Meatball pho with the fixings plate - excellent, the best in Phoenix

I dont know why I dont come here more often but really I should because this place makes excellent Vietnamese food. Today I came in as I wanted some pho, was feeling a bit dehydrated from running a 10K race today and just wanted to refuel. I ordered the meatball pho and it was excellent. All the flavors are spot on, and everything tasted right! Probably the best pho I have had here in Phoenix! The sit down area is no frills and you help yourself to utensils, hoisin sauce, Sriracha, napkins, water. Id say order take out. You also bus your own table and make sure tp place your empty bowls and plates in the grey bin above the trash right before you leave. My only complaint is that I couldn't find the soap in the bathroom. Excellent pho, I'll definitely come back!

I saw some real good reviews so I thought I give this place a try. Two different Pho place in one week, I think this is my record. OK, this review and my rating is based on Pho only. Ordered my usual special Pho with all the meat. Little over $19 after tax, seems like this is going rate of price around here. Little station where you can make your own dipping sauce was nice. Now being I came right after it opened I was disappointed to see the station not the cleanest. Nothing crazy to where I am going to nit pick every little thing, but enough for me to comment on it. So my bowl came and I don't know why but stainless bowl was little odd and because of the color of the bowl made the broth more watery.. Took my first sip of the broth and it was not too bad. I mixed my vegetables and started eating it. I alway eat my Pho with the spoon, I grab some noodles and put them on the spoon, then dip the spoon in the broth and eat it with broth and noodle. For me this is the best way since you are not just shoving noodle and tasting broth separately. As I started to eat more and more I couldn't help noticing that the broth lacked flavor more than I thought. I finished my bowl thinking man, what a disappointment. This place again is too far for me so I probably won't return. Again I am sure based on reviews other dishes are good, but Pho for me was a no go. Just for the record, I always try the broth before I add any side vegetables and or chillie/Saracha.

I haven't visited Viet Shack for a long time, so I was surprised to see that they now have an expanded dining area! Even I was always there for a to-go order, I am now intrigued to have a sit down experience. I will never stop praising this "hole in a wall" for their fresh ingredients and attractive menu. If they start opening at 6am just by selling their signature coffee, that would be amazing!! (Take my wallet!!) I am also happy to find out that they now offer pho. I hope to go back soon to try it out!

"The [Viet]shack is a little old place where We can get together." - Actual lyrics of The B-52'S "Love Shack" Okay, maybe not. Don't press charges. But they might as well be the lyrics because I would find it hard to believe that Vietshack doesn't bring people together through good food. I've been coming here for a minute and have tried everything on the menu. Not one bad dish is served here. Some of my favorites are the Salt & Pepper Wings and the Char Siu Rice Plate with fried rice. Honorable mention to the Shack Fried Noodles. The Lotus Root Salad is also a refreshing dish. It's cool to see that they have expanded over to the fish shop that was next door. I wish them continued success.

I ordered take out once before and loved it, but I finally got to dine in for lunch on the 4th with a friend. It's a small little spot with a counter to order on the left side of the space and then the dining area to the right. You order at the counter & take a number to your table cafeteria style. I got the veggie spring rolls and the veggie tofu noodles. My friend got the number 8b (bun thit nuong vermicelli bowl) and an order of the shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls are scrumptious with fresh crisp veggies inside, but the best part is the peanut sauce! It's noy spicy like other places I've been and it's just perfect compliment to the roll. I always ask for a second sauce (I want one for each roll). The veggie stir fried noodles were delicious. The veggies were super fresh and tender crisp (cooked perfectly) and the noodles were cooked well and not overly greasy. I absolutely love how they slice the tofu into thin square strips so the edges crisp perfectly in the fryer and you dont have a big soggy middle (as you would with a normal full cube). My friend also thoroughly enjoyed her meal and said she would totally go out of her way to come back here and that her mom would love it too. Highly recommend, whether dining in or to-go! Staff was super friendly and helpful as well. I'm glad I'm only 5mins away from here so I can stop by any time I have a hankering for the food!

I've been seeing this place for many years since I go to Floor and Decor often. Not sure why I never tried it but now I realized I've been missing out. It's a hidden gem! It's a tiny place from the outside but inside there is plenty of seating. You order up at the counter and then they bring the food to you. Dishes are on disposable plates so it's more of a fast food joint which I don't mind at all. I had looked up the menu online prior to the visit and to my surprise the price has not changed in a few years. Their price is super affordable and portion size is perfect. We ordered the chicken fried rice plate and the lotus salad and they were both amazing. I even came back the next day but they weren't open eventhough the sign said 11am and I was there a few minutes after. Looking forward to trying other dishes at a later time. Happy to have found a Vietnamese restaurant that is actually good and affordable.

Super friendly family that run this place! As a vietnamese person, I approve this place 100%. The crispy chicken over white rice hits the spot every time. The flavor not too salty but can add soy sauce if you'd like, portion is just perfect because it's filling, and the prices are very fair.

They recently renovated and the place is a lot bigger and more sit down spots are available to eat there. This restaurant is one of my favorites spots to visit as their food is always good quality and amazing value for price. Lives up to the hype. Tried the Shack fried noodles for lunch. Beef was tender and noodles and veggies were cooked perfectly. Everything was really, really well seasoned. Food came out very quickly. Dropped by because of the great reviews and it was the best decision today! We've been roaming Arizona for some good Asian eats and this is at the top of our list, highly recommend! The food was delcious. We got the vermicelli with grilled pork and egg rolls, spring rolls and banh mi with grilled pork. The vermicelli was fresh, the pork savory, the buns soft, the egg rolls crispy, all coming together in a harmonic burst of flavor. Great local Vietnamese place with a small menu and fresh food. The term shack may lead you think of this place as drab, but it is bright shiny and clean. Most menu items has a vegetarian / vegan friendly option including the spring rolls, noodles, vermicelli (w/o fish sauce) and bhan mi. This place has one of the best deals for fresh spring rolls, just ask for extra peanut sauce as you will need it. My son loves the noodles here, he keep asking to come back. This is like Arizona's hidden gem. I moved to Arizona 4 months ago and this has quickly become my favorite spot. I found this place on Yelp and have had it bookmarked for a few weeks now and finally got a chance to stop by today! Not too much curb appeal but wow the inside is actually pretty spacious, super clean, and just a great place to grab a bite! Onto the food-- I was blown away by the flavors. Pretty simple menu but hey, do what you know, and do it well and you're gonna be successful in my book. I had the pork belly Banh Mi sandwich combo with cheese wontons (crab rangoon) with sweet & sour sauce and loved it. The person I was with had the same entree and got a spring roll to go with it, and I think it had a peanut sauce? Everything was insanely fresh, made to order, and felt honestly homemade. I think the owner was there taking our order and he couldn't have been nicer, just a super chill guy, checked in on us and the other people eating, and made some recommendations for our next visit. I've honestly started to try more unique food places this year so I'm glad I found this spot and I will be back to try the rest of the menu! We definitely needed some more quick Lunch options around this side of the area. This place is perfect for a quick lunch. Be aware that this place Is not your regular pho Vietnamese place but a quick grab ons. I love the fact that they have quiet a good number of varieties. I went with shrimp egg roll and grilled chicken sandwich. The egg roll was decent but when it arrived on plate it was steaming hot. So I know that it was made to order and I was impressed. The chicken Banh mi had my heart. The chicken was juicy and the sandwich was delicious. I would definitely have it again. They have quiet a good Number of options be it the fried chicken, noodles or even the Vietnamese coffee. I would definitely try it out. The service was quick and the price is reasonable. Being a vegetarian the choices are very limited for me in most places, and lot of compromise on flavor and taste. However Viet Shack would score 10/10 in options, flavors and cost. My husband got a fried chicken rice plate and I got tofu with stir fried veggies (white rice or fried rice option). The portions were very good and the food tasted amazing. I was visiting with family in Tempe and we got takeout from here. I can't speak to the interior of the restaurant because I didn't see it, but order and pickup were very speedy. My tofu Banh Mi was delicious and so were the crab rangoon. We also got shrimp Goi Cuon which I didn't try because I was full, but it also looked very good! This isn't a place that serves Pho and I don't really care. That's average and boring and such a cliche order. One of the best grilled pork bahn mis that I've had. They packed this bahn mi with pork and I love how they got it a little crispy as well. Flavor was amazing and the bread and veggies were fresh. If I came here just to get the bahn mi they would be 5 starts for sure however we ordered a couple other dishes such as the vermicelli bowl and chicken wings which I thought were just okay. The chicken wings needed a little more flavor and I wish there was a better sauce for the vermicelli bowl. I've had some horrible Vietnamese food in my day, but this is far from that. This is that 5-star food, y'all! Thoung (the owner) and his wife have a really good thing going on there, so definitely give it a shot.
