We had a great expereince at Villa Haven! The prices were very fair, and the hookah was excellent and smooth and enjoyable throughout the night. The owner in incredibily kind, courteous, and professional, and you can tell he truly has a talent for hospitality and making guests feel welcome. Our server, Vero was also fantastic, very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Excellent service, great hookah, and a welcoming atmosphere. This place replaced the old Rock & Brews in the Trader Joes/Michaels plaza. There is plenty of parking in the open parking lot. The decor of the place looks exactly the same as before withe a very similar menu, full of American food but they did add some Mediterranean Items. They do also host events like live musical performances or rent out the entire space for private events from the sign. We came recently to watch a World Cup game on the multiple TV's near the bar area. They do have one large TV mounted on the side which is a combination of like 9 TVs but the picture quality was OK since the screens were abit dated with washed out colors with some dead pixels. We did get a full spread of food and drinks including beers and cocktails. They do have a wide variety of beers on tap BUT a majority are sold out so do ask or have a backup choice! The cocktails were tasty and standard for a sports bar. Our favor was the strawberry margarita but you can't really go wrong with any of the margaritas since they were standard recipes and flavors. They are slightly on the stronger side too! The food we got was a very pretty good for a sport bar: Hawawshi - Stuffed Pita Bread: grilled Pita bread stuffed with seasoned ground beef with onion and jalapenos served with tahini sauce. This is very tasty with the well seasoned ground beef paired with the tahini sauce and great for sharing. Shawarma Chicken Sandwich - This one was unexpected since it was wrapped in a tortilla wrap instead of the usual Pita bread so was more like a chicken burrito? The flavor was good with very tender sliced chicken paired with the garlic sauce, tomato, onions and tzatiki sauce too. Shawarma Fries: fries topped with beef or chicken shawarma , tomato , onion, parsley, feta cheese , cheddar cheese and tahini sauce. We got the beef and this was definitely the favorite of the table. This takes all the flavors of shawarma and puts it on some thick crispy fries and goes perfect with beers/cocktails. The one big issue at this place is the service is very slow since they are very short staffed! So everything from ordering, to drink to food delivery is extremely slow especially on a packed day like a World Cup game day. We waited a good 20-30 minutes before our first round of beers came and about 30 minutes for the food. It was obvious on the timing since it was way pass the first hydration break almost till halftime before we even started drinking! Overall, an OK place to hangout with friends to watch a sporting event but just don't expect fast service. They need to either hire more servers or they will lose repeat customers for future events. read more

We came during happy hour right after the Egypt World Cup game when it was packed, so the kitchen was depleted. Thankfully, the bar was still making margs and hubby got a decent bottle of cab for not much markup. My chicken shawarma sliders needed less onion to meat ratio. My husband ordered beef kabobs medium rare and they were more like medium well, so take note. The kitchen tends to run out of menu items during the weekend rush, but the biggest draw are their hookahs; hence, the super patio with copious tables. When we left around 8pm on a Tuesday, the hookah biz was increasing. Our server was surprisingly on top of our needs despite having just dealt with the game patrons. It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I'm so glad I finally tried it after hearing so many great things about it. I went with a few friends, and I had heard there is a $40 minimum spend per person. Personally, I think that's reasonable--it's an average amount for a nice dinner, and businesses need to make money too. I ordered the chicken kebab plate, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. It came with half rice and salad, which was a perfect combination. We also ordered a mixed appetizer platter. The hummus was fantastic, and the tzatziki sauce was top-notch. We tried the spring rolls as well, and they were crispy, fresh, and served with a homemade dipping sauce that made them even better. The service exceeded my expectations. I had heard mixed reviews about the service, but our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The general manager, Sam, also stopped by our table to check on us and make sure everything was perfect, which I really appreciated. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. Came here yesterday with a group of friends for the World Cup final, and it was our first time- definitely won't be our last! Despite the packed house, everything was awesome. Our server Kiro was phenomenal and handled the massive crowd so well. He was super attentive and always kept us in the loop when the bar or kitchen ran behind because of the rush. We sat on the outdoor patio, which is dog friendly and has great TVs set up for games. We ordered a bunch of cocktails, snacks, and hookah. The hookah was great and didn't burn at all, plus the staff constantly came by to change the coals. They had a special menu for the match, but I'm definitely coming back to check out their regular menu. Such a fun spot to hang out! read more

Hubby and I came here for drinks on a Saturday evening, as we've been curious about Villa Haven for a while now. It was not busy at all, maybe one other party at the bar and a family who was dining in. Our waitress/bartender was quick to serve us - but on round 2, we asked for the Pink Lemonade Hard Seltzer that was advertised and she seemed lost. She asked if we wanted to try something else that wasn't a hard seltzer and we kindly declined. However, we noticed the Pink Lemonade Hard Seltzer was on the side opposite of the fridge she opened. This seemed kind of disappointing that the worker didn't know where their own products were at. So we got the Hard Seltzer on tap (I think it was either Brewery X or Truly) and I got the Yuzu Lychee which was delicious. When it came time to pay our bill, there were now two servers at the bar, and 2-3 just standing around talking and not paying attention. No new parties entered while we were there - and it took forever to grab their attention that we wanted the check. I had to personally walk over to let them know. Yes, it may have been a bad day, but I feel it was slow enough to where we shouldn't have been ignored. I would probably give them another shot - as the Pineapple Margarita was really good. 3 stars for now - until next time. I hope to be able to update my review in the near future. read more

Half of the food finally arrived almost an hour after the first half . No utensils around and getting utensils ended up being a huge task. We asked four different servers and got nowhere. I literally walked around the restaurant trying to find someone who could give us a utensil and no one seemed to care. The non-caucasian bartender was also unnecessarily rude when we asked for help. The music was insanely loud, making an already chaotic experience even worse. On top of that, the employee carrying hookah charcoal moves between extremely tightly packed tables with hot coals while jackets and purses are hanging off chairs everywhere. It genuinely felt unsafe. The entire experience was disorganized, frustrating, and exhausting. read more

Wow!! I had no idea this place existed so close! I just found out about this hidden gem because of the World Cup games. The atmosphere is amazing!! The food is good and the hookahs are flavorful! Wow, what an experience! We've been talking about going here for a while, but we finally made it out to go watch a soccer game! Even though our team lost the vibes were Lite! Honestly for as busy as it was , everything from the atmosphere to the food and company was amazing! The waitresses kept coming in to check on us! YES, YES AND AGAIN YES!!!! We came here because I saw online that on Wednesdays they do a 8.99 burger WITH an egg on it! We were skeptical but wow were we pleasantly surprised!! My Husband has never had a burger with an egg on it and now this place has completely changed his mind!! One of the best burgers I've ever had!!! Jon was an awesome server!! Villa Haven is one of my favorite spots in Tustin to sit, relax, enjoy a hookah, and have good food. I come here often, sometimes with a small group and sometimes with a large group, and I always enjoy the atmosphere. Their pizza is one of my favorites too! A special shoutout to Andrew--he is amazing! He's always attentive, makes sure our orders are accurate, and checks on us often to see if we need anything. This place really doesn't care about customers. We wanted to stop by for hookah and hour before their nightly entertainment and still didn't want to seat us unless we paid their cover charge. I explained that we are not interested in their entertainment and would be gone before then but they said no. This is a walk-in without prior reservations. I had my toddler and only wanted to stay for 30-45 minutes. Yes, our hookah sessions are that short because we don't all smoke and the ones who smoke keep it short to be courteous to the rest of the group. On a separate visit, i had reservations outdoor a week in advance and when we got there, there was no table for us. After some time, they managed to "make us" a table so not sure what was the point of reservation. read more

I just want to say, the food is awesome. The ambiance is nice, but the service could be improved. I came on a Thursday for happy hour. We ordered our drinks and we had ordered some happy hour sliders. The food came, but the drinks did not. Not only that, but the server did not check on us either throughout our dining, it wasn't until a nice older gentleman asked how we were doing and we reminded him of the drinks. He helped us out, brought our server, we relayed what we ordered, and then the drinks came. After we finished our dinner. The food, the people inside the kitchen, and the ambiance are good. Villa Haven is a fun place to come for a meal. It's a lively spot with an energetic atmosphere. If you go in on a day that there is a game you can expect to hear tons of cheering and lots of camaraderie amongst the crowd. It's also a good place to go with a larger group of people. There is lots of spacious patio seating. The food however is just average. I tried their hummus and kabobs and they both lacked a little flavor. The kabobs still tasted good. However, I think the hummus needed some work. I tried their shawarma fries and they were decent but not memorable. We came in a large group of about 24 people. I must say the service was very good. The hostess seated us promptly and was very attentive and kind. So what they lacked in food taste they made up in service. I would come here if I wanted to have a good time and was okay with decent but average food. Overall, Villa Haven is a great place if you are looking for a fun, lively night out with friends or a large group. My family and I had a great time at this venue while watching the USA game! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food didn't disappoint. My beef kabobs were outstanding--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My son ordered the chicken kabobs and said they were good, though not quite as memorable as the beef. The rest of the group really enjoyed the beers and the variety of sauces. On top of that, the service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and fast. To my surprise, I had no idea that this was where the old Rock N' Brews used to be located. It's in a shopping center with plenty of parking, no need to worry about that! My friend and I came for lunch on a Friday at 12pm and there was maybe 2 other parties here and then us. We sat outside as it was a lovely day, but I think that turned out to be a bad decision as there was only 1 server working and it seemed that we were being neglected because we were outside. Times in between us ordering our drinks and appetizer and then entree was too far in between and we were never checked on during the meal. The best thing we ordered was the Dip Trio! HIGHLY recommend! They give you HUGE portions of hummus, tzatziki, and baba ghanoush. My only thing is I wish they provided more veggie sticks/pitas for the amount of dips they give you (as you can see, those dishes are DEEP). The garlic paste on my chicken & kofta meal tasted very bland/microwaved. The garlic paste was NOT what I was expecting and tasted more like oil and not fresh garlic. The chicken was decent as was the kofta, but the veggies were bland as well. My friend ordered the Mediterranean salad was highly disappointed in that is was supposed to come with mixed greens as it is easier for her to eat than iceberg and the waitress didn't seem to have an answer as to why it was made wrong. My friend also ask and confirmed if the chicken was like a chicken kabob and not just plain white chicken breast and asked if she can have the kabob chicken with the salad, and she did not get that. We did not each much of our entree and stuck with the appetizer. We might be going to a more authentic Mediterranean restaurant next time as this is more of a fusion restaurant with only a small section of Mediterranean food. read more

A fun new restaurant in the Tustin area. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center. They have a very large space for both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio was more crowded while we were there and was mostly occupied by people who were there for hookah in addition to their dining experience. We opted to sit inside, which was on the emptier side. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful with providing recommendations. The Santa Fe egg rolls are very good for sharing. The outside wasn't as crispy as I would have expected for an egg roll, but it was packed with ingredients in the middle and had a very delicious combination of flavors. The Philly Cheesesteak was good, but had less cheese than you would normally see in this type of sandwich. The meat was tender and was very enjoyable overall. The Kofta sandwich was packed with meat and had really good flavor. It was a lot of bread for the amount of filling and was a little bit on the dry side, but the meat itself was delicious. Both sandwiches came with a generous portion of fries which were nice and crispy. They have a very large menu, so I would definitely be interested in going back to try some of their other dishes as well. The receipt has a QR code that you scan in order to pay online, but you are also able to pay in person depending on your preference. read more

First off, I had high hopes coming here and was extremely disappointed. We came in on a rainy Saturday evening around 5pm, looking to watch the Football game. The host happily greeted us and then that was it. We sat there for 15 minutes without any server to greet us. We searched around, the few staff on hand were running around serving other tables (granted there weren't that many people inside), until we saw the QR code on the table, making the assumption that we can order from there. We ordered the Tzatziki and a beer around 5:40pm. I'd like to note We sat down at 5:11pm and no server had greeted us yet. Our food (no beer yet) arrived around 6:09pm and dropped off by a food runner, whom I asked if he if he could point our server our way since we hadn't been greeted as I wanted to order a drink for myself . He was nice and actually took my drink order for me (he told the bartender to wrong drink but he tried so I can't be mad at him). 6:20pm, a server drops off the incorrect drink order and I inform him about my Correct drink order so a couple minutes later another server brings my correct drink order and the beer my bf finally ordered. Basically one hour has passed and we finally get our drinks that we had ordered 30+ min before that. Oh and the best part, we had an 18% gratuity charge added to our bill as a party of 2. So for future: do not order off the QR code , leave immediately if you're not greeted by a server within 15 minutes, and don't order their Bloody Mary drinks (too watered down) or their tzatziki dish (pita chips are stale and dip is too watery). I went into this place open minded and left feeling thoroughly diss appointed. read more

It's not much different than Rock n Brews that was in this location before. Which also wasn't very good. The menu is extensive but all the food seemed to be sub-par. I do appreciate that they added Mediterranean food to the menu, which I love! I ordered the Kafta sandwich but it was a disappointment. The bread was flavorless and too rough. The meat was just ok. For our appetizers we ordered the buffalo chicken wings and the stuffed pita. The stuffed pita was incredible. I will order that as my main meal next time. The buffalo chicken wings weren't very good so we won't be ordering those again. I was between 3 and 4 stars but what brought me to 3 stars was that the patio now has a smoking section! Which, let's be real, basically means the entire patio will now reek of cigarette smoke. I don't even want my children sitting outside in the non smoking section. So families, heads up about that. I don't think we will be back here anytime soon but we probably will end up back here just because it's so close to our home and there is usually never a dinner crowd. read more

1 Star BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE of undisclosed minimum charges and very poor management. It's a common theme with the yelp reviews about this establishment. We had a gathering at Villa Haven, with roughly 15-25 people. Unfortunately, what should have been a nice celebration turned into a very frustrating experience. When we arrived, we were given a QR menu. There was nothing on the menu stating that there was a $40-per-person minimum, nor was there any disclosure that certain purchases, including alcohol or hookah, would not count toward the minimum. The waiter also never explained these terms when taking our orders. At the end of the night, as people were getting ready to leave, staff suddenly started telling individual guests that they had not met the minimum spend. Some people were scrambling to order food at the last minute just to meet the minimum. In my case, the kitchen had already closed, so I couldn't even order additional food. My fiancée and I had ordered about $60 worth of items then we were told we had to meet an $80 minimum for the two of us. An additional $20 was not going to break the bank but that left a sour taste in my mouth. When I questioned the charge, the manager, Sam, told me that the person who made the reservation had supposedly been informed and that it was their responsibility to tell everyone else. That is not an acceptable way to handle a mandatory charge. If there is a $40-per-person minimum, it should be clearly disclosed to the people who are actually ordering, on the menu or before they place their orders, along with exactly what does and does not count. There were other problems as well. We discovered that we had been charged twice for one drink. I also ordered a non-alcoholic bottled ginger beer. Instead of receiving the bottle, I was given a cup with much of the cup filled with ice. The waiter told me they had stopped serving it in bottles. When I asked Sam about it, he gave me a different explanation, that they had run out of bottles. When I pointed out that the drink had to have come from a bottle, he said he would check on it and never came back. We were also charged an 18% gratuity, and I never received an itemized receipt. I only saw the total on the payment device after waiting late into the evening. What bothered me most was the way management initially handled the situation. When I disputed the minimum charge, I also told Sam that I would be leaving a review about my experience. His response was that he didn't care about reviews and that he had a lot of good reviews. That attitude says a lot about the way management responds to legitimate customer concerns.i saw that some guy called Maykoul is responding to some of the reviews with little change to their operational policies. I'm not criticizing Villa Haven because I disagreed with a restaurant having a minimum for a large party. Restaurants can establish their policies. My issue is the lack of clear disclosure, the surprise charge at the end of the evening, inconsistent explanations, billing error, poor follow-through from management, and the way the dispute was handled. My advice to anyone considering a large-party reservation here is to look elsewhere. There are plenty of good restaurants with much nicer service. Our get together should have been about enjoying the evening. Instead, I spent the end of the night arguing over charges that were never clearly disclosed. So as the saying goes Caveat Emptor / BUYER BEWARE these guys don't really care about satisfied customers but more about making a quick buck. read more

Decided to try this new restaurant that friends recommended to meet at since it was new in the area and we both love Mediterranean cuisine. We sat outside which had a nice patio and the hookah is outside (for my friends). We started with the dip trio which turned out to be my favorite. The dip trio came with hummus, baba ganouch (eggplant dip), and a cucumber dip. I decided to do appetizers for my order and my friends ordered the hamburger which is a must order, Mediterranean chicken and salmon. The server took our orders and served us quickly. The hamburger was flavorful, juicy and had an egg on top not to mention large portion. The salmon was cooked perfectly and spiced to my friend's liking. This place usually appears to be empty when I drive by it on my way to one of the many gems in Tustin. Against my better judgment, I stopped in for lunch today. I regret my decision. The place is roomy, but it was virtually empty when I walked in at lunch time. I think there were about four people in the place plus me. I should have bounced, but I didn't. I ordered the tri-tip soft tacos the menu describes as follows: "artisan tortillas, avocado, marinated red onions, cotija cheese, cilantro, salsa, black beans & lime." They were not good. The meat seemed to me to be overdone and tough with a weird color to it. Let's put it this way: the highlight of the plate was the black beans. When my server asked how is every thing, I explained the meat seemed overdone. She gamely offered to bring me another plate, but I declined. I just wanted to finish up and leave. I suspect Villa Haven is not long for this world. There are no office buildings nearby to drive a good lunch business. For the same reason, I suspect Villa Haven will meet the same fate as its predecessors - Lone Star Steakhouse and Rock and Brews. Needless to say, I won't be back. p.s.
