One of the best parts is that it's halal, which made it an easy choice for our family. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. We ordered a lot of food, including the beef tacos, enchiladas, beef kabob plate, and chicken kabob plate. Everything was delicious! The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal, and there wasn't a single dish we didn't like. This is a great spot for both large family gatherings and smaller groups. Came here with a group of 10, and we were able to make a reservation ahead of time to accommodate our group. Our table was ready for us when we arrived. The interior of the space looks nice! They also have a covered patio area that reminds me of a sunroom. My friend recommended the Taco Flight that comes with 8 tacos. The menu doesn't list exactly which tacos can be chosen as part of the flight, so it's a little confusing. I don't remember all of the tacos our server listed, but we ordered a variety, so the following are some of the ones that do count for the flight--Boneless Chicken, Beef Birria, Lamb Birria, Ribeye, Shrimp, and Beef Koobideh. We also ordered a Lamb Koobideh taco, but our server gave us two of the Beef Koobideh instead. Also just FYI, the chicken and ribeye tacos are "street taco" style, so they're smaller than the others. The taco flight comes on a fun tray on a lazy Susan! In the center are three different salsas, lime wedges, and sliced radish. My favorite tacos were the Beef Birria, Chicken, Shrimp, and Beef Koobideh tacos. The beef birria was tender, juicy, and flavorful! The chicken was tasty as well. The beef koobideh tacos were topped with onion and sumac for some acidity and a nice crunch. Along with the taco flight, I also shared a Cilantro Lime Salad. It had greens, avocado, feta, grilled corn, cherry tomato, cucumber, pepitas, and cilantro dressing. The salad wasn't very visually appealing, but it tasted good. It could have used a little more dressing. Also, in the later evening hours, there's a DJ--the light go down, colored lights come on, the music turns up, and the vibes turn a bit club-like. Aria Kitchen is seriously a 10/10! I love how creative their menu is and how well they bring everything together. The Gormeh Sabzi burrito sounds odd, but somehow it absolutely works- it's one of my favorites! Their ribeye tacos and chicken tacos are also delicious, and the chicken soup is so comforting and flavorful. I'm a big fan of their house salad and dressing as well. The bone marrow appetizer is another must-try, and their chicken taquitos are really good too. And you definitely can't leave without trying the churros with ice cream- absolutely delicious! Visited this for a late dinner and were told we have 10 minutes to place the last order. Restaurant stays open till 10 , but Kitchen closes at 9.30 pm. We played it safe and went with 8 Taco Plate and the chicken sheesh Kebabs per our servers recommendation. Tacos were very good and well served with good presentation. It was my first time trying this place. I had heard a lot of mixed reviews, but overall, I had a good experience. The restaurant was clean, and the ambiance was very nice. The food was good and definitely not traditional Persian, but I actually enjoyed the creative mix of Persian and Mexican flavors. The quality of the food was good as well. I especially loved the cucumber lychee martini--it was delicious! The samosas were also excellent, although the order only came with three pieces. Compared with other places that usually serve four or five, I felt the portion was a little small. I also tried the lamb plate, which was good, and the koobideh tacos were excellent. The service was okay, but there is definitely room for improvement. For dessert, I ordered the tres leches, but unfortunately, they were out of it. Instead of coming back to ask what I would like as a replacement, the server brought me tiramisu without asking. I would have preferred to choose my own substitute. I stopped by Aria Kitchen just before closing and had an outstanding experience, thanks in large part to Ricardo! I asked if they could still make me a chicken quesadilla, and Ricardo went out of his way to check with the kitchen to see if they could accommodate my request. Thankfully, they were able to! He let me know it would be about 10 minutes and invited me to have a seat at the bar while offering me some water. What really stood out was Ricardo's genuine hospitality. He was incredibly friendly, personable, and attentive. We had a great conversation while I waited, and he made me feel welcome despite the fact that they were getting ready to close. Fantastic lunch spot! The service was attentive and warm, and the kitchen nailed every dish. While the menu has a ton of tempting options, I opted for classic favorites: the lamb koobideh and the chicken barg. Portions were greatly appreciated and the salad with house dressing was fantastic. Aria Kitchen is a Mexican/Persian fusion restaurant located about a mile east of John Wayne Airport in Irvine. They are located on the corner of Jamboree Road and Dupont Drive, in a center with several other food establishments. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and there was plenty of parking available. When you enter, there is a host stand and the bar area is on the right and features an eye-catching illuminated onyx bar top. Other dining options include the main dining room as well as a covered outdoor patio. We sat at the bar to take advantage of their happy hour menu. We were greeted promptly, and complimentary chips and salsa and water arrived shortly thereafter. The chips were fresh, and the salsa was flavorful, and had a light heat and smokiness. We ordered the guacamole ($12 happy hour price, normally $14) to go with the chips and salsa. It was a generous portion, flavorful, and the feta cheese crumbles and pomegranate seeds added a nice twist. We needed a second basket of chips to finish it all. I had the Ambulance Chaser cocktail (Ciroc Watermelon Vodka, Fresh Watermelon, Mint, Lemon, Fever Tree Club Soda, Tajin, $16). It had a great watermelon flavor, and was light and refreshing. She had the Guava Mocktail (Seedlip Grove Non-Alcoholic Spirit, Lime, Mint, Simple Syrup, Guava Puree, $10 happy hour price, normally $15). It had a nice guava flavor, and was a little on the sweeter side. We had the Two Empanada plate ($9 happy hour price), with curry potato and chicken filling. They were a good size, and flavorful. The chipotle yogurt was great for dipping. We ate them before I could snap a picture. For my entrée, I had the three enchiladas plate ($18). They let me split the three, so I ordered two shrimp and one beef with green sauce. The enchiladas are medium sized, with a good amount of protein inside. The green sauce was good, and I loved the sour cream drizzle on top. Basmati rice is my favorite, so I was happy to see that on the plate instead of regular rice. The beans were good, and again the feta cheese crumble on top adds a little twist. She had the Cilantro Lime Salad with no protein ($13). This is a huge salad with a great variety of ingredients. The dressing was very flavorful. She had quite a bit left to bring home. She also had a vegan taco ($5 happy hour price) which she enjoyed. We shared the Lychee Cucumber Martini cocktail while eating our main dishes (Effen Cucumber Vodka, Lychee Juice, Soho Lychee Liqueur, $13 happy hour price, normally $17). It was balanced, and had a nice lychee flavor without being overly sweet. It was also very refreshing, a common theme with all the drinks we had. Courtney was our bartender, and served us as well. Ordered some takeout and while the food was tasty and offered good value, the service is not quite up to par. Arrived around 6:45 and waited quite some time up front before the busy waiter greeted us. He was busy with a full section of tables and saw us up front and came to say he would help us in a minute. Props to the waiter for going above and beyond. His section was the farthest from the door. There was no host and the manager, even though he saw us just ignored us. The decor is nice but the lighting needs to be dimmed slightly to avoid giving the restaurant the cafeteria looks. I would come back again to try the Mexican dishes and hope that the place hires a host or at least has someone besides the busy wait staff that keeps an eye on the door. read more

I have grace for people making mistakes but when the server and his manager shrug shoulders and put the blame back on the customers, I have little patience. Their menu supposedly marks items that contain gluten. One would assume the other items don't. But they have a soup with noodles - which is definitely made of wheat. They have samosas and quesadillas not marked as containing gluten, but are both made of flour. When we asked our server, he said only items with bread are marked as gluten because wheat is something some people consider gluten and others don't. This is 100% wrong. When we asked him to check with the kitchen, he walked up to the manger who simply shrugged his shoulders and sent him back with no new information. The server then just began walking away when we asked if an item was actually gluten-free (due to my allergy) and vegetarian (due to religious beliefs). He could not be bothered one bit. When we later asked the manager directly if he understands the concept of food allergies, he just shrugged his shoulders again and said: it's the responsibility of the customer not the restaurant. Well, I guess you're waiting to send a customer to the ER with false comfort and inaccurate information and only then will you understand your responsibility. Why bother then marking some items as containing gluten at all? I have not met such a jerk of a server in quite some time or such an aloof nonchalant manager. While the food was actually decent, this overall experience (after spending $120 on 3 entrees) is absolutely unacceptable. We left really disappointed at this attitude. Overall, service was horrible. The busboy kept trying to take our dishes away while we were still eating. My vegan friend got vegan cheese but my vegetarian friend who requested regular cheese was also given vegan cheese. No water refills even after requesting it. I can't believe any restaurant can survive with such horrible service. And clearly, our experience was not even an anomaly - so many others are complaining in their reviews about the bad service. read more

OMG. We were holding out for a proper visit, but we couldn't wait any longer and decided to finally order to-go. From what I understand, Aria is the recent addition to the growing Persian Empire of the Super Irvine dynasty. The parents run the grocery store, the daughters run the excellent Irvine Grill restaurant, and Aria Kitchen is their latest experiment. While we didn't order any Mexican fusion food, there were some of those same flavors that really came through. The bone marrow comes with a delicious garlicky olive oil to drizzle on top. The oil has a bit of a kick to it--- chili, maybe? that evokes more of a Mexican flavor profile than an Iranian flavor profile. Some of their fresh Pita dipped in it? Life changing. We liked the kabob--- it's pretty good. However, we're spoiled by their sister restaurant, Irvine Grill. Irvine Grill still takes the crown for our favorite kabob. Aria is still a strong contender, though! The Asheh Reshteh is probably my favorite dish here (if we're talking appetizers, their bone marrow is by far one of the best apps I've had ever). It's hard to find good Asheh Reshteh, because it has to hit that balance of well-stewed but not mushy. This one was excellent. They gave us plenty of Kashk to put on top too! Where Aria shines is in its variety and consistent quality. The food is all fresh and delicious, and the flavor combo (while surprisingly not wholly uncommon----NorCal has a handful of similar Mexican-Iranian fusion spots) is so well-paired. There's a damn good reason that Samin Nosrat opted for Mexico for her show when for geopolitical reasons she was unable to film with Netflix in Iran. Both cuisines love their citrus. The only bad thing about this place is the parking situation for dinner on the weekends. It's not so bad during lunch though. Service was wonderful. We got there and our server warned us that it would be a good idea to order soon because they had a large party of 30+ people and if we put in our order afterward, there would be a long delay in us getting our food. All the staff were very helpful and even though they were constantly busy, they did stop by often to check in on our group. At night, they had a deejay spinning and people were dancing and having a great time. The restaurant is clean and fun. I love Persian food. I ordered the Ash soup .It was okay, I've had better but I've also had worse. It seemed a little watery to me. Nevertheless, the cilantro lime salad with filet mignon was perfection. I could eat this every day. I did have some of the zereshk polo and it was pretty good, I love the slight tart of the barberries. I used to be a server and am probably one of their biggest defenders because I know how stressful the job can be, and we are all human after all. I've never encountered a genuinely rude server that ignored me or made me feel exceptionally unwelcome. Well, until I went to Aria Kitchen. This was single-handedly the worst experience I have ever had when there were multiple servers lounging around during a non-peak time (afternoon) who did not even give bare minimum service. Please note that I do not say this lightly but they came off as lazy, indifferent servers that make everyone in the profession look bad. Teenagers manning the cashier stations at TJ Maxx work harder than them. My boyfriend and I were seated and had to wait 20 minutes until someone came over to check on us. The first 10 minutes, servers would walk by and ignore eye contact, while chatting with their friends or regulars. We tried to get a server's attention a few times but he just looked at us blankly. I heard the host whisper, "Those two need to order," at around 15 minutes in, before a server casually ambled over 5 minutes later with no sense of urgency and spoke to us like we were children. Well, being so heavily ignored in the beginning sucked, but I was still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as maybe they were giving us a wide berth to have time to decide. However, I noticed that people who seemed like regulars would walk in and be seated and have their drinks brought out immediately with plenty of rousing conversation, and there were some off-duty servers sitting at a table and chatting with working staff. It made the ignoring seem VERY intentional and targeted. No one checked on us the entire time we were eating, even as we finished our waters and our entire meal for that matter. Yet I saw ample service being given to a family further into the restaurant. We had to flag down a server again some time later to bring the check; we just wanted to get out of there since the mood was spoiled. Do the servers here only bother to engage with regulars and fellow servers? They were all guys in their 30s-40s. The whole experience was disrespectful, and I was a PAYING CUSTOMER. I'm not kidding when I say it is the worst restaurant dine-in I've ever had. I get better service at McDonald's for gods sake. I'm never coming back here and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place. I don't know what warranted the horrible behaviour of the staff toward us. My two favorite foods united at Aria! Who doesn't like Mexican food? Combine it with Persian food and it is a marriage made in heaven. Spacious, clean and nicely decorated, from the hostel to our server, we were greeted warmly and great recommendations made for us. The Bar! One shouldn't be surprised that a Mexican and Persian restaurant would create delicious drinks. Several classic drink items and Aria's signature ones made it difficult to pick one. We ordered the Guava Pomegranate Margarita and the Lychee Cucumber Martini. Both were delicious, with enough kick to make our afternoon lunch a celebration. I was happy to see so many of my favorite Mexican and Persian dishes. The variety made it difficult to choose. But we did! The pear and pomegranate salad was crispy, fresh and delicious. The Steak Fajita was enough for two people. A tender serving of "barg" which is marinated filet mignon, was served on top of sautéed vegetables (which were not particularly a standout, but good). The fajita is served with a generous portion of Lubia Polo, guacamole, salsa and chimichurri sauce. The refried beans were creamy and delicious. The flour tortilla along with the rice, steak and sauces, were bites of perfection. Since Ghorme Sabzi is my favorite stew, I asked if we could have it without the bread, and they easly accommodated us. Persians are picky with the National Stew of Ghormeh Sabzi (as am I), and Aria did not disappoint. It was delicious! Served with basmati rice and tahdiq (crispy rice which was not particularly good in my opinion), the portion again is perfect for two people. How can one go wrong with Persian/Mexican fusion as both types of food are delicious? This was my first time trying this place. I came from North California just to give it a shot. The beef was OK nothing crazy, nothing memorable. The ground beef was good though, and the rice, shrimp, and tahchin actually made the meal worth it. The tahchin was easily the best part of the whole order. But honestly, what really stood out was the service. Our server, Kayvan, was exceptional. I've been in this industry for 20 years, and I can confidently say he's one of the best servers I've ever seen. Very polite, very welcoming, genuinely helpful with the menu, and just great at what he does. The restaurant is lucky to have someone like him a server like that can change the entire experience. Solid food. Higher end pricing for meditation/Mexican food. Big portion sizes and it tastes great! There were 2 servers so service was a bit slow but can't fault the servers. Great place, highly recommend. It is close to a lot of office buildings, looks like a great place for team outings, client meetings, even for date nights. Friday & Saturday nights have live DJs. On a Monday afternoon we entered this aesthetically pleasing restaurant for the first time. It happened to be happy hour. We decided to order from the happy hour menu and the choices were very good. As a vegetarian, I had good choices. My husband ordered a guava margarita and it was really good. Our daughter ordered the nachos with the meat on the side so both my husband and I could enjoy it as well. It was amazing. My favorite was the eggplant dip. It was very flavorful and a great appetizer. The food is a fusion of Mexican and Persian Absolutely delicious. Our server Kayvon was a lovely gentleman. From the moment we entered the restaurant, he made us feel so welcome with his friendly words and warm smile. It's a beautiful restaurant, delicious food and great service. Found this place on resy and decided to give it a try. I appreciate a happy hour and let me tell you, seeing a website broadcast their happy hour front and center makes me very happy! From the outside it looks a little bleak but you enter and greeted with well lit open space with a gorgeous bar and cute tables set up, to the patio which is surrounded by string lights and fake flowers making it very nice and cute. Our server was EXCELLENT she was so nice, kind, and full of energy which always makes dinning somewhere more fun. We got the flautas, empeñadas, fries, and potato salad also got a skinny marg and corona THE PRICE $51! THE PORTIONS WERE MASSIVE. the flautas came out and I thought we got the full price ones because there were 4 big pieces! And the food was great. We didn't get too into any of the Persian Mexican mixed food but everything was seasoned great and was memorable and different. We didn't get any tacos but walked passed a few that looked so so good so we can't wait to be back. We will return this place is a gem! read more

First, three (3) parties were at the podium and not being attended to for nearly 10 mins while the staff overly focused on some take out order. They call themselves a fusion of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine but it's more accurate to describe it as a fusion of nice plating and no flavor. Don't get fooled by my dish. It looks great but the only thing that has any flavor is the salad dressing. Plus, how is "greige" an appropriate color for [an alleged] filet mignon cut of beef? Ambiance feels like a cafeteria with the employees banging plates and silverware, which is probably why the music is so loud - to try to drown them out. Overall, a poor choice, even for the wealthy dudes who drove up in a McLaren (no, not us). read more

Love love love the food here! If you are looking for great vibes and ambiance and wonderful kabob in Irvine, come here! The service has always been wonderful, too. They have highchairs and booster seats for kiddos as well. This place has a Mexican Persian fusion menu. If you are looking for all authentic persian menu with all stews and options available, perhaps check the menu before coming here. I usually go for Beef soltani or chicken kabobs at Persian restaurants, so this fits the bill. They have a bar area, and a covered patio. For food, mast o moosir (yogurt and shallot dip) is great and served with warm pita bread. There is no complimentary persian bread with butter here, instead they serve tortilla chips and a delicious salsa. We always go for beef soltani, which is a generous portion. I go for the half rice, half salad version. Their salad is very tasty. 2 of these is enough to feed us and our toddler daughter. She loves the food here too.
