We get here right at opening and are greeted as we walk in. We are seated with menus and water. The floor and tables are clean and there is a full bar with CC televisions showing a football game. The place is well lit with lots of natural light and overhead music. The tables and seats are very comfortable and the service is prompt and polite. The Thai iced tea is sweet and flavorful. I find it addicting. The Triangle Shrimp came with a plum dipping sauce. The shrimp is wrapped in a wonton like flour wrapper and is crispy. The shrimp inside is the perfect al dente. The Shrimp Pad Thai was a powerful blast of flavor and talk about thick! I asked for extra peanut sauce and was presented with a ramekin that I poured over the whole plate. The shrimp is perfectly cooked as are the noodles, onions, garlic and sprouts. There is egg and ground nuts as well as the peanut sauce. The portion is huge and very filling. The service here is really good. I found the food fresh and very flavorful. This was a 5 star experience for this visit.

My first time to this location and while it isn't as crowded as the downtown location, it's spacious and on our visit only a few tables occupied. I thought the food was equally as good as the downtown location and did not disappoint. Located in a shopping mall, parking is easy to find. Service was quick and we were served our dishes quickly. We ordered the green papaya salad and a variety of curry dishes. The curries were all very tasty and we had our choice of proteins. As for the papaya salad, I thought it was a bit salty and the fish sauce was a little over powering for my taste. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will return.

As a non meat-eater, I find it challenging to enjoy restaurants that don't offer enough vegetarian dishes. Ta Ra Rin has delivered in that regard; the challenge is choosing which vegetarian dish to order. They offer tempeh as well as tofu for proteins, and cater to a variety of dietary needs by also offering meat options, so you can mostly tailor them to your preference. The dishes are fresh, colorful and flavorful, and they actually understand what "mild spice" means, to the benefit of us spice wimps. IYKYK... The dining room at this location lacks some ambience because it's essentially one large room that can get pretty loud, and it's usually crowded (no surprise). But I personally like the chefs at this location a little better than the other, for some reason, so I prefer this one. They only take reservations for parties of six or more, and the wait for a table can be discouraging at peak times. They've been understaffed at times so servers sometimes are trying to take care of a large number of tables. Bring your patience and a good appetite. We always have plenty to share and some to take home, because you won't want to leave any of this delicious food behind.

This is my favorite Thai place in town. It's never disappointed and my friends all love it too. It's a little pricey so I only go as a treat, but it is so worth it. I always get the pad see ew with chicken, it's perfect. The peanut sauce is also really good but I don't get it unless I'm craving it since it's pretty rich. I've also had the crispy bananas with coconut ice cream and they were so good!! I've had their food both in the restaurant and to-go and it's great both ways. It travels well and leftovers last well in the fridge. The servers have always been attentive and friendly, as have the hosts when I come to pick up my to-go orders. It can get a little loud at dinner time because of the crowds watching games on the tvs, but the rest of the time the place is very cozy and intimate.

Loved the pad Thai and fried rice here. Classic, perfectly executed dishes. Servers were really nice too. Best part was the servings for the price! We had leftovers for lunch the next day!

I called & asked for 2 orders of chicken pad Thai with extra sauce & 1 order of golden spring rolls. Got there & they had one order of chicken pad Thai & the rolls not sure why we had to wait for the 2nd order of pad Thai its like the person taking the order the phone wasn't even listening when taking g the order. Never got the extra sauce the pad Thai was very dry. Very sad about this food order it was $40.00 & I would have ordered from a Thai food truck they seem to have better Thai food these days. I thought Ta Ra Rin was better than this.

If you're into pumpkin, right now they have a seasonal dessert you have to try! So fresh and beautifully plated.

I went in expecting a quick bite and left wondering if I should cancel my flight and commit to a long-term relationship with their menu. The service was the kind that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit: attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it. You know, the sweet spot most places miss by a mile. The ambiance strikes that rare balance: polished enough to feel like you made a good decision, but relaxed enough that no one's judging you for aggressively enjoying your curry. Now, the portions. Let's just say I arrived hungry and quickly realized I had made a tactical error by also having a flight to catch. The plates are generous. Borderline ambitious. Under different circumstances I would've happily taken half of it home. And the price? Genuinely refreshing. You get high-quality food, generous portions, and excellent service without that subtle sting of regret when the bill arrives. It feels almost suspiciously reasonable. I walked in trying to kill time before a flight and walked out wondering if I should start scheduling layovers in Eugene on purpose.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was bustling. We got seated right away at a booth with a window view. My waitress was an older Asian lady. She was very nice, not too talkative, but she was on top of her things. I was craving soup and decided on the highly recommended tom kha with tofu. To start, we had thai tea, thai coffee and the shrimp triangle. For our entrees, we decided on the pad see eu (they spell it pad se eu here), panang curry. The shrimp triangles were very yummy. Definitely get those. The thai tea and coffee was good, but just a little watered. I expected the taste to last in my mouth for a little bit. But it didn't. For the soup, I was excited to taste the soup! It smelled really good and it was boiling hot. My thought after my first sip of Tom Kha was, ok, this is good, they got it, but it just wasn't quite there. I couldn't pinpoint what was missing. Then I figured out that they didn't use full coconut milk. It was just a little bit and it was the lighter version. How disappointing! I wanted the robust tang, spice and coconut like how I have at home. The entrees made me sad. I really, really wanted to love it. The panang curry should be rich, thick and creamy. Instead it was soupy. I was really expecting and wanting the curry to stick to my rice, but instead it made soupy curry rice. My daughter pointed out that the curry and the tom kha soup was the same color and consistency. I didn't want to believe, but I think they used the same base and added the appropriate toppingss and seasonings to make a soup and a curry. My saddest dish was my last one that came out. It was the pad se eu. The wide rice noodles was wet and in broken pieces. I'm Asian and I'm from Vegas via Hawaii which means we have a lot of Asian cuisines, we know our food and have friends who work in high end Thai restaurants. (Think Lotus of Siam) When rice noodles break into smaller pieces, it means the noodles are probably not fresh and got hard. To soften, the cook used extra water and the heat was not high enough to cook, so it stuck to pan, making the cook mix it around more...broken wet noodles that doesn't brown. Overall, I really wanted to love this place. It has potential. Maybe it was an off day but on that day I went, it didn't give me the wow I expected. Most of the items has the taste on point. Please don't water down the curry or use lower fat coconut cream. I'm not used to having regular brocolli in thai food either, but I guess this is what Eugene likes or what we can get. And people, share your food! Thai food is family style! Share it! Put it in the middle of the table and let the other person have some! I was people watching around my table and my table was the only one that didn't have our own entree per person. lol

The eggplant is tender and so rich and balanced in flavor, it is simply a delight to eat. We chose the Fried Tofu for the Pad See Ew and it was delicious. The Massaman curry came with a bowl of rice, brown or jasmine, as did the eggplant. We were a little concerned that the single bowl would not be enough because we were sharing the dishes family style. But it worked out. We also ordered off the special as well on the recommendation of staff chef Aria: the sausage appetizer and the Wild Mushroom Dumplings -- the presentation was striking and the cameras came out. Ordered the Painkiller which is by far one of the best cocktails on the menu. Side note: sometimes it's not quite blend long enough so chunks of pineapple block straw, but just ask them to blend a little extra so it's smoother. Last but not least: the Warm Spiced Cinnamon Sugar Donuts were delivered as promised warm and soft with a cinnamon sugar that loved every part of your fingers. But it was the quince ginger lemon curd that blew us away. Hands-down. We could not get enough of it. It's like an aphrodisiac and should be bottled and sold. Harmony was our server, and even though the model of service has changed so that you buy the food first and then our seated, during our meal she was attentive and thoughtful. My two guests were two of the most discerning diners I have eaten with and they were very delighted repeatedly expressing appreciation for both the taste and the appearance. It was also very gracious of Master Chef Hardinger to come out and say hello; he received their compliments warmly and they left saying they were excited to bring friends back. As long time Eugene residences I thought that was perhaps among the highest compliments they could give.

Anyway we ordered through a delivery app on a Thursday evening. We ordered pad se ew with pork, medium spice level, pad kee mao with chicken, medium spice level, the OMG and pot stickers, and a Thai Iced tea. The iced tea was warm, I'm not sure there was ever ice in it, however, that did mean I got more actual drink that I would normally get. The two apps were in open-topped baskets and stacked on top of each other in the bag. Both were bland. The sweet & sour type sauce that came with the OMG really made it edible. Between the two main dishes we ordered, I honestly could not tell which was which. What I believe was supposed to be my kee mao with chicken, might have been beef but even after trying a few pieces I'm not certain it was beef. The other dish didn't look like any kind of pad se ew or kee mao I'd ever seen and the meat might have been pork or chicken, honestly I don't know. Neither dish was even close to spicy or a flavor we enjoyed. I doused the unconfirmed kee mao with sriracha and ate it, because at that point I was pretty hungry and what am I going to do? Call and return it? Unfortunately, this was our first experience with Sweet Basil and probably will be our last.

We were the only ones in the dining room with two waitstaff. After we ordered, we hear someone from the kitchen yell, "oh shit!". We never learned why that was said but i can tell you that the dining experience was not pleasant. We started with an order of Spring Rolls, which were okay but extremely cold in the center - maybe they had been made far in advance and left in a very cold refrigerator for too long? Two sauces were served, but failed to provide spoons to use for those rolls - and we had to ask for serving utensils AND napkins. Then the extremely bland Tom Kha soup, served in a large bowl but then failed to provide individual bowls or spoons to eat it (come on servers, have you never eaten soup and know you need spoons and bowls for soup?!). UNtasty Thai Kitchen's take on phad thai was pretty terrible as well. And their larb (which they spell as laarp) was gritty and really unpleasant. We did not eat much of this meal and simply asked for boxes to take home... Upon leaving, I asked their staff if they recently had a change in the kitchen staff and they said no,.it was the same chef. If so,it certainly did not seem as it was a few months prior. You've lost three customers for this was a pretty awful experience. Happy to discuss this further, if you wish to reach out. UPDATE: Talked with their manager, Griffin, and he was very apologetic about the experience and offered either a credit or refund back to my account. I notice that their menu is huge, with a ton of specials. Great for those who want variety every time they come. 5 stars for friendliness and fast service. The guy who works there is as nice as can be. 1 star for salad rolls. It says "fresh vegetables" but the roll had one miniscule piece of tofu (1/2 inch wide?) and the rest is pure lettuce. I think there were a couple mint leaves in there. No carrots, cuke, cilantro, or any other kind of vegetable you can imagine, and barely any tofu. Peanut sauce was delicious and worth adding to the order, as the chili sauce it comes with is ok but syrupy sweet. Adding in the peanut sauce for $2, that came to $10 for lettuce. Inflation is hitting us all hard... restaurants included. But tofu and carrots are not that expensive, right? And if they ran out of ingredients, they should just say so. Yelping about petty things is not a nice thing to do. This review reflects my frustration about a broader pattern that goes beyond this one restaurant (which is why I don't include this in the star rating). Eugene restaurants often do not try to keep up basic standards because there's insufficient competition, and they get away with things that wouldn't fly in a big city. I wish more restaurants, including food trucks, took pride in what they put on the plate.
