I drove past A…read moreRestaurant, I always thought, "It can't be that good." I don't know what it was. Maybe the sign, maybe the name, but something about it just didn't call out to me. I'd see their Newport Beach location, always packed, and still think, "I'm going to spend a bunch of money, and the place is probably going to suck." Boy, was I wrong! We recently met someone who works there, and she encouraged us to give it a shot. So one evening, my girlfriend and I decided to check out the Long Beach location overlooking the marina. WOW. What an incredible surprise! First, the decor. Absolutely beautiful. Think Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons. That upscale, luxurious feeling you get when you walk into a really special place. A+. Haha. I guess that's why they call it A's! Looking for a date-night spot where you can impress someone? A+. This place absolutely delivers. The atmosphere? Another A+. There's a buzz in the air, an energy that's hard to describe. You immediately feel like you're somewhere special. And then there's the food. Outstanding! From the appetizer to the main course to dessert, everything was fantastic. A+ But here's something I wasn't expecting. The chairs! I'm not kidding when I say I sat in one of the most comfortable restaurant chairs I've ever experienced. It felt more like a luxurious lounge chair than typical restaurant seating. I could've sat there all night, overlooking the beautiful marina, enjoying the atmosphere. The service was outstanding, too. And the people-watching? Fantastic! As people walked in, you couldn't help but look around. It's that kind of scene. Great energy, interesting people, beautiful surroundings. The whole experience just feels special. By the time we left, I was thinking, "We absolutely have to come back!" And here's what really impressed me. This isn't just a restaurant I'd return to because the food was good. It's a restaurant I'd actually crave. Craving amazing food? I'd think of A Restaurant. Craving a beautiful atmosphere, great energy, and a little luxury? I'd think of A Restaurant. Craving beautiful people? A's. That's rare. Usually, restaurants are great at one thing or another. This place checks practically every box. And now I'm kicking myself for waiting more than four years to try it! All because I judged a restaurant by its sign and name. How ridiculous is that? It really reminded me of that old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover." I had absolutely no reason to believe the restaurant wouldn't be good. I'd never eaten there! Yet somehow, I'd convinced myself it wasn't worth trying. Meanwhile, I was missing out on one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in Long Beach. Now I can't wait to check out their Newport Beach location. Every time I've driven past, that place has been packed. And knowing what I know now, I can only imagine the energy and atmosphere there. Plus, who doesn't love Newport Beach? Oh, and one more thing. Apparently, they serve chicken pot pie on certain days. I haven't figured out exactly which days yet, but you better believe I'm going back to try it. If it's anything like the rest of their food, I'm in for a treat! Here's what I'll say about A Restaurant. Whether you're looking for an impressive date night, incredible food, beautiful waterfront views, outstanding service, or just a fun, upscale atmosphere, I genuinely can't imagine walking away disappointed. There's really nothing I can complain about. And I actually think this restaurant deserves even more attention than it's getting. Maybe there are other people like me who drive past, make assumptions, and never give it a chance. If that's you, stop doing that! You're missing out. A's restaurant should absolutely be considered one of the top go-to dining destinations in Long Beach. We're lucky to have a place like this because, quite frankly, Long Beach needs more bougieness! Bring on the luxury. Bring on the beautiful decor. Bring on that Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons kind of experience. Long Beach could use more of it, and A's is delivering exactly that. Four years of driving past this place, and now I can't wait to go back. Lesson learned. Don't judge a book by its cover. A Restaurant, you won me over. Oh, yeah! F**** A. Haha

A PCH -- Long Beach, California…read more Exceptional Cuisine and Waterfront Views, but Service Needs Refinement My recent visit to A PCH at 2ND & PCH was an experience of contrasts. The waterfront setting is spectacular, with views of the marina and toward Catalina Island. The kitchen delivered excellent cuisine, but the service did not consistently match the quality of the food. We were seated on the patio, where clear protective curtains helped shield guests from the wind and unsettled weather. Unfortunately, an unpleasant damp-mop odor inside the restaurant detracted from our first impression. The hostess station also seemed largely unattended when we arrived. Both are relatively straightforward opportunities for improvement. Our server was helpful, but her presentation seemed less polished than expected for an upscale restaurant. When we asked about her strained voice, she volunteered that she had been out partying the previous evening--more personal information than we needed. There was also a disconnect between our server and the supporting staff: beverage questions were repeated, plates were cleared at awkward times, and crumbs remained between courses. I wiped down the table twice myself. A short pre-service meeting addressing readiness, grooming, responsibilities, and table maintenance could make a meaningful difference. Fortunately, the kitchen was the highlight. Our two filet mignons were cooked precisely to our preference, served at the proper temperature, and beautifully presented. The accompanying herb butter was delicious. My wife enjoyed the chopped salad, though she would have appreciated a little more dressing. The bread service was less successful: the bread was dry throughout rather than simply crisp on the outside, although the flavorful butter helped. We had the pleasure of personally thanking Chef Sergio Gómez. He shared that he began his career as a dishwasher and worked his way up through the kitchen. His journey deserves respect, and his skill was evident in our meal. Then came the dessert: a peach tart with vanilla ice cream, recommended by the chef. Absolutely outstanding--10 out of 10. Perfect temperature, balanced sweetness, and wonderful harmony between the fruit, pastry, and ice cream. It is not to be missed. I brought a bottle of 2021 Clos du Lican from Chile's Apalta region to enjoy with the steaks. Corkage was $30, which is not unreasonable, though a slightly lower fee would be welcome. Our bill for three guests was $259.01 before gratuity, approaching $300 with tip. At roughly $100 per person, thoughtful, coordinated hospitality should be part of the experience, not just excellent cooking. A PCH has enormous potential. Chef Gómez and his kitchen deserve real praise; the front-of-house team needs stronger coordination and attention to detail. I plan to return, particularly to try the oyster service and bar, both of which I have heard good things about. With a few operational refinements, this could become one of Long Beach's standout dining destinations. And I would happily return for that peach tart alone.

Today marked the milestone of my marriage to a truly wonderful woman, and to celebrate, we decided to do it right. We headed to Ruth's Chris Steak House for a dinner that turned out to be as memorable as the years that brought us here. From the moment we walked in, the evening had a special glow. The food, as expected, was absolutely outstanding--sizzling plates of perfection, buttery and rich, the kind of meal that makes you slow down and actually taste every bite. But what truly elevated the night from a great dinner to an unforgettable experience was our server, Katlyn. Hospitality is an art form, and Katlyn is a master. She had that rare gift of being attentive without ever hovering, appearing just when you needed a refill or a fresh side plate. Somewhere between the appetizers and the entrées, she caught sight of our quiet celebration, smiled warmly, and wished us a happy anniversary. Then, she asked the ultimate question: "What's the secret to 22 years?" It's a question that makes you pause. In a few seconds, you're mentally flipping through the photo album of your life together--the triumphs, the quiet mornings, the laughter through hard times, and the countless compromises. Before I could even fully formulate my answer, Katlyn was back to making the night even better. She picked up on my drink preferences and recommended a special Old Fashioned tailored just for me. When it arrived, it was mixed to absolute perfection--a rich, warming toast to the woman sitting across from me. As we sat there, sipping our drinks, enjoying the incredible food, and basking in the comfort of each other's company after all this time, I thought about Katlyn's question. What is the secret? Maybe it's not some grand, hidden formula. Maybe it's just choosing the same person, over and over again, through every season of life. And maybe, on a Tuesday night celebrating 22 years, the secret is simply finding yourself in a booth at Ruth's Chris, with a world-class Old Fashioned in hand, looking across the table at the woman who makes it all worthwhile, while someone like Katlyn takes care of the rest. Here's to 22 years. And here's to many more.

We started with the crab rangoons, which we devoured. You can't go wrong with those and I'm glad they had it on their menu! For our mains, we tried the pad see ew and the panang curry. The pad see ew was great in flavor. I wish there were more veggies and that the beef was a bit less dry but it was not a big deal and still delicious. The panang curry was spicy and nutty. The tenderloin was the best part and practically melted in my mouth! Of course we got thai teas, which were very sweet. They were also huge and definitely shareable. Service was okay, we had to ask multiple times for certain things but they were busy so it is understandable.
