Vietnam Restaurant's pho broth is definitely one of the better broths in Eugene, so much so that I have been back twice! It is rich and flavorful. We got the beef pho and salad rolls. As good as it was, they were a bit skimpy on the meat.

I was immediately welcomed, and was seated as soon as they could help me. Sweet servers who helped me, and were patient while I looked at their delicious menu. I love the culture in the restaurant it is such a cozy experience. I got the beef pho and usually I like to taste the broth before I add anything, and WOW! So flavorful, definitely the best pho in town. Thank you

The restaurant is hit or miss, sometimes the soup is better quality than other times. It isn't the most consistent but it does have a lot of options for Eugene. It can be very difficult to wave down the waitress. The duck egg noodle soup is delicious and hits the spot. The bun Bo hue is also pretty good most of the time. The pho isn't the most consistent but definitely one of the better places in Eugene.

Easily the best pho in Eugene! Despite only having two people working -- one in the kitchen and one at the counter -- they managed a busy crowd with such kindness and patience. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was absolutely outstanding. The ambiance was phenomenal. Definitely sad I am just finding this place!

This place is super low key, no frills. In other words it's perfect. The food is probably is as close as you're gonna get to the real deal in Vietnam. You gotta try the Viet crepes. I never saw this before and they are absolutely delicious. The phó is legit. They use real bones and it's not that fake crap the other places in town serve. The service is perfect. Everything is amazing. If you want the real desk this is the only place in Eugene to go.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - Beef Fried Rice (26B) and BBQ Duck with steamed rice and vegetables (25). We were super excited for the food since the pictures on the menu shows a generous amount of food that looks amazing! We were quite disappointed by what we actually got though. The portion was much smaller than expected and the amount of actual ingredients other than rice is a bit sad. The fried rice was bland but oily and the beef overcooked and chewy. The duck was cooked well and nicely flavored but not cleaned well as we had to pull some hair remnants out of the pieces. Ambience: n/a - ordered food to go Service: 5/5 - to the point and quick to take our order. Slight communication difficulties but no overall issues Value for price: 3/5 - quick service. Avoid the fried rice!

Vietnam is frequented by a loyal client base-- teachers, contractors, students-in-the-know, road workers, professors, duck hunters, and uber drivers. The food echoes Saigon street food-- crunchy, spicy, laden with fresh vegetables. Try B-13 (the bún, with beef), and the Vietnamese crepes. The menu is otherwise truly loaded. The ambiance is familiar if you've ever been to Vietnam itself (lots of yammering from the kitchen, over the sizzling and clankings), however it's not a beautiful interior or exterior. It's my favorite meal in Eugene. I almost want it to stay a secret. Almost.

Saw the great reviews and thought I should give this place a try, so I doordashed it, and found an ant in my spring roll. Disgusting.

Found this restaurant through other yelp reviews! I've been craving a good bowl of pho, something that reminds me of my mothers so I decided to give it a shot. I got the pho tai bo vien while my partner got the pho tai bowl! It only comes in one size and was decent. I wouldn't say it's the best pho I've ever had, but it definitely hits the spot. We also got the egg rolls (cha gio) as an appetizer and it was just okay so I probably wouldn't order it again. For drinks, we got Thai ice tea and my partner loved his but I thought it was a little too sweet so to each their own. The service was amazing and staff was super friendly! We also loved that there were TVs to watch sports haha overall, not a bad spot! We will be returning customers! Also, just wanted to add a side note... I saw that this restaurant got a health violation for raw meat a while back.. It is actually part of the Vietnamese culture to get served raw steak, which you then dip it in the very hot pho broth to let it cook. I didn't want this restaurant to get any bad reviews due to that when it's actually the Vietnamese tradition and proper way to eat pho.

Hair strands found in chow mein
    Mikie P.

I went here for dinner one night as we were craving Vietnamese food. I ordered the pho special and my sister ordered the chow mein. The pho special was decent for our area but was a little bland. However, the chow mein we ordered had hair in it! At first, we brushed it off because we thought it could have just been my sister's hair but there were THREE strands of hair mixed into the dish. After seeing that, we could not eat anymore. Staff, please practice proper food handling and wear a hairnet!

But the market parking is always full, so parking is challenging here. First impressions weren't great in all aspects... there were 3 tables in total but we had to wait to order. Although we did get the complementary shrimp chips and water immediately. THE WATER TASTES FUNNY... like a hint of dishwashing liquid was still there, it was not just me, I asked the entire table and they agreed. It's a great space so definitely hip... but not without a cost... trendy location means higher burden for the business and higher prices. I didn't think I'd see a pho special priced at $24 yet in Oregon but here we are. Granted bone marrow is not cheap and it's a very unique rendition. The other problem is the volume of noodles... literally the cheapest part of the dish... there was very little for a $24 bowl. We asked for extra noodles and they obliged for $2. Also that bone marrow was DIVINE if you're into that... but yet again... it's "butter" so what do I eat it with? The tiny amount of noodles or the fried donut that has a lot of oil content as well... my answer is... MORE NOODLES! Oddly enough the bun xeo which usually is a lot of work to put together the omelette was a good value. Yet once again just the lettuce pieces. I'm comparing to pretty much every PDX joint... which gives more than 3 lettuce leaves... because honestly the omelette has enough protein to make at least 5. They need to rethink this. Certain herbs are harder to get and we're in Eugene, the palate is different but more than just mint would be nice. Flavor wise it was fine... and I enjoyed it albeit on the tame side. The Staff was very attentive on water refills and clearing dishes. A lot of potential... but some things are just off balance.

I set my expectations low since I live in the SF Bay Area, where there are multiple cities with "Little Saigon" districts. Upon entering, we had to wait a bit before any staff person saw us to and get seated. They didn't seem overly, busy, so I'll attribute it to being short staffed, growing pains and still relatively new. The restaurant was very open and spacious. We were eventually seated at one of the taller tables in the front of the house many of the other patrons were seated at tables in the back of the house. Once seated though, our server provided an overview of the menu, recommendations and his personal favorites. We were given a small dish of shrimp chips...a childhood reminder for me and it was a nice touch. They were freshly fried, crisp and not greasy. We ordered the pho bo tai ($19), bahn xeo ($17) and the com chien (fried rice). Firstly, the com chien, a family recipe, was amazing! I was really impressed with this dish and would order it again. The banh xeo was a bit lacking--it wasn't bad, but nothing really memorable about this dish. While it was generously stuffed with bean sprouts/veggies, pork and a couple pieces of shrimp, the downside was it made the batter a bit soggy and the crispness vanished--pretty at presentation, it did not hold up well and fell apart while eating. The Vietnamese coffee was strong but it had a strange aftertaste--kind of soapy. The pho was alright--nothing stand out about it. There was plenty of meatballs, sliced beef and lots of broth. With the exception of getting seen & getting seated, service was good. Our server was attentive, checking on us regularly. Overall, I may check it out again and try other menu items on my next trip to Eugene.

The veggie banh mi had a good amount of avocado and was flavorful and filling. The small spicy beef pho was pretty good. It came with a couple of fully cooked beef slices and the broth had some chili oil in it. I like my soup spicy, so I was happy to see that there was a self-serve sauce bar with extra chili sauce and chili oil. I wish they also had hoisin sauce, sriracha, and chili oil that looked fresher. For the toppings, they had cilantro instead of the Thai basil that I'm used to, but it tasted fine since I like cilantro. Some tables were a bit dirty, and it looked like they hiked up the prices of the dishes compared to the photos of the menu on Yelp. The combos were over $20. The service was fast. We received our food within 10 mins of ordering. Was filling, satisfied my pho craving, and served as a good pick-me-up before walking around the rest of downtown.

I went in expecting a quick bite and left wondering if I should cancel my flight and commit to a long-term relationship with their menu. The service was the kind that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit: attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it. You know, the sweet spot most places miss by a mile. The ambiance strikes that rare balance: polished enough to feel like you made a good decision, but relaxed enough that no one's judging you for aggressively enjoying your curry. Now, the portions. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was bustling. We got seated right away at a booth with a window view. My waitress was an older Asian lady. She was very nice, not too talkative, but she was on top of her things. I was craving soup and decided on the highly recommended tom kha with tofu. To start, we had thai tea, thai coffee and the shrimp triangle. For our entrees, we decided on the pad see eu (they spell it pad se eu here), panang curry. The shrimp triangles were very yummy. Definitely get those. The thai tea and coffee was good, but just a little watered. I expected the taste to last in my mouth for a little bit. But it didn't. For the soup, I was excited to taste the soup! It smelled really good and it was boiling hot. My thought after my first sip of Tom Kha was, ok, this is good, they got it, but it just wasn't quite there. I couldn't pinpoint what was missing. Then I figured out that they didn't use full coconut milk. It was just a little bit and it was the lighter version. How disappointing! I wanted the robust tang, spice and coconut like how I have at home. The entrees made me sad. I really, really wanted to love it. The panang curry should be rich, thick and creamy. Instead it was soupy. I was really expecting and wanting the curry to stick to my rice, but instead it made soupy curry rice. My daughter pointed out that the curry and the tom kha soup was the same color and consistency. I didn't want to believe, but I think they used the same base and added the appropriate toppingss and seasonings to make a soup and a curry. My saddest dish was my last one that came out. It was the pad se eu. The wide rice noodles was wet and in broken pieces. I'm Asian and I'm from Vegas via Hawaii which means we have a lot of Asian cuisines, we know our food and have friends who work in high end Thai restaurants. (Think Lotus of Siam) When rice noodles break into smaller pieces, it means the noodles are probably not fresh and got hard. To soften, the cook used extra water and the heat was not high enough to cook, so it stuck to pan, making the cook mix it around more...broken wet noodles that doesn't brown. Overall, I really wanted to love this place. It has potential. Maybe it was an off day but on that day I went, it didn't give me the wow I expected. Most of the items has the taste on point. Please don't water down the curry or use lower fat coconut cream. I'm not used to having regular brocolli in thai food either, but I guess this is what Eugene likes or what we can get. And people, share your food! Thai food is family style! Share it! Put it in the middle of the table and let the other person have some! I was people watching around my table and my table was the only one that didn't have our own entree per person. lol
