Meatball pho with the fixings plate - excellent, the best in Phoenix

I dont know why I dont come here more often but really I should because this place makes excellent Vietnamese food. Today I came in as I wanted some pho, was feeling a bit dehydrated from running a 10K race today and just wanted to refuel. I ordered the meatball pho and it was excellent. All the flavors are spot on, and everything tasted right! Probably the best pho I have had here in Phoenix! The sit down area is no frills and you help yourself to utensils, hoisin sauce, Sriracha, napkins, water. Id say order take out. You also bus your own table and make sure tp place your empty bowls and plates in the grey bin above the trash right before you leave. My only complaint is that I couldn't find the soap in the bathroom. Excellent pho, I'll definitely come back!

I saw some real good reviews so I thought I give this place a try. Two different Pho place in one week, I think this is my record. OK, this review and my rating is based on Pho only. Ordered my usual special Pho with all the meat. Little over $19 after tax, seems like this is going rate of price around here. Little station where you can make your own dipping sauce was nice. Now being I came right after it opened I was disappointed to see the station not the cleanest. Nothing crazy to where I am going to nit pick every little thing, but enough for me to comment on it. So my bowl came and I don't know why but stainless bowl was little odd and because of the color of the bowl made the broth more watery.. Took my first sip of the broth and it was not too bad. I mixed my vegetables and started eating it. I alway eat my Pho with the spoon, I grab some noodles and put them on the spoon, then dip the spoon in the broth and eat it with broth and noodle. For me this is the best way since you are not just shoving noodle and tasting broth separately. As I started to eat more and more I couldn't help noticing that the broth lacked flavor more than I thought. I finished my bowl thinking man, what a disappointment. This place again is too far for me so I probably won't return. Again I am sure based on reviews other dishes are good, but Pho for me was a no go. Just for the record, I always try the broth before I add any side vegetables and or chillie/Saracha.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! Always delicious, consistent, and high quality. 8b with grilled pork is my fave. Their chicken pho is also phenomenal!!

I haven't visited Viet Shack for a long time, so I was surprised to see that they now have an expanded dining area! Even I was always there for a to-go order, I am now intrigued to have a sit down experience. I will never stop praising this "hole in a wall" for their fresh ingredients and attractive menu. If they start opening at 6am just by selling their signature coffee, that would be amazing!! (Take my wallet!!) I am also happy to find out that they now offer pho. I hope to go back soon to try it out!

"The [Viet]shack is a little old place where We can get together." - Actual lyrics of The B-52'S "Love Shack" Okay, maybe not. Don't press charges. But they might as well be the lyrics because I would find it hard to believe that Vietshack doesn't bring people together through good food. I've been coming here for a minute and have tried everything on the menu. Not one bad dish is served here. Some of my favorites are the Salt & Pepper Wings and the Char Siu Rice Plate with fried rice. Honorable mention to the Shack Fried Noodles. The Lotus Root Salad is also a refreshing dish. It's cool to see that they have expanded over to the fish shop that was next door. I wish them continued success.

I ordered take out once before and loved it, but I finally got to dine in for lunch on the 4th with a friend. It's a small little spot with a counter to order on the left side of the space and then the dining area to the right. You order at the counter & take a number to your table cafeteria style. I got the veggie spring rolls and the veggie tofu noodles. My friend got the number 8b (bun thit nuong vermicelli bowl) and an order of the shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls are scrumptious with fresh crisp veggies inside, but the best part is the peanut sauce! It's noy spicy like other places I've been and it's just perfect compliment to the roll. I always ask for a second sauce (I want one for each roll). The veggie stir fried noodles were delicious. The veggies were super fresh and tender crisp (cooked perfectly) and the noodles were cooked well and not overly greasy. I absolutely love how they slice the tofu into thin square strips so the edges crisp perfectly in the fryer and you dont have a big soggy middle (as you would with a normal full cube). My friend also thoroughly enjoyed her meal and said she would totally go out of her way to come back here and that her mom would love it too. Highly recommend, whether dining in or to-go! Staff was super friendly and helpful as well. I'm glad I'm only 5mins away from here so I can stop by any time I have a hankering for the food!

I've been seeing this place for many years since I go to Floor and Decor often. Not sure why I never tried it but now I realized I've been missing out. It's a hidden gem! It's a tiny place from the outside but inside there is plenty of seating. You order up at the counter and then they bring the food to you. Dishes are on disposable plates so it's more of a fast food joint which I don't mind at all. I had looked up the menu online prior to the visit and to my surprise the price has not changed in a few years. Their price is super affordable and portion size is perfect. We ordered the chicken fried rice plate and the lotus salad and they were both amazing. I even came back the next day but they weren't open eventhough the sign said 11am and I was there a few minutes after. Looking forward to trying other dishes at a later time. Happy to have found a Vietnamese restaurant that is actually good and affordable.

Super friendly family that run this place! As a vietnamese person, I approve this place 100%. The crispy chicken over white rice hits the spot every time. The flavor not too salty but can add soy sauce if you'd like, portion is just perfect because it's filling, and the prices are very fair.

They recently renovated and the place is a lot bigger and more sit down spots are available to eat there. This restaurant is one of my favorites spots to visit as their food is always good quality and amazing value for price. My sandwich was absolutely delicious! I'm used to getting a firmer tofu on a banh mi but they serve theirs with a softer tofu- and I loved it. The pickled veggies were absolutely delicious! I will definitely be back!

Went here for lunch with a friend while I was pregnant. I basically ordered everything on their menu & devoured it. I couldn't eat the rest of the day because of how full I was! Here I go deviating from the crowd again. My expectations were high for this place given all the 5 star reviews, but I was let down with my experience. I stopped by and intended to dine-in. However, there was an overwhelming acetone smell in the dining area. Even with the door propped open, it was too strong for me. I got tofu spring rolls and ate them in my car instead. The rolls were ok, but I was expecting a bigger pop of flavor based on the reviews. The peanut sauce on the side was good although I wish I was dining in so I could have made it a bit spicier with some sambal. My three rolls were under $7 including tip so I would go back again to try another item on the menu. read more

Slow service with poor prioritization for orders. I came in and ordered 2 spring roll orders. 3 people came after me ordered hot meals and spring rolls. Guess who got their spring rolls 25 minutes after ordering and after the 3 people got theirs first. It's not like I ordered spring rolls different from theirs. Not going back again. read more

Delicious. I've tried the Bun Thit Nuong with chicken, Mi Xao noodles (d. Shack fried noodles with beef and broccoli), shack shrimp, traditional spring roll, and the iced coffee. All have been fantastic. The beef and broccoli noodles have a good dose of garlic and are one of my favorites. I've always loved the Bun dishes, so they're great for a fresh cool meal. The shack shrimp were a pleasant surprise when I tried them out and traditional spring rolls (some places call summer rolls) are refreshing and go great with the accompanying peanut sauce. The BEST iced coffee. I usually make my own iced coffee but the methods they have for their Vietnamese iced coffee create a fabulous sweet, rich, but strong coffee. You can taste the variants in the beans and it puts the average iced coffee you can get at any chain to shame. It is quite a bit different from what most will be used to, but it's definitely worth the purchase. I've even picked some up in the evening to save for my morning coffee. They're super friendly and have great food and drink. They deserve all the stars. read more

Stopped by because we were craving something healthy, fast and tasty. We were pretty tired of açaí bowls and salads, so we decided to try to this place. We have no regrets. Their service is great, and the place is really clean. They serve food really fast, and the food is pretty good. It's definitely more of a Vietnamese fast-food restaurant with a new American vibe. Some of the food options are healthy with lots of fresh vegetables and protein. Healthy food options, big portions, reasonably priced, amazing customer service, very tasty and clean. We had an 8 hour layover in Phoenix and decided to enjoy the city while we were there. After looking at several different places we picked VietShack. We were initially disapointed because they don't have pho on the menu. However after receiving our food we were glad we came. Small, Cozy and Delicious, hmm if you replace one of the word it would sound so wrong...Anyway... This place is great, they offer picture perfect dish in good portion while also tasting delicious. However, the menu is small so don't expect pho or normal Vietnamese dishes here but expect something that is unique, delicious and good for those Instagram story... This has become a go to place for Vietnamese Cuisine. Family owned and operated. I love there bowls and spring rolls with peanut sauce. Second time we've been here and this place still hits the spot! We had an assortment of yummy dishes: shrimp spring rolls, egg rolls, shack shrimp, lotus salad (favorite item here!), and grilled pork with fried rice. Everything is fresh, and the egg rolls and shack shrimp are crispy! The prices are very fair and customer service is top notch. There was one young man working the register and also bringing out the food. He was very friendly and helped us with a high chair. I noticed he also greeted every single customer who came in. Meet the Business Owner: Ngan V.

Ngan moved to AZ from Vietnam in 2010. Being homesick and looking for Vietnamese comfort food she had to make all the food she was so fond of. She then started cooking for friends, family, and large groups and has been catering to them since 2016.

This is not a shack by any stretch of the imagination. The menu accommodates many dietary restrictions. The spring rolls are fresh and savory.
